Mist and Maelstroms: Chapter 39
With Mei, Temari and Utakata
Mei, Temari and Utakata were all fighting Konan as a massive battle raged around them as the combined forces of Kiri and Suna shinobi fought against the massive numbers of Konan's white Zetsu forces.
While the white Zetsu's outnumbered the shinobi they were not as strong or well versed in jutsu; the biggest threat on the battlefield was Konan.
Konan was flying in the air with using her paper wings to soar above the battle field as she looked down at Mei, Temari and Utakata below; Konan summoned a mass of papers and began to shape them into shuriken.
"Paper Shuriken Jutsu" Konan shouted as she launched a massive storm of paper shuriken down below; Temari seeing this opened her fan and began to charge her chakra.
"Wind Scythe Jutsu" Temari shouted as she swung her fan unleashing a massive wind jutsu; the wind jutsu collided with her paper shuriken and knocked them out of the air. Mei seeing this began to go through hand signs as well.
"Magma Style: Magma bullets" Mei fired a massive volley of magma bullets towards Konan and Konan had to begin to take evasive action. As Konan banked to one side a bullet hit the tip of her right wing and set it on fire; Konan began to fall towards the ground and Mei thought she delivered a debilitating blow.
However she realized that Konan planned this as she cut off her wing before making another one; Konan began to morph the burning wing into a massive paper ball. The paper ball ignited and Konan launched it towards the mass of people down below.
Mei went wide eyed at this and shouted "scatter"; as soon as Mei said that Utakata took out his bubble pipe and created a bubble around himself, Mei and Temari just as the paper ball impacted about 50 yards away.
That paper ball broke apart and sent burning paper all around hitting both shinobi and Zetsu's alike; the paper stuck to their bodies and the fire began to engulf the area. Mei was horrified as she looked on at the mass of screaming burning shinobi howling in pain.
Mei had a look of horror on her face as images of the Kiri civil war flashed through her mind as she remembered using her fire and magma jutsu in a similar way.
"…ei, Mei" Echoed a voice until Mei was hit in the back "Mei" Temari shouted getting her attention. "Focus on the fight" Temari said and Mei nodded.
"I-I'm sorry; thanks" Mei said.
Utakata dispelled his bubble shield and put his pipe to his lips once more; Utakata began to launch streams of bubbles towards Konan as she flew in the air. Konan seeing this began to fly away just as the bubble neared her; as soon as she did the bubbles began to explode with the power of explosive tags sending out concussive waves making her shake in flight.
Utakata continued to launch his explosive bubbles towards Konan as a trail of explosions followed her as she flew overhead; Mei cursed in her mind as she focused on Konan.
'Damn it; we have to find a way to get her onto the ground, I'm not a long range fighter' Mei thought as she began to go through hand signs 'Water Style: Water bullets'. Mei began to fire water bullets at Konan as well as they tried to knock the Akatsuki second in command out of the air.
With A, Yugito and Bee
A was in his lighting chakra mode as he currently fighting with his troops against the white Zetsu forces; so far the battle has been pretty even as the Kumo shinobi were fairing well against the Zetsu's
"Graaah" A shouted as he chopped another white Zetsu in half; another Zetsu was behind him and attempted to attack him but before he could A spun around with a back fist. The back fist took off the Zetsu's head. A seeing a bunch of Zetsu clones in a row began to rush forward with both of his hands in front of him.
In a blur of speed A flashed past the group of Zetsu bisecting 10 in a single move; A got up and looked at his handy work 'they may not be that strong but damn there are a lot of them' A thought.
A looked to where Bee and Yugito were and saw that they were having trouble; Yugito was in her large 2 tailed cat form and readying an attack for the reanimated Jinchuriki Roshi.
"Cat Flame Roaring Fire" Yugito shouted as she launched a massive fire ball at Roshi who jumped backwards while going through hand signs.
"Earth Style: Volcanic Dragon Blast" Roshi shouted as a bronze dragon head appeared out of the ground; the dragon head shot out lava towards Yugito's fire ball. Both Jutsu hit each other and Roshi's won out as Yugito's Fire ball was destroyed and the lava went towards her.
