ESKK: Well, here we are the first chapter of this new fanfic. My muse goes where it may so let's get started folks.

(Start Seran Sovereign command room)
Seran was not having a good day not in the slightest. Sitting in his chair of the command area of his, 'ship,' he was rubbing his forehead as his mandibles clicked very so often. He was a fugitive of the law now thanks to Shepard who was now a SPECTRE. He could have handled it well enough, but he beat him to Liara T'Soni if reports from the Geth are accurate. Shepard now had two valuable pieces on his side in this hunt, but he intended to win. Right now, his ship was docked elsewhere hidden away as he prepared to make his way to Zhu's hope to retrieve information that an ancient plant had stored away.
Benenzia had also had to take her leave of him. Apparently, an issue at Peak 15 on Noveria and with Seran currently on the run Benezia went to investigate. She still had resources she can fall to that would allow her to avoid detection. But alone he tried to think of a way to beat Shepard. Seran was not worried, John Shepard was a human, but one can never be too sure. After all, why else would he send assassins after the Quarian, not that it mattered in the end.
Just then he heard movement behind him followed by gun fire and finally two clanks of Geth corpses. Looking to the source Seran saw a woman had entered the room her hands glowing with a violet energy and on either side of her were a pair of Geth dead and broken.
"You have a lot of nerve coming here." Seran said glaring at the hooded woman.
"Trust me I am a great many things, Seran." The woman said as she practically hovered into the room her face hidden by her hood. "And right now, you need allies do you not?" She asked as she entered the room.
"Why would I need your help?" Seran asked glaring at the woman.
"I've heard that many times before, 'why should I trust you?' What do you have to offer?" I've heard it all before Seran." The woman said as she then stopped a few feet from his throne. "I know what you intend to do but John Sheperd the first human... SPECTRE may be the least of your concerns." The woman said as she approached Seran.
"He was hardly a concern to begin with." Seran scoffed but the woman begged to differ.
"On the contrary I've seen his sort, a paragon who will keep fighting even when the odds are against him." The woman said making it clear the sort of person Shepard was. "He will conquer every obstacle in his path even your, 'ship,' won't be able to turn him." She said showing she had seen it all before. "But your weapon will pale in comparison to another that is about to awaken." She said trying to get Seran to listen. "A weapon capable of killing Reapers." She said and thus Seran was intrigued.
"What is this weapon called?" Seran asked with a raised brow. "And who are you anyway?" Seran asked as he looked to the woman.
She then smirked and raised her head to reveal violet skin, long disheveled white hair, and finally topaz yellow eyes. "You may call me... Haggar." The woman now known as Haggar introduced. "And as for the weapon... it is called... Voltron." She said and thus now Seran wanted to hear more.
(Scene Break the Normandy)
Shepard had just gotten through a team meeting with his crew after adding Liara to the Normandy's crew. Of course, one of the first things he did was check in on his crew make sure that everyone was doing ok. Ashley was warming up to the aliens of the crew and Tali was a ball of energy as well. Kaiden was of course always reading to go, and Joker was now heading to their first destination to investigate Seran's movements. Zhu's Hope was their target because the location had gone silent meaning, they had to see what was going on there.
Shepard had just finished up talking to Wrex and Garrus and had entered the main combat bridge. That changed when an alert came on for him. "Commander you're getting a call says its urgent." Joker said over the intercom which got John's attention.
"Urgent how?" John asked as he looked to Joker.
"Well, it was forwarded from Anderson and Udina seems to think you need to handle this quietly." Joker said as the Normandy's pilot got Shepard's attention. "Something about getting your house in order." Joker said and thus Shepard knew what Joker was talking about.
"Kalvin." Shepard sighed as he knew what was going on. "What did you do now?" Shepard bemoaned knowing he had to make a detour before the boy does anything else. "Joker set course for those coordinates... I need to deal with this in person." Shepard said as he knew the boy was becoming a problem with each passing year.
Ashley saw this as she passed by apparently leaving something in the meeting room. As she saw Shepard head to prepare, she looked to him. "Hey skipper is everything ok?" Ashley asked as she looked to John.
"Yeah, Wilsom let's just say that I have an issue with family that I need to deal with." Shepard said as he knew the sooner this is done the sooner; they can get back to what they were doing.
"Family but I thought." Ashley began but then Shepard sighed.
"Not from there." John said and thus Ashley got the memo.
"Oh." Ashley said as she then saw what this meant.
"Wait your saying." She began but then Shepard cut her off.
"I'll explain later." John said as he did not want to talk about his son like this.
(Scene Break Mindoir)
A quick Relay Jump and the Normandy was docking in Mindoir for Shepard to deal with the latest issue from his son. HE headed off alone, but Kaiden and Ashley came along in case Seran had sent people after the kid. So here he was walking into holding cell where a 16-year-old boy was seen sitting on a bench with his hands behind his back. He was dressed in a pair of jeans, a red flight jacket, and a white shirt. His boots were pretty common around these parts as his black hair framed his face and his angular eyes.
"Commander Shepard." Came the guard as he approached Shepard. "Sir I have to say I heard all about it, you the first human SPECTRE." The guard said and thus John sighed to this.
"Thank you but I have other matters to deal with." John said being nice about it as the guard nodded. The boy had been in the cell for a couple of days so for him this was just another Monday. "Kalvin." John greeted as he looked at his son.
The boy, Kalvin opened his eyes and glared at his father standing outside his jail cell. "Pops." Kalvin responded with a cold yet angry tone.
John sighed and then directed his attention to the guard. "I'll sign off on any papers and pay for any damages he caused." John said as Ashely and Kaiden were listening in from outside.
"Right this way please." The guard said and thus Shepard went to handle it.
Ashley looked over to Kaiden as she had a question. "So did you know he had a kid?" Ashley asked as Kaiden shrugged.
"Heard about it, but never talked about it... I'm starting to see why." Kaiden said as he saw that Kalvin was a problem child.
(Later outside)
"Do you have any idea the trouble you've caused?!" John asked as he had his son by his shoulder pushing him out of the jail.
"Oh, what oh so important mission did I screw up for the great hero commander Shepard." Kalvin said as the tone he used full of disrespect and sarcasm.
"Watch your mouth Kalvin." John said as he looked to his son with a scolding tone.
"Or what?" Kalvin asked and thus John growled with frustration. "You'll just head off again the minute you get your orders, Mr. SPECTRE." Kalvin said and thus Kayden grunted a bit.
