Hi to you all! Here I have returned years later with a fic. Had this story in mind for quite sometime. I was struggling to figure out what sort of plot to go with. Had so many to choose from but I finally found the one I liked the best. This story is of course A.U. It's pretty much going to include lots of known characters. Some of them I have never wrote about before. I said oh what the heck, wouldn't hurt exploring other characters for a change. Some will be OOC and others I'll try my best to keep them in character. Also wanted to included that I have a poll up on my author page. It's about which story you'd like to read more about. Beside this story I have another one up called Ruined. Whichever gets the most votes will get more updates. The other will be less frequent. Ppl who are logged in and guests votes will count! So please go vote! And now lets hop right into the prologue! :)

I don't own db/z just this story plot!

The Downfall Of West City

" Breaking news, we have received news about a debate that's being currently recorded at Twins Breaks. It's between famous Dr. Briefs and Mr. Cold. Now as you may know, these two men have been caught debating many times on their views of making West City the best city in the country. As many sources say, people have been more interested in them than the mayor himself. And so we head to Kristy."

" Thanks here we are at the Twins Breaks watching the most heated debate with Dr. Briefs and Mr. Cold. Neither is giving up on their view point on the changes they want to create here in West City."

A elderly man sits crossed legged in front of his television, anxiously waiting for the camera to pan to the, in his opinion, greedy men who wanted nothing more than to take over West City. He hears a pair of tiny footsteps approaching the small living room. It was the child he chose to adopt as his own. He was abandoned and no one wanted him. So he took him under his wing. He was a fussy baby at first, but as the years went by he became a very happy boy. He was now a four year old about to be five.

" Morning grandpa!" The boy cheerfully says as he hops into his grandfather's lap.

" Ah Goku my boy, you know better than to sneak up on me like that." He starts tickling the kid earning giggles. " My old heart can't take those types of scares."

Goku breaks away and tilts his head confused. " It can't? But I do it all the time."

His grandfather chuckles as he looks down at his grandson. " Yes you're right."

The boy let's a grin appear on his face as he then hears shouting coming from the television. Both focus on the two men on the screen.

" I have said countless times that those that are of another species are of no use here! All they have done is squeeze out all the money from our wallets. They also are taking the place of human civilians that want better jobs! Not to mention they are a huge danger to us. What if they decide to attack?"

" I don't know how many times I need to explain to you that they are not doing anything wrong. They work and earn their money. It's not like it's handed right to them for free. As I recall, you were the one who got everything handed to you by your father."

" Oh don't even try to use that against me. Also I didn't hear anything about you being against them one day rebelling. Could it be that we finally agree on something?"

" I have nothing to comment on that. What I do agree on is making West City the most successful in the country. With the new technology we have created and your way of making business with others, we could construct something no other has."

" Ha! Sorry to shatter those dreams of yours. I would never use my skills to help you! Unless…"

" Go on."

" You agree on evacuating all other species that are not humans."

" …Fine I accept. It is nothing personal but business must come first."

" And there you have it. Mr. Cold has finally convinced Dr. Briefs on this plan of forcing out any others of different race. This does not look good for the non humans."

The boy glances over at his grandfather who had dropped the remote in hand. He saw the elder shaking uncontrollably. A look of worry appears as he sees his grandfather try to get up. He tries to help but the elderly man shoos him away. Once on his feet he wobbles over to his room. Goku is left alone puzzled. Did he do something wrong? Or was he upset at what those people on TV were saying? The poor child scratches his head.

As he was about to go and knock on his Granddad's door, he freezes at the sound of sirens. Followed by screaming and shouting. What was going on?

Goku runs to the room as fast as his little feet could carry him. He starts banging on the door. " Grandpa Gohan there are people outside making scary noises!"

Just as he was about to slam his little fists on the door again Gohan appears holding a rather large box. He passes right by Goku and sets the box next to the somewhat tattered kitchen counter. Gohan goes directly to one of the drawers and grabs a knife. He bends down as much as his old legs could handle and carves a small hole in the middle. He pushes through and then faces his grandchild.

" Goku I need you to stay inside this box. No matter what happens don't make any noises. Do you understand?"

" But grandpa why do I have to stay? There's lots of noise happening outside. I want to see."