Yugito jumped out of the way just as the lava hit where she just was; Roshi was about to attack Yugito again until he looked up and saw Bee coming down with all of his swords drawn.
"'Sup Bitch" Bee shouted as he slashed at Roshi with all 7 of his sword in a unorthodox flurry of strikes; Roshi dodged the attacks from the sword with difficulty as he was not used to this.
Roshi jumped back and went through hand signs 'Earth Style: Shield of Stone'; dirt and clay began to rise off the ground to cover Roshi's body before hardening creating an artificial armor.
Roshi ran back in and began to fight back against Bee as Bee's sword bounced off his artificial armor.
"You be bad, but you're not as bad as me" Bee said as he threw a kick "the mighty killa-" Roshi caught Bee's foot and Bee stopped rapping. "Oh shit" Bee said; Roshi proceeded to punch him in the face breaking his nose and cracking his glasses before throwing him across the battlefield.
Bee shouted as he flew through the air until he was caught; Bee looked up and saw that it was his brother A "'Sup bro, I survived that throw; now can you put me down so I can go-". A grabbed Bee's broken nose and snapped it back into place making him scream "Gaaah, you dick" Bee shouted as A dropped him to the ground as Bee grabbed his nose.
"If you want something done, you better do it yourself" A said as he looked at Roshi "alright buddy; time to die".
A had his lightning chakra mode on as he closed the distance between him and Roshi; A threw a horizontal chop towards Roshi's head. Roshi ducked under the chop and countered by throwing a punch towards A's; the punch connected but A's physical conditioning and lightning chakra mode lessened the blow.
A aimed a kick towards Roshi's head but Roshi jumped away and landed a few yards away; Roshi looked at the hand he used to punch A and saw that it was damaged but was reforming. Roshi began to go through hand signs as he focused on A.
"Earth Style: Earth Dragon God Blast" Roshi yelled as he slammed his hand onto the ground; a large bronze dragon head shot out of the ground followed behind by a body made of earth and stone. The Dragon went towards A who got ready for the oncoming dragon.
A straightened out his hand like a spear point very reminiscent of his father technique "Strongest Spear" A shouted as he ran towards the oncoming earth dragon. A sent his hand towards the dragon and the 2 jutsu collided.
A's technique cut through the dragon destroying it before landing on the ground and looking at his hand; his ring and pinky finger were dislocated from hitting the dragon. A grabbed his fingers and popped them back into place as he looked at Roshi.
'Even while using lighting, the element that defeats earth; I still got hurt' A said astonished 'damn this isn't going to be easy'. Roshi suddenly put his hands together and began to gather his chakra as it began to gather around him.
Roshi began to transform much like Yugito did until he turned into his tailed beast form of a four tailed monkey.
'And now it just got harder' A thought before looking over to Bee "Bee, hurry up and turn into the eight tails; we need the power".
"Right Bro" Bee said as he got to his feet and began to gather his chakra ; Bee transformed into his eight tailed Ox form "lets get this fool".
With Itachi, Tayuya, Fu, Karin, Kurama and Hana
Sasuke swung his Susanoo's arm at Kurama who was in his four tail chakra cloak; Kurama ducked under the arm and rushed towards Sasuke with his claws ready to attack. Kurama slashed at Sasuke's Susanoo dragging his long claws against the Susanoo's armor causing damage.
"Come and fight me Uchiha; quit hiding behind your Susanoo and face me like a man" Kurama said in a demonic voice and Sasuke grit his teeth.
"Get off me you freak of nature" Sasuke shouted as he grabbed Kurama and threw him off into the distance; Sasuke pulled back the bow on his Susanoo's arm and readied an arrow. Sasuke fired the arrow but Kurama was ready for it.
Kurama opened his mouth and formed a golf ball sized Biju bomb in his mouth before firing it at the arrow; the Biju bomb hit the arrow causing a large explosion that sent dust and debris into the air.
Kurama rushed forward and formed another Biju bomb before firing it at Sasuke's Susanoo; Sasuke put both of hit Susanoo's arms in front of him to block the oncoming Biju bomb. The explosion sent Sasuke flying across the clearing before crashing into trees as Kurama rushed forward.
