Shisno Chronicles: Magic Knight Rayearth
The story is seen through the POV of the Story Crew Field Operative Tina Branford, who was sent to Tokyo under the guise of an English transfer student.
Appearance-wise, Tina is a tall blonde 16-year-old dressed in black pants and a form-fitting brown T-shirt. In terms of nationality, she appears to be English.
- She's present when Princess Emeraude calls the Magic Knights to Cephiro, and is able to hear the call thanks to her equipment. And with orders from on high, she grabs one of them by the arm and joins in the transportation to Cephiro.
- While not specifically called by Princess Emeraude, Guru Clef decides that since she's already here, Tina acquires magic as well as (yellow) armor. While only able to teach Hikaru how to use hers before Alceone arrives, he's able to confide to Tina her magic's element: Earth.
- Due to the nature of the call, she doesn't have a lot with her, but among her inventory in her handbag is a set of items that can be assembled into a customized handgun a la Scaramanga. It also comes with specialized bullets that bypass metal detectors and airport security. Naturally, the trio are alarmed that she possesses a weapon like this, but Tina manages to assuage their fears by pointing out their situation. She also reminds them that she only has a limited number of bullets, so finding actual weapons will still be imperative.
- The weapons Tina borrows from Presea's armory are a one-handed battle axe and a basic spear. She and Umi are bewildered by this double selection. During the skirmish against the mud monster, Tina unlocks two spells: "Earth Wall" and "Earth Spike".
- Later on, Tina learns "Earth Javelin", enabling her to create one from earth and throw it.
- She tries to convince Ferio to come with anyway to get Escudo, or perhaps once the Magic Knights are done if he has a reason for not accompanying them all the way. Tina confides that she isn't actually one of the prophesied, but that doesn't mean she can't try and do her part. Ferio says he'll think about it.
- For her mental trial, Tina confronts a "Shadow" of herself that tries to belittle her worth and place in the prophecy. Thankfully, she's been prepared for this and was able to resolve her trial without a fight.
- As such, she's in better shape when Alceone ambushes them. Just like the Magic Knights, she unlocks a new spell as well, and hers is "Citrine Prison", and she tried to seal their foe in crystal, only for Alceone to teleport away just before it's completed.
- Due to not being a Magic Knight, her ore of Escudo is smaller than the rest. Her resultant Escudo blade is therefore also smaller, and was designed like a Roman gladius. During Atalante's attack, Tina stays with Presea as a last line of defense while the Magic Knights take it on outside. As such, when the beast stormed inside the forge, she was able to erect a wall of earth to protect the both of them. As such, they managed to make it out alive, nab their Escudos, and destroy Atalante. That said, they're still badly hurt, and Tina has to remind Fuu that she has a healing spell she can use.
- However, due to Tina having a direct hand in Presea's survival in this version of events, when the Story Crew excised her involvement in the version they Transmit, it causes a plot error where Presea dies, yet is required to live later on.
- Even with the changes in events, the loaned weapons still have to be returned since they were after all loaned, leaving the Magic Knights and Tina with only their Escudo. Tina wants to ask if there's a way to purchase weapons from Presea, but she says that will need more time, and she has to hide now that Zagato knows where she is, and might send more monsters after her again. And joining the Magic Knights is not an option for her.
- During the battle against Vigor, Tina claims that the critter Hikari that Hikaru took in was already long dead and replaced by the monster the time the quartet found it. It did not turn into a monster, the monster turned into it before turning back to try and kill her.
- Inside the Deucy-made blizzard world, while Hikaru and Fuu stand out there, Tina decides to use Citrine Prison on herself, creating a dome of crystal to serve as shelter. However, she didn't account for what exactly would happen, so she ends up in a state of stasis and unable to make similar Prisons for her companions as they eventually succumb to the cold.
- When Alceone comes in and notices only three of them (given Umi was sent to a mental world of her own), she smashes the Citrine Prison, breaking Tina out of her stasis, and then demanding where the other Magic Knight is. Tina is upfront, but Alceone naturally doesn't believe her, and they clash. (The Story Crew changes this to her just slapping the unconscious Hikaru.)
- During this battle, Alceone mocks Tina for not being a real Magic Knight, to which the SCFO basically states "So what?", even if it does bite at her, hence her Escudo does not evolve yet.
- By the time Umi comes back, Alceone has defeated Tina, and events proceed as normal.
- During the meeting with Rune God Ceres, when he dismisses the other Magic Knights, Tina tries to set up an Earth Wall, only for it to be broken with ease as they're separated from Umi.
- During Ascot's battle against them, when Fuu discovers Capella's weak point, Tina unlocks her "Citrine Stalactites" spell, sending crystal spikes falling towards it. Hikaru follows up with her downward strike, which ejects Ascot.
- When the villagers attempt to kill the Magic Knights while under coercion by Caldina, Tina was all but ready to fight them (with assurances that they're not going to die) even when they tell her to stand aside since she's not their target.
- During Caldina's second attempt on the Knights, during her use of the illusion incense, Tina realizes what it is, and curses herself for not bringing a gas mask with her.
- During the battle against the illusory beasts, after the Magic Knights end up falling off a cave exit leading to a drop-off, Tina (who doesn't jump after them) in her desperation uses her Earth Spike spell to break everyone's fall by summoning them from the mountain. They still end up barely conscious from the fall.
- When Caldina sends down a real boulder to kill them, Tina jumps down to try and cleave it. She manages to do so at the same time as Umi's attack. The resultant shards still end up striking Caldina from her spot.
