On the grounds that surrounded the festival people had gathered in droves, the area had various food and gift shops stationed throughout the area around the stadium.
Everyone from both local and foreign journalists to fans were in the area, it was bustling with people who had come from all across Japan, some from across the world.
Heroes were patrolling all throughout the area as a precaution should any attack befall the sports festival.
On the ground, heroes such as Mr Brave, Kesagiri Man, Gang Orca and his sidekicks, Slugger, Funkman, Master Driller, Native, X-less, Eel boy, Snatch, and various other heroes would be on the ground patrolling.
In the air, the Jet-Set hero Airjet would be patrolling the skies. Along with this, both uniformed and undercover officers patrolled the area as they looked out for anything suspicious.
On the ground, people moved about either purchasing food, merch, or making their way straight into the arena.
"I'm really curious as to how those first years will do, I'd imagine after what happened to them they have a big chip on their shoulder."
"Yeah, either they will outdo themselves or they will buckle under the pressure, either way it should be interesting."
"What i'm really excited for is those third years, sure the first years are basically what everyone and their mother is here for due to what happened with that villain attack and All Might but man those third years always put on hell of a performance."
"Yeah can't discount them either but the whole world is watching because they want to see these first years, the ones All Might basically gave his career for."
"One thing is for sure the stans for the first years are going to be packed."
Further down on the grounds of the festival, a trio of heroes patrols the area.
These three heroes were none other than Kamui Woods, Death Arms, and Mt Lady.
As they walked Mt Lady decided to stop at one of the food vendors to get something to eat.
"I'll take one to go please."
"Woah! Mt Lady, is that really you?!" The Man running the small stand exclaimed in shock and excitement
"And go light on the salt please." Mt Lady said
"Of course, that will be ten bucks." The man remarked
Mt Lady began to play with the upper right side of her costume while looking away in embarrassment but in a cute and somewhat seductive manner. "Um, Oh no, My money's in another costume."
The man's face grew a comedic wide eyed grin as he looked at her flustered and surprised. "Don't even bother, this is on the house!"
Mt lady grew her own comedic grin in response. "Aren't you a dear!"
"Have you no sense of shame?" Kamui Woods asked his colleague as he shook his head before they continued their patrol.
"I was hoping I'd get to do some scouting while I was here." Kamui Woods remarked.
"Yeah too bad they have us on guard duty this time around, I'm still surprised that they even decided to go through with the sports festival after that attack." Death Arms said in reply.
"Yeah, I heard the safety commission was real up in arms about them going through with it." Mt Lady recalled as she stuffed her mouth with the food she had gotten from the vendor.
"In a sense I can understand why, the crime rate is up big in Japan right now and they need all hands on deck, instead here we are acting as security for this sports festival, not to mention the huge risk it poses given the possibility for another attack and with the amount of people here that can lead to a recipe for disaster." Kamui Woods explained.
"Yeah but if something were to happen with all the heroes they have guarding the place we would be able to prevent anything bad from happening." Mt Lady retorted.
"After what those kids did to All Might I'm not so sure, and things have only gotten worse since then." Death Arms said in a somber tone as he looked down, his mind bringing him back to that fateful day.
In class 1A's waiting room all the students had gotten ready and were waiting for the sports festival to begin
"Aw man, I was totally hoping I could wear my costume." Mina argued as she looked down to her U.A. gym uniform
"At least everyone will be in uniform, that will keep things fair right?" Ojiro retorted as he stretched.
"I wonder what they're going to throw at us in the first round." Sato remarked.
"Whatever it may be, we must persevere." Tokoyami said in response with his arms crossed and eyes closed.
Shoji nodded in agreement before speaking. "Right."
Terra was standing as she fidgeted nervously.
"Hey Terra is everything ok?" Uraraka asked as she looked at her new friend with a bit of concern.
"Oh, well I mean it's just that I have never had to perform in such a big crowd before, so many people will be watching and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit nervous." Terra said as she looked away in embarrassment.
"Hey, don't worry, I'm pretty nervous about the whole thing myself, I'm sure none of us have been on this big of a stage before." Uraraka said as she gave a reassuring smile, causing Terra to smile back at her, she was appreciative of her friend giving her a boost of confidence.
It was then that Iida bursted into the room with a serious expression before he addressed the class.
"Everyone! Get your game faces on! We're entering the arena soon!" Iida declared as some of the students got noticeably nervous while others got more serious.
Terra was doing her best to mentally prepare for the sports festival but that's when she noticed Todoroki approaching Midoriya.
"Midoriya." Todoroki said to get the green haired boy's attention as Midoryia turned to face him with a nervous and somewhat curious expression.
"Hey Todoroki, what's up?" Izuku asked as he looked up nervously only to be met back by Todoroki's cold glare.
This got the attention from Bakugo as well as the other students of class 1A as they looked on curious as to what Todoroki wanted to tell Izuku.
"From an objective standpoint, I think it's very clear that I'm stronger than you."
Midoryia flinched slightly at Todoroki's words before looking down in defeat as he lightly nodded his head. "Yeah."
"However, You've got All Might in your corner helping you out." Todoroki said, which caused Izuku to perk up in surprise.
Terra was also surprised by his words as well, it seems her Uraraka and Tenya weren't the only ones to pick up on that, however Terra then quickly became concerned as to what the boy was thinking if he had come to a similar conclusion they did.
"I'm not here to pry about what's going on between you two. But know that I will beat you." Todoroki declared as he glared at Midoriya.
Midoriya gasped as he was shocked and caught off guard by his declaration, his eyes widening slightly as he stared at Todoroki's cold glare in shock.