"Jeez and my dad thought I was difficult." Kayden said as John glared at his friend for that.
"Do you ever think about military school?" Ashley offered which got an annoyed look from Shepard there as well.
"Let's just get him home and finish refueling the Normandy." John said as he kept pushing Kalvin.
(Later the Shepard Residence)
Needless to say, when the trio got to Shepard's house it was clear that it was not the best. Nothing like a landfill but more like the type of place a teenager would live in. Dishes piled in the sink, soda cans made into a pyramid, and random magazine scattered about. When the two group had arrived Kalvin had headed to his bedroom so Shepard can figure out how to deal with this.
Sitting on the table Shepard sighed as he rubbed his face with frustration. "Sorry you two had to see all of that." Shepard said as he looked to his squad mates from the Normandy crew.
"It's no problem, my sisters went through that phase herself." Ashley said as she had seen it all before. "Surprise his mom isn't handling this." Ashley said but John sighed.
"She's no longer around." John said as the tone she used Ashley put it together.
"I'm so sorry Shepard." Ashley said realizing Shepard had it rough.
"It's fine... I try my best, but I can't get through to him like she could." John said knowing that his son was acting out.
"I can see why Udina had you come deal with this." Kaiden said as he knew what this would do. "If a SPECTRE can't keep his home in order that would look bad on humanity." Kaiden said tossing an empty can over to the recycling bin.
"Yeah, and with this stuff going on with Seran." Ashley trailed off as John sighed.
"I won't have time to deal with this not with an important mission like this." John said as he was focusing on the mission.
"Yeesh kicked out of Girrosom Academy for behavioral issues." Kaiden said as he found the young Shepard's expulsion letter in a pile of papers.
"Yeah, one of our bigger arguments." John said recalling that incident. His son stormed out and hadn't come back until early the next morning. When he did Shepard had to leave for deployment again and caused more friction between them.
"Must be hard... living in the shadow of the great Commander Shepard." Ashley said as she had a good hunch over what Kayden was feeling.
(Meanwhile with Kalvin)
Kalvin could hear them talking as he growled to this and hopped onto his bed. His room was messy... very messy. Taking out his Omni-tool Kalvin checked in on the Extra Net to see what was going on. Just then a knock came to his window and looking it Kalvin saw a familiar face on it.
"Yo Kalvin!" Came the voice of a familiar friend of his.
"Leon." Kalvin chuckled as he opened the window.
"So, you they let you out of the pokey." Leon said as behind him were the rest of his group. A bulky young man with a bandanna likely in their age group, a black-haired male standing next to him at the age of seventeen, and a girl with glasses possibly fifteen judging by the face she's the shortest.
"Yeah, all I had to do was bring my, famous hero father, and they let me off." Kalvin said showing he didn't sound proud of that.
"So vhy are you sulking." The eldest one said as he had an accent.
"Well, if you must know Sven his dad is currently in the house." The girl said as she saw them arrive earlier. "I also saw this new ship land I'm guessing it's your dads and..." She said and realized that Kalvin was not amused.
"Not helping Penny." Leon said to the girl as they got down to it. "So, we're going to head out to the outskirts do some exploring you in?" Leon asked as he looked to the group. "Howard is providing food." Leon added as Howard glared for a bit.
"But I'm always the one cooking." Howard complained but Sven laughed.
"Because v'our so good at it." Sven said as his Norwegian accent added to his charm.
"True." Howard said as he didn't like to brag but he was a damn good cook.
"I'm in." Kalvin said as hoped out of the window and joined the others outside closing it on his way out. "Better bolt before my pops comes to check in." Kalvin said making it clear they needed to go.
"Way ahead of you." Leon said pointing to a car nearby that would ferry them off. The group headed to the car, boarded it with Sven at the driver's seat and in turn they all drove off.
(Later with Shepard)
"He was pretty young when his mother passed away, I thought giving him some space would help him, but now I know I should have been there for him," John said as he sat on the couch for a bit as Ashley soon said, "Sorry to hear commander."
"What am I going to do now? I can't stay here to watch over him, and I can't ask the anyone to watch him, as much as I want to do that," John said as Kaiden soon suggested, "Well we can always bring him along, given the situation that we're still chasing Seran, a good chance he may know about Kalvin if he ever read your personnel files, and sense your became a SPECTRE, who know maybe someone would come after him and force you to quit."
"You can't be serious, sir?" Ashley question her superior while Kaiden said, "I'm just thinking realistic, as even if no one does come after him, the commander can keep coming back here for his son if he get into trouble again while we're on a mission to stop Seran, the best scenario is to keep him on the ship to keep a close eye on him, and heck maybe even get him to learn a thing or two while on board."
"But we can't bring along our mission, it would be too dangerous to do so, we're better off bring him to the citadel," Ashley suggested as Kaiden said, "We can't just drop him off at the Citadel hoping the alliance could maybe do something about him, the council may question our actions wondering why we're bring the son of our commander there for protection."
"Well, it's better than bring him on dangerous mission," Ashley said as Kaiden just argue to her saying, "Then let's leave to the command to choose as it's his choice of what to do for his son."
Both of them look to John Shepard looking for an answer of what to do as both of them have good points, but it was his choice to make as he give a sigh as he thought for a moment and said, "Let me talk to my Kalvin first, as much I don't like it it's his choice as well."
He wanted to give his son a choice at lease as if he doesn't no doubt, he could cause more problem than needed, with both Ashley and Kaiden look to their commander as he got up and walk up the stair to his son's room as they hope for the best as John reach Kalvin's door as he knock on it loud enough for anyone to hear as he said, "Kalvin, can we talk? I know this sudden, but a lot has been happening lately that I can't keep you home anymore, as I'm gonna bring you along with me, but I just don't want you to think you won't have a choice in this, as you do Kalvin, but I can't do it behind a door."
After a moment he didn't hear Kalvin say anything as he knocks again as he calls out, "Kalvin can you hear me?"
Again, no reply as he sighed as he did knock twice so there shouldn't be any problem. In his head if Kalvin was listening to music to ignore him, he has another thing coming. So, he put his hand on the doorknob to find that it was unlocked which is surprising for him. But John take it as such as he said out loud, "I'm coming in Kalvin."