- During the battle against Ascot and his beasts, right as the latter managed to take hold of Fuu and Hikaru, Tina also got them held hostage with Citrine Prison, partially restraining them and giving Umi time to hold him at swordpoint. Once he gets his beasts to release the other Magic Knights, Tina accedes to Umi's request to release the beasts from her Prison spell as well.
- Amidst the bees that scare off Fuu, Tina goes with her, and thus isn't with Umi and Hikaru when Caldina confronts them face-to-face.
- When Fuu falls into the ditch, Tina catches her arm, but struggles to pull her up due to all the bats and falls in with her.
- When they encounter the brainwashed Hikaru and Umi, when the latter strikes, Tina intercepts the Escudo with her own Escudo, though Fui still falls down injured, and it's Tina whose blood is drawn.
- When Hikari joins the attack, Tina starts clashing in earnest for a while, keeping her and Umi away from Fuu. Tina grouses over not being able to keep her loaned weapons from Presea or at least buy something else from her.
- When Caldina shows up, explains her purpose, Tina tries asking how much did Zagato pay. The dancer isn't telling since she knows the Magic Knights don't have anything to outbid him.
- Once she gets her thralls to attack again, Tina immediately starts clashing again, but for Fuu's sake she remains on the defensive until the Winds of Absolution trap the thralls.
- When Caldina takes hold of Fuu's body and Tina's, the latter immediately casts Citrine Prison on herself and all the Knights, sealing themselves up. She didn't target Caldina since she didn't think it would take hold before the illusionist escapes from it and tightens her magical hold.
- In this version of the events, Caldina moves to destroy the Magic Knights personally, only for Ascot to intercept, then get immobilized. She then smashes Fuu out of her Prison, then events proceed as normal, including the counterattack Emerald Typhoon.
- Fuu promptly breaks everyone else free from their Prisons and her Healing Winds restore the entire party. Fuu asks Tina to not try that again, but Tina assures they're fine; she herself had been sealed in during that blizzard, and when Alceone broke her out she didn't suffer any ill effects.
- Instead of worrying from Presea's death, Hikaru worries on how close they have all come to dying, including Presea were it not for Tina. And that they have to keep on growing stronger in order to keep on averting such potential tragedies.
- Mokona's map light only has three colors, and Hikaru notices. Tina reminds them that only three have been chosen to become Magic Knights; she's just along for the ride, helping in every way she can.
- Tina was with Hikaru when she went down to catch up with Mokona, thus she wasn't abducted by the pillar of light like the others have.
- During Clef's exposition on Cephiro's monsters, Tina criticizes how much hangs on the whims of one person.
- Hikaru and Tina take off in the direction Mokona points to, but the latter starts lagging behind despite her taller strides and Hikaru inadvertently leaves her in the dust.
- In response to her cries of need, Tina unlocks another spell: "Earth Slider". Boarding a slab of Earth, she moves to catch up to Hikaru, who's running ragged.
- However, she only makes it in time for Mokona to get abducted as well. Tina has to decide between helping Hikaru or tailing the pillar of light. She decides on the latter, trusting in Hikaru to be alright.
- Because she didn't bleed at any point during the chase, Tina isn't taken by the pillar at any point, which doesn't seem to notice her at all. When it goes for Hikaru, Tina has begun to close in to cleave it, and does it just in time with Hikaru's vertical slash.
- While camping at a cave, Tina wonders if her Earth Slider spell can take them up to the Wind Shrine. Umi tells her to not risk herself for the time being.
- When Ferio arrives with "Sera", Tina can sense pangs of jealousy in Fuu.
- During the battle against Inouva, Tina opens with an Earth Wall that gets immediately broken through.
- After her talk with Windam, Fuu sees her companions topple, and sees Tina inside her own Citrine Prison once again. Inouva states his intentions to deal with her later.
- Windam's wave also breaks Tina free of her Prison. Fuu asks why she keeps sealing herself like that. Tina replies that it's just too much of a surefire way to defend oneself, even at the expense of being unable to contribute to battle.
- Despite having the capacity and magic to stop Ferio from leaving, Tina doesn't restrain him, feeling it's not right to do so.
- From then on, Tina uses the Earth Slider to transport the Magic Knights for a while, if only to test her mana limits.
- At some point, Fuu asks if Tina's jealous that she has no corresponding Rune God. She insists she isn't since she hasn't been called by Princess Emeraude, and that a fourth Rune God to travel to awaken would prolong Cephiro's suffering.
- Before the monster they spot even begins to fly, Tina immediately opens with Citrine Stalactites to batter it with. It manages to dodge them as it flies level with the party.
- After Lafarga's "rescue" of Umi, in light of what's happened to each of the Escudo blades, Tina decides to test hers out too.
- In the hands of another, Tina's Escudo blade lifts the holder (Fuu in this instance) up to the sky until they let go, after which it falls back down towards Tina for her to catch.
- With that knowledge, Tina deduces that whatever "security measure" their Escudos have are tied to their elemental magic somehow. Umi's turns to Water, Fuu's becomes heavy in opposite to Air, and Tina's becomes light as it departs from the Earth. She decides not to test Hikaru's lest it set her on Fire or something.
- When Umi questions Lafarga's attacking them after her rescue, Tina guesses that Lafarga is bound by an honor code that requires his kills to be by his hand alone.
- When Umi and Fuu are trapped in earth, with Hikaru and Tina defending them, the latter uses her Earth Magic to defend against Lafarga's attacks, even an Empty Citrine Prison once. But his attacks are too strong, and both she and Hikaru have to brace against them and end up bleeding. Tina falls to her knees after this, leaving the rest up to Hikaru.
