Watching as his commanding officer talked to the group of four girls, Magno's fingers lightly drummed on the handle of his sword. His nails ever so slightly scratched against the metal. Taking several deep breaths, he slowly exhaled while firmly gripping it. This talk was going nowhere. Gently setting the wanted man's weapon down, he pushed his chest forward while slowly pulling his sword out.
Eyeing him, Litios raised an eyebrow before blinking and looking forward as he heard two weapons clash. "Shit." He mumbled under his breath as he saw both Ceasar and Kagami at odds with one another. Taking a single step back, he reached down with his left hand and pulled out a long straight sword. As he did, he set the bag of explosives aside and readied himself.
Immediately drawing her own heavy duty blade, Jess narrowed her eyes at her younger sister as the two leaders veered off. "Christmas..." She lightly growled while baring her teeth.
Flinching a bit, Kris held tightly onto her dual weapons while stepping back. Taking a deep breath, she took a step forward with her jaw clenching. "Don't even try scolding me. Mother's never did anything and neither will any of yours." Flicking her wrist, the blades of her candy cane weapons shot out with a sharp shing.
Inhaling slowly, the older redhead's glare hardened as a fury only a sibling would know burned in her eyes. With lightning speed, she lunged forward. Her weapon collided with her sister's as she leaned in. "Why do you still purposely go out of your way to break all the rules you physically can?" She shouted. "When will you just grow up?"
"When will you realize I have already!" The younger sister snapped back before quickly taking a step away. Twirling her dual weapons, she held out her right arm to gently tap her weapon against her sister's sword. Pulling it away, she spun them both once more before gripping them both tight like they were tonfas. Ever so slightly, she grinned.
Rolling her eyes, Jess scoffed a bit before flashing a half smile. Bringing her arm back, she let out a fierce battle cry as she swung forward. The light of the moon glinting against her blade.
Narrowing her eyes, Kris stepped forward. She raised both her arms just as her weapons parried against the other. The metal skidded across each other as sparks scattered. Quickly pulling away, she wasted no time as she shot forward. As she did, she tossed the weapon in her right hand forward.
The older sister swiftly dodged to the side just as the blade lodged itself into the wall. Pushing off with her back foot, she swung her blade around and locked it against the smaller redhead's. "Christmas..." She lightly growled while leaning forward.
"Yes?" She smiled maniacally while leaning in against her weapon. Reaching up with her right hand, she lightly flicked at her sister's nose. She then quickly slid around her while pressing a button on her weapon. The blade shot outward, lodging itself into the wall next to her other one. Retracting the chain, she flung herself backwards. Jerking the blade in her left hand free, it snapped back into place as she reached out with her right hand and pulled her second candy cane weapon out. Twirling them around once, she readied herself once again with a smile.
As the two sisters went at it, Elise was in the middle of a fight of her own. Tucking and rolling across the road, she heavily exhaled while swinging her rifle onto her back. "I was not planning for a one v one tonight." She lightly shook her head while reaching back and pulling out her baton. Turning around as she stood, she backhanded the blunt weapon around with a faint battle cry.
Blocking against her with ease, Litios narrowed his eyes a bit. "I was really hoping you weren't planning on bringing a gun to a sword fight." He half chuckled before taking a single step back. "So I'm happy you brought that little thing out. Though it won't end well. It's still wimpy."
"You know, I'm pretty sure it's the other way around!" She grunted while swinging her baton again. As the two weapons collided, she blinked twice as she heard a crack. Quickly pulling away, her eyes went wide at her melee weapon and the crack in the middle. "Come on! I just got this!" She pulled it close before furrowing her brow. Grabbing it with an under over hand grip, she twisted it where it was cracked. Hearing a soft click, she pulled the two ends apart. Twin hidden blades sliding out. "Oh." She bounced slightly. "I didn't know they did that."
"Really?" He raised an eyebrow before slipping to the left and then to the right to dodge a swing from each of the short blades. "Are you serious?" He switched his sword into a reverse grip before swinging upward while stepping forward.
"Kinda." She lightly chuckled while holding the blades side by side. Grunting, she parried against his weapon while jumping back. "Hmm..." Her head tilted a bit as she thought to herself. "I wonder if I could mount this onto my rifle. A sorta pitchfork rifle in a way. That sounds cool." She nodded before ducking underneath a swing.