"Die Uchiha" Kurama said as he jumped and landed on Sasuke's Susanoo and began to claw at it chipping away at Sasuke's ultimate defense. Sasuke began to struggle as he tried to fight against Kurama.
'What the hell is he' Sasuke thought as Kurama sunk his claws into the Susanoo and began to pry it open.
Sasuke grabbed his sword and aimed it at Kurama "Chidori Spear"; Sasuke launched a piercing lighting jutsu towards Kurama and the jutsu pierced him in the body sending Kurama flying into a tree and being pinned there.
Sasuke's Susanoo dispelled as he got back up and began to walk towards Kurama "looks like you were all talk" Sasuke said with a smirk "you couldn't even-".
Kurama used his claws to destroy the chidori spear shocking Sasuke as he fell back to the ground in a crouch "hehehehe… that tickled a little" Kurama said to an alarmed Sasuke.
Kurama charged at Sasuke and began to slash at him with his claws; Sasuke charged his sword with lighting chakra and began to use it to parry and block Kurama's attacks.
"What the hell are you" Sasuke shouted as he slashed at Kurama; Kurama reached out and caught his sword at the lightning began to make screeching movies in his grasp.
"The last thing you'll see before you die" Kurama said before taking another slash at Sasuke.
Itachi,Karin, Tayuya, Fu and Hana were all in the battle fighting against Sasuke's forces which was a mix of hold out Oto shinobi and Orochimaru's test subjects.
Itachi was only using his sharingan to fight against the enemy since he wanted to save chakra in case of a counter attack. Itachi ducked under a swipe from a test subjects claws and retaliated with a slash of his sword; the sword cut off the test subjects arm making him howl in pain.
The test subject took another swipe at Itachi with it's remaining arm and Itachi using his sharingan saw this and jumped up and over his opponent; while in mid air Itachi took another slash with his sword and scored a hit.
Itachi cut the nape of the test subjects neck hitting the brain stem, killing the enemy instantly dropping his body to the ground; Itachi landed and saw a group of Oto ninja approaching him and began to go through hand signs.
'Fire Style: Fire Ball Jutsu' Itachi fired a large fireball towards the group of approaching Oto ninja; the fire ball hit them setting them on fire. Itachi looked around as his small force of Konoha ninja were fairing well against the enemy.
'This is going well; just a little bit more and we'll be able to push them back' Itachi thought as he looked around; Itachi saw Tayuya using her flute to control her Doki as she fought a group of Oto ninja.
Tayuya playing her flute sent her club Doki towards a group of Oto ninja; the Doki raised it's club and swung it at the group of Oto ninja. The Oto ninja scattered but one of them was not fast enough and was hit by the club; one group on ninja prepared to attack but Tayuya sent one of her other Doki towards them.
Fu was above the battle using her wings to provide air support; Fu saw a volley of shuriken coming towards her and she took evasive maneuvers and avoided the projectiles. Fu took out several kunai with explosive tags and threw them towards the ground aiming for several masses of gathered troops.
Hana was with her 3 dogs and was taking out Oto ninja using her claws and her clan Jutsu; Hana's 3 dogs got close and made a hand sign. "Fang over fang" Hana shouted as she and her dogs jumped towards the enemy as they began to spin in mid air; Hana and her dogs now looked like spinning grey vortexes as they plowed through the enemy.
Karin was using her chakra chains to fight against the Oto ninja and was holding her own pretty well; Karin sent her chain to one ninja and wrapped it around his neck. Karin proceed to swing him around using him like a wrecking ball as she swung him towards a group of test subjects.
As Karin took a breath she heard another loud 'boom' come from the direction that Kurama had lured Sasuke to in order to mitigate friendly casualties. 'Kurama, please be safe' Karin thought.
With A, Yugito and Bee
Roshi in his 4 tailed monkey form summoned several torrents of lava from beneath the earths crust and fired it towards A, Yugito and Bee; A, Bee and Yugito all scattered as the lava impacted and splattered sending globs of burning magma around the area.