- When Lafarga has Hikaru in a choke hold, Tina tosses her Escudo at them. Lafarga intercepts it… just as she planned it, and he gets lifted up away from Hikaru. Tina then hobbles over to the now prone Magic Knight, and kicks her Escudo closer, not holding it lest it trigger its defenses.
- But then Lafarga lands on her and punches her into the ground, having let go of Tina's Escudo which lands nearby. This ends up stunning her, but not KO'ing her, though it was dangerously close. He then picks up Hikaru's, and is promptly immolated like in canon.
- Lafarga notices Tina among the Magic Knights, and recalls the prophecy only called for three. She clarifies that despite her Escudo and her armor, she isn't one. But she IS from another world just like them.
- Once again, the party travels atop Tina's Earth Slider.
- When Clef gets cut off before he could explain who the true enemy is, Tina starts wondering if there's a mastermind manipulating Zagato and the reason behind his betrayal of Emeraude in the first place.
- During the confrontation with Beast Inouva, when he opens his attack, Tina opens up with a Citrine Prison on everybody. Upon smashing them open, the damage taken is reduced.
- Beast Inouva more swiftly gives away his identity when he comments on Tina's tendency to imprison herself and how futile it is.
- The battle is arduous, and even with Tina keeping Fuu protected in order to fulfill her battle role as healer, it only prolonged the inevitable as Inouva maintains the upper paw.
- Eventually, it's down to Hikaru and Tina, and the latter has drawn her gun kept away so long ago. With the will of Cephiro, and her confidence in her weapon's power, Tina's bullet flies true just as Hikaru blasts her white lightning. The spell pierces the barrier but dissipates, while the bullet hits its mark, vanquishing Inouva once and for all. Hikaru's final strike then seals the deal.
- When Umi expresses frustration that Mokona might not know where Zagato is, Tina assures that—assuming he doesn't have any minions left—it may not be long before Zagato himself shows up to try and stop them. Or maybe Alceone would try one last time with some new tricks.
- When Hikaru is taken by the last shrine, Tina calms down the others, reminds them of the last two times they worried for each other like this, and says it's just Hikaru's turn to meet the Rune God. But if recent patterns are to be believed, it means that they're gonna have to fight to protect the shrine. And speaking of the devil, Zagato shows up.
- Tina casts Citrine Prison on her companions and gets behind them, not confident that she could successfully trap Zagato before he makes his move. Zagato for his part expresses curiosity over her decision, commenting that she's done this before when Inouva attacked them at the Wind Shrine. Tina doesn't ask how he knows, and assumes that Inouva told him.
His move still effortlessly strips the two of their Prison AND their armor. But because Tina stood behind them, she had time to seal herself in Citrine Prison once again. Not seeing her as a threat, Zagato's stops short of stripping it entirely, leaving her head open, and helpless to act.
- When Hikaru is ejected from the Shrine, when she finds Fuu and Umi knocked out and deprived of their armor, Tina warns her that Zagato is out there.
- Once Rayearth is awakened, and the other two Rune Gods regift the other Magic Knights new armor, Hikaru smashes Tina free from her Citrine Prison. Tina then expresses surprise that the Rune Gods are giant robots. And then it clicks to her: in another language, "Rune God" sounds like "Machine".
- When the piloted Rune Gods leave, Tina tries to suppress the emotions in her, but it's no use. She's envious of the Rune Gods the Magic Knights now pilot, and now she's left behind because there's no way to catch up to them. Lafarga notices and asks her what her heart's desire is. She confesses that she wishes to not remain on the sidelines, that she wishes to fight alongside the Magic Knights, that she doesn't want to be left behind by her friends.
- Cephiro appears to respond to her will, and her armor transforms into a more complete set that covers her from head to toe in yellow. It makes her appear like a miniature Rune God, and she discovers it has flight capability. She almost takes off, but looks back to Lafarga and Mokona. He tells her to go on ahead and help her friends.
- Eventually, Tina catches up to the Magic Knights, who don't recognize her at first until she comes face-to-face with them. They express surprise to see her here, flying in what appears to be a miniature Rune God. Tina explains it's just her armor evolved in accordance to her wishes, then confesses her feelings of her regard for her role here, and that for the time they'll spend in Cephiro, she's proud to call them her friends.
- After a comment about glasses, Tina says Fuu will need them once they're back home, unless she's going to switch to contact lenses. Tina hopes she doesn't, saying that glasses suit her.
- Hikaru once again thanks Tina for saving Presea. If she hadn't been with them, the weaponsmith would've been dead by now.
- Despite seeing Zagato's own Rune God, Tina is not deterred and is determined to fight alongside the Magic Knights. Hikaru however tells her to go on ahead and clear the way to Emeraude. At the rate Cephiro is going, they cannot waste time with any more distractions Zagato may have prepared in case he falls.
- Tina understands and goes ahead, but Zagato goes straight for her as he won't allow anyone to disturb Emeraude. Thankfully, Rayearth clashes with his Rune God, allowing her to pass by and enter the castle.
- At least, that was the plan. As the battle rages on, Tina circles the entire castle, goes through every nook and cranny, and even tries using her Earth Magic to move the crystal, but nothing worked.
- By the time she comes back after a complete circle of the barrier, the Magic Knights vanquish Zagato once and for all. Yet somehow Tina feels this isn't over. She had heard his protests against Emeraude's situation as the Pillar of Cephiro.
- Tina returns to the Magic Knights as they hear from her about the barrier keeping her out, and how to pierce it before the Rune Gods tell them that their magic can. Tina deduces that only the Magic Knights can pull it off.
