It is a bright, sunny morning for Higher for Hire.
Inside the crew were cleaning while Rebecca and Ash went to get a building inspector.
"So Cape Suzette is a very interesting place." Ash said.
"It is for the most part." Rebecca replied.
What do you mean by that?" Ash questioned.
The she bear told the young wolf about all the crazy things that had happened during the years she had lived in Cape Suzette.
"I see." Ash said.
"You will get used to it." Rebecca said.
"Right." Ash said.
It takes them a half hour to arrive at Higher for hire.
"We're back." Rebecca said.
The Building Inspector went to work right away.
"I hope he doesn't find any problems." Rebecca said.
"I'm sure he won't find that many problems." Ash said
"I hope you're right." Rebecca said.
'Please, let there not be that many problems with this building.' Baloo prayed in his mind.
Soon the Inspector was done.
"Besides needing to have some work done everything is up to code." The Inspector said.
"That's good." Rebecca said in relief.
"What type of work are we talking about?" Ash questioned.
The Inspector shows them.
"Some of the wiring needs to be replaced as well as the pipeing." he said.
"That's not too bad." Ash said.
"This means you have to be close while the work is being done." The Inspector said.
"How long will it cost?" Rebecca questioned.
The Inspector shows them the cost.
"Wow, that's a lot of money." Ash said.
He didn't hear a reply from the she-bear.
"Rebecca?" Ash questioned.
He looked to see that his partner was on the ground.
"Rebecca, are you okay?" Ash questioned.
Kit and Baloo look at the written number that had Rebecca passed out
"Oh." They said.
"Look like you have to go for another Gorilla-birds run Baloo." Wildkat said.
"A what?" Ash questioned.
Molly opens her animal book and shows the page on Gorilla-birds to Ash.
"Whoa." Ash said.
"And they are very hard to transport." Baloo said
"How so?" Ash questioned.
"Trust us you had to be there to know." Kit said
"Right." Ash said.
"Oh." Rebecca said as he came to.
"you okay?" Ash questioned.
"Yeah, I had a." she started to say but she then saw the price of the repairs.
"It was real!" Rebecca cried.
"Don't worry we can get this sorted out." Ash said.
"How!? it's not like a high-paying job will walk through that door!" she said
"Hello? This is Higher for Hire?" a female deer questioned as she entered the building.
"Huh, that was convenient." Ash said.
"Yes, it is please come in." Rebecca said
The deer does so before sitting down.
"What can we do for you Miss?" Rebecca started.
The Deer explains.
"Let's me get this straight, you want our crew to deliver a package in the middle of a war zone!?" Rebecca asks
"Yes! I understand that it's dangerous but it's important." The Deer said.
"Sorry ma'am but there's no way I will fly in the middle of a war zone!" Baloo said
"I could try." Ash said.
"Do you even have a pilot license former rich boy?" Baloo questioned.
"I'm saying that I could help you navigate through the war zone." Ash said.
Before Baloo could say anything Rebecca beat him to it.
"And how much will you pay us for this dangerous delivery?" she questioned.
The Deer shows them the amount.
"We'll take the job!" she said.
Baloo groaned.
"This time it's far too dangerous so Kit you have to stay here!" Rebecca said.
Kit groaned.
"My package is in my car." the doe said.
"Do you want one of us to go get it?" Ash questioned.
"Yes, please." the deer said.
"Alright, I'll go get it." Ash said.
"I better go with you in case your former lifestyle didn't have you doing so much for yourself." Baloo said
"Right." Ash said.
The two went outside.
"That should be her car." Ash said.
The doe's car is a forest-green Austin 10.
"She has a nice car." Baloo said.
Ash didn't say anything since he mostly traveled on foot, he went to the back of the doe's car.
He then opens the back.
They saw a medium unmarked crate.
"it's unmarked." Ash said.
"If the lady wanted this package to go through proper channels then the post office would mark it." Baloo said.
"True." Ash said.
Both take one side each.
"Let's be careful." Ash said.
"You get it mini-boss." Baloo said.
As they carry it inside.
They carry it to their dock once there they set it down on the wood.
"Here it is." Ash said.
"Wait here I'll open up the Seaduck." Baloo.