Yugito in her 2 tailed cat form ran towards Roshi and pounced on him began to attack him using her claws scratching him repeatedly all over his body; Roshi reached around and grabbed Yugito before throwing her. Yugito crashed into several trees knocking them over before getting back up inter her feet and growling at Roshi.
Bee seeing Yugito get knocked away decided to give a shot at fighting Roshi; Bee opened his mouth and began to charge up a low powered Biji bomb. 'Take this Sucka' Bee thought as he fired the small Biju bomb at Roshi.
Roshi seeing this began to create his own full powered Biju bomb and A became alarmed; A knew that Bee's bomb wasn't at full power so the damage would be minimal. But Roshi's was at full power and if he fired it and both of the bombs collided everyone in the entire area would be killed.
"Holy fuck" A shouted as he rushed towards Roshi at full speed; Roshi was about to fire off the Biju bomb but before he could A sent a flying kick to his head knocking it to the side. Roshi fired the Biju bomb off to the west as it began to soar off into the distance.
Meanwhile with Mei, Utakata and Temari
Mei, Utakata and Temari were still fighting against Konan as she flew in the air; Mei was about to make another move until something popped into the corner of her eye. Miles behind the battle a black dot was flying through the air.
"Hey… what the hell is that" Mei said pointing at the black dot; Temari, Utakata and even Konan turned and saw it.
"What is that thing" Konan asked confused.
"Is my vision going bad" Temari asked rubbing her eyes and squinting "it's like a floater or something".
Utakata however being a jinchuriki realized what it was and grabbed both Mei and Temari "get down, GET DOWN" he shouted as he pulled both women to the ground. The black dot vanished into the wood lines about 5 miles away.
The next thing everyone knew there was a load explosion and everyone from the Zetsu's to the Kiri ninja all looked over as they saw a giant mushroom cloud; before anyone could do anything a powerful wind swept through the area knocking people down and even blowing some people away like rag dolls.
Even Konan was sent to the ground only being stopped when she used her paper wings to hold herself still as the wind rushed by; a few second later the wind died down as dust and debris landed all around.
"What the fuck was that" Temari said as she looked on in awe; Temari felt a tap on her shoulder and saw it was Mei. Me was pointing at Konan who was on the ground no more than 15 feet away from them.
Konan looking at them was now wide eyed as she realized she was no longer in the air.
"Get her" Mei shouted as she and the other got back up and immediately attacked Konan.
Back with A, Bee and Yugito
"Good save bro" Bee said "take this monkey boy"; Bee fired his Biju bomb towards Roshi and Roshi was still too distracted to counter as it approached.
Roshi was hit by the Biju bomb and the resulting explosion shook the surrounding area kicking up dust and debris making both ninja and Zetsu clones brace themselves as the wind blew. When it all settled Bee looked on at the pile of smoke and fire with a sense of pride.
However this was soon destroyed when several balls of magma came shooting out of the smoke and towards Bee "Damn" Bee shouted as he was hit by the Magma and he began to burn.
"BEE" A shouted as he turned his attention to the smoke; Roshi appeared out of the smoke with his left side destroyed and reforming "You bastard" A shouted as he rushed forward. A using his lightning chakra mode threw a chop towards Roshi's midsection; A proceeded to bisect Roshi cutting him in half as hit top half and lower half fell to the ground.
A stopped a few yards away and looked towards Yugito "Yugito; torch him" A ordered and Yugito nodded.
'Fire Style: Mouse Hairballs' Yugito fired a dozen blue fire hairballs towards the downed Roshi and when they hit they exploded into an inferno. Roshi began to burn as his body was beginning to destroyed faster that it was regenerating.
Yugito and Bee canceled their Biju forms and ran over as did A; all 3 stood over Roshi who had a smile on his face. Roshi looked to all of them and spoke "thank you" he said before he closed his eyes; the seal inside his head was engulfed in the fire and Roshi burned to nothing.
"Rest in peace bro" Bee said as he held his arm; his left arm was burned due to the magma but other than that he was fine "hey A, how's the hand". A looked to him and flexed his fingers.
"Fingers are broken; but I still have another hand" A said as he looked to Yugito "Yugito, are you good". Yugito nodded and spoke.