With that as he turn the doorknob and open the door and to his shock, yet should have expected it, he saw that Kalvin was gone and he left his window open too. It was clear that the boy went out through the window to sneak out. He then saw a car driving off in the distant which was too far out to catch up on foot and wouldn't catch them in time either which he knew wasn't his ride as he said, "Damn it Kalvin."
He quickly headed back downstairs as the duo waited for Shepard to come down with his son but saw he was coming alone as Ashley ask," What wrong commander?"
"Kalvin just escape out the window and I think he friends took him out for a ride," John said a bit frustrated as he can't believe his son is doing this as Kaiden said, "In a way, I'm surprise he has friends."
"Do you need our help to find him?" Ashley offer to help with Kaiden nodded agreeing to this as John said, "I got no choice it seem, let move out I'll put in a call to joker to see if he can track him down."
"understood," Kaiden said as all of them headed out to their ride as John put in a call to Joker as he said, "Joker do you read me?"
"Loud and clear commander, something wrong?" Joker said on the coms as John said to him, "I need to see if you can track down a certain car."
(with Kalvin and his friends)
The group was cheering out as they drive out to the middle of nowhere to find a place to lay low for a while as Kalvin said while smiling with his hair blowing in the wind, "Man I really needed this, if I stay in that house any longer with my dad still there."
"Not a problem bro, it's just us on an adventure with no parents telling us what to do, just sweet-sweet adventuring" Leon said as he drove his car out with Penny was holding up a scanner of sort as she was trying to pick up on something or tracking something down as Kalvin said, "So Penny what's with the fancy low tech you got there, the campus catch on what you were doing?"
"No, but they were suspecting me of taking some borrowed equipment, so I scavenge stuff from the old military warehouse sense they just store old equipment there which is just a waste if you ask me," Penny said as she adjusted the scanning with Kalvin soon ask, "So what are you scanning for anyways? An alien spaceship to get us off planet?"
"It's a biometric scanner prototype I made and putting to use, and I've been picking what seem to be a strange Fraunhofer line," Penny said as Kalvin ask, "What so strange about a Fraunhofer line, I mean it's just measuring an element signature right?"
"You would think that, but this element signature doesn't belong to this world, or any other world for that matter," Penny said as Leon went on saying, "She said she wanted to find this new element thingy and ask me for a ride, so I took it as get away from everyone and have fun, so I invited the rest of the gang to come along as well for a camping trip of sort."
"it's sounded vun to do so I agree to come along as vell," Sven said with Howard spoken up next as he said, "And I had nothing better to do at home, so I came along as well, I just wasn't expected to be ask to bring my portable gas burner along as well."
"Well how else were you gonna cooked stuff on? I only brought the cooking pot with me," Leon said as Kalvin soon said, "Well whatever the reason, thanks for getting me I guess, so where is this weird element thing at anyways?"
"We're just about there, somewhere at those mountain?" penny points out to the mountain peaks ahead as Leon keep on driving and didn't look back.
A little later as the group came upon an open area as Leon open the back of his car to pull out some pop-up tents as he throw some tent stuff down to the ground which "Popped" up some tents as he said, "Done!"
Penny was also unloading some heavier equipment and hand it over to Leon which looks like a big Geiger counter as he said, "Why am I the one holding this?"
"Because it's too heavy for me to carry and you always said you're a gentleman to help out any girls… so your helping me holding this," Penny said as he smack on his shoulder as Howard already set up a table and stuff as he put his back on its as he said, "So where are we looking exactly?"
"Something that putting off the strange element reading, if we can somehow narrow down the location of the spot we could find this new element," Penny said as she held up a piece of paper with strange lines on it as Kalvin look at it and said, "what's that?"
"The Fraunhofer line, this is what it looks like, as if I can locate the source of this, we may be on the road of a great discovery sense when humanity first discover of alien technology on mars," Penny said as Kalvin looks at the paper then notice something as he said, "Hey, you see that?"
"See what?" Penny said as Leon came over and said, "What's up?"
"See those mountain over there," Kalvin pointed out to the mountain as he points to the paper and said, "Doesn't those mountain look similar to this Fraunhofer line?"
"Hu?" Penny said as she compare the line to the mountain line with the group all came together and saw for themselves and to their surprise as Penny held up the paper to line up with the mountain… it matches up perfectly as Leon said, "Dude, I think you may be onto something."
"That's so steravge" Svan said as he saw the line himself and can't believe he was seeing it for himself as Howard said as he held up a frying pan, "Doesn't that mean I should hold off on cooking then?"
(later)
The group hike up to the mountain as they started to investigate it with Leon using the Geiger counter as it was making a lot of sound showing they were on the right track as he said, "Well I can say this must be the right place."
"Are you guy's sure we should we doing this? Howard question a bit worry about this and a bit worn out a bit as he took a moment to catch his breath as he went on saying, "shouldn't we, I don't know call for qualified people to do this, I mean five teens in the middle of nowhere looking for an unknown element? I mean who to say it not radioactive and we may get cancer or something?"
"Relax, if it was highly radioactive my equipment should have picked up on it, but as far as I can tell, this element is stable, which is why I'm having a hard time locking down its location, which thankfully the mountain formation was a nice break at least."
"Hey guys there a cave up ahead!" Kalvin said as he point it out as Leon was up front with the machine as he points to it showing a strong reading to it as he said, "Guys I think we found it."
The group came up to the cave as they have flashlights on and shining around and to their surprise, the group found carvings in the cave… of lions as Leon said, "Okay, this is weird."
"Did someone already beat us here to the element?" Kalvin said as Penny examined the carving closely and rub her finger against as she said, "No… this is old, way older than the human settlement on this world when humanity first arrived, no this was done maybe thousands of years ago."
"I wonder who made vem?" Svan said as the group walk deeper into the cave as Howard still looking worry as he said, "Come on guys can we call Kalvin's dad to come and look at this."
"Yeah, there no way I'm calling my dad to come out here and ruin the fun, come one this is getting interesting," He said as he was enjoying this so far as Leon came up to the drawing on the wall as he suddenly heard something as he look around and went, "Hmm?"
"Something wrong Leon?" Penny ask him as Leon soon said, "Ah…Well." Before he could say anything else he heard the sound again this time it was clear like a roar… a lions roar as he freak out a bit as he said, "ah are there mountain lions here?"
"Mountain lions?" everyone question as Kalvin asked his best friend, "Hey what wrong man?"