"Okay." Ash said.
The aged bear went to the plane and hopped in the cockpit area.
"Well, Ma'am looks like we're taking the job after all." Ash said.
The doe then pull out a small roll of dollar bills from her purse.
"Here is the first half of the payment." She said.
"Thank you very much." Rebecca said as she took the roll.
"No thank you for taking the job, it's very important," The doe said.
Baloo opens the side door.
"Alright, let's get it in the plane." He said.
Baloo and Ash load up the crate in the Sea Duck.
"Alright, where should we set it." Ash questioned.
"Here." Baloo said while pointing to a spot a few feet away from a pair of buck beds.
"Okay." Ash said.
They tied the crate down.
"There we go." Baloo said.
They headed to the cockpit.
"Alright ready to head out?" Ash questioned.
"Yeah, but we must go the rest of the way on foot." Baloo said.
"Right." Ash said.
Baloo started the plane.
"Alright, let's head out." Baloo said.
The Sea Duck build up speed.
Soon enough, it was in the air.
A few days later
"How much longer until we get there?" Ash questioned.
"We'll be landing soon." Baloo said.
"Right." Ash said.
The aged bear landed the plane on the ground.
"Alright let's get the package." Baloo said.
They headed to the back of the Sea duck.
"So what's the address?" Ash questioned.
Baloo put out a a folded piece of paper from his shirt pocket.
"We have to deliver this to… a military base!?" Baloo nearly shouted.
"What!?" Ash said.
"See for yourself." Baloo said as he handed the paper to Ash.
"I wonder why it needs to go there?" Ash questioned.
"There's one way to find out." Baloo said as he get a crowbar.
"Whoa, are you sure that's a good idea?" Ash questioned.
"The last time I didn't check a crate that was meant to go to a military base Wildcat and I nearly ended up being shot at by an old schoolmate of mine! besides what if the item in the crate can't be damaged and the only way we have to go through a combat zone?" Baloo said as he started to open the crate.
"You have a good point, but what happens if the people see that we opened it without permission?" Ash questioned.
"If we get killed by whatever is in there?" Baloo questioned back.
"Fine but it's your fault if this gets us in trouble." Ash said.
"You know what? we'll do it your way and we will see who is right." Baloo said
"Right." Ash said.
They pick up the crate and start carrying it to the closest town.
After a few hours they arrive in town.
"Now we need to find a vehicle so won't have to go the rest of the way on feet." Baloo said
"Right." Ash said.
Baloo was about to enter a bar but notice Ash wasn't following him.
"Aren't you coming?" He questioned.
"I'm eighteen." Ash answered.
"So? You're at the drinking age." Baloo said.
"I am?" Ash questioned
"Yep." Baloo said.
"Okay." Ash said unsure as he followed Baloo.
Inside the bar.
So far the layout was the standard for a bar.
"So now what?" Ash questioned.
"I'll check how far the base is and if there is something we could borrow, you stay here and guard the crate." Baloo answered.
"Okay." Ash said.
Ash takes the crate and rests against the wall.
'This is interesting so far.' Ash thought.
"Hey, bar keep far is it the Cucamongan base?" Baloo questioned
The bartender turns to him.
"Why do you want to know?" he questioned.
Baloo explains.
"It's a few miles down the road." The bartender answered.
"Thank you." Baloo said.
"You won't know if anyone is renting a car or anything right now would you?" Baloo questioned.
"Just one place." The bartender said.
"And where is that place?" Baloo questioned.
The bartender pulls out a map.
"Thanks." Baloo said
"No problem." The bartender said.
Baloo went over to where Ash is at.
"Alright, we have our directions." Baloo said.
"Great and the rental?" Ash questioned.
Baloo shows him the map.
"The rental place is outside of town this?" Ash questioned.
"Yep." Baloo said.
"Well, then we better get moving." Ash said.
"Right." Baloo said.
They pick up the crate and start heading to the rental place.
After a few hours they made it to the rental place.
"Man, I hadn't walked that much in a long time." Baloo said.
"I see." Ash said.
'I walked far longer than that.' Ash thought to himself.
They walk into the rental place.
"I'll go get the rental." Baloo said.