"I'm fine" Yugito said and A nodded.
"Ok people, lets mop up and take these uglies out; I wanna be back in camp for dinner" A said and both Bee and Yugito nodded as they turned around and charge back into battle to mop up the remaining Zetsu clones.
With Itachi, Kurama, Karin, Tayuya, Fu and Hana
"Fall back" An Oto shinobi shouted as he began to run away.
"Retreat" another shinobi shouted as he ran away as well.
Itachi, Fu, Hana, Karin and Tayuya were all looking on in relief as the remaining enemy forces were running away from the battlefield; Itachi looked around and saw the the Konoha shinobi they brought were cheering in victory.
"We won" Itachi said surprised "five hundred verses two thousand and we won".
Tayuya scoffed at this and sent her Doki away "not that much of a surprise to me" Tayuya said gaining their attention "Orochimaru didn't exactly recruit the cream of the crop; most of these fucks were just bandits, criminals, low class ninja and Orochimaru's fuck ups". "That's why during the leaf invasion you were able to push us back" Tayuya said and Karin spoke up.
"Ok now we just have to find-" Karin began until a loud explosion erupted in the woods not that far away "never mind I think I just found him".
Itachi looked to the Konoha ninja and spoke "gather up the wounded and return to the camp" he ordered "leave a few patrols here to look for stragglers". The Konoha ninja all nodded in agreement and Itachi along with the others ran off to find Kurama.
Kurama and Sasuke were both still fighting and Sasuke in simple terms was getting his ass kicked; so far Sasuke has stabbed, slashed, burned and used chidori on Kurama multiple times. But there seems to be no serious damage done to him.
Sasuke dodged another slash from Kurama's claws and swung his sword towards him; Kurama stuck out his claw and grabbed onto the sword. Kurama proceeded to snap the sword in half before spinning around and swatting Sasuke away with his tails; Sasuke was sent sailing into a tree hitting it hard before falling to the ground and looking at Kurama.
"You bastard" Sasuke growled.
"You're almost out of options Uchiha; give up and I'll kill you and end your misreable existence" Kurama said and Sasuke grit his teeth.
"Kurama" came a voice; Sasuke and Kurama looked over and saw Itachi, Karin, Fu, Tayuya and Hana running up "how's it going" Karin asked and Kurama chuckled.
"The fool still thinks he can take on a Biju" Kurama said with a laugh; Sasuke began to charge up a chidori as Kurama talked to Karin "he really is an arrogant prick; he thinks just because he has the Sharingan that he-".
"Chidori" Sasuke roared as he plunged his Jutsu towards Kurama; Kurama reached out and grabbed his arm before looking at Sasuke who shuddered.
"It's rude to interrupt a conversation" Kurama said with a smile; Kurama raised up his other hand and swiped down towards Sasuke. Kurama severed Sasuke's arm at the elbow before kicking him back into the same tree he just got up from "Idiot" Kurama said.
Sasuke in a final attempt to save himself looked at Kurama with his one Mangekyo Sharingan and his one Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan "Amaterasu" Sasuke said.
Sasuke shot black fire towards Kurama and Kurama jumped out of the way as the black fire roared past him; Kurama landed and formed a Biju bomb the size of a golf ball in his mouth.
"Enjoy the afterlife boy" Kurama said as he fired the small Biju bomb towards Sasuke; Sasuke seeing this closed his eyes as the Biju bomb approached him. The resulting explosion shook the area and made Itachi, Fu, Karin, Tayuya and Hana cover their eyes; then the dust settled Kurama stood there with a smile on his face as he deactivated his cloak.
"The deed is done" Kurama said as he walked back over to his comrades; behind him a good 10 acres of forest was destroyed and another part of the forest was on fire due to Sasuke's black flames "all good Itachi; how does it feel to be the last Uchiha".
"Not to good" Itachi said slightly saddened by the death of Sasuke "Karin… lets seal up the flames"; Itachi began to walk away as Kurama walked to Karin.
"Glad to see you're alive my love" Kurama said before giving Karin a smack on the butt making her jump and glare at him.
"Jerk" Karin said as she began to walk away "lets just seal up this damn fire".