"Woah, what's with all the declarations of war lately." Kaminari said as Kirishima got up and walked over to Todoroki to try and defuse the situation.
"Yeah what's the big deal? Why are you picking a fight all of a sudden?" and just when we're about to start." Kirishima said as he put a hand on Todoroki's shoulder.
Todoroki quickly knocked Kirishima's hand off his shoulder before turning and walking away as he spoke. "We aren't here to make friends, this isn't a team effort."
Terra had narrowed her eyes as she looked at the boy as he walked away. She was about to speak up in defense of Midoriya, however before she could get a word out Midoryia began to speak.
"Wait a sec todoroki." Midoryia said, which caused Todorooki to stop and turn his head somewhat to glare back at Midoriya. 'I don't know what's going through your head, or why you feel the need to tell me that you'll beat me, and yeah, of course you're better than me, in fact you probably have way more potential than anyone in the hero course, that's why you got in so easily."
Kirishima looked at Midoriya nervously before speaking. "Midoryia, maybe you're being a little hard on yourself and us."
"No, he's right you guys, all the other courses, they're coming for us with everything they've got. we're all going to have to fight to stand out."
Todoroki fully turned to face Midoriya as Midoryia looked up at him with a determined expression before he spoke.
"And I'll be aiming for the top too."
Todoroki glared at him for a moment before saying one simple word in response.
"Fine."
Bakugo looked on as he grit his teeth and narrowed his eyes. Who did they think they were? Talking as if they were the top dogs of the room? Like he wasn't in the room with them, it was obvious who would be winning this sports festival, and here these extras were, thinking they were hot shit. He was going to show them who the top dog was.
In the stadium, tens of thousands of people were getting seated and were nothing short of hyped for the sports festival.
On the jumbotron, Present Mic appeared on the screen as he began to shout excitedly
"Hey! Make some noise, all you rabid sports fans! Get those cameras prepped! This year we're bringing you some of the hottest performances in sports festival history Guaranteed! I've only got one question before we start this show! Are you ready!?" Present Mic asked as his voice bellowed throughout the arena as everyone cheered in excitement and anticipation.
"Let me hear you scream as our students make their way to the big stage!" Present Mic said as the cheers grew in volume.
People from all over the world watched as the sports festival began, parents sat home watching in anticipation, some were watching to see what All Might gave his career up for, some watched with high expectations for the first years specifically class 1A, others watched with scrutiny.
The students of class 1A stepped out into the arena as Present Mic began to introduce them.
"This first group is no stranger to the spotlight! You'll know them from surviving a villain attack! The dazzling students light up your TVs with solid gold skills! The hero course students of class 1A!" Present Mic introduced as the crowd gave thunderous cheers in response, while some boos could be made out they were largely overshadowed by the cheers.
As they walked, both Terra and Izuku bore nervous expressions, as Izuku nervously pulled his collar, while Terra held her arm while trying to look at anything but the crowd.
Terra looked to Uraraka only to see the sheer determination in her face, she knew from her first day meeting Uraraka that she would lock in when the time came but to see her lock in to this degree was shocking, though she was happy her friend was holding up better than she was at the moment.
"I didn't know there would be so many people." Izuku said nervously as he looked at the crowd.
"Yeah, I mean I've been to Nascar races with sold out stands but this tops any of those by ten fold, not to mention I wasn't exactly one of the people everyone was coming to see." Terra added as she fidgeted nervously.
"I hope we will still be able to give our best performances despite all the eyes that will be watching us. I suppose it's just another aspect of being a hero we all have to learn to get used to." Iida chimed in.
"Present mic sure talked us up a lot, kinda makes me nervous. How you feeling man?" Kirishima asked as he looked at Bakugo who was walking in front of him.
"I'm not worried, it makes me wanna win this thing even more!" Bakugo said with a cocky grin.
"They haven't been getting nearly as much screen time but this next group is still full of talent! Give it up for class 1B!" Present Mic introduced as his voice bellowed throughout the arena however it was met by fewer cheers than the ones class 1A had received.
"There's another Hero class?" One man in the stands asked
"Yeah they always have two hero classes, though the 1B tends to have the less powerful students."
"I don't know man, they could be the darkhorse of this sports festival."
"Who cares about them? I only came to see these kids who cost All Might his career."
"Yeah, they are pretty much who everyone in this entire stadium is looking towards this time along, we will see what happens though."
"Next up! General studies classes C D and E! Support classes F G and H! And finally business classes I J and K!" Present Mic introduced the other classes as they all walked into the stadium.
"Give it up for all of U.A's first year contestants!"
"I get the feeling we're just here to make the hero students look better." One general studies student commented.
Next to present Mic sat Shouta Aizawa, while he didn't show it, he was quite surprised that the sports festival was even happening.
The Attack on All Might was a devastating blow to the entire hero community and villains became emboldened by his defeat, crime was higher than ever before and now everyday children we're disappearing, seemingly joining Hive Academy, the ever-illusive villain group seemed to be unstoppable as of now as every attempt to learn about them or conduct raids ended up being unsuccessful.
And here they were at this festival, with the possibility of being attacked again possibly on a large scale with the number of individuals Hive Academy managed to mass in such a short amount of time.
But what surprised him the most is the fact the Hero Public Safety Commision seemingly allowed it to happen
He knew full well that Nezu would receive push back from the HPSC
However, like many of the staff at U.A. he also knew that rodent had a silver tongue.
He also saw that after what the students had been through, they could use this as a chance to show the world that they are capable of being good heroes and prove those vultures in the media and the young villains that had attacked them wrong.
"I can't wait for this to be over with." Another student added with an unamused expression.
It was then that the sound of a whip moving through the air was heard which seemed to quiet down the crowd.