- Upon touching down where Emeraude awaits, as the Magic Knights exit their Rune Gods, Tina lands alongside them, but her armor remains fully covering her, since she doesn't know how to change it, and because she feels she shouldn't yet.
- Tina realizes what they did wrong. They were supposed to defeat Zagato, but they weren't supposed to KILL him.
- Tina asks for an explanation for what the heck is happening. When the Magic Knights tell her, she wonders if… they were sent here specifically to destroy her because she felt Cephiro needed saving…from herself, because something evil was taking over her, that no one else could stop her once it took hold, and perhaps because Zagato would not allow it because he was ALSO in love with Emeraude. And yet, why did she choose children like them for this vile task?
- When Emeraude makes telepathic contact, this time she includes Tina in the conversation as she apologizes for her involvement when she shouldn't have been pulled in. Tina says she doesn't regret it, and that it's thanks to her that Presea is still alive when she would've died.
- Upon seeing her suspicions confirmed regarding the reason the Magic Knights were called, Tina then asks why she chose children like them for an assassination. Emeraude confesses that she isn't as omniscient about Earth as she is in Cephiro.
- With the mission now clear, Tina is resolute in seeing it through, by her hand if need be, prophecy be damned. If she has to stain her hands to keep theirs clean, that's what she'll do. But she doesn't have the power to do so. It has to be the Magic Knights who end this.
- Once the deed is done, the quartet find themselves back in Tokyo, as if only a moment has passed. Tina is made aware that this journey isn't over yet, that they'll be back in Cephiro eventually.
Season 2
- When the three meet at Tokyo Tower, Tina shows up to meet them as well. And she had a larger pack, as if preparing to go on a trip. When they talk about being unable to sleep much, she says that's natural; being forced to commit… something like that would leave a scar in the soul.
- Despite everything that's happened, Tina still thinks Zagato is partly at fault for not clearing things up earlier, for not trying to shake their resolve with the truth, even if it would've been hard to believe at first. Yet it was their fault too for not questioning the world around them.
- When the light starts shining again, Tina immediately grabs on to Fuu and Umi and wills herself to be brought along like before. Thankfully, she does. But when they start falling, Tina starts cursing to herself for not bringing a parachute since they all fell last time.
- After being brought by Mokona to Clef, after he apologizes for not being upfront with them the first time, only Tina is cross with him. But she was cross with Emeraude too, since she should not have summoned middle school children for an assassination to begin with. But perhaps given how different Cephiro is from Earth, maybe the concept of certain people being too young for such a task wasn't a thing for her.
- Upon seeing airships arrive, Tina was floored given the setting she thought this world was supposed to be.
- When Clef talks about the other nations making their way to Cephiro, Tina's trying to comprehend how they could make it here, and how the world even works.
- After the three declare their reasons for wanting to fight for Cephiro despite Clef telling them there's no need to, Tina adds that she just wants to keep her friends safe, and that she wants to make sure they return home alive. And if defending Cephiro is what it takes, then that's what she's going to do. When the subject veered off towards cooking talents, Tina just says she has zilch experience except for the basics.
- Presea soon arrives when the subject of weapons is brought up. And Hikaru rushes to embrace her. In this iteration, it's a joyful one. But Tina looked pensive, as if wondering what events will be in the version Transmitted where Tina isn't present, especially since she had directly involved herself to save Presea's life.
- Presea still apologizes for not knowing the horrible truth about the Pillar System. And upon hearing from Clef about the conditions to be Pillar, Tina wonders if this means one of the Magic Knights are eligible, and if she should dissuade them.
- When Presea returns to the quartet their Escudo blades, Tina wonders if it's a bit much to ask for additional weapon options, mainly a bow for Fuu since that's what she's most adept at. But before that could be brought up, the original Magic Knights were suddenly whisked away when the gems in their armors glowed. As it turns out, they had been transported to meet the Rune Gods.
- When Clef changes the "screen" to show the Rune Gods now way above the castle, Tina asks for the nearest exit by air. He tells her, then she exerts her will, which transforms her armor into its Rune God-esque form. After expressing initial shock over seeing she still has that form available, she takes off after her companions and soon catches up and they explain the Rune Gods' dimension.
- Upon meeting the Autozam battleship, Tina's already planning what their course of action should be. Meanwhile, in there, there's curiosity regarding the little entity alongside the Rune Gods, wondering what kind of advanced drone it is, but scans soon display that it's a person inside, meaning it's a "power suit".
- When Eagle Vision greets them in his FTO, Tina's astounded by his speed, and she wonders what spells she could use to slow him down.
- In response to Eagle Vision's FTO's Shield holding up against Hikaru's Flame Arrow, only for something to blow up, Tina capitalizes on this by casting a large Earth Javelin and hurling it. He counters this by using his FTO's body to smash it with a punch. He then starts weaving effortlessly when Tina herself charges, and during this he tells the Magic Knights what he tells them in canon before then jetting away too fast for Tina to catch up to him.
- Everyone soon returns to the castle and dismisses their Rune Gods and armor before they're met by Prince Ferio, who after revealing his status and Emeraude's ties to him, as well as asking them not to blame themselves, leads them to meet the others waiting for them.
- Upon being reunited with Caldina, Tina is first and foremost shocked with just how little she's wearing. When the illusionist asks if she's jealous or if she likes it, Tina bluntly states that she's not and that Caldina's black leotard was much better.
- Upon seeing the young man Caldina pulls out of the pillar, Tina asks if he's related to Ascot. When Caldina says he IS that boy, her jaw drops.
