George's Point of View

Today was an incredible day. It all started at work. I was called into my boss's office.

"Shut the door George," my boss told me.

"Yes sir," I said.

I shut the door.

"George," my boss said, "I assume you are familiar with Mr. Lowery?"

Mr. Ian Lowery owns the Dallas Cowboys. Anyone who knows a lick about football knows about Mr. Lowery. When I turned I noticed he was sitting in the office. My eyes widened.

"Yes sir," I said, "I know all about Mr. Lowery."

"Nice to meet you, son," he said.

I shook his hand.

"You too sir," I said.

"I assume you know Coach Johnson is retiring. We have been scouting for a coach for our team and I've been watching the way you coach today. If you're interested in coaching for the Dallas Cowboys I would love to have you come in after the new season. That starts in 3 months."

My mouth dropped open. Coaching a professional baseball team was always a dream I had.

"Sir, I would love that," I said finally, "I just need to talk to my family about it. Thank you so much."

"You're welcome son," Mr. Lowery smiled, "I'll see you next week."

Later when I got home Mary greeted me with a smile.

"George," she said, "I got amazing news today."

"So did I," I told her kissing her in a romantic way, "Should I go first or do you want to?"

"You can go first," Mary said.

"I was offered a new job," I told her, "Coaching the Dallas Cowboys."

"GEORGE," she exclaimed, "That's amazing."

She paused.

"We should talk to the kids about it," she added, "It's going to be a huge change moving to North Texas."

I nodded in agreement.

"You're right," I said, "It wouldn't be fair not to take their feelings into account."

"I'm sure they'll be excited," Mary said.

"What's your news," I asked.

"I went to the doctor today," Mary replied, "He just wanted to make sure I was okay after the miscarriage. It turns out, I'm still pregnant. I never lost the baby. It was just too small and the doctor thought there was no heartbeat. It's GOD's work."

I kissed her again.

"I love you," I told her, "This has been the best day ever."

Missy came home soon after that.