"Come on man didn't you hear it? It was a big fucking lion roar or something," Leon said as the group still looks confused as Svan, "Ahh Leon there vas, no voaring."
"Yeah, if there was, you think all of us would have heard it as well?" Penny said as Leon said, "I swear I sounded like a lion roar, or at least a big cat of sort."
"Like that?" Kalvin said as he pointed a flashlight on a carving of a lion that seem to be surrounded by fire, as Leon said to him, "Oh real funny, but seriously its sounded like a real lion not these carving."
Reaching out and touch the carving straight out before suddenly the carving started glowing bright red as everyone was freaking out as Howard said, "Penny, what's going on?"
"How should I know?" Penny said as Howard said to her, "You're the smart one."
Unaware to the group, the ground was forming cracks below them as Penny started saying "Yeah but that doesn't mean I'm an expert in th- AHHHH!"
Everyone yell out as the ground below them collapse and made them fall down a tunnel which seem like a big slide of sort as it was pretty smooth and shining like glass as they all scream before arriving to a big cavern area as they all fell down and hit the ground hard as they all groan in pain as Kalvin said, "who's not dead… sound off?"
Everyone just groan again before they all got up as Leon saw the Geiger counter in his hand was now broken as he said, "Ahh, sorry penny I broke your thingy."
"Hey where's that light coming from?" Howard said as everyone look and to their surprise, they saw something in the center of the cavern which look like a giant red lion in a blue bubble of sort as Penny said, "Is that a robot?"
"Did the alliance made Vis?" Svan said as he was questioning on the giant robot as Kalvin said in a sarcastic tone, "Oh sure, they making giant robot lion and put it in an underground cave in the middle of nowhere."
Penny look around and felt the ground as she saw there was ash around as she said, "Ah guys… we maybe in a volcano pocket."
"It maybe dormant, as long we don't get set off any explosions, we should be good," Kalvin said as he look around the area and hope he is right as the group walk up to the red lion robot as Leon as looking at it as he was getting a strange feeling from it as he move from side to side as he said, "Ah guys… I think that lion is looking at me?"
"First you hear a lion roar, now you think it's looking at you?" Penny said as Leon keep moving around as he said, "I swear its looking at me or at least at us."
Svan move around but saw no movement in its eyes as he said, "There vis no movement from the lion."
The group was upon the bubble as Kalvin put his hand on it as he said, "It's some sort of forcefield."
"Wow, I know their armor shield for combat situation, but I never seen anything like this before, I wonder how we can get inside?" Penny said as Leon came up and said, "Maybe we knock?"
In a joking manner as I knock on the forcefield and suddenly the entire room was filled with a bright light as tis flash out blinding everyone while also they saw a vision of sort as they saw not only the red lion but four other lions with a black one being the biggest of them all as they all fly in a formation and suddenly form together into a giant humanoid robot with a voice echoing through their mind.
"Voltron"
With that the vision ended with everyone shock by this as they could not believe of what they just saw.
"Did you all just catch that?" Leon asked and all he got was a collective nod from everyone.
"This thing its one part of a much bigger robot." Penny gasped as she looked at the robot lion.
"You mean like that show from the 21 century... Neon Genesis Evangelion?" Howard asked as he looked to the group.
"Not exactly Evangelion were bio mechs cloned from." Penny began but then Kalvin cut her off.
"Focus." Kalvin reminded as he knew Penny tended to ramble.
"Right sorry." Penny said as Leon looked at the Lion.
"The barrier is down." Leon said noting that the barrier was gone.
"So now what we can't go out the way we came." Howard said and thus Kalvin looked at the Lion for a moment.
"Well, this thing got in here somehow... maybe it can find us a way out." Kalvin suggested and thus the group looked to him in shock.
"But how vill ve get inside?" Sven asked as Leon then raised his hand.
"Maybe just ask it?" Leon asked and all of a sudden, the Red Lion lowered its head and opened its maw to them. "Uh maybe it will start raining credits?!" Leon asked as he looked to the sky. He stood there for a moment as he looked to the sky. "I'm waiting!" He called only for Penny to pass by him and slap the boy upside the head while they headed towards the Lion's maw.
(Later inside the Red Lion)
"Incredible." Penny said as she looked around the ship. "This machine had been inert for Lord knows how long and yet still looks like new." Penny said as she looked around the cockpit with Leon leading the way. "We show this off to the alliance and we'll be famous. Just imagine the sort of machines they'll make with it." Penny added as she could already see it.
"First we need to get out of the cave." Kalvin reminded as Leon got to the cockpits chair. "And to do that we need to figure out how this thing works." Kalvin said as soon Leon took a seat on the chair. When he did the chair suddenly moved on its own causing Leon to cry out in shock when he was pushed towards the controls.
"Wow how did you do that?!" Howard asked shocked that had happened.
"I don't know I just sat down!" Howard defended as he honestly had no idea how that worked.
"Well, any idea how to get this thing moving?" Kalvin asked as he looked to Leon.
"Weird thing about that... I think I do." Leon said as the group looked surprised.
"Vhat's impossible." Sven said as he saw what Leon was saying.
"I know it sound crazy but... if I press this and." Leon began as he started to press a button and grabbing the controls. When he did that's when the fun began.
(Later Outside of the Cave)
The mountain broke apart as soon the Red Lion shot out of the mountain tearing its way through with a roar. The group inside the lion all began screaming and panicking as they held on to whatever handle they could. The Lion was running about and jumping as it seemed to be getting a bit of a warmup oddly enough. Of course, no one inside the red lion was enjoying it not even the one flying it.
"Leon! You! are the worst! Pilot! EVER!" Kalvin called out as the Red Lion moved around the area.
"Shut up!" Leon countered as he held on to the Lion's controls.
"Kalvin call your dad!" Howard cried out as he wanted off this crazy ride.
"Leon pull over!" Kalvin called out as he rather not call his father.
"I'm trying!" Leon called but the Lion wasn't cooperating with him.
"Goddammit." Kalvin growled as he then activated his Omni-Tool to contact his father.
(Meanwhile on the Normandy)
Shepard and his team arrived back at the Normandy when alert started flashing all over the place. "What's going on?" Shepard asked as he got to the cockpit.
"Uh... that." Joker said pointing to the sight of the Red Lion running around the area.
"Is it one yours?" Garrus asked as he looked to Shepard.
"I thought it was one of yours." Shepard said as he never heard of a machine like that.