"Now for the introductory speech." Ms. Midnight declared as both the students and viewers looked at her.
"Woah this year's chief umpire is the R rated hero Midnight!" one of the heroes in the stands said.
"Amazing." another added as he stared in awe
"Man, the other years have no idea what they are missing." a third hero remarked.
"Uh, someone should talk to Ms. Midnight about what she's wearing." Kirishima said with a nervous look as he blushed slightly.
"Yeah, that costume should come with a warning." Kaminari added as he too was blushing.
"Is that really appropriate apparel for a high school game?" Tokoyami asked with his usual stoic expression.
Terra had to admit this was pushing it, she had seen both heroes and villains back on her earth who added some level of sex appeal to their costumes but this was pushing it in her opinion.
'Silence everyone!" Ms Midnight commanded before swiping the air with her whip again causing the students to stop talking and listen to her.
"For the student pledge we have Katsuki Bakugo!" Midnight declared as the students turned to look at him, some with looks of shock and nervousness, others with curiosity.
"Uhh, he's the first-year rep?" Izuku asked nervously.
"I guess that hot head did finish first on the entrance test." Sero said as he watched Bakugo walk to the front.
One of the general studies students sighed before speaking. "Only for the hero course exams." she remarked as she glared at Sero and the other students of class 1A.
Another general studies student leaned over to her and began to speak. "Hey maybe we shouldn't be so hard on them, after all they did have it pretty rough with that villain attack."
"You'd think for students who got beat up on national television they'd be a little more humble." Another general studies student retorted.
"Man, they either pity us or hate us there's no in between." Kirishima remarked.
"Yeah, the former due to what happened, and as for the latter look no further than Bakugo himself." Kaminari said
"I wanted them to stop giving you guys so much crap, but I didn't expect all the pity, wish they would just treat us normally ya know." Terra added as she looked at them then back at Bakugo as he walked onto the stage.
Everyone watched with anticipation as Katsuki stood before the mic, Izuku bore a fearful expression as he gulped.
"I just want to say…. I'm gonna win." Bakugo declared with a rather casual expression.
"I knew he'd say something like that!" the class shouted in unison.
The students of the other classes began to boo and hurl insults following Katsuki's declaration.
"Why would you be so disrespectful!? You're representing us all!" Iida shouted as he performed his usual hand chopping motion
"Not my fault the rest of you are just steppingstones to my victory." Bakugo said as he glared down at Iida and the other students.
"I'm gonna crush this overconfident jerk! I can't wait to knock him down to size!" the boy with silver hair and crust around his eyes said with a clenched fist.
Izuku stared at Bakugo in deep thought, unlike most, Bakugo's words didn't seem like overconfidence to him, to Izuku it felt like Bakugo was pushing himself.
Bakugo bumped shoulders with Izuku as he walked down with Izuku seemingly staring him down as he walked past him.
Of course, it was also a means of turning the rest of them into targets which the more Izuku thought about it, the more it could have been done on purpose, rather it was a means to push them all to their limits or eliminate the competition Izuku was not certain of.
"Without further ado! it's time for us to get started!" Midnight declared with a grin.
U.A. really doesn't believe in letting us catch a breath huh." Uraraka remarked.
"To be fair all we've done is walk into the stadium and endure Bakugo's speech." Kaminari said while shrugging his shoulders.
"Let's see what the first game of the festival will be shall we." Midnight said as she swiped her whip upward as a hologram appeared above her which showed what seemed to be a list of games which began to spin like a slot machine in order to determine what the first game would be.
Terra gulped as she became anxious, what would the game be? And would she be capable of completing it, while she was confident in her skills there was no telling what would be thrown her way.
"What could it be?" Midnight asked as the spinning continued for a couple more seconds before it stopped, revealing the first game of the sports festival.
"So, it's going to be an obstacle course." Midoriya muttered to himself
"All eleven classes will participate through this treacherous contest, the track is four kilometers around the outside of the stadium, I don't want to restrain anyone at leash in this game." Midnight said as she licked her licks seductively.
"As long as you don't leave the course, you're free to do whatever your heart desires! Now then! Take your places contestants!" Midnight declared as the crowd roared with excitement.
All of the first-year students quickly made their way over to the large red gate.
Izuku quickly snuck a glance over at Terra as she made her way to the gate, he was curious to see her abilities, while she had given a brief description, he nor any of the other students had seen her quirk in action, he thought of various ways she could use her quirk in a race such as this based on what he told her. Perhaps she would turn the ground around her feet into mud and use it in a similar way to how Ashido used her acid around her feet.
Or perhaps she would use the ground to essentially make herself stilts to walk over them all, depending on how much control she had over her quirk he could see it being an unorthodox method that could work depending on how tall she made the stilts.
As Izuku reached the gate the thoughts of Terra left his head as he began to think on his conversation with All Might that day and how he himself would get through this, obviously he couldn't fully control one for all so he would have to be very smart about this and would need to give his absolute all in this sports festival.
'I hope you're watching All Might!' Midoriya thought.
Terra was trying to mentally prepare herself for what was to come. "Come on Terra, it's time to Lock in, you got this, all you need to do is Lock in, just remember your training, you're not that weak little girl anymore, with all you've been through performing in front of a large crowd should be no problem." She thought out loud to herself as she sighed.
"Begin!" Midnight yelled as all the first-year students began to run through the gate.
"And we're off to a racing start! How about some color commentary my man!" Present Mic says as his voice echoes throughout the stadium before he turns to his fellow commentator Aizawa.
Aizawa just sighed before turning his head to his old friend. "How did you talk me into this?"
"What should we be paying attention to during the early stages of this race?" Present Mic asked Aizawa ignoring his previous comment
"The doorway." was all Aizawa said as he looked down at the students.