"And here I thought I was the most careless when in a fight." Smiling to himself, he brushed his right hand over his blade. "You have proven me wrong." Stepping forward with his off hand, he reached out. His skin changed to the same silvery metal as his sword. Firmly gripping one of the twin blades, he smiled while pushing his sword up against the other. "You're still outclassed."
"That is how it usually is." Elise nodded. Softly exhaling, she jerked away before narrowing her eyes. Rather than countering his next attack, she took a deep breath. Stepping to the side, her body faded into a faint mist before fully reforming again. Letting out a faint battle cry, she swung both the weapons around to strike him in the back with the dull ends.
Litios grunted a bit as he stumbled forward. His gray aura fizzled faintly. "Alright! That hurt!" He turned around with a cold glare.
"Oh. Uh-oh." The brunet softly let out. Stepping to the side with smoke trailing behind her again, his weapon seemed to slice straight through her without any harm. "Okay um, sorry. I didn't mean to do that." She dashed to the side again with quick movements. Dropping down, her leg swept under his. Quickly stepping back, she twirled the weapons before taking a stance. "Though I don't think I am that out classed. I think I'm pretty good."
"Or you're just really lucky..." He flashed his teeth while pushing himself up. Grabbing the blade of his sword with his already metal hand, the rest of his arm along with shoulder and part of his neck changed to the same color. "You seem like a dumb luck kind of person."
"Hey now! I'm not just dumb luck!" Elise defended. Her eyes narrowed before she pushed off with her back foot. "I do have some skill!" She shouted before taking a deep breath as she went to attack.
While her friends managed to decently hold their own, Cheyenne was having a bit more trouble when put up against the Atlas specialist. Heavily grunting as she swung her handmade club around, the Faunus bared her teeth as it bounced off a metal blade. She took a step back before backhanding it against the sword to deflect an incoming attack.
"Your own leader's arrogance will be your downfall!" Magno roared as he stumbled back. Shaking his head as he caught his balance, he narrowed his eyes ahead. Slicing his sword through the air, he blocked several ice Dust blasts. He then swung the ice covered blade around, slamming it into the ground as the ice shattered like glass and fell off. Sliding a foot back, he quickly lunged towards her.
She took a deep breath, and with her rifle already out, used the firearm to clash with his weapon. Reaching down with her left hand, she grabbed the club on her hip and swung it upward while stepping back. A heavy thud echoing as the bone weapon collided with the soldier's chin.
"Guah! Damn it!" He hissed as part of his light orange aura fizzled. Clenching his jaw, he regained his footing before inhaling sharply. "Damn you!" He snapped while dashing forward. Rather than attacking with his sword, he dropped down. His leg sweeping underneath her's. Quickly pushing himself up, he raised his foot and drove it into the unbalanced girl's chest and sent her flying back.
Tumbling across the ground, Cheyenne let out a soft grunt followed by a groan. Taking a deep breath, she sat herself up and gripped her weapon tight. "Okay... that hurt..." She shook her head slightly before blinking as she looked beside her. Her left hand brushed across something. Her eyes slowly went wide at the restraints formerly holding the criminal that were now laying on the ground. "Guys...!" She squeaked before hearing a voice coming from behind here.
"Thanks for the distraction, kid." With a groggy tone in his voice, the dazed man sat on the ground with his backpack between his legs. In his hands, several different electrical parts were forced together with bits of red and blue Dust sticking out. "I owe you one!" With a psychotic smile, he raised his fist and slammed it into the device. His aura pulsing into the crystals and triggering them.
With fear flashing in her eyes, the Faunus' heart skipped a beat. Her pupils were shaking as she tucked her knees into her chest and buried her head between them. Her arms moving up and wrapping around the back of her head.
"Oh shit...!" Magno took a single step back. Dropping his sword onto the ground, he swung both his hands up before balling them into tight fists. Clenching his jaw, he flashed his teeth as a faint yellow orange glow came from his hands. Around the criminal, the same yellow orange color began to form in the shape of a sphere. Though, he was too slow.
The makeshift bomb went off, shattering the force field around it before it could finish forming. The barrier only partially contained the explosion as a burst of fire of ice shards scattered around the road.
Both the Eve sisters quickly stopped their fight while Litios and Elise stumbled away slightly. Magno himself fell backwards from the blast as part of his orange aura fizzled away just as Cheyenne let out a scream.