Just as Gohan was about to open his mouth, they hear a loud bang come from next door. Then of men shouting and then of a woman crying to spare her. Without any hesitation, the elder picks his boy up and puts him inside the box. He folds the box up. " Goku please listen to what I have to say. Remain in here and don't make any noise. I don't know what will happen but promise me you'll stay here. I love you very much."

Goku squints an eye through the hole and sees his grandpa smiling warmly at him. Before the elder got up, he hears his grandchild say " I love you too."

Gohan tries to contain his emotions. His eyes started to water a bit. He knew that something like this was going to eventually happen. He saw in a nightmare those two men and dozens of folks running, trying to get away as officers would beat them down. Suppose males being handcuffed and taken as the women were wailing uncontrollably, trying to defend their children. The skies darkening as the pair mockingly laugh at everyone's suffering. The nightmare always made him shiver. He tried to block the idea of this coming to pass one day. But today, he knew it was a warning from the heavens. Gohan wished he would have opened his mouth to warn others. No matter, the only one he could now save was his grandchild.

He wobbles over to the front window and lifts up a wooden blind. Outside he spots his good friend and neighbor being put into a large truck. He sees the older man hunched over barely able to walk. Gohan moves away from the window and knows it's now their turn. He take a glance back at the box. They couldn't see him. They would take him away. Because of that tail of his. The main reason no one wanted him.

Just as he was about to walk away a loud bang was heard. He falls back and sees a officer had knocked down the door. Three others were behind him. Gohan gathers all the strength he had left and stands. No matter if he was old, he wasn't going to allow them near his grandson.

" You seem normal. You sure they said this house?"

" Yes, there have been claims of someone with a tail living here."

" Fine go check the rooms, closets, drawers anywhere someone could be hiding."

The officers do as they are instructed and leave the main officer alone with Gohan. He eyes the old man not seeing any trace of worry or refusal. Either he was good at hiding his emotions or there really wasn't anyone here.

" You sure there isn't anyone here with a tail?"

" Positive, maybe someone gave you misinformation."

The three officers search the kitchen and living room. One scratches his head and spots a large box. He gets on one knee saying " Hmm, quite a large box you got here laying around. Mind if I check it?"

Gohan in an instant felt his heart drop. No they must be talking about the box Goku was in. He had to come up with some kind of distraction. The only thing that crossed his mind was to run. So he tries his hardest to pass the main officer out the door. His aching legs and feet were in pain but he refused to give up. The rest of the officers followed behind as the one officer next to the box is left behind.

" Hey do I check this thing?"

" No! I think this man hid the person somewhere else! Probably wants to warn them!"

The officer gets up and follow the others. Goku in pure shock remains in the box. He witnesses his grandpa struggling to get away from the people. He fights back to the best of his abilities but is then kicked around by the officers. His grandpa's body lays on the ground. The boy's eyes start to well up. No he wanted to help his grandpa! Those men were hurting him! Before he decides to leave his hiding, he remembers what grandpa said. Not to leave this box no matter what. Goku curls up into a ball and lets the tears fall. As he sobs he watches the bad people take his grandpa away.

The day past as night fell over West City. Goku had cried himself to sleep. The events that occurred early took a huge emotional toll on his body. He slowly wakes rubbing his eyes. He could hear nothing but silence. As he looks through the hole, he sees nothing but darkness. He knew grandpa Gohan said not to leave the box, but he was beginning to feel cramped up. He disobeys and pushes upward. The box opens as he steps out. Just as he tries to feel around for a light switch, the lights turn on. He holds his breath, scanning his surroundings. Was there someone here?

Just as he was making a dash towards the front door, he sees a older boy step out from behind the old couch. He held his arms up as a sign of surrender. In that moment, Goku didn't know if to leave or stay.

" Who are you? Are you with the bad people who took grandpa?"

The older boy shakes his head. " No I'm not. And I guess I'm like you. My name is Tien. What's yours?"

" I'm Goku and how are you like me?"

Tien could make out that this Goku was probably involved or had someone involved with everything that happened earlier. The kid also looked harmless. He was small, had large dark eyes and wild hair. Come to think of it, he never saw anyone with hair that defied gravity before. Maybe this kid was similar to him after all.