Currently the students were attempting to make their way through the rather narrow doorway as students pushed and shoved in an attempt to make it through.
Izuku took several elbows to the face and body as he winced slightly before managing to pop his head in between two other students as he looked to the otherside of the doorway.
'I get it, this is a test to see how we will get through." he thought as he saw Terra a bit ahead of him, she too was being hit with elbows by others as they attempted to make their way through the gate.
Terra knew this would be hard, but taking elbows to the face was one thing she didn't expect, she became Irritated by it all and wanted to get out of her situation rather quickly.
Terra knew what she needed to do to get out of this situation and win this race.
Terra's eyes began to glow a bright yellow as a yellow energy enveloped her hands, she began to feel the power surge through her and she could sense the ground all around her, the vibrations of the ground, all the people who were pushing and shoving to get out this narrow doorway. In an instant she threw her hands into the air and when she did, part of the ground she stood on came up, making those near her fall to the ground as they were knocked off balance by her sudden action.
Without a moment's hesitation she began to ride the rock platform like a surfboard as she glided through the air and above all the other students who were struggling to make it through, many had looked up to see her taking off above them all.
Midoriya's eyes widened slightly upon seeing that, he knew she would do something with her abilities, but he had to admit he didn't see this coming, though he felt maybe he should have, considering her powers it made sense that she would do that.
He wondered how Kacchan and his other classmates would fare against her in the race.
Toward the front of the crowd, Todoroki had used his ice to freeze the entire floor of the front of the doorway as ice quickly built up around the top of the exit of the large doorway that led to the track. That left many of the students with their feet frozen to the floor leaving them unable to move.
However, he was quickly followed by several other students such as Aoyama, Momo, Bakugo, and Kirishima.
"Nice trick Todoroki." Momo remarked as she swung her way through the air with some type of rope she had made from her hands.
"I won't let you get away so easily you Icy Hot basta-" Bakugo trailed off as he looked up to see… that damn extra, of all the people to show him up now of all times it had to be her.
"God damn it Goldilocks! Get back here!" Bakugo shouted, now angry that she had just passed him on some floating chunk of rock like she was hot shit.
Bakugo instantly shot explosions from his hands to shoot himself forward in an attempt to catch up with Terra.
Todoroki looked back only for his eyes to widen in slight surprise, it wasn't just the fact that his trap hadn't worked as well as he hoped, with many people managing to not get caught in his wave of ice, it was the fact that Tara, the American transfer could essentially use her quirk to fly. He had seen Tokoyami use his own quirk in a similar way, but he wasn't able to move as fast as she could.
Terra saw the looks on many of the students' faces and was unable to stifle a grin at that, she had to admit she enjoyed this somewhat, she knew she had made the right call to wait until now to showcase her abilities or 'quirk' as the people of this world called it.
Terra rapidly gained on Todoroki already having passed everyone else. Todoroki quickly noticed this and started to skate faster as he continued to make the ground in front of him into ice as he skated.
However as soon as it seemed she had gained on him she immediately stopped her grin disappearing and her eyes widening in surprise.
Todoroki didn't know why she had stopped but he knew she wouldn't have just given up on taking the lead over him without good reason. He quickly turned his head back toward only to stop as he looked up at the sight before him, his expression not changing.
"Jeez, they really put a big emphasis on the obstacle part, don't they." Terra thought out loud as she stared at the large group of robots before her as the other students caught up to them before coming to a stop.
"Targets acquired, terminate them." One of the Robots said as its optics seemed to zoom in on the students, many of the robots focused on Terra in particular causing her to gulp.
Midoriya looked up at the robots, his face becoming serious "it's those robots from the entrance exam!"
"Ooo enemies have shown up out of nowhere! I bet we're in for a treat here, a test of strength and cunning, it's a robo inferno!" Present Mic said as his voice traveled throughout the stadium and the track the students stood on.
Kaminari came to a sudden halt with some other students who had just arrived as he looked up, somewhat horrified.
"Woah no way! Are those the zero point robots from the practical!?" Kaminari asked, fear prevalent in his voice.
"Seriously!? The hero course had to fight those!?" A student asked horrified at what she was looking at.
"This is what they meant by obstacles!?" Another asked with a shocked expression.
"How the hell are we supposed to get through that!?" A third student shouted.
"So, this is what the other students faced in their entrance exams." Todoroki mused.
"Where does the school even get the funding for these things?" Momo remarked as she stared at all the zero pointers that loomed over them all before one began to come down on them already to attack.
"They obviously went through a lot of trouble, but I wish they had prepared something a little more difficult." Todoroki remarked as he placed his hands on the ground and they surged with ice before the ground around him became enveloped with a layer of ice that was followed up by ice spikes protruding from the ground as the hand of one of the zero pointers closed in on Todoroki.
"Especially since my dear old dad is watching." Todoroki said in a dark tone before flicking his hand in the direction of the Zero pointer making the entire robot become covered head to toe in ice as its attack was stopped thanks to Todoroki.
Todoroki breathed as his breath was visible from how cold he was, however, he did not appear bothered by it as he ran between the legs of the zero pointer that he had frozen.
Terra seeing this and then seeing the other robots now had a new plan of action, while she could continue to fly, she had a feeling the robots would either swat her out the way and fire missiles up at her, in her experience robots like these always came armed with some kind of projectile, and with how big these robots were she wouldn't put it past them to have such things.
So, if she couldn't go over them, she would do the next best thing.
She would go under them.
And so, she did, coming down quickly before the form of the rock she stood on changed and she burrowed into the ground, disappearing from sight right through the smoke cloud Todoroki's ice had created.