-The segment with Lantis and Primera proceeds as normal.
- One evening, When Umi visits Clef, Tina does too. The mage conjures a chair for her as well, but Tina instead leans on its back instead of sitting on it.
- After Umi's talk, Tina airs out her grievances against Clef for the things he hid, even if he could've told them in his stone state, but she says she understands why. Clef needed to save Cephiro, after all, and hiding the truth would not only make sure the mission is carried out, but so that the Magic Knights can return home. He just didn't account for them somehow coming back here, that's all. The Cephiro mage doesn't know what to say, whether to confirm it, or to tell the truth that might be different.
- While talking with Ferio about the quartet's feelings regarding having to fight Emeraude, Fuu adds that as soon as Tina realized the truth, she wanted to take the burden of doing the killing blow, just to make sure that she, Umi, and Hikaru didn't have to bear it. Alas, she lacked the power to take the choice from the Magic Knights.
- Later on, during the part where Alceone meets the team again, when she sends her Astra spell at Ceres, Tina immediately casts Citrine Prison on the Rune God, much to Umi's shock. Just as it finished forming, the spell struck, and not only shattered the Prison, but sent Ceres tumbling down and Umi incapacitated.
- But the most important part is that Tina wasn't KO'd, and thus is there to help Rayearth against Alceone while Windam is busy. So when Alceone attacks again, Tina goes on the counteroffensive to at least get within range of Imprisoning the traitorous apprentice of Clef, as she failed to do the first time she learned the spell.
- Upon Debonair momentarily overtaking Alceone to taunt the Magic Knights, Tina could feel a sense of dread, as if this evil would not stop at Cephiro.
- Tina agrees with the Magic Knights that not trying to understand what the other party wants was what led to this current situation, but it was also not their fault for trying to explain. Still, both parties are guilty in that case.
- Upon touching down on the Autozam battleship, when the Magic Knights exit their Rune-Gods, Tina lands alongside them, but doesn't revert her armor from its Rune God-esque form. Eagle Vision notices and asks why. She says she's being more cautious.
- When the Magic Knights express their intentions to hear out Autozam's reasons for invading, Tina adds that the last time they didn't ask questions, people who didn't need to die were killed.
- When Princess Aska of Fahren makes her intentions clear, Tina instantly dislikes her for her obliviousness to what being the Princess of Cephiro entails.
- As soon as Eagle boards his FTO, to engage Aska's dragon battleship Dome, Tina already takes off after him while the Magic Knights embark on their Rune Gods.
- After discerning the FTO and the Rune Gods, the elder and Sang Yung are puzzled with Tina in her special armor making her look like the latter.
- Upon seeing the dancing lion entity summoned, Tina is ready to throw down as soon as her teammates are.
- When Umi asks Hikaru if she's sick after waking up from that dream where Debonair tries to seize Emeraude's crown, Tina tells her that of course she is. That all of them are ill in one way or another because the scars from…what happened can never be truly fully healed.
- During Clef's exposition on how the next Pillar is chosen, Tina sighs about "that" plan going out the window. When asked, she explains that even if hypothetically an…artificial entity could be created, who would not jeopardize Cephiro with other selfish thoughts and would be the ideal Pillar, if the crown deems it unworthy, it would be a waste of effort. Clef agrees that it would indeed be a waste.
- When everyone opposes Hikaru's idea to go out alone to search for a worthy candidate to be Pillar, Tina offers to go in her place. She's not a chosen Magic Knight, and she has no Rune God, but her armor should protect her from the elements. Her Earth spells should also make travel faster. Hikaru still plans on going, but accepts Tina's offer to join.
- During the expedition, Tina discovers another spell "Earth Crevice", but holds back on actually using it. No point in accelerating Cephiro's destruction.
- Back at the castle, Fuu expresses her worry for Hikaru and Tina.
- While waiting in the rain, Lantis shields both girls with his cape, holding up both arms as they stand on either side of him.
- After the rain, upon the landing of Eagle's FTO, Tina immediately changes her armor to its Rune God-esque form, and stays in front of Hikaru until she decides to summon Rayearth to don, and then joins in battle.
- When Rayearth collides his sword against the FTO's Shield, Tina joins in with an Earth Javelin as well. When it crumbles, she just summons another one and thrusts that too.
- When Eagle stops messing around and incapacitates Rayearth, it catches Tina in it too and also KOs her. But her armor doesn't revert itself because she's technically still in danger.
- When Hikaru was taken to a guest room, Tina was about to be left in a cell since Eagle's crew couldn't break her armor, but he told them to put her in a guest room too.
- Tina eventually wakes up, realizes she's been taken prisoner, and decides to prepare for a breakout, as soon as she figures out where the cameras are and destroy them, as well as recovering from the shock she had suffered.
- Eventually, the door opens as young Zazu walks in, and then he's met with an Escudo to the neck. That's when Hikaru walks in as well and asks her to stand down. Tina sees that her clothes are different, realizes what happened, and accuses the Autozam boy of stripping Hikaru. Zazu immediately says that there are women among the crew for that. Also, he was here to fetch the two of them, and he had gone to fetch Hikaru first just in case of a situation like this.
- After being explained what was going on, Tina conceds as she dismisses her Escudo, and switches her armor form back to its default. Zazu is enamored once again, but a harsh glare from her shuts him up.
- The two are eventually escorted to meet Eagle, where names are exchanged. It's also confirmed that the two "Magic Knights" (for easier explanation, Tina will be categorized as one too) are the ages they look like.
- When Eagle offers Geo's stash of sweets, and explains that there's already a stash in his own room as well, Tina decides to take him up on the offer with Hikaru.
