nightelf37: Here's my next entry.
The Story Crew in YuGiOh! GX
nightelf37: This will assume you perused the titular fic in the site. As I have established there, Onadi is my Hat Guy OC for the story, and the various NPC students from the Tag Force games make appearances too. Now for what would've happened had I continued this fic.
Lore
Unlike Hat Guy in the games, Onadi is not a late riser, and his diet is regular, though he doesn't hate Banner's food either. Shining Friendship is his Duel Spirit partner. He's also 100 percent human.
Now for the story events.
Season 1
- Something I decided to go on thanks to me playing Tag Force 1. When I went grinding for Duel Points, as soon as I had a good enough deck, I often Dueled against Obelisk Blue student Andrea, because her T-Rex deck (eventually supplanted on Tag Force 2 onwards by Tyranno) was relatively easy, yet challenging enough, to take on compared to other Obelisk Blue students.
- In this fic, Andrea is one of the girls accompanying Alexis during the events of the episode A Duel In Love, and while she duels Jaden, Andrea is invited by Onadi to duel. It would be the start of a budding romance.
- Throughout the year, Onadi makes quite the reputation as he is known for having no set deck preference, though it's known that he doesn't tend to go for raw power in monster ATK. He gets known for his high marks, though he's skipped classes a few times to duel the other teachers. Marcel of Ra Yellow has also become a student Onadi regularly duels with. (In Tag Force, I also dueled him a lot). Curiously, Onadi can trounce Jaden easily, but he reports having difficulty against Chumley and Syrus.
- Among his decks, ever since Blair's brief time in the Academy, is one that centers on The Unhappy Girl's monster-jamming effect.
- Despite his reputation, Onadi declines on becoming Duel Academy's representative for mysterious reasons. In actuality, the Story Crew expressly prohibits him from becoming more iconic than he currently is.
- After the rescue of Atticus, Onadi makes sure to deliver Yasmin's words to him.
- Due to getting a bug earlier, Onadi was unable to make it to Chancellor Sheppard's meeting to inherit a Spirit Key.
- The Seven Shadow Riders all have minions that try to duel the other guardians for their keys, but Onadi intervenes where he can.
- At some point, Onadi discovers a secret laboratory, and after doing a big favor to the head scientist, he's permitted access to the Card Generator, and is able to procure a soul-safe Illusion Gate card, which he has since used in all of his decks.
- Kagemaru has an A.I. companion in his mech who duels Onadi. They finish their duel much faster, and it shuts down just as Kagemaru absorbs enough duel energy to get his youth back. Afterwards, the hat-wearer can do nothing more than watch and hope Jaden wins his duel.
- The reason Zane did not choose Onadi for his graduation duel is because the hat-clad boy already has dueled him a few times; he wanted his last duel here to be special, and he never dueled Jaden yet.
Season 2
- Around this time, Onadi has been bumped up to Ra Yellow and has acquired a new Duel Disk he calls the Duel Belt, which lets him relax both arms even while dueling. It also comes with a compartment for removed-from-play cards. There are also no regulations in regards to Dueling devices, so there were no problems. His uniform was changed, but he keeps his hat.
- Before retiring, Chancellor Sheppard gifts Onadi a Forbidden Card Licence, allowing him the use of one Forbidden Card per deck. Onadi places the Cyber Jar in his decks. At some point, Chazz ditches the Dark Scorpions to Onadi, believing they're in more capable hands with him; he's already got his hands full with the Ojamas.
- By this point, it's become a matter of fact that he and Andrea are an item in the Academy. He's also become known for making excellent Tag Duel decks that even allow him to win alongside the cafeteria chef Dorothy, who is much less experienced in dueling than even the SR students. It's also become known that the chef assistant Sadie is a very proficient duelist, too.
- Besides Tyranno (which Onadi insists calling him by) and Aster, a new quintet of girls join OB and Onadi duels each of them. He has the most friction with Wisteria and her attitude.
- Despite Aster's reputation and Sartorius' ability to change fate, Onadi (though always close) is able to prevail against them, though only in Draws, a miracle in and of itself.
- After Light!Chazz takes over the Obelisk Blue Boys Dorm, Onadi sees this as an omen for what's to come and tries to "rescue" who he can. Unfortunately, shortly after Alexis is claimed by the Light, by the time she takes over the Girls Dorm, he's only able to "save" Andrea, Mindy, Jasmine, and the five newcomer girls, and they have to bunk at the other two dorms.
- Time passes on, as well as the trip to Domino City, in which Onadi purchases a few booster packs from Solomon Muto.
- As Ra Yellow Dorm slowly falls to the Light, he manages to "save" Marcel, Professor Sartyr, and the girls staying at RY before Bastion falls.