And apparently, she had done so just in time, from the vibrations she was feeling the frozen robot was going to tip over any second now as it was off balance when it had been frozen. She felt Todoroki run between the legs of the robot.
"Careful now, I froze them while they were off balance, on purpose." Todoroki said as he continued to run as the Zero Pointer tipped over, falling towards the other contestants which brought up a large cloud of dust making it hard for the other contestants to see.
"That's Todoroki of class 1A pulling out to an early lead with a devastating display!" Present Mic announced with excitement.
"Amazing! It almost seems unfair! He's definitely one we should watch! Thoughts?" Present Mic asked as he turned to Aizawa
"His attack was both offensive and defensive, but he isn't the only one we should be watching." Aizawa said as he looked toward the track, specifically the ground.
As Todoroki ran past all the robots, he felt a vibration beneath him before it seemed to pass him, causing him to widen his eyes slightly in surprise.
Not a moment later, bursting out of the ground in front of him was none other than Terra as she used another rock platform to fly into the air and continue forward.
Todoroki's eyes narrowed as he began to pick up the paste, he had anticipated quite a number of students to be a obstacle, he knew with Terra not showing off the extent of her abilities during her preparation for the sports festival that she would be a wild card but even this was something he could not have seen coming, and with what was at stake here, he couldn't afford this to continue.
"And Tara Markov of class 1A comes out of nowhere and takes the lead out from under Todoroki! No wonder these two we're let in on recommendations!" Present Mic commented.
Present Mic then continued to give his commentary "The first-year students are already off to a wicked start and it's only the first round! Talk about a cruel obstacle course! The stakes are high! We've got an entire school full of top-notch students trying to be heroes, but do they really stand a chance against our heavy metal swarm of robo infernos!"
As the dust cleared, many students began to panic as there were still a large number of zero pointers looming over them.
"Hey there's someone trapped under that robot!" A student called out looking toward the frozen zero pointer that had fallen over
"Do you think we should try and help him!?" Another student asked in panic.
"Are people seriously going to die here!?" A third asked with his hands around his head
A girl who had what looked like vines for hair looked at the robot and her eyes widened slightly as she noticed something that looked to be moving within the fallen robot.
Not a moment later a hardened Kirishima came bursting out of the robot, sending parts of metal and ice everywhere.
"I'm alive!" He roared out as he jumped to the ground.
"Gee can't believe Todoroki actually did that, anybody but me would've been killed." Kirishima thought out loud as he looked in the direction Todoroki had gone.
A few seconds passed before another person bursted out of the robot sending Ice shards and pieces of metal all over.
"Class 1A is really full of jerks! I'll smash that ice guy when I get my hands on him!" Tetsutetsu declared, his Body shining as it now appeared to be fully made of metal.
"Wooo tetsutetsu was also stuck underneath! What are the odds?!" Present Mic commented
"You know anyone other than me would've been killed." Tetsutetsu remarked
Kirishima began to run past the down zero pointer in order to make his way through the others as Tetsutetsu followed behind and the two began to argue about their similar quirks.
"Man, how lucky are they? They don't have to worry about being crushed." Kaminari commented
"We're racing each other but we can team up for now, let's carve a path." Rin from class 1B remarked as his arm appeared green in scaley.
It was then that a large explosion was heard making some contestants in the crowd gasp in shock.
"Bakugo!?" Kirishima exclaimed in shock and surprise as he watched the boy make his way upward over the zero pointers by using explosions from his palms as a means to propel himself upward.
One zero pointer attempted to punch Bakugo into the ground only for him to blast himself out the way.
'No way am I letting Goldilocks or Icy Hot beat me!' Bakugo thought as he landed on the head of one of the zero pointers.
"I figured you'd just try to blast your way through these things with your quirk, I'm impressed!" Sero remarked as he had used his elbow tape to swing himself up, Tokoyami close behind him.
"I'll hitch a ride on my shadow." Tokoyami said as Darkshadow's arm had extended and was latched onto the zero pointers head with Tokoyami riding on top of Darkshadow.
Bakugo had already jumped off the Zero pointer as he moved on to continue catching up to Todoroki and Markov, Tokoyami and Sero close behind him.
In the VIP section of the stands all the teachers sat and talked about the festival so far.
"Looks like all the pack leaders are from class 1A, at least for now." Snipe commented as he looked at the screens.
"Yeah, though Markov has really impressed me so far, she's really taken everyone by storm with the way she was performing." Thirteen remarked
"Yes, Young Markov has indeed been impressive, and I'm sure we are bound to see more out of her during the festival." All Might added.
In the commentary booth with Aizawa and Mic, Aizawa watched his students.
On the track, the students were currently working together to take down the robots as they began to make their way through them all.
"Class 1A has learned not to hesitate" he muttered mainly to himself before he continued
"They've seen what the real world is like. They've felt the fear of facing some of the most strongest villains history has ever seen, they've felt defeat and helplessness, and yet they fight on, working tirelessly to overcome the fear of helplessness, and as a result they've all grown. because in the real world they will need to act quickly if they want to stay alive."
Izuku was currently running through the course, he knew that he couldn't afford to use one for all this early.
It was then that a one point robot from the entrance exam attempted to strike Izuku down, Izuku just narrowly dodging the attack.
Izuku looked around and quickly spotted a piece of metal laying on the ground.
'A piece of the robot Todoroki knocked down!' He thought quickly as he hurried up and grabbed It while running.
'This thing won't stop chasing me down! It must have me targeted, it won't let up! It's moving quickly, which means it can't stop fast or avoid an attack!' Izuku thought before he took the piece of metal he picked up and used it to take off the arm of the one point robot who was chasing him before he continued to run.