"Okay." Ash said.
A few minutes later.
"Alright I have the rental car." Baloo said.
"Great." Ash said.
Baloo opens the back of the car.
They loaded the crate into the back.
"Alright let's get going." Baloo said.
They went to the front of the car
"So I'm assuming that you will be driving." Ash said.
"Do you have a driver's license?" Baloo questioned.
"Good point." Ash said.
"Ready to see your first war zone rich boy?" Baloo questioned..
"it actually wouldn't be the first." Ash said.
"Huh? What are you talking about?" Baloo questioned.
"Never mind let's go." Ash said as he catch himself from saying anymore.
"Okay." Baloo said dropping the topic.
As they drive.
They had to drive while being shot at.
"This is why I hate delivering in war zones!" Baloo said.
"Can't argue with you about that!" Ash said
Soon enough they reach their destination.
They quickly went to the back of the car while MPs headed towards them.
"let's hurry." Ash said.
Then they heard the sounds of guns behind them.
"Go! Go! Go!" Baloo said.
"Are you two from Higher for Hire?" One of the MP questioned.
"Yes." Baloo said.
"Good, men take the crate I'll take you two to see the general." The MP said
"Okay." Ash said.
They were to an office where a buck was doing some paperwork at a desk.
"Sir the ones from Higher for hire are here." The soldier said.
"Thank you, soldier you may leave." the buck said.
The soldier salutes before walking out of the room.
"I'm sorry you gentlemen had to go through." the buck said.
"It's fine." Baloo said.
The Buck then pulls out a roll of dollar bills.
"I believe that you already got half of the payment so here's the rest." He said.
"Yes, we have it's with my partner." Ash said.
"Thanks." Ash said as he took the roll.
"So if you don't mind can we see what's in the package?" Baloo questioned.
"Tanks of Nitrogen gas." The buck answered.
"What are they for?" Ash questioned.
"The gas is used to power our surgical tools and other equipment." Answered.
"I see." Ash said.
Baloo gives the wolf an "I told you so" look.
"Anyway as I'm sure that you don't want to go back to that war zone I'll have my men show you a more safe way back to your plane." The buck said.
"Thank you? What is your name sir?" Ash questioned
The buck smiles.
"I'm Major Steve Whiletail." The buck answered.
"It's nice to meet you Major Whiletail." Ash said.
"I'm happy that Higher for Hire took the job, my wife had tried almost every shipping company in Cape Suzette." Major Whiletail said.
"I see well we're glad to help." Ash said.
"You gentlemen have a nice flight back to Cape Suzette and please give this letter to my wife." Major Whiletail said as he handed them a letter.
"We will." Ash said.
Four MPs walk aside Ash and Baloo.
"We'll escort you back to your vehicle." One of them said.
"And the safer way back to the town." another MP said
"Thank you." Ash said.
The safer way did take a bit longer but they make it make to town before the rental place close.
"Alright, we just have to give the car back and then make our way to the plane." Baloo said.
"Right." Ash said.
After returning the car they make their way to the Seaduck.
They enter the plane.
"Alright, we're finally leaving." Baloo said.
The aged bear starts the plane.
"And we're out of here." Baloo said.
A few days later.
The Seaduck finally lands at Higher for Hire.
The two jump out of the plane.
"Home at last." Baloo said.
"Yeah, but did you have to stop at that island?" Ash questioned.
"We almost got shot out of the sky so yes I did." Baloo said.
"That doesn't means we have to join a party while the Sea Duck was being repaired." Ash said.
"The thing is that it's always a party with Louie." Baloo said.
"And you wonder why you don't own the Sea Duck yet?" Ash questioned sarcastically.
"Shut up." Baloo said.
"If you had spent less time at Louie's you would have already reown the Sea Duck by now." Ash said.
"Ouch." Baloo said.
"You do know Mr. Ketchup is right." Wildcat said.
Ash frowns at Wildcat getting his last name wrong.
"It's Ketchum." Ash said.
"I take it Baloo went to Louie's place again?" Rebecca questioned.
"No/yes" they said
"I know Ash is telling the truth." Rebecca said.
"Thank you." Ash said.
"Come on we were almost shot out of the sky can't we have a little R&R?" Baloo questioned.