- During the GX tournament, Onadi roams the school looking for and dueling Light members to take back. He also runs into Zane, but despite defeating him, he's unable to return the elder Truesdale to his senses. He ultimately loses to Blair, partly out of disbelief from how much she's grown (physically) over a single year, and partly from her non-Maiden in Love deck, which his current deck, specialized against that card, was ill-equipped to match with.
- Ultimately, Onadi was unable to intervene in the final battle against Sartorius.
Season 3
- Onadi finally makes it to Obelisk Blue, and is gifted a Duel Coat by Crowler himself for his exceptional marks despite his few absences from dueling teachers. He also gets to meet Bonaparte's nephew Marcel, different from the other one. More confusingly, both are in Ra Yellow.
- With the biobands, Onadi is always picking his battles, but always takes time to try and duel Viper, even winning a few times. He also has enough willpower not to pass out after a duel.
- Thanks to training from his father, Onadi is able to get himself acclimated quickly to the duel spirit world and use his Monsters, Spells, and Traps accordingly.
- After Jesse's disappearance, during Sheppard's narration on Yubel's history, Onadi wonders just how Seto was convinced to launch two separate rockets for Neos and Yubel given how expensive spacecraft are, Sheppard remembers Yugi being sighted; he probably managed to convince him.
- Before leaving to the Duel Spirit world with Jaden and the others, Onadi leaves his Shining Friendship card to Andrea as a promise of his return. Somehow, her proximity to him, as well as the trip to the Duel Spirit world has enabled her to feel duel spirits, though they're still invisible to her.
- He gets captured by Brron, and his soul is used for the Dark Canon. However, a Story Crew measure saves him from getting "Starstruck". However, falling over and passing out instead still makes Jaden assume he was also done in. Assumed dead, everyone soon left him behind. Onadi awakens sometime after, and has to strike out on his own. He eventually reunites with Jim and Axel.
- Even after Jim is sent to the stars by the Supreme King, while Axel flees, Onadi challenges Jaden to a duel, but the dark ruler gets an underling to duel in his place before departing with the rest of his army. After star-striking the underling, Onadi theorizes that perhaps Jaden to some degree realizes how likely he would've lost to the hat-wearer and refused to take chances.
- He eventually reunites with the rest of the heroes and gets to witness everything else that happens. Onadi is unable to intervene or take the place of anyone else in the duels. Yubel also outright refuses to duel Onadi since he's not the one she's after.
- Onadi returns with everyone else thanks to Jaden's desires.
Season 4
- Life goes on, Jaden is in a state of depression, and as a means of keeping him from going off the deep end, even when everyone else in SR has since moved up to RY or OB, Onadi decides to bunk at the SR dorm with him. Onadi and Andrea, after getting approval from the former's family, are now engaged. He also notes the newcomer Yusuke Fujiwara, and is unaffected by his brainwashing, as Story Crew operatives are immune to such things.
- Being immune to memory manipulation, after his first victory against Trueman, he begins to get a tad paranoid and keeps Andrea close by as students start disappearing. This includes sleeping in the same room (but not the same bed). However, she is eventually claimed in the night while Onadi slept. Upon waking and realizing she's gone, he goes crazy with delirium and despair for a while.
- Trueman tries yet again to duel him and thinks Onadi's sanity slippage would give him an advantage, but he manages to regain his senses, and his resolve becomes all the stronger. He eventually reunites with Jaden. But eventually, only he and the former Supreme King remain as the last ones standing between victory and oblivion for the world as they soon face Nightshroud. He splits in two to duel them both, and declares he will only back away if BOTH of them win.
- After rescuing everyone, come graduation day, everybody is starting to move on, but Onadi notices Jaden is missing. Upon wandering into the exhibition gallery, he finds Jaden there with Yugi, and them taking a timeslip to the world of the past. He decides to wait there, and is rewarded with their return. It's confirmed that Jaden lost his duel, but his passion for it has returned.
If I continued onto 5D's, Onadi would return as a New Domino City resident who isn't into the classism against Satellite. He and Andrea will have by then be married, but still too young to start raising kids. He will also have an Elemental Hero/Warrior deck among his numerous ones, but none that Jaden used, instead focused on E-Hero Ocean, Woodsman, and Terra Firma. Somehow, they would've been embroiled in Yusei's adventures, though only Onadi partakes in Turbo Duels and has a Duel Runner for it. Andrea rides a standard motorcycle to keep up with him in case a Turbo Duel occurs to serve as moral support.
nightelf37: And that's it. I've stopped following Yu-Gi-Oh! since season 2 of 5D's. To think of all the stories I could do… but that's neither here nor there. See ya on Third! Elsewhere.