'I have to keep going! I'll keep this and use it as a shield if I need to! Perfect!' He thought as continued to run until he came to a stop in front of a crowd of contestants who watched as the zero pointers were being taken down by…
"Yaoyorozu!" He exclaimed as he looked at the girl who was currently Utilizing a cannon that she had apparently created to take down the zero pointers.
"Piece of cake." Yaoyorozu said before she took off running.
'She beat a zero pointer so effortlessly, no wonder she got in on recommendations.' Izuku thought as he ran past the downed zero pointers.
"And Momo Yaoyorozu takes down several zero pointers to make way for herself and other contestants! What a hardcore display!" Present Mic remarked as the crowd inside the stadium cheered as they watched on.
"You're better off dodging those big fellas most of the time, but if you gotta take 'em down they're just slow dumb hunks of metal, pretty easy to hit, long as you land a smart shot that is." Snipe commented as he watched from the VIP section with the other teachers and faculty.
'I've asked so much of you young Midoriya, you don't have to come in first, just get to the next round.
"For those of you who thought the first obstacle was easy, let's see how you feel about this one!" Present Mic said with excitement lacing his voice.
Uraraka and Mina came to a stop with the other contestants as they stared down a seemingly bottomless pit, there were various platforms of rock which all stood on their own, the only thing connecting them being thin white ropes.
Uraraka gulped while Mina stood in disbelief, Asui kept her usual expression
"If they take a spill their out! If they want to pass this test, they'll need to get creative!"
"When did they even get the time to build all of this!?" Uraraka said as she looked at the obstacle she was going to have to get through.
It was then that Asui had leaped from where she was standing before and onto one of the ropes as she began to climb across the rope.
"Ribbit, this is my moment, easy peasy." Asui said as she crawled to the next platform.
"She's fast." Ashido commented.
It was then that Uraraka and Mina heard a crazed laugh and turned to see who it had come from only to see a girl with pink hair and weird gear on her, particularly on her lower legs and feet, as well as around her waist, she also bore a weird looking pair of goggles.
"Yes! Finally, this is a chance to show off what I can do! My support items are going to steal the spotlight from these wannabe heroes! Everyone! observe what my brilliant items can do! Liar arrows and hover souls!" The girl declared with a proud grin
"You're from support!" Uraraka said as she stared intensely at the girl.
Mina pointed an accusatory finger at the girl. "Hey! How come you got to bring all that stuff?"
"Students in the hero course get all kinds of combat training for their quirks! In order to keep things fair and give us a fighting chance we're allowed to bring whatever costumes and gadgets we want into the games as long as we design them ourselves! So, sit back and enjoy the show!"
At that moment a projectile launched from the device on her waist connecting itself to one of the platforms before sticking to it making a rope from the device on her waist to the projectile.
"For those of us in the support course this is the perfect obstacle to show off our ingenious creations to any companies out there who might want to recruit us!" The girl said before laughing as her boots began to power on and levitate her off the ground before she took a dive off the ground seemingly dropping into the abyss.
However, the cable she attached to the other platform makes her fall for a bit before she places her feet on the side of the platform before her hover souls jet her forward and up high into the air as she let out another laugh of excitement before landing on another platform a little ways down.
"Wow." Was all Uraraka could say to that.
"Talk about annoying." Mina said before Uraraka and others began rushing to get to the other platforms and to the other side by any means necessary, they had to if they had any chance of catching up with Todoroki or Terra.
"In the world of heroes, it can get hard to get popular without a flashy quirk, right EraserHead?" Present Mic asked, seemingly taking a jab at EraserHead.
"I don't know what you're talking about, idiot." Aizawa said, clearly irritated by his old friend's comment.
Todoroki was already toward the end of the obstacle with the stairs leading away from this obstacle just on the horizon, unfortunately, Terra had already passed this point not needing to slow down since she was essentially able to glide her way through the test, Todoroki honestly wasn't sure if he would be able to beat the girl, but he would have to, his dad was watching, and he had something to prove.
Coming up behind Todoroki was Bakugo blasting his way through the air and quickly gaining on him, however his attention wasn't even directed Todoroki's way as he now had his sights set firmly on Terra, who he was able to see from a distance due to how high up he was, he quickly began to increase speed.
"And Terra is already ahead of the others by a big margin and is close to making it to the final obstacle!" Present Mic announced.
Upon hearing this many students began to move at much quicker paces in an attempt to get through the current obstacles.
"That girl in first place is so far ahead." One person in the stands said.
"She has a very powerful quirk, most of the obstacles aren't even a problem to her due to the simple fact that she can fly over them and if she can't do that then she'll go under them, maybe the next obstacle will bring something new to truly challenge her." Another spectator commented as more people began to chime in.
"Lot of heroes will be fighting to have her as a sidekick for sure."
"Yeah, she's even a good way away from the peppermint looking kid and he's been doing pretty good himself."
"Well yeah he is Endeavor's kid after all."
"Wait, that's Endeavor's kid? Why does he have a quirk that's basically the opposite of his dads?"
"He has two quirks that's why, he can use both fire and ice but for some reason he refuses to use fire, there is much speculation as to why, but nobody really knows for sure."
"Damn, why didn't he use it when those villains attacked? Probably would have been a big help if the son of Endeavor had gone all out, it probably could have turned things around in that battle."
"I heard he didn't because if All Might went down it would mean his dad gets the number one spot which he did."
"That seems a little conspiratorial don't you think?"
"Yeah, truth be told I blame the school for that mess, the children never should have been put in such a situation, I know they are heroes in training, but they are still just kids. The school should have had better measures in place to ensure such things can never occur, hopefully they learned from their mistake even if said mistake cost a teacher his life."