- While searching for their missing friends, along with mentioning how Hikaru seems to be taking burdens alone lately, Tina has also always seemed to consider herself as "less important" than the other three, putting herself in front before anyone else, and that tendency to use Citrine Prison on herself. What makes her act like that?
- Back at the MSX, after Eagle Vision narrates Lantis's time in Autozam, and its current plight, Tina inquires if it potentially has the means to re-create the Pillar system. Because using it as is would not be feasible. Eagle replies that even if they do, there isn't enough time, and he intends to seize the current version to stall the self-destruction of his country. Enough time perhaps to then re-create the system as Tina suggests.
- When Lantis enters the scene, and then Nova takes away Hikaru and her default attire, Tina is left behind with the two, and she's not sure who to side with for now, or if Lantis isn't actually just an independent agent.
- For now, she decides to just escape, shifting to her "Rune God"-esque armor and leaving through the hole Lantis made, and she would eventually reunite with the other Magic Knights, and find Rayearth clashing against another "Rune God". They would intercede, and get engulfed in Nova's dimension, where they would meet Debonair.
- After Nova shatters Rayearth's Escudo before leaving, Tina tries to stop her from escaping with an Earth Spike, only to land on it safely and take off on it before the group is returned to the default Cephiro.
- Upon returning to the castle, it's discovered that the damage to Rayearth's Escudo also applied to Hikaru's.
- Upon meeting Presea again, Tina asks why damage to Rayearth's blade transferred to Hikaru's. She tells her that when the Rune Gods summon their swords, they're actually summoning the Magic Knight's Escudo blades, and what they hold "inside" are probably some manner of illusion to guide the Knight. Any more is just speculation on her part; any more will have to be asked toward the Rune Gods themselves.
- During Caldina's suggestion for a bath, and blabbing about how Ascot wants to see Umi in one, Tina asks if it's normal in Cephiro–or wherever Caldina came from if she isn't actually a native–to have unisex bathrooms.
- During the bath session, Caldina notices how well-developed Tina is compared to the other Magic Knights. She says that's because she's older than the three and that she comes from a different country.
- Because Presea is still alive, no birthmark comes up.
- When Chizeta's "airship" arrives, Tina leaves alongside Fuu and Umi. They soon engage Tarta and Tatra's Djinn in combat, Tina mainly using Citrine Stalactites even as they weave around her attacks easily.
- During the Djinn's dance sequence, Tina doesn't waste time gawking and charges up her spell, hoping it can work mid-air. Once they charge, Tina attempts Citrine Prison, starting to form it in front of the Djinn, but they smash through, and Fuu's forced to pull her out of their trajectory. Once they then summon their sabers for close-quarters combat, Tina decides perhaps this might be an ample opportunity to strike at the Bravada to try to disrupt the princesses' focus. After informing Fuu about this (with Umi still reeling at the Djinn's movements), she then takes off from below.
- While Ceres and Windam struggle against the Djinn, Tina reached the bottom and is pounding at them from below and behind in an attempt to infiltrate. She does get to see the giant Sang Yung summoned by Princess Aska, and gets distracted watching the mêlée à trois. Upon seeing them both get captured, Tina decides to resume her infiltration.
- Back at the castle in Cephiro, in the heat of losing their two remaining Rune Gods, they forget that Tina's still unaccounted for.
- With Presea still alive, she's the one who takes on the task of reviving Hikaru's sword. The SC makes note of this for what gets Transmitted. However, with the difficulty of the task, she decides to take a detour to the shelter to call for someone to help.
- Later, Presea fetches her twin sister Sierra and tells her what needs to be done. And from what she knows, Sierra's become much better at weapon repair than Presea herself, even if weapon creation is still a ways off. So the plan is for Sierra to wait at the room where the repairs will take place, and pose as Presea. Sierra expresses worry that she might not be able to handle a Magic Knight's Escudo blade, but Presea assures her of her progress, and that she'll come in once Hikaru's unconscious to aid her sister. They can surprise her when she wakes up. With that done, Presea enters Hikaru's room to confirm if she's ready to go through with it.
- Presea instructs Hikaru to go to the forge room while she departs "to get ready". Hikaru soon reaches the room and sees Sierra, who maintains the facade that she's actually Presea. Once the ritual commences and Hikaru is under, Presea enters and discreetly joins in.
- During the process, Hikaru reminisces about what could have been. What if Tina hadn't been brought along? What if ONLY SHE was summoned? Would things have been different if one of them had missed out?
- Back "outside", Sierra senses Hikaru submitting to Nova's words and tries to beckon her back. Presea lends her support as well.
- With the growing turmoil in Hikaru's heart clouding her in darkness, Presea decides she's going in, against Sierra's protests, She had almost lost her once, she couldn't bear to risk her heart to it again. As such, she wishes to come with, but Presea convinces her to stay in order to serve as an anchor out.
- Tina soon finds a cell window during her search, and finds Umi after her chat with Ceres. But then the Fahren guards come in, and Tina is not confident she can take them all on without putting Umi at risk and thus has to wait for them to take her away before barging in the cell to sneak inside the fortress.
- Back at Autozam's airship, Eagle Vision also has a tracker on Tina, and that she's moving about in Bravada.
- During the duel between Tarta and Umi, Tina has managed to sneak in and incapacitate guards around. During the part where the guards surround Umi after she disarms Tarta, Tina (not decked in Rune God-esque armor since she saw no need for that) barges in from behind and blows away the guards before joining Umi as they prepare to make a break for it. Only for Tatra to break it up AND invite Tina for tea as well, to both T-named girls' surprise.