With the Oto Forces
The remaining 500 Oto ninja at waited in a clearing as they decided what they want to do "we should go back to the mainland" one of them said.
"Oh yeah; and how do we do that jack ass" another said.
"We left Lord Sasuke behind" one piped up and the others looked at him.
"Who cares; the guy was delusional" the first one said "he was all bark and no-"; he stopped when he looked to the top of a nearby hill and froze in fear.
Sasuke was on top of the hill missing an arm with his right eye showing his EMS while his left eye was completely blind; Sasuke used Izanagi in order to escape death but it resulted in him losing one of his eyes.
'Cowards' Sasuke thought as he looked down at his remaining Oto troops "Amaterasu" Sasuke said; the entire clearing was engulfed in black flames as the remaining Oto shinobi began to scream in agony. This lasted for a few minutes until the screaming stopped and Sasuke canceled the black flames.
Sasuke looked down at the scorched earth down below and turned away 'I must find lord Pein; I need medical attention' he thought as he limped away.
With Naruto, Kisame, Watasumi, Chojuro, Raiga and Ranmaru
Naruto and the others were attempting to make their way to help out anyone else who may need their help; so far Naruto was getting nervous as he had a bad feeling in his gut. As they ran along the sound of battle were heard up ahead and Naruto looked behind him at his comrades.
"Ok guys, lets hop in the fight and help them out" Naruto said and the others nodded; Naruto and the other burst through the tree line and saw that they were in a swap. Naruto looked to the side and saw Tsunade, Jiraya and Kakashi all fighting along with a large contingent of Konoha shinobi.
"Looks like they're having a party" Kisame said with a smile "lets go and have some fun".
'Damn it; Mei's still a little more west' Naruto thought 'Mei, hold on; I'll be there soon'; Naruto grabbed his sword and got ready for battle. "Lets you guys" Naruto shouted as he and his fellow swordsmen charged in.
With Mei, Temari and Utakata
Mei went though hand signs as a volley of paper shuriken came towards her "Water Style: Water Wall"; Mei created a water wall in front of her and most of the shuriken were stopped. However several made it though and Mei was hit in the right leg and the left hand "crap" Mei shouted as she pulled out the paper projectiles.
Konan jumped back and tried to get back into the air but was soon faced by Temari who jumped above her "no you don't" Temari said as she brought her fan back "Wind Scythe Jutsu". Temari fired a wind Jutsu that sent Konan back down to the ground hard.
Konan tried to get back up but was soon faced with Utakata who was firing exploding bubbles at her; Konan began to run as the bubbles began to explode behind her. As she did she saw a group of Zetsu's and ran to them.
"Distract them" Konan ordered and Mei realized what she was doing.
"She's trying to beg back into the air" Mei shouted as she charged the Zetsu clones; Mei punched one before sweeping it's leg and kicking it into another. A clone launched a punch at Mei and it hit her in the jaw making her spit up blood; however Mei grabbed the clones arm and proceeded to shoulder throw it onto the ground.
Mei stomped onto it's head breaking it open and looked back to Konan "don't let her get into the air" she shouted; both Utakata and Temari readied their attacks but stopped when they heard a shout.
"Earth Style: Rock Barrage" came a famine shout; Konan turned towards the shout only to be met with hundreds of rocks and stones coming towards her at high speeds. The rocks and stone pierced through her paper body and wings making her lose momentum and fall to the ground; Konan landed in a crouch and looked to her new opponents.
Mei, Temari and Utakata all looked on in shock "what are you doing here" Mei asked.
Kurotsuchi along with about 1,000 Iwa ninja stood off to the side with a smile on her face "My grandfather didn't want Iwa to help; but he never said anything about our missing ninja" she said. Kurotsuchi pointed to her forehead protector and saw that it was scratched out "we're the Iwa volunteer corps" she said with a smile.
"Now then" Kurotsuchi said getting serious "Iwa ninja; attack" she shouted as the 'rogue' Iwa ninja charged forward with cheers and battle shouts.
Mei smiled at this and got back up "lets finish this fight" she said as the tide of battle was about to turn.