"First I've seen of it." Ashley said as she saw the robot.
"Strange... that creature it almost seems... alive." Liara said as she also bore witness to the Lion.
Just then Shepard's Omni-Tool went off causing him to see. "Kalvin?" Shepard asked as he made sure no one was paying attention. Kalvin where the heck are you?" Shepard asked but then got yelling from the other end.
"Dad! No time we're inside a giant robot red lion, Leon is behind the wheel, and we can't stop it!" Kalvin yelled as Shepard went wide eyed. HE then looked to the Lion and thus back to the Omni-Tool.
"Kalvin calm down and." He began before another yell came from it.
Looking he saw the Lion was now taking off. "Kal!" Shepard called and thus he got the crew's attention.
"Joker no time, Kal is in that thing we need lift off now!" Shepard called as a panicked father.
"Right Commander." Joker said as he got around to heading towards lift off.
(Back with the Red Lion)
The group all screamed in panic as the Red Lion took off to the sky and towards space. "Vhere, is it taking us?!" Sven cried out as the Lion was breaking through the atmosphere.
"I don't know its saying something about returning to base!" Leon cried out but Penny was lost.
"How do you know!?" Penny asked as she looked to Leon.
"It just told me!" Leon said and then heard something else. "Now it's saying we got a ship on our tail!" HE said and thus Kalving had a hunch.
"Show us!" He called out and in turn the Lion glanced behind them and saw the Normandy following them. "It's friendly! It's friendly!" Kalvin said as he did not want his dad blown up or worse.
(On the Normandy)
"Stay on that things tail!" Shepard called as he looked to Joker.
"Way ahead of you." Joker responded as he saw put the pedal to the metal and chased after the ship. Joker can get that with his kid inside that runaway machine Shepard was desperate. After all Shepard was the survivor of Mindior back when those Batarian slavers had moved in and slaughtered his colony. Losing the last bit of family, he has left has no doubt pushed Shepard to the limit.
"Uh commander." Kaiden began as he saw something appearing in their view.
"Spirits/Ke-laah." Garrus and Tali both gasped as they saw it as well.
(Back with the Lion)
"Holy shit!" Penny gasped as she saw a massive portal had appeared in front of them and the Lion was flying straight for it.
"Well, that seems concerning." Howard said as he saw the massive portal in their direction.
"The Lion its saying to go in." Leon suddenly said as they saw the wormhole in their path.
"Are you nuts?!" Penny yelled as she looked at Leon and the portal. "We have no idea where that thing goes?!" She yelled looking at Leon and pointing to the portal.
"Well, it's either go in or we step out and I don't think any of us can survive the vacuums of space." Leon said as Kalvin had to admit Leon had a point.
"Dad..." Kalvin began as he spoke into his Omni-Tool. "Listen we can't change the lions trajectory so we might be going on a trip." Kalvin said seeing no other option.
"Kal listen try and override it." Shepard said as he was not about to let this happen.
"We've already tried!" Kalvin said as he looked to Leon who showed that the controls weren't budging. "We don't have time to argue but I need you to trust me." He said as he just had this feeling.
"It's now or never guys hold on!" Leon called out and thus it was clear on what was to happen.
(Meanwhile over in the Normandy)
"Commander orders?!" Joker asked because he wasn't feeling too hot about this.
"Shepard." Ashley said knowing this was do or die.
Growling a bit Shepard knew to save his kid he had to go for it. "Follow that Lion and pray." Shepard said though the last part to his himself.
"Pray I can do that." Ashley said and soon it was full speed ahead.
(Outside)
The Lion flew into the wormhole and the Normandy followed close on its tail. Everyone cried out to this but as they entered the portal closed behind them making this a one-way trip. Wherever the portal would lead one thing was certain and that was the Normandy crew was following the lion to a new adventure.
(On the other side of the wormhole)
A second wormhole opened over an unknown planet and from it the Red Lion flew out followed by the Normandy. As both machines flew over the planet it was clear that they have arrived at their destination.
(The Normandy)
Shepard moaned in pain as the entire crew were feeling the effects of this call. "Show of hands who's dead?" Shepard asked as he had a murderous migraine now.
"Aye." Ashley moaned as she held herself against the nearby wall.
"Joker where are we?" Tali asked as she needed answers just as everyone else did.
"Well good news is we're alive bad news... we're lost." Joker said as his instruments didn't recognize where they were.
"Kalvin can you hear me?" Shepard asked into his Omni Tool.
It was only a moment of silence before Kalvin responded. "Yeah, I can hear you." Kalvin said as he spoke into the Omni Tool. "We're all accounted for." He added and thus Shepard sighed in relief.
"Good." Shepard said before focusing on the crew.
"The Lion is starting to go towards the planet bellow looks like it's about to land." Kalvin said and thus Shepard nodded.
"Wilco we'll meet you down there." Shepard said and thus he looked to Joker. "Joker scan the planet's atmosphere and bring us down for a landing." Shepard said and thus Joker nodded.
"Aye sir." Joker said and thus began the landing protocols.
(Later on, the Planet's surface)
The Red Lion and the Normandy made its way towards the planet and flew above the surface. Judging by the trees it would seem that life was sustainable on this planet. "Look at that." Penny said pointing to a structure at the distance.
"Looks like a castle." Howard agreed as they approached the large castle in the distance.
"Looks like the Lion is taking us there." Kalvin said as they got close to the large castle.
"It looks so clean." Penny said as she noted the castle as well.
(Later at the Castle)
The Lion landed on the cliff before the steps leading into the castle while the Normandy landed not too far away. The Lion seemed to glare at a corpse kneeled before the castle before lowering its head and allowing the passengers out. "Freedom sweet freedom!" Howard cried out happy to be out of the death trap.
"Look at this place!" Penny said as she looked at it while adjusting her glasses. "It's ancient but still looks new." She said admiring the scene before her.
"Ancient right." Kalvin said as he looked over to the corpse they happened upon. The guy was in red armor and had the remains of a cape draped around his shoulders. Kalvin noticed something in the corpses hand and reached out towards it.
"Kalvin respect ze dead." Sven urged as he saw what Kalvin was doing.
"I'm just going to look." Kalvin said as he took the item from the hand and was surprised at how easily it slipped out looking at the item, he was then amazed at how it gave off a violet light and shifted in his hand to a new form. It was similar to the initial handle like form but less demonic looking. It was primarily white with a black secondary color. Soon enough it flashed to life and from there formed into a blade causing everyone to gasp at this.
