The first night at Beacon, students are splayed out in sleeping bags. Ruby, in her pajamas and with a sleeping mask around her head, is writing in a journal when Yang crashes next to her, similarly dressed.

Yang: It's like a big slumber party!

Ruby is not looking up at Yang.

Ruby: I don't think Dad would approve of all the boys, though.

Yang: I know I do!

Yang purrs as she watches a shirtless Habib... and Jaune, dressed in feetie pajamas, waving to her, which makes her groan before she returns her attention to Ruby.

Yang: What's that?

Ruby: A letter to the gang back at Signal. I promised to tell them all about Beacon and how things are going.

Yang: Aw, that's so cuuuute!

Yang has been knocked back by a pillow that was launched at her face.

Ruby: Shut up! I didn't get to take my friends with me to school! It's weird not knowing anyone here!

Yang: What about Jaune? He's... nice! Or how about Habib he's handsome and strong. There you go! Plus two friends! That's a hundred percent increase!

Ruby turned on her back.

Ruby: Pretty sure Weiss counts as a negative friend. Back to one...

Yang: There's no such things as negative friends! You just made one friend and one enemy!

Yang is hit with another pillow, this time looking like a dog, to the face.

Yang: Look, it's only been one day. Trust me; you've got friends all around you! You just haven't met them yet!

The two sisters notice a candle being lit nearby, and Blake is seen leaning against a wall, reading her book.

Ruby: That girl...

Yang: You know her?

Ruby: Not really. She saw what happened this morning, but left before I could say anything.

Yang: Well, now's your chance!

Yang grabs Ruby's arm and lifts her up.

Ruby: Wait! What are you doing?!

Blake looks over her book to see Ruby unsuccessfully struggling against Yang's grip as she leads her sister over to Blake's spot before letting go.

Yang: (singing) Hel-looooo! I believe you two may know each other?

Blake: Aren't you... that girl that exploded?

Ruby: Uh, yeah! My name's Ruby! But you can just call me Crater... (smiles, embarrassed) Actually, you can just call me Ruby.

Blake looks back at her book.

Blake: Okay.

Yang: (whispers to Ruby) What are you doing?

Ruby: (whispers back) I don't know - help me!

Ruby smiles again.

Yang: So... What's your name?

Blake sighs as she's distracted yet again.

Blake: Blake.

Yang: Well, Blake, I'm Yang, Ruby's older sister! I like your bow!

Blake: (irritated) Thanks!

Yang: It goes great with your... pajamas!

Blake: Right...

While Ruby and Yang are meeting Blake, a shirtless Habib went to where they are.

Habib: What's going on here. Some people are trying to sleep.

When Habib appeared Ruby blushed, while Yang and Blake blushed while having a nosebleed. Yang and Blake covered their nose.

Ruby: (Blushing) Sorry Habib did we wake you up?

Habib: No you three didn't wake me up I just got back from a walk.

Yang: Hello handsome my name is Yang.~

Blake: (Blushing) I'm Blake.

Habib: Nice to meet you, Yang, Blake my name is Habib. So why are you three still up?

Yang: I'm helping my sis to make new friends.

Blake: I was reading.

Habib saw Ruby who is still blushing.

Habib: Hi Ruby.

Ruby: (Blushing) H-Hi Habib.

Yang looks back at Blake.

Yang: Nice night, don't you think?

Blake: Yes - it's lovely! Almost as lovely as this book!

Ruby, Habib, and Yang stand there.

Blake: That I will continue to read.

Ruby, Habib, and Yang continue standing.

Blake: As soon as you leave!

Blake looks at Habib while blushing.

Blake: (Blushing) You can stay here if you want Habib?

Ruby and Yang look at Blake with jealously then

Yang: (to Ruby) Yeah, this girl's a lost cause.

Ruby: (to Blake) What's it about?

Blake is surprised.

Blake: Huh?

Ruby: Your book. Does it have a name?

Blake: Well... i-it's about a man with two souls, each fighting for control over his body.

Habib: Two of my friends like reading that book.

Habib: 'Twilight read that book five times while Hermione read that book fifty times.'

Yang: (sarcastically) Oh, yeah... That's real lovely!

Ruby: I love books. Yang used to read to me every night before bed. Stories of heroes and monsters... They're one of the reasons I want to be a Huntress!

Blake laughs a little.

Blake: And why is that? Hoping you'll live happily ever after?

Ruby: Well, I'm hoping we all will. As a girl, I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books... Someone who fought for what was right, and protected people who couldn't protect themselves!

Blake: That's... very ambitious for a child.

Blake's smile turns into a frown.

Blake: Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale.

Ruby: Well, that's why we're here! To make it better.

Yang: Oh, I am so proud of my baby sister!

Yang hugs Ruby into the air.

Ruby: Cut it out!

The forced sisterly bonding evolves into a dust cloud of fighting limbs and flying stars.

Blake is laughing slightly while (Y,N) smiles.

Blake: Well, Ruby, Habib, Yang, it's a pleasure to ha-

Weiss is storming to where the four teens are in her own pajamas as Ruby traps Yang's leg.

Weiss: What in the world is going on over here?! Don't you realize some of us are trying to sleep?

Weiss and Yang looked at each other.

Weiss & Yang: Oh, not you again!

Ruby: Shh! Guys, she's right! People are trying to sleep!

Weiss: Oh, now you're on my side!

Ruby: I was always on your side!

Yang: Yeah, what's your problem with my sister? She's only trying to be nice!

Weiss: She's a hazard to my health!

Habib: 'How can someone be a hazard to someone else.'

Blake, who rolls her eyes at the fight, simply closes her book, reaches over to grab her candle, and blows it out. The next day Habib got up and got ready for Initiation. Habib went to the lockers to get his weapon. When he arrived to his locker he saw Ruby and Yang in the next locker.

Habib: Hello Ruby, Yang.

Ruby and Yang blushed when they saw Habib.

Ruby & Yang: (Blushing) H-Hi Habib.

Before anyone said anything else a black-haired boy heads out while a skipping orange-haired girl follows, passing Ruby, Habib, and Yang as they are busy readying themselves.

Ruby: Wonder what those two are so worked up about?

Yang: Oh, who knows? So, you seem awfully chipper this morning!

Habib: Yang is right, you do seem chipper today.

Ruby: Yep! No more awkward small talk or "getting-to-know-you" stuff. Today, I get to let my sweetheart do the talking.

Ruby strokes Crescent Rose as she sighs happily.

Yang: Well, remember, Ruby, you're not the only one going through initiation. If you wanna grow up, you're gonna have to meet new people and learn to work together.

Ruby sighs in frustration.

Ruby: You sound like Dad!

Ruby shoves her weapon into the locker.

Ruby: Okay, first of all: What does meeting new people have to do with fighting? And secondly: I don't need people to help me grow up! I drink milk!

Habib: I don't think that's how it works?

Yang: But what about when we form teams?

Ruby suddenly becomes nervous.

Ruby: Um, I don't know, I... I'll just be on your team or Habib's or something...

Yang is bringing her hair around her shoulder and stroking it.

Yang: Maybe you should try being on someone else's team?

Habib: It would help you make some new friends.

Ruby: My dear sister Yang and friend Habib, are you two implying that you two do not wish to be on the same team as me?

Yang: What? No! Of course, we do! I just thought... I don't know, maybe Habib is right it would help you... break out of your shell!

Ruby: What the-?! I don't need to 'break out of my shell'! That's absolutely-

Jaune: Ridiculous!
