01: Letter From The Cutest Imouto in The World.
Dear Gomi-chan,
Good news! Your awesome imouto got accepted into Eden Academy. Isn't that great? No, don't answer that question. I probably know what you're thinking. Half of you is feeling really happy that I aced the entrance test and got accepted into a world famous educational institution, but the other half is probably worried sick because you are staying alone in the house and driving yourself paranoid by watching the news and reading the newspaper. For the last time Berlint is a safe place. The stuff you read about Ostania and Westalis engaged in a cold war is probably made up to sell more newspapers.
Oh, I have some more good news. I ran into some distant relatives one day during a family trip to the museum. What are the odds of that happening? Pretty low, you will say. But Papa is pretty sure a distant family branch of the Hikigaya family settled in Europe and the Forger family showed us pictures when they invited us over for dinner. Their daughter Anya-chan is really cute. If Onii-chan doesn't stop being a Gomi-chan, I will trade you for her; I always wanted a younger sister.
Speaking of which, did you know Alchemy is a big thing here in Ostania. A great alchemist called the Sage of the West introduced it to the nation some 400 years ago. It is actually a bone of contention between Ostania and Westalis, because both of them claim the Sage belongs to them.
Loid-san says the Sage of the West was from Xerex. I believe him. Loid-san is really handsome, smart and cool. Also, he can do alchemy without a transmutation circle. How does he do that? I don't know. I want to learn alchemy, so I have been bugging Loid-san to teach me some of the basics. But it's super difficult. I bet even you can't do it onii-chan.
Do you know the Law of Equivalent Exchange? I know it now.
"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost."
Pretty cool, huh.
Which reminds me – there has been a slight change of plans.
Since I got accepted into Eden Academy, Mama and Papa have decided to stay in Berlint with me until I graduate from school. Trust me onii-chan, I tried my best to convince them to return to Chiba, but they wouldn't listen to me. I even employed your rotten tactics and tried to scare them by saying that house hunting in the capital would be rather difficult, but the Forgers came to our rescue.
As it turns out the Forgers were planning to move out of the country. Yor-san works for the Government and she has gotten a promotion and was asked to move to Japan. Loid-san is very supportive of his wife's career and he has also heard nothing but great news about the quality of education in Japan and he wants the best for his little girl.
So it's decided – The Forgers will move into the Hikigaya household and the Hikigayas will move into the Forger household. Now that's what I call Law of Equivalent Exchange.
Sorry we didn't take your thoughts into consideration onii-chan, but we all knew how you would vote on this family decision and you would be outnumbered three to one. I just wanted to spare you the humiliation. Aren't I the bestest younger sister ever? Kya, that was worth a lot of points.
Now don't make that disgusting face onii-chan. You will creep out the Forgers. And cheer up. By the time you get this you will probably be starting you first year in high school. So what, if you don't make any friends on your first day at Mahora Academy? At least you will have a new family waiting to welcome you home when you come back. I think that's a good bargain.

Author's Corner: Before you dismiss this fic completely, I would like to point out that some awful lot of planning went into this universe. I knew I had to start writing some fics for this account and I decided to go big. So, welcome to the 'Chronicles of Chiba Universe' and it's first fic in the series - 'Welcome to Mahora Academy, Hikigaya-kun!'
Now there is a lot to unpack and I don't know where to start - Okay, let's start from the beginning and give you some info on the world I have built -
The action takes place in a world where 'The Statue of Secrecy' was broken a few centuries ago and it is also a world where most of the population have quirks, have powers or abilities and being an esper or a mutant is a thing. See the worlds I have combined - Harry Potter, My Hero Academia, A Certain Magical Index. Also, unlike the Harry Potter universe, a muggle can learn magic. If I had to explain it, it would be like learning to play the violin. Now, I don't know how to play violin, I wasn't taught, I didn't get lessons, so in this context I can't do magic. But quirks and espers powers and mutant abilties are something you are born with.
Okay, I think we have done a bit of world building.
Now what have we established in this chapter? (1) Loid Forger and Hachiman Hikigaya are related. They are cousins once removed. Yeah, you will hear that phrase a lot in this fic. (2) Loid Forger can do alchemy without a transmutation circle. You know who else can do transmutation without a transmutation circle? Edward Elric, The Fullmetal Alchemist. (3) Hikigaya is about to start his first year of high school and he got enrolled into Mahora Academy. Now here I should point out that I went with 'Mahora Academy' only in name, because I searched a list of Magical High Schools and the names I found were lacking. Seriously, the name of the high school in 'The Irregular of Magic High' is 'First High School'. Also, if you don't know which anime/manga 'Mahora Academy' is from I don't blame you - It's from a really old anime called 'Magical Teacher Negima!'. Also Mahora Academy is insane - It provides education from elementary to college levels, so technically Anya and Hikigaya can attend the same educational academy.
Now what were the 'animes' touched upon/referenced in this chapter? (1) The prologue which is a letter from Komachi is a reference/tribute to how the series Hyouka starts, where the main character, 'Houtarou Oreki' also gets a letter from his older sister, Tomoe. (2) Ostania and Westalis exists. The cast of 'Spy x Family' is referenced. They will be introduced one by one from the next chapter. (3) 'The Sage of the West' and 'Xerex' and 'Alchemy' all reference the world of 'Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood'. Amestris exists. In fact, I wanted to end the letter with a line where Komachi goes that she will give Hikigaya a call when she reaches Amestris. At the moment, I don't have any plans to include the characters from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. But who knows, maybe Komachi gets to learn Alchemy from Edward Elric himself. (4) The title of the fic is a reference to one of my favourite anime/manga - 'Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun'. Again, at the moment, I don't have any plans to include the Cast of 'Iruma-kun' into this fic, but that might change in the future.
Now what can you expect from this fic? Well like I said in the beginning - 'The Chronicles of Chiba Universe' is made up by combining three universes - 'Harry Potter', 'My Hero Academia', 'A Certain Magical Index.' I might include features from other worlds as well, but remember these establish the lore and worldbuilding on a macro level, giving us the big picture as a whole. But if you want to focus on the little picture, on the micro level, as you should when it comes to this fic -"Welcome to Mahora Academy, Hikigaya-kun!" - where Hikigaya is the main protagonist then I would say it can be divided into the following parts -
(1) Family Aspect - 'Spy x Family' Shenanigans.
(2) High School Aspect - A combination of three elements - (i) Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun (ii) My Hero Academia (iii) Classroom of the Elite.
(3) Outside School Aspect - 'A Certain Magical Index' Shenanigans.
There might be other aspects I introduce in the future, but for the moment I am comfortable just exploring these worlds and incorporating certain elements into this fic which I like or might work with the overall narrative.