"Wow watch it!" Leon called out as even Kalvin was caught off guard by it.
"Cool." Kalvin said as he did a few test swings and saw how it felt in his hand.
"Kal!" John was heard and from the Normandy the group saw Shepard running over to them with Ashley, Kaiden, Liara, Garrus, and Wrex in tow.
"Never thought I'd be glad to see you." Kalvin said as he looked to his old man. "So, any idea where in Alliance or Citadel Space we are?" Kalvin asked and thus John sighed to this.
"Can't tell you, because we aren't in either." John said to the younger Shepard.
"Well shit." Leon said realizing they were lost in space. The blade Kalvin had retracted back to its handle form and thus he shrugged and pocketed it.
"Wait we're lost in space?!" Howard asked shocked and scared.
"Vait hold it." Sven spoke to calm down Howard. "Ve aren't vost if ve lion brought us here it can take us vack." Sven said as he gestured to the Lion that lead them here. But before anyone can answer the Lion roared out causing the group to panic.
"It's attack!" Wrex called as the Krogan got his shot gun out.
"Don't eat me!" Howard called out but then they heard movement from the castle and saw the doors opening.
"Ok false alarm it was opening the door." Ashley said as she saw that the doors were open.
"Do we go in?" Penny asked as she adjusted her glasses curious as to what was inside.
"Ashley, Tali, and Garrus, you four with me, maybe we can find a star map or something." Shepard began as he looked to the group. "The rest of you stay with kids and we'll be back." John said as Kalvin rolled his eyes to this. But just as they began to approach the Red Lion acted and moved to stop them acting as a guard now. It snarled forcing the four to step back.
"Uh I don't think it will let you guys in without us." Leon said as he raised his hand to this.
"How can you be so sure?" Liara asked only for Penny to be heard.
"Because I made it passed it!" Penny was seen at the steps closest to the Lion showing that it was not harming her.
"Vell vat happened." Sven said as he pointed his thumb over to Penny.
"Commander." Kaiden said as Shepard sighed to this.
"I know I'm going to regret this." John said and thus he knew what they needed to do.
(Later inside the Castle)
Shepard and his team entered the castle with Shepard taking point, Ashley and Garrus at his back, and Wrex took up the rear. With them Liara, Tali, and Kaiden were accompanying the five teens as they were exploring the darkened castle.
"Everyone keep your eyes peeled." John said as he lead the group through the castle. Just as Leon said the Lion would not let them through without the teens. Apparently, the kids were welcomed but the Normandy crew had to stay out unless they accompany the teens.
"So... my pops never mentioned any of you." Kalvin said referring to Shepard's team. "I met you two at least." Kalvin said gesturing to Ashley and Kaiden.
"We're more or less new." Liara said assuring Kalvin he was amongst friends.
"Some more than others." Wrex added with a chuckle.
"So, your dad made friends with a Turian cop, an Asari scientist, a Quarian pilgrim, and a Krogan badass." Leon said as he saw the scene. "Dude how are you and your dad on bad terms again?" Leon joked as Kalvin ignored him.
"I like this kid." Wrex said as he smirked knowing what the term badass meant.
"I assume Kalvin and his father are not close?" Liara asked as she saw this.
"Unfortunately, not." Penny said as she had only Kalvin's side of the story. "By the way I don't think any of us have been properly introduced yet." Penny added and thus a proper introduction was in order. "Penny Holt." Penny introduced as she started things off.
"Howard Garret." Howard introduced.
"Leon McLain." Leon added while staying with his friends.
"Sven Holgersson." Sven introduced next as everyone already knows Kalvin Shepard.
"Well me." Liara began as they kept their voices down in case of surprises. "Liara T'Soni I was studying Prothean ruins before meeting your father, Kalvin." Liara said and thus Kalvin let it be.
"Tali'Zorah nar Rayya." Tali said introducing herself. "Just call me Tali." She said not wanting them to do the whole name for their own sake.
"Wrex." Wrex introduced as the largest of the group stayed close.
"Garrus." Garrus finished as Shepard was glad that the team was keeping thing friendly for the teens. If it kept them calm, then they can be in and out like nothing. "Never took the Commander for a family man honestly." Garrus said as he looked over to Kalvin.
"Trust me he's not." Kalvin snapped as John just looked away from this and focused on the current task. Clearly there was a lot of tension between father and son a lot of unresolved issues that needed to be sorted out.
But soon lights came on in here as everyone gasped in shock as a blue light shined down upon them. "Hold for Identity Scan." A computerized voice said as the blue light scanned them as a light traveled across their bodies scanning them.
Shepard call out to the voice in a demanding tone, "What is this place? Why did you bring civilian here, what do you want?"
There was no respond from the voice as Wrex said, "Some V.I program that was." Then suddenly more lights started to turn on showing the hallway with some of the Normandy crew were breath taken by the inside of the castle as the lights keep turning on, as Penny look to the hallway and said, "I guess we go that way?"
"Stay together and keep an eye out for anything," John said as he and the group move on as they keep walking through the castle with lights turning on as they went on, what Shepard didn't like this as he knew there should be at least one living person here, but so far there was none, no life, no machine, nothing but an automatic system with Howard soon calls out, "Hello?"
His voice echo but still no reply with Ashley 'Shushed' him as she said in a whisper, "Stay quite we don't know what we're walking into yet."
"If someone wanted to attack us, they should have done it by now," Kaiden said as Garrus soon said, "So we're either may be walking into a trap."
"Or someone has invited us in," Liara said as she hope it was the latter as she really wanted to talk to the person about this castle
Soon enough the group arrived at a larger chamber where Tali was the first to speak. "Call me crazy but this looks like a control room and not a throne room." Tali said as she had seen enough ships to recognized the control room of one.
"I feel obliged to agree." John said as he looked to the controls seeing things one would normally find on a ship.
Just then the controls all flashed to life and from there gears turned and steam blew as the room activated. Then the floors shifted as from them two sleep pods rose from the ground. Shepard recognized a sleep pod when he saw one as did the Normandy's team. From the looks of it the pods were in use as while the glass was not as transparent it gave them a general outline of a male and a female.
"Yo are these guys alive in there?" Leon asked as Tali did not think so. But Liara was inspecting the pods regardless.