"The leader is putting distance between herself, and the students stuck on the second obstacle! Only so many people will be able to make it to the next round so there's no time to relax!" Present Mic said.
Izuku was crawling along one of the ropes with the piece of metal from the robot strapped to his back, fortunately for him it had a rope like part attached to it that acted as a harness
"And now we're finally approaching the last obstacle! Everyone better tread carefully! You're stepping onto a minefield!" Present Mic announced before continuing.
"By the way those landmines are designed for the games so they might be loud and flashy, but they're not all that powerful, just enough to make you wet your pants!"
'So Terra has already made it to the final obstacle! I need to be faster! I can do this!' Izuku thought rapidly as he ran as fast as he could with the large piece of metal he had from the robot.
'Very clever, normally those in the lead would be at a disadvantage but…' Todoroki's thoughts trailed off as he looked to see Terra ahead of him on her floating piece of rock.
Terra couldn't help but grin at her current situation, she was about to win this race, and in first place at that, originally, she was apprehensive and nervous but now that she's in the lead and about to seemingly win this first part of the festival to say she was excited would be an understatement.
But then she heard it, the sound of explosions getting rapidly closer to her.
Terra turned around only to see Bakugo flying past Todoroki and right towards her. 'You've gotta be kidding me! Not this guy!' She thought rapidly as he was quickly gaining on her.
She began to pick up speed in an attempt to not get passed by him, but it was too late, and he had already come up beside her.
"Bastard! You thought not showing the rest of us your quirk and looking down on us meant you'd easily win!? Well think again!" Bakugo shouted as he raised his palm toward her and let off an explosion that she narrowly dodged.
However the explosion caused her to lose part of the platform she was floating on and nearly lose her balance and fall off of it, it also put Bakugo just barely ahead of her.
"Just like that a new student takes the lead! The crowd in here is going crazy! There's nothing they love more than an upset! And it appears the rest of the students are catching up too!" Present Mic bellowed as the crowd was roaring with excitement
While the other students were quickly making their way through the minefield some of them stepped on the minds causing large explosions of pink clouds and students being sent flying through the air Terra and Bakugo were neck and neck for the lead.
"Ugh, what the hell are you talking about? I'm not looking down on anyone, now back off!" Terra said as she regained her balance and lifted her hand up as it glowed with yellow aura, sending a pillar of rock upward toward Bakugo with mines inside of it in order to blow him back upon contact. However, he blasted himself out of the way while getting right behind her as she had taken the lead again.
Terra began sending up multiple pillars of mine filled rocks in order to swat Bakugo away, however Bakugo was persistent and kept finding a way to avoid her strikes.
"It's going to take more than some pillars to take me down Goldilocks!" Bakugo shouted as he sent blasts her way only for her to fly beneath them all.
It was then that a smirk grew across Terra's face. "You don't want pillars? Fine, how about this then?" She asked before a bunch of smaller rocks came out the ground and all started orbiting around her before she started sending them all Bakugo's way.
Bakugo instantly knew what she was trying to do with those rocks, and he growled in frustration.
"He quickly began to do his best to blast out the way of the rocks, however he let one get too close as it exploded in vicinity, the rocks which all held mines within them either detonated when they got close to or hit Bakugo directly or when they hit the ground below blowing away any poor soul that was unfortunate enough to be in the landing zone of the falling mines.
Todoroki really had to maneuver to not be taken out by the raining pieces of debris and landmines that were causing chain reactions of mines exploding.
"And look at that folks! Terra Markov is literally using her quirk to use the mines as weapons against Katsuki Bakugo and from the looks of it may actually be working! Unfortunately, that may come at the expense of those behind them!" Present Mic bellowed as the crowd became even more excited and on the edge of their seats watching this showdown.
Bakugo was knocked back a good distance away from her as he gritted his teeth in frustration and quickly got back on balance midair and started to pursue Terra once again this time moving through the air much quicker. "Get back here! I'm not done!" He shouted as he lunged toward her.
Izuku stood in the front of the minefield with his piece of metal in his hands, he looked at all the other students trudging through the minefield and then he saw Kacchan and Terra battling it out in the air from a good distance away and then of course there was Todoroki who was in third place, his early showing completely overshadowed by Terra and now Bakugo.
'Damnit! they're so far ahead!' Izuku thought before an idea came to his head and his face grew determined.
'No! this isn't over yet!' He thought as he looked at the field then down at the piece of metal knowing what he had to do.
Bakugo and Terra were neck and neck for the winner of the obstacle race, Terra slinging mines his way and using the rock around the mines to detonate them when they got close to him or to just let them hit him if any of them even did.
Bakugo couldn't afford another loss, not after last time. Last time he lost All Might was nearly killed and one of his teachers died.
'No! Not again! I'm not losing like that again!" He thought angrily as he continued to boost himself as fast as he could.
Terra had come too far to fumble the bag now; she wasn't about to let Rose, or her classmates laugh at her about what would arguably be the biggest fumble of all time.
'No! Not now! Not when I'm so close!' Terra thought as she desperately flew toward the finish line on her platform.
But then that's when the sound of a massive explosion caused both of the teens to turn their heads in shock and surprise.
A large pink cloud of smoke was visible as the shockwave from the large explosion that was seemingly from a chain reaction of mines exploding simultaneously which nearly blew all the other contestants back with its sheer power.
Out of the cloud of smoke came a serious looking Izuku who was holding onto a large piece of green scrap metal for dear life as he was sent rocketing towards Terra and Bakugo.
The other students stared in shock in surprise as Izuku rocketed himself towards the lead.
"Midoriya?" Iida muttered in surprise and confusion as he watched him soar through the air.