"Little is fine but how many times we lose jobs because you went to Louie's!?" Rebecca said.
Baloo doesn't say anything.
"I thought after all these years you would finally realize that you can't just go to Louie's after or between jobs since you are our only pilot and you are flying our only plane!" Rebecca said.
"It's just a bit of fun Becky it's not a big deal." Baloo said.
"Were that the same thought you had right before you lost both the business and the Sea Duck?" Rebecca asks
"Now that's a low blow." Baloo said.
"And that's time with Trader Moe and his goons?" Rebecca added.
"Oh come on that wasn't my fault." Baloo said.
"True at the time I didn't know we were dealing with gangsters." The mother bear said.
"Yep." Baloo said.
They went inside the Higher for Hire building.
"At least we got this job done." Rebecca said.
"And made enough to pay for the repairs." Ash said.
"Right." Rebecca said.
"Which means for free time since we have to close shop for a bit." Baloo said.
"Right." Rebecca said.
Then the phone started to ring
"Huh, I wonder who would be calling us?" Rebecca questioned before answering the phone.
"Hello honey cakes it's me." A familiar voice answered.
Upon hearing the voice a huge smile appears on Rebecca's face.
"Hey, there fly boy." Rebecca said in a voice she used in the bedroom.
"How's my girl doing?" The voice said.
"Oh, I'm a bit sad I have to close my business for a while." Rebecca answered.
"Oh I'm sorry to hear that but the news I have is sure to make you feel better." The voice said.
"What is it?" Rebecca questioned.
as she was getting more excited with every second.
"With the recent air pirate activity, my squad has been transferred over to a fascinating little called Cape Suzette." The voice said.
"Really!?" Rebecca questioned in shock.
"Yep in fact we're already on our way we should be there sometime tomorrow." The voice said.
"Well, then I have to just set up a welcome party for ya," she said.
"I'm looking forward to it." The voice said.
"See you soon then." Rebecca said as she made a kiss sound on the phone.
"See you." The voice said before Rebecca hung up the phone.
She saw the looks that Ash, Baloo, Kit, and Molly were giving her.
"What?" Rebecca questioned.
"Who was that?" Ash questioned in confusion while the others looked to be either annoyed or sick or unset.
"Oh, that was my Boyfriend." Rebecca said.
"I see, from what I can tell from your reaction he coming over?" Ash said.
"Yep." Rebecca said.
"How long does major buzz kill will be staying for this time?" Baloo questioned.
"First off don't call him that and second he's being deployed here so he'll be staying for awhile." Rebecca said.
"Oh, brother." Baloo said.
"Is he nice?" Rebecca's daughter Molly questioned.
"Yes Molly, he is and he isn't like Mommy's last boyfriend." Rebecca said.
"Which one the thief or the ghost?" Baloo said in a low tone of voice.
"The thief, the ghost, was actually nice, but needed to move on," Rebecca said.
"Well, sorry to break to ya Rebecca but we can't host a party here." Baloo said.
"He's most likely not staying here Baloo." Rebecca said.
"He meant we have to stay out of the building while the repairs are taking place." Wildcat said.
"Oh, still I'm very excited to see him." Rebecca said.
"We could tell." Kit said.
"What's his name?" Ash questioned.
"His name is Cody Andrews." Rebecca answered.
"Where have I heard that name before?" Baloo questioned.
"He's an officer in a plane squad." Rebecca said.
A sudden look of realization appeared on Baloo's face.
"That Squad wouldn't happen to be called Sky Wolves would it?" He questioned.
"Why yes it is, how did you know that Baloo?" Rebecca questioned.
"They're only the most famous air force squad ever." Baloo said.
"Are you saying they are better than Squadron of Seven?" Rebecca questioned with a smile on her face.
"I wouldn't go that far." Baloo said.
"And yet we hadn't heard anything about the Squadron of Seven." Rebecca countered.
"Shut up." Baloo said.
"Who's the Squadron of Seven?" Ash questioned.
Baloo turns to him.
"What?" Ash questioned.
Baloo turned to Ash to tell him about the squadron of seven
"They're only the best air squadron ever to exist." Baloo said.