"It doesn't seem to be, these are cryogenic chambers, they are meant to preserve life, but I never seen any so sophisticated," Liara said as she look to the pods themselves as she had seen similar pods in Prothean ruins and locations where Prothean may have resided in but never like this.
"Impossible if this castle has been around for as long as we think it was then for all we know those are corpses of a." Tali began but was then cut off when the pods activated and the first one came undone. The blue shell vanished into sparkles of stardust as it released the denizen inside of it.
The woman inside wore a long blue and white dress, had dark colored skin, sea-foam colored hair that descended in long waves down her back, pink crescent shapes around her eyes, as well as pointy elf-like ears with purple triangle shaped earrings. And to top it off, she had a golden circlet diadem around her forehead. She looked very similar to some elfish people found in some popular videogames on Earth. But the most notable thing about her is that she looked no older than sixteen. Yet her outfit clearly shown that she came from a wealthy upbringing.
The woman's eyes snapped open as she gasped, extending her hand as if to grab something that was in front of her, even though nothing was there.
"Father!" She cried as she stumbled out of the pod and would've fallen if not for Kalvin acting and catching her. Reach out while the girl was falling down Kalvin quickly reached out and caught her before she could fall as Leon said, "Ah man I was gonna do that."
"Easy you've been asleep for a long time." John said as they were now making first contact with a previously unknown alien race.
"Who are you? Where am I?" the girl demanded suddenly, speaking in a thick British accent that the group here all silently swore she was from Earth.
"I'm Commander John Shepard with the System Alliance I'm a SPECTRE of the Citadel." John introduced as he tried to keep the girl calm. He was surprised over how easily she spoke English.
"SPECTRE? Citadel? What is who are?" She asked clearly never hearing of those terms. But then her eyes caught site of Kalvin's ears which drew her attention. "You're… ears." She began as she saw the ears in question as everyone was confused at her comment.
"What about them?" Kalvin asked as he was left confused by this.
"They're hideous." she said bluntly making everyone got confused. "What's wrong with them?" She asked as it was like ears being round was unheard of for her.
"I should be asking you that my ears are." He began but was caught off guard when she acted and gripped his ear, twisted him around, and forced him onto his knees as she also held his right arm behind his back. For a slim looking girl, she was incredibly strong, and everyone were ready to draw weapons on her.
"Who are you?!" the girl demanded. "Where is King Alfor?! What are you doing in my castle?!" She demanded interrogating Kalvin. Technically speaking she was in the right since they were the ones who waltz in uninvited. So, John had to signal his team to keep their guns lowered for the time being less they cause an intergalactic incident.
"Easy a giant red lion brought us here and these guys chased it down to save us." Leon said as he attempted to calm the girl down.
"She must still be disoriented from suspended animation." Liara said as she heard of cases like this with those who had been under for a longer period of time then advised.
"How do you have the Red Lion?" She demanded as she released Kalvin as her eyes then met to all of those in the room with her. More so then that the tone she used suggested that the Red Lion had some sort of sentimental meaning to her.
"Paladin what like a D&D campaign?" Kaiden asked as the girl was trying to make sense of this.
"What are you all doing here? Unless…" She trailed off realizing something wasn't right. "How long has it been?" She asked as everyone looked at each other confused at what she was asking of them seeing no way to tell her when they had no idea themselves.
"Look miss calm down for a minute." John said taking charge of the situation. "Maybe you should start by telling us your name." He said as he had a hunch and if said hunch was right the Council and the Alliance will want to know about this discovery.
"I am Princess Allura of planet Altea." she answered as she approached the central control panel though many of the group here was surprised by the revelation. "I've got to find out where we are, and how long we've been asleep." Allura said as she put her hands on both sides of the control panel, which lit up in bright cyan blue and a translucent screen appeared in the center of it.
"I was wondering what those were for." Tali voiced as Penny had to agree.
"I was going to take them apart later if I could." Penny said as she also was curious, but it looks like it was no longer needed.
As Allura was doing her part Shepard went about to contact the Normandy letting Joker know what they found and possibly have Dr. Chakwas ready to give a medical exam. Suddenly the second pod opened as well, to reveal a tall, white-skinned man with orange hair and a bushy mustache, pointed elf-like ears and blue markings at the corners of his eyes. His eyes landed on Leon causing him to go wide eyed and spring into action.
"Ah! Enemy combatants!" the man exclaimed as he jumped from his pod and attempted to jump kick Leon who quickly moved out of the way. This in turn resulted in the middle-aged man nearly falling to the floor, but he managed to regain his balance by holding onto Allura's sleeping pod.
"Whoa, quiznack! You're lucky I have a case of the old 'sleep chamber knees.'" the man also spoke in a think British accent just like Allura. "Otherwise, I'd grab your head like this, wrap you up like so - and one, two, three - sleepy time!" he said, demonstrating everything with hand gestures and snapped his fingers at the end.
"No offense old timer but you look like you'll trip over your own feet even with your legs awake." Leon said as he saw what had just happened.
"Old timer?!" Corran snapped showing mentions of his age was a sensitive topic for him. But then his eyes laid on Liara who took note of this.
"Can I help you?" Liara asked as Corran approached.
"Oh, my apologies its nothing." Corran said waving off Liara's concern. "I just recalled the last Asari I met though you seem more literate than she was." Corran said as Liara saw the implications of those words.
"Are you implying that?" Liara began but before she could continue a gasp was heard from Allura.
Allura was still at the controls as she was looking for something, and as the console beeped a bit, Allura eyes widen as she said, "It can't be."
"What's is it?" the middle-aged alien man said to Princess Allura with Harry asking, "Is something wrong?"
"We been asleep for over 50,000 years!" Allura said as that surprise everyone around her as well as she stood in place with the camera view.
(Flashback)
The look of Allura slightly change from surprise to completely horrified as the area around glowing bright red and an alien war ship was approaching the ship Allura is on with the middle-aged man and third eldest looking back with white hair and a beard.
As suddenly an alien war lord looking being appeared on screen with his eyes glowing purple and a scar down his left eye, as the older gentleman look to the being before he said, "Zarkon!"
"Your fleet has been destroyed Alfor. I'll be there to shortly claim Voltron." Zarkon said before the screen close down as the war ship in front of them fire a shot which hit greatly against them, but the ship withstood it as Allura turn to her father and said, "Father we must form Voltron and fight before it too late."