Moments before, Captain Caesar lightly sighed as she pulled away from Kagami. Her sword was still laying on the ground at her feet. "Good. Good." She crossed her arms. "Some friendly advice though, Regen's semblance isn't just about singing. Performing isn't just about how good your voice is. The amount of emotion you can put in and how much control you have also matters. Not that anyone cares to think that far into it. But I'm sure any bit of information helps you." She smirked before her expression changed and became serious. "Cin's... you need to be incredibly careful. Okay?" She began to put emphasis on her words. "You can not let him lay a single finger on you. He can-" She was cut off. An explosion rocking the world around them. Gritting her teeth, she caught her balance while glaring down the street.
Hearing a scream echo in her ears more than the blast itself, Kagami's breath hitched. "Chey..." She breathed out. Without hesitation, she reached down and snatched up the Atlas Specialist's sword in her left hand. Pivoting on her back foot, she pushed off while tightly gripping her own sword in her right hand. Baring her teeth, she didn't even glance back as she heard her name being called. Instead, she kept with her forward sprint with full focus.
With his ears ringing, Magno let out a heavy groan as he sat up. He reached up and rubbed his face a little before looking up. Smoke flowed through the air as several lights were turned on throughout the many apartments. Pushing himself up, he swayed slightly while stumbling ahead. "Hey..." He let out while taking a deep breath. Going down to one knee, he reached out towards the Faunus caught in the explosion. Before he could even come close to touching her, the hilt of his captain's sword struck his face. Falling back again, the weapon clattered to the ground beside him.
Skidding to a stop beside her, the jadette let out a near animalistic growl as she held her sword in a reverse grip. Inhaling sharply, she reached down to pick up her friend before narrowing her eyes over her shoulder. Her gaze met Elise's for a brief moment before she blinked and the two faded into a mist. Reappearing beside Kris, she reached out with her sword still in her grasp and grabbed the back of the redhead's jacket. All three of them disappeared.
"U-Um..." Elise stuttered while taking a single step back. She swallowed while glancing between the three specialists. With shaky hands, she went to slide the dual blades back inside each other only to fumble and struggle with doing such. "C-Come on! How does Kagami slide her sword away so easily?!" Finally getting both blades inside their slots, she slid the baton closed with a snap before twisting and locking it into place.
Running in while panting softly, Julia slowed to a stop as she watched a foggy smoke trail away. She looked at each one of her teammates before looking down at the criminal who had several shards of ice sticking out of his body. Taking a deep breath, she reached up to grab her nose. "What the hell..." She trailed off before sighing.
"He escaped his restraints while we were busy with your spoiled brats..." Magno coughed out while slowly sitting up. Both his hands rubbing his head. He groaned while quietly cursing under his breath. "And managed to get a hold of his equipment..."
"Pompey managed to put one of his bubbles around him to limit the blast radius." Litios spoke up while sliding his weapon away. Eyeing the bits of rubble and ice, he shook his head a bit before lightly shrugging. "It could have been way worse."
"He's right." Jess agreed with a nod while looking over towards many people snooping through their windows to see what was going on. "We should consider ourselves lucky. Kris and her friends nearly-"
"It wasn't just them, Eve." The captain took a deep breath. "This was the outcome of both our reckless actions." Picking up her weapon, she sheathed it before holding out her hand towards Magno. "We're going to state that our target put up a fight while we attempted to apprehend him and he managed to set off a bomb which he took his own life with, alright?"
He scoffed a bit while reaching out to grab her hand. "I still don't see how letting them get off free again helps anyone." He grumbled while being pulled up.
"I know you don't. But I do. I'm not saying this because I outrank you and I can tell you what to do, but because I have more experience. And I know when rules need to be bent." She clarified as distant sirens were heard. "Now let's get back to work."
Forming out of a cloud of smoke in a dark alley, Kagami let out a shaky breath as she let go of Kris and her sword. The weapon clattering at the redhead's feet. Kneeling down, she sat Cheyenne down. "Chey...?" She mumbled between breaths as she looked at her friend's face. Blinking once, she slowly pulled away as Elise appeared behind the group of girls.
Resting on her knees, the Faunus stared with wide eyes at herself. Breathing softly, she raised her hands to examine them. Not a single mark was on her body. Slowly, she brushed her fingers over her clothing. Parts of her wolf hood were torn while underneath, Kagami's green hoodie was completely untouched.
Sorry for the long wait. Things got a wee bit rough and I had to take a timeout. Things are better now so it's time to get back to work.