- During Umi's spiel of the consequences of becoming Pillar of Cephiro, Tina also adds more dissuasion, stating the theoretical, and what Tarta and Tatra might be forced to do if either of them became Pillar, going through them in detail.
"Now that you know everything about the Pillar System, ask yourself this: is the price worth paying each and every living day of your life? To be separated by duty, knowing that your sister can NEVER think of you EVER AGAIN should she become Pillar, and that NEITHER SHOULD YOU if you want to protect the Pillar and keep your country prosperous? And that if the Pillar should ever fail, the only way to stop it from destroying everything is to summon a trio of people from Earth to assassinate your sister? Would you let this happen, or would you be like Zagato and try to stop the Magic Knights?"
- And with that, once Umi leaves, Tina shifts into her armor before telling them that they never had a chance against them before breaking out as well.
- Upon seeing the Djinn pursue, Tina curses them for their ignorance as she fights them alongside Rune God Ceres.
- Sierra continues to struggle to keep Presea anchored as she tries to reach out to Hikaru.
- With the fight against the Djinn continuing on, Tina tells Umi to go on ahead while she stalls them, but she refuses to leave her friend behind.
- When Ascot comes to their rescue, Tina recognizes the bird beast from before, whom she had threatened to seal in crystal.
- While Umi hears the strange psychic message, Tina doesn't.
- Upon Nova's attack breaking Presea's contract with Hikaru, she's driven out and into Sierra's arms, knocked out.
- Lantis arrives to see them and Hikaru just as she resolved her issues.
- When Debonair blasts Ceres, Tina joins Ascot in blocking the attack, but even a timed Citrine Prison on herself did nothing and not only was she shattered out of it, she took enough damage to fall unconscious as she and Ascot are caught in Ceres' hands up until they're teleported back to the castle.
- Upon rousing herself, Tina feels daunted with the scope of Debonair's power. If even Rune Gods have trouble dealing with her, what chance does she have to even contribute?
- Hikaru sat beside the unconscious Presea, where Sierra was also in attendance. The latter introduced herself, and explained that she helped with repairing her Escudo. She also thanks Hikaru for helping protect her sister. Still in a bit of a stupor, Hikaru passed credit of that to Tina, who had stayed with Presea herself when the three went out.
- When Autozam strikes again, as the Magic Knights summon their Rune Gods, Tina already departed for the nearest exit, shifting into her Rune God-esque armor, needing to exit the old-fashioned way since she has no Rune God to teleport to its dimension and back.
- During the clash with the FTO and GTO, Eagle analyzes Tina's Rune God-esque armor and pegs her as a defense-oriented combatant with the advantage of small stature.
- When the FTO takes down Windam, Tina moves in to grab at its legs and cast Citrine Prison to hamper its speed. Even as the crystals begin sealing Eagle's mech, he swiftly stabs at his small heavily armored opponent and knocks her off and down before proceeding to go after Ceres, breaking the shards that remain on his FTO.
- During the GTO's barrage on Rayearth, Windam comes back in time with Tina to drive Geo's mech back, and she goes with Hikaru to stop Eagle.
- When the FTO manages to get in, Rayearth and Tina are in hot pursuit. While the Mecha and the Rune God are disembarked first, Tina skips that step (since she's clad in armor) as she bullrushes towards Eagle, even as he brings up his energy blade in response.
- He blocks Hikaru's blade beam attack, and Tina's charge is stopped when she blocks Eagle's beam saber.
- When the light that repels Debonair reaches the three, only Tina remains standing as Hikaru and Eagle fall unconscious. Once the light fades, she picks up Eagle to find a place to lock him up in. Since the castle is friendly territory, she's sure someone else can pick up Hikaru. And the Magic Knights eventually do when they returned.
- Tina recuperates at the shelter park where the local children are and meets the other Magic Knights there, listens to Fuu's singing, etc.
- When Nova invades, Tina armors up immediately, but Hikaru says she'll handle this.
- When the monsters after Nova enter the garden, while Fuu and Umi stall them, Tina is torn between helping them or helping Hikaru. She decides to help the latter by carrying her via Earth Slider as they go look for Nova. If they're going to fight, Hikaru needs as much energy in her as possible.
- Instead of an intercepting Flame Arrow blocking Nova's from hitting Eagle when he has her tied up, it's an Earth Wall as Tina finally drops off Hikaru.
- When Nova threatens Lantis with a beam saber pointed at him, she also jumps to dodge a Citrine Prison before moving in on Tina, who draws her Escudo.
- It is a heavy clash, one that eventually results in Nova beating the crap out of Tina first before turning her attention to the others. The "Fourth" Magic Knight is left unable to intervene in any of the events afterward, especially once Nova is ordered to withdraw.
- While talking about what could've possibly summoned the Magic Knights to Cephiro, the sight of the giant Sung Yung coming to the defense against Autozam, Tina's bewildered, then asks Fuu if she said anything special to the ones in charge there. She only explained the Pillar System. Umi says Tina did the same for the Chizeta princesses.
- In the midst of all the explosions, Tina guesses that after Eagle broke out, he scattered these all over with timed durations to confuse everyone. She goes with Hikaru.
- When Lantis's sword teleports himself, Eagle, and Hikaru to the crown room, Tina is left behind, and she has to find them all over again and fails to be there in time before Lantis retrieves the two later.
- When Umi volunteers to go to Chizeta, Tina volunteers to accompany her as well since she was there too during the exposition on the Pillar system. And she won't be turned down like Ascot was.