"It's already too late. We must send the lions away, we can't risk them fall into Zarkon's hand," Alfor said to his daughter as Allura wasn't going to allow that as she said to her father, "We can't give up hope!"
Alfor step towards Allura as he place his hands on her cheeks as he said to her, "I'm sorry daughter, if all goes well, I will see you again soon."
Alfor let off a bit, but not before he zap Allura with an energy orb of some sort before Allura suddenly felt tired and fall down as Allura reached out as she said, "Father."
"I love you Allura," Alfor said as that was Allura last moment she remember with her father.
(End flashback)
"Planet Altea and all of the planets in our solar system has been destroy," Allura said as the middle-aged alien guy look sadden by that as it seem as Allura turn around as she said, "Coran, father is gone, our entire civilization... Zarkon!"
Allura said the last part in anger, but her words left clear implications in those words. "Garrus does the Citadel have laws involving a dying species?" Shepard asked as Wrex heard this.
"Not sure honestly we'll likely have to ask." Garrus said as this was the first time they had ever been in this sort of scenario.
"Pardon but did you say you were asleep for over 50,000 years?" Liara asked as she saw the implications of this as did Shepard.
"Yes... why?" Allura began as she did not want to talk about it.
"Did you know the Protheans? What were they like? What was that wormhole that brought us here?" Liara began but Ashley stepped in.
"Easy there Liara." Ashley said not wanting to overwhelm Allura.
"The Protheans?" Allura asked her tone dipping to one of annoyance. "Pardon me but I may need to break any fantasy you have of them." Allura said as she did not want to speak to much of it. "They were a bunch of arrogant petty Quizznackers who thought they were so much better than the universe at large and everything was there because of their mastery of their blasted, Mass Effect, technology." Allura ranted as it showed she did not hold the Protheans in high regard.
"Pardon me?" Liara asked surprised to hear this.
"Every time they find a new species, they either absorbed it into their empire or slaughtered it for rejecting them." Allura said as she recalled the war between the Voltron Alliance and the Prothean.
"You went to war against the Protheans?" Ashley asked intrigued by this.
"Yes, and my people won with the aid of Voltron." Allura said as she then sighed to this. "Of course, after the war I've had to take several diplomatic trips with my father to help maintain the uneasy peace between us." Allura said as she still recalled how arrogant the Protheans were.
"I... have so many questions." Liara said but then Shepard cut in.
"Wait if you were around during the Protheans era then maybe you can tell us about the Conduit or even how the Reapers slaughtered the Protheans." Shepard said as he looked to Allura.
"I'm sorry but if the Reapers did do the deed, then chances are I was already asleep by then..." Allura trailed off as she then say Kalvin holding something giving it a look over. "Where did you get that?" Allura asked as she glared at Kalvin.
"Huh?" Kalvin asked as he looked to Allura.
"Where did you get that Bayard?" Allura asked as she walked over to Kalvin and holding his hand up to show the Bayard in his hand.
"I found it on a corpse outside." Kalvin said and thus Allura had to know.
"Show me." Allura said and thus the group were on a trip.
(Outside)
Allura was met with the same corpse the others had found and the way she glared at it showed that it was not a good thing. "Zarkon." Allura said as she saw the remains of what was clearly, the remains of Zarkon himself on his knees before her.
"Wait this is Zarkon?" Shepard asked surprised to see the one who allegedly slaughtered Altea kneeling there.
"Was Zarkon by the looks of it." Tali said as Allura glared at the remains with a hollow look in her eyes.
"Princess, are you ok?" Corran asked as he looked to Allura with concern.
"Honestly... I'm not sure." Allura said as she glared at Zarkon the one being she once saw as an uncle of sorts. "I want to say good riddance, or even that he got what he deserved but I don't feel anything for this." Allura said with a hollow and bitter tone in her voice. "Still leaving him out here like this would be disrespectful even if it was him." Allura said as she figured Zarkon deserves a proper burial. "But why did he come here only to die?" Allura wondered as she found it odd that Zarkon would come all this way but die before he could enter.
"A mystery that may remain unsolved." Liara admitted as she looked to the scene.
"So why do you need to know about Seran and these... Reapers?" Allura asked as she looked to Shepard and thus Shepard sighed to this.
"We're on a mission from the Citadel Council it's something of a long story." Shepard said and thus Allura sighed.
"Considering my ship is currently in need of repairs... I have time." Allura said and in turn they all began to return to the castle.
(Meanwhile with Seran and Hagar)
Levitating purple crystals glowed in a way they hadn't in millennia. Haggar had long since made herself right at home in this place knowing the evil that surrounded her. Thankfully, she had 50,000 years to devices ways to counteract it. Still the fact this crystal had activated now of all times meant that Voltron's return was imminent.
So, she left the room and made her way to the area Seran had made his command deck. Upon entering though she saw Seran waiting. "Haggar, you need something?" Seran asked but then Haggar reported.
"The Red Lion has returned, and I have sensed a resurgence of Altean energy." Haggar informed in as Seran heard what she had to say. "Unfortunately, we lack the means to reach it." Haggar said as she knew that without a wormhole using the Mass Relays will take too long for them to reach Arus.
"And if we do not know where these Lions are then our enemies will retrieve them without fail." Seran said but then Haggar had an alternative.
"We may not be able to intercept the Lions, but we can attack them at their fortress through the Mass Relays." Haggar said as she knew that at least one Mass Relay was close enough for the task. "It's inactive unfortunately but with the correct combinations we can activate it from our end." Haggar said and thus Seran saw the chance to eliminate a problem before it becomes a problem.
"Do what you must." Seran said and with a bow Haggar took her leave of the Turian Ex-SPECTRE. She had the perfect means to deal with Voltron and if not gather information on what was needed from her.
(Later elsewhere in the Sovereign)
Haggar had already set up her lab as she moved through the facility until she came upon a creature on a table. It looked curious to the world unaware of the horror it was about to endure. "You will be the first in a long line of weapons." Haggar said to the creature as it looked at her from its cage.
She then moved it to what looked to be a pod as behind it covered in shadows was a massive creature part beast and part robot and by the looks of it only needed life. ESKK: Well, here we are the first chapter in what I hope is a good story. We've been having issues with fanfiction lately and thankfully it seems the issues have been resolved. So, get this this was originally meant to be one chapter but I reached a word count of 20,000 words so we had to split it in two. So, look forward to chapter 2 because by tomorrow we will have two chapters made.