"I guess my history teacher must have skipped them." Ash lied.
"Well, then that must have been one stupid history teacher." Baloo said.
"More like they had to deal with problem students." Ash said
"True." Baloo said.
"And you should know about problem students given you were one Baloo." Rebecca said.
"Shots fired." Ash said.
"Haha." Baloo said.
"Anyway he'll be arriving tomorrow so I'm going to need to get everything ready." Rebecca said.
"Speaking of which where will me, and Kit go? We can't stay here while they are gotten this place up to code?" Baloo questioned.
"Good question." Rebecca said.
"You try Louie?" Wildcat suggested.
"Maybe I'll need to call him first." Baloo said.
Baloo went over to the phone.
"Btw Mrs. Cunningham when did you meet this Cody Andrews guy?" Kit questioned as Baloo made the phone call.
"I met him a few months ago." Rebecca said.
"And where did you meet him?" Kit questioned.
:Flashback:
We see walking down a sidewalk.
"Baloo better hope he's there and not at Louie's!" Rebecca said.
Suddenly a couple of shady-looking goons show up.
"Huh?" Rebecca said.
"Alright, lady hand over your belongings, and you won't get hurt." One of the shady goons said.
"No way buster!" Rebecca said
"Oh, she's a feisty one." Another shady goon said.
"HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!" a voice shouted
They all turn to where the voice came from.
"What do you want Boy Scout?" the goon said
The figure steps into the light.
The figure is an anthropomorphic brown-fur wolf male that is wearing an Air Force uniform his brown eyes focuses on the goons.
"What I want is for you punks to leave her alone." The wolf said.
"Yeah, try to make us." The first goon said.
Suddenly the wolf was right in front of him.
"What the?" the first goon said.
Before he could react the wolf's fist made contact with his face causing him to go flying.
He then landed in a trash can.
"What just happened that wolf was standing across from us then before I could blink he was right in front of Bruce." The third goon said.
"I don't know but let's see Superwolf here is bulletproof!" the second goon said as he pulled out a handgun.
But before he could pull the trigger he suddenly felt immense pain in his gut.
The wolf delivers a punch to the second goon's gut.
The second goon drops his gun before falling to the ground unconscious.
The Wolf turns to the third goon.
"So are you going take your friends and leave? or do you want what they got?" The wolf questioned.
The final goon went to their car loaded up his friends and drove away.
"That's what I thought." The wolf said.
Rebecca stares at the wolf in shock.
"Are you alright, ma'am?" The wolf questioned.
"Yes, I am thank you but who are you?" The business woman questioned
"I'm Sergeant is Cody Andrews." The now identified Cody answered.
"It's nice to meet you I'm Rebecca Cunningham." Rebecca said.
"It's an honor to meet you, Ms. Cunningham." Cody said.
"Please just call me Rebecca." Rebecca said.
:Flashback over:
"And we have been dating since." Rebecca said.
"Wow, that sounds like something out of a superhero comic." Kit said.
"With the crazy stuff we been through Kit I won't be surprised if Becky's boyfriend was a super soldier in the works." Baloo said.
"Well, he's not a super soldier, but he's definitely super to me." Rebecca said with a loving sigh.
"Sure." Baloo said.
'This will be another "I told you so" for me and Becky." he thought.
"Anyway, Molly and I need to head home to prepare for Cody's arrival." Rebecca said.
"We still need to pack what we need for our stay at Louie's." Kit said
"Louie said that we can crash at his place." Baloo said.
The two male bears went to their rooms, Ash would have often them to stay with him if there wasn't a chance they will catch one of his Pokémon running around.
"Alright I should head out." Ash said.
"See you around rich boy." Baloo said.
"See you Ash." Kit said.
"Have a nice day." Rebecca said
"You too Rebecca." Ash said.
"See you later Mr. Ketchup." Wildcat said.
"It's Ketchum Wildcat and see you." Ash said.
'I'm being to think he does that on purpose.' Ash thought.
"Come along Molly we need to prepare for Cody's arrival." Rebecca said.
"Okay, mommy." Molly said.
Meanwhile a fair distance from Cape Suzette we see a group of planes flying.
'I'll be with you soon' Cody thought.