- Tina is part of the challenge, and will engage with the other sister after Umi has her duel. Once on the arena, she reverts her Rune God-esque armor to her "default", showing her true appearance to them.
- After Umi wins, Tina gets ready, and is at an emotional disadvantage when Tatra all but strips down for her duel. Upon being tripped up by her weapon's snagging feature, Tina then asks for an update for the rules for the duel, and Tatra will allow the use of Tina's spells, but no armor form.
- Even with more combat options, Tatra proves extremely difficult such that it's all Tina could do not to lose. She had to use every spell she knew of in her arsenal just to get ahead. But eventually, Tina does suffer defeat under Tatra, but a third round between her an Umi followed, now that it's sort of fair with both of them fatigued. Tatra claims she's barely winded, but Umi is not daunted even as the Djinn arena remove the earth summoned. is cleared of earth.
- When Chizeta's vessel makes contact and it's Djinn form the bridge, Tina walks with Umi and the princess as they return to the castle.
- Upon hearing the explosions, Tina was already running with everyone else. Upon encountering Alba, she joins in the fight, but even as she tries sealing it up, it always slips out of her.
- Once the time came for the finishing blow, right between Fuu's Emerald Cyclone and Umi's Ice Blade, Tina casts a new spell: "Sand Hurricane", lacerating Alba further.
- Because Presea is busy with the other citizens, it's Sierra who tries to convince Alceone to tell them where Debonair is.
- When Umi ends up flung outside the castle, after Ascot's Beast friend rescues her, Tina casts Earth Wall to block the breach, then joins the Magic Knights to convene with Clef to report the crumbling having reached the castle, and see Eagle Vision with him and Hikaru. Only Tina draws her Escudo as she asks what he's doing out of his cell.
- Still, after an explanation, she stands down, and even helps everyone hurry via Earth Slider to the FTO.
- After hearing that Hikaru is a potential Pillar of Cephiro alongside Eagle, Tina already hopes that Eagle would be the chosen one. He already doesn't have long to live, and she doesn't want Hikaru to bear the burden like Emeraude has.
- When Nova's "Rune God" shows up, despite being daunted last time, Tina armors up and joins the Magic Knights anyway.
- When Hikaru reveals that Nova is her heart's shadow, Tina chimes in that Shadows from one's heart should not be rejected, but accepted as part of what she is. However, given that Nova's probably a creation of Cephiro in response to Hikaru's emotions, maybe…
- Tina only has time to seal herself in Citrine Prison, which breaks from Nova's Lightning Call, but she comes out mostly unharmed compared to the Rune Gods, though visibly worn out. She doesn't manage to catch the next one, sending her into Windam's arms. She manages to get up once more by the time the FTO shows up to save them.
- Tina is teleported alongside everyone else into Nova's domain for their battle.
- Unlike everyone else, Tina doesn't hesitate in fighting, focusing on targeting the limbs. It helps that she's more mobile.
- Even so, she eventually goes down just like the other two Rune Gods.
- When Windam and Ceres get back up to aid Rayearth once more, Tina gets to work on smashing the core where Lantis is held prisoner. But when Nova shoves everyone off, Tina hangs on but can't continue breaking him free before Nova swats her off too.
- When Debonair shows up, Tina realizes who she's going for, trusts Fuu and Umi to protect Hikaru, and jets towards the FTO. She casts Citrine Prison on a specific part of the FTO that she hopes is the cockpit and maintains the spell.
- Still uncertain if she manages to save him, everyone else believes he died and the Rune Gods merge. Thankfully, once the dust has settled, it's revealed that the Citrine Prison has successfully taken hold, but Tina ends up completely spent as she falls over unconscious. The crystal vanishes without her focus and the cockpit falls over.
- Lantis gets up, approaches Eagle's cockpit, and extracts him. Despite Tina's efforts, Eagle is not long for the world, but he manages to bid farewell to Lantis before finally expiring.
- After taking the time to mourn him, he finds the comms system in the cockpit and calls the MSX to retrieve their commander…for a proper burial back in Autozam.
- The Rune Gods eventually approach, and find out what happened before then taking Tina and Lantis with them, though Rayearth has something else to do. The MSX stops by to retrieve Eagle's body and what remains of his FTO.
- When Alceone realizes it's not Presea who's interrogating her, she also deduces that this is actually her sister Sierra. There is no deception in this iteration, but Sierra's dedication to Clef is still real.
- Tina is with Umi and Fuu as they approach Alceone. When Debonair tries to kill her for trying to reveal her location, Tina tries to save her with a Citrine Prison, but she's still drained from the last battle, and would've been a futile endeavor anyway. Tina angsts over this, saying Alceone deserved to be rehabilitated by Clef.
- Still, she had enough willpower in her (as well as something called coffee) to depart with the Rune Gods once again to face Debonair. She also joins in piercing the darkness with Citrine Stalactites.
- For much of the fight, once the Rune Gods fuse, Tina stays on the shoulder as an observer.
- Once the fight is finally over, and Hikaru makes her proclamation, Tina makes sure to take it all in, and realize that this is "the answer". And when the Rune God fusion vanishes, she almost moves to catch the Magic Knights, but realizes it's not necessary.
- Once the four are back in Tokyo, there is relief that their mission is finally over.
- On the year after, Tina is not with the three, having since departed with her family on her next mission, but she has a letter sent to tell them that not only their willpower can send them to Cephiro once again and back, but they still have their spells as Magic Knights even on Earth. They should be careful with their powers moving forward now that they know this.
Aaand that's it. See ya on Third! Elsewhere.