In the VIP booth All Might stood up and raised both of his hands into the air as he cheered.
"Incredible! What just happened!? Whatever the case, class 1A's Izuku Midoriya is suddenly in hot pursuit of first place!" Present Mic shouted as the crowd was probably the loudest it had ever been up to that point.
Terra was in such shock that she as well as Bakugo briefly stopped as Bakugo landed on the ground while Terra stood on her platform.
And then a moment later he went soaring past the both of them on a crash course for the finish line.
"Scratch that! The lead is his!" Present Mic announced as the cheers in the stadium grew in volume.
"Deku! What the hell do you think you're doing huh!?" Bakugo Roared as he blasted after him snapping out of his shocked state.
Terra was already beside Bakugo racing to pass Midoriya as she forgot about Bakugo completely.
"Look at that plot twist! Those two aren't fighting anymore! They're chasing Midoriya! That's what having a common enemy will do in this competition! This fight is still far from over though!" Present Mic commented.
Izuku began to lose momentum as his speed decreased and he began to seemingly fall as the piece of metal he had been essentially riding on seemed to drift off his person only being held by one of the straps that Izuku was holding onto.
'Oh no, I'm losing speed! They will get ahead of me again! I need to time this right, or I will lose my only chance! I need to take another leap! And take them out of the running! I can show the world who I am!" Izuku thought rapidly!
Terra watched as Izuku fell below her and was closer to Bakugo's level, it looked like he was about to fall on his face, she honestly had to admit that she felt pretty bad for him, he actually came pretty close to beating her and Bakugo.
But that's when he did something else, she didn't expect.
He swung the piece of metal over his head and hit it against the ground.
"Shit." Was All Terra could get out, she could feel the place he hit, and it was a bunch of mines right there.
It caused an explosion which launched him forward once again as he landed doing a quick roll before making it to his feet and running like his life depended on it.
"In a stunning move Midoriya has blasted past his classmates for first place! I don't believe it! He cleared that minefield in an instant!" Present Mic commented.
Bakugo quickly blasted after him while Terra was briefly knocked off balance and knocked to the ground before instantly getting back up and making the current ground she stood on into a new platform before taking off after them.
"EraserHead! Your students are amazing! What the heck are you teaching them!?" Present Mic asked his friend.
"This has nothing to do with me." Aizawa said as he watched the three of his students contend for the win.
'Each of them is powered by their own drive to succeed.' He thought as he watched them as they entered the doorway to the finish line.
"There you have it! EraserHead is a terrible teacher!" Present Mic bellowed which caught Aizawa off guard.
"I- what!?" Aizawa said glaring at Present Mic
"Who would've imagined at the beginning of this race that the climax would be a nonstop mix of surprises!" Present Mic as the three students made it to the end of the finish line.
"The first to make it back to the stadium is the first-place winner!" Present Mic announced with anticipation as the entire crowd waited anxiously to see which of the three students would make it out on top.
Terra had managed to come back despite falling and went at top speed to catch up to Midoriya and Bakugo.
But it wasn't enough.
"Izuku Midoriya is our champion!" Present Mics voice bellowed through the stadium as the entire stadium gave cheers of excitement.
Izuku looked up as he panted from exhaustion seeing the crowd cheer for him and his victory, he then looked up to see All Might clapping for him and looking down on him with a proud grin.
Izuku does his hardest to keep tears from coming out his eyes as he looks at his idol before he wiped the would be tears away.
While other students began to pour in Bakugo was not too far away panting as he looked down, his eyes wide and teeth clenched in anger as he seethed.
"Deku… no way! Not again!"
Todoroki came in not long after the two and clenched his fist and grit his teeth in anger, he had failed to win the first match, or even crack top three, this was unacceptable.
"Hey Midoriya!" A voice called and Izuku turned to see Terra looking at him.
"That was pretty impressive back there, you really caught me off guard with that." Terra said as she smiled softly.
Terra would be lying if she said she did not feel a little salty about losing this round, now she would have to endure Rose holding this over her head for God knows how long.
"Oh, thanks Terra." Midoriya said as he blushed slightly, looking away.
Uraraka was coming to congratulate Deku when she came to a stop upon seeing him and Terra talking, the sight hit her with a feeling she couldn't quite describe, but she didn't like it.
Note: And that's chapter 12, hope you guys enjoyed it. I tried making it longer, also hope the quality of this chapter is better, been trying to improve as a writer in any way I can.
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter, the other students finally get to see a glimpse of Terra's power and she's absolutely nothing to scoff at, of course Izuku still managed to beat her and Bakugo, but it was neck and neck at the end, and Todoroki realizes he's got some catching up to do.
Speaking of Terra I should note that she is a mix of multiple iterations of Terra, Teen Titans Terra, Teen Titans: The Judas Contract movie, and a bit of her Young Justice counterpart. when it comes to her powers, I used mainly the Judas Contract movie as my basis for her abilities though she can do some of the stuff she did in the original Teen Titans series as well.
Also, I'm considering changing the category for the fic from DC Superheroes to Young Justice due to the fact that Terra isn't an option on the DC Superheroes category, which is unfortunate, while the light are indeed the big villains of this story there are a wide range of differences between what essentially is my own DC universe and young justice.
Also considering a name change of this fic as well, I just don't think Threat of the unknown hits, we will see what happens I guess, maybe by the time you're reading this I already changed the name.
Please like and review, and don't be afraid to criticize, I'm still learning and growing as a writer, so all critiques and words of Advice are welcome, I'm also curious on what villain's you guys want to see show up in this, and if you have any idea's on who you guys would like to see and who you would like to see them go up against, I already have several ideas in mind for the future but I'm open to suggestions.