" I'm different from others. Want me to show you?"

The boy looks up at him in wonder. He hopes not to regret this. Tien proceeds to remove the hat he wore off. The look the boy gave him made him worry. After a minute passed by the kid's eyes lit up.

" Wow! I didn't know people could have three eyeballs. It is real right?"

Before Tien could respond, he hears a loud growling sound. It was coming from the boy's stomach. Goku holds his stomach frowning.

" My tummy hurts. I haven't ate anything all day."

Tien watches Goku walking towards a cabinet searching for something to eat. The boy could only look through the bottom shelves. The boy continues to search but came out empty handed. He closes the last cabinet and glances back at the teen.

" Oh well, guess no food tonight."

Tien watches the boy slowly make his way to the living room. He sits on the floor with a look of disappointment. Maybe he could find something in the top cabinets. It was worth a shot. The little kid was hungry after all. And so he begun to search. By the time he reaches the third cabinet, he sees a few loaves of bread. Happily he takes them out and checks to see if they were still good. Sure enough they were fine.

" Hey uh Goku, I found something here."

He immediately hears a pair of footsteps running over. He looks down and sees Goku with a big smile on his face. Tien gives all the loaves of bread to the little boy as Goku began devouring them. As he chews, he sees the older boy walk towards the door. He abruptly stops chewing.

" Wait! Don't go!"

Tien then feels Goku clinging to one of his legs. He looks down and sees Goku staring up at him with a worried look on his face. Tien smiles and pats him on the head.

" Don't worry, I'm not leaving. I just remembered I had some food in my bag. I was going to share some of it with you."

Goku watches as Tien dives into his bag and pulls out a container. He walks towards the middle of the room and sits down. Goku follows behind and also sits. He still had one loaf left in hand.

" Here you can take some. They're not the best but it beats starving."

Goku gives him a big smile and then breaks the bread he had in hand in half. He gives the other half to Tien.

" Kay, then I'll share this piece with you."

They both spend the rest of the night eating and talking away. Both not even remembering what had happen that day. As the days past by, Tien decides to stay with Goku. He felt bad for the child. After hearing the kid explain what had happen to his grandfather, it only made sense to look after him. Little by little they adjusted and continued to live together. Tien would teach Goku all he knew as Goku would show Tien a few books his grandpa owned. Tien learned a lot from them. So the years continued on as they both grew into young adults.

Tien had grown to love to cook various things. He would sometimes watch a few kind women that would offer home cooked meals to children wandering in the streets. He even would help them prepare and hand them out. One of the women suggested him to pursue a career as a chef. And from that day on, that became his goal. Unfortunately, that meant they would have to leave the countryside and move to the city. He thought Goku would refuse to leave his grandfather's home. But his friend told him it was okay. He also knew it was time to move on. And so he spoke to a few villagers about keeping an eye on his grandfather's home. The kind villagers would say it was no problem. So they moved to the city. They managed to find an apartment with two rooms. It was the most affordable one they could find. And so they started to look for jobs. Tien of course with his knowledge of food easily found a job. Goku on the other hand was not so lucky.

Goku didn't have anything that peaked his interest. He just liked to follow Tien's lead. And cooking was not one of his strong suits. The only thing he was good at was cooking certain meats over a fire outdoors. When it came to using salts and spices he was at a loss. So he left the cooking career in Tien's hands. The one thing he somewhat liked to read about was some books his grandfather owned that spoke about martial arts. Tien also knew a little about it. His adoptive grandfather would teach students of all ages. Of course Tien learned but thought at the time it was a waste. Seeing how it was used to kill drove him away from it. Despite his past, he agreed to teach Goku. After a few days, Tien didn't see any progress. So Goku decided to drop it.

As they fixed up the apartment they were going to live at, Tien had a serious talk with Goku. He reminded him not to bring attention to himself. Also to never say in public or to anyone of his third eye. They were now living in the city where Cold and Briefs had their business. Goku would keep telling him not to worry. That they were going to be living normal lives here from now on.

How wrong he was.

And we will stop it there! Thanks for taking the time to read this. Like I said above I'd really appreciate it if you could go vote. I'll be updating very soon with the first chap and count the votes on which will get faster updates afterwards. :)
