Author's Note:

So, I'll save most of the boring stuff until after the chapter. Stick around for all the info moving forward. I will say two things right now.

I will be going on a hiatus after this as my last term of college has started. I will be busy for some time. When I do return, expect a triumphant one.

I also wanted to say thank you to the readers that have stuck with me so far. I have not been perfect but I hope I have provided an entertaining story if not nothing else.

Lastly, enjoy the chapter!

Remnants of a Courier

Chapter 32: Of Men and Beasts

An idle hum escaped Six as he whittled away on the piece of wood he was working on. It was the same piece he had been carving for the past month on and off. The thing was coming along nicely. Its front had been completed and the paws he had carved before now led up to furry legs. These led up to a dog's head with a glass case that contained its brain. Rex had been a good dog…

A fizzy drink sat on his desk as the Courier relaxed back into his chair. Things had been going great since that night at the docks a week ago. Files were decrypted, his plans were moved forward, and he even had another day off to himself. For once, Joshua was in a good mood.

Ever since the dock incident, the White Fang had been on the prowl for the Mimic. With Adam's help, this search went nowhere. Though the entirety of their little team was hearing Adam's bitching about it. Still, it got what they wanted from the White Fang. Anger and outrage.

The fools had even taken to the streets at times; defacing public property and spraying the line "Mimic Lies, Mimic Dies!" Apparently, his involvement and some of what Six had said during the incident had been leaked to some news outlets. The White Fang were taking it hard and openly advocating against what he was saying.

Thankfully, it was only the bits about the White Fang, Atlas, and the Academies that had been broadcasted. None of his riskier comments on "secret groups."

Law enforcement had been looking for him as well but had their hands full with the increased White Fang activity. This was serving to destabilize Vale even more.

Six's Pip-Boy beeped and he looked down to see the audio receiver in Ozpin's office had been activated. Deciding to listen in, Six pressed a button that cued him into the conversation.

"So, what did miss Belladonna and the rest of team RWBY say on the matters of what happened?" Glynda's question caused Ozpin to glance from his scroll screen to his secretary. She was more of an administrator of sorts but that was beside the point.

"Well, for starters, that the White Fang are still very much after Dust. If I had to guess, she is behind this." It was a bit vague to call their opponent "she" but all of these word games were required to maintain secrecy.

"I have also been informed that the queen has pawns from our informant… The identity of these pawns remains a mystery for now though I am confident they will be revealed in time." Ozpin paused to take a sip from the mug on his desk. "As for our other guest in Vale, I believe it's safe to designate him—as it is most assuredly him from the description of team RWBY—as a third party. Even if he is working with them; they are not his allies."

"How do we know this is not a ruse of some kind?" Glynda asked with her arms crossed and a brow raised.

Ozpin maintained eye contact with her while responding, "there's a certain conviction to his words… More than that, such words would get him into dangerous territories with his 'allies."

"Be that as it may," Goodwitch began as she tapped her arm. "It is obvious he is not with us as well. And even more concerning is this individual's break into your own office. If he manages to decrypt those files…"

"True enough." Ozpin closed his eyes for a few moments to think over the character of the Mimic. What motivated him? What was his reasoning for his actions? And, what was his end goal? The information the Mimic now had was going to make him an even bigger threat…

It was obvious that the Mimic was a wild card in this situation. A person who could help one side and hinder another or be a general nuisance for everyone. A chaotic force like that was bad for his plans but also bad for Salem as well. It was why he had only let some of the information received from Sun get to the press. This Mimic would have to be monitored closely.

Ozpin did not envy the individual. With seemingly no allies, most people in his situation wouldn't make it out alive. This was the likely outcome for such a man that made it apparent that everyone was his enemy. Though, it did give the Headmaster the perfect idea for the codename to be used.

"Miss Goodwitch, I will be giving this troublemaker the code name Wild Card, please refer to him as such from now on. I will pass this information on to the appropriate constituents."

A nod came from Glynda as she replied, "of course Ozpin. Is there anything else you need at the moment?"

The Headmaster shook his head before saying, "no, I think that will be all. You may return to your duties."

The professor gave a small bow before turning and heading for the elevator. Today was turning out to be a tad bit tiring. Lots of paperwork and planning. Speaking of…

Ozpin scrolled up his to-do list for the day and noted the disappearance of Logarius as a more urgent task now. The huntsman had been missing for months and the truth of the matter needed to be found. Once Qrow returned, he'd have another mission for him.

Well, that was interesting. The code name was appropriate. Though if someone was getting called a queen, then Six figured his alias could be the Wild Card King. That would have been perfect to fit with his old moniker from the Mojave.

Still, he'd have to cover his tracks even better from now on. It should be fine as long as he didn't slip up. That would mean all of the resources that he had acquired as well.

Speaking of, he was accruing a rather large sum of funds now. This also meant that he had more options and other resources open to him. All of this while he was essentially a non-entity in the world.

With this in mind, Six no longer had to rely on the Beacon workshop for equipment to work on the transportalponder. In time, he could get his own experimental workshop set up. It would still take a lot of testing and time but that would be enough to get the device put back together. Once that was complete, all the Courier would have to worry about would be the power source for it.

The research for a power source had been proceeding slowly. This was due to not having enough time or privacy at Beacon to properly experiment with dust or other similar power sources to recreate a similar energy to power the device. Hopefully, he could recreate the compound or one similar to it to power the transportalponder.

The compound itself was annoyingly complex. It was a combination of some unknown elements—likely isotopes and elements that were created by the Think Tank and thus one of a kind—and a more common and dangerous isotope. U-235: the kind of uranium used in nuclear bombs. The combined compound was toxic enough that Six had tossed the energy source into a remote location as soon as he got what he needed from it. Well, tossed was a bad term, more buried it in a custom-made container that would ensure minimal leaking until it was less dangerous.

That being said, at the end of the day, it was just a power source. One that created a specific kind of energy and reaction. In theory, he could hook up the device to a large enough power source and get it to work regardless. But that's why the unique reaction from the complex compound was used, so it didn't require a ludicrous amount of power. From his estimates, if he didn't find a proper replacement for the compound, it would take an entire nuclear factory to power the device. This was possible for him but it would take an extreme amount of time and resources on his part. Not to mention he would draw lots of unwanted attention.

Combine the previous complexity with the change of the periodic table in this world and it became increasingly hard to actually make the energy source. Some elements were missing which meant they weren't in ready supply, some elements had different names, and there were completely new ones Six had never seen before. Combining such things could prove dangerous as well which was why he needed a workshop of his own.

Another warehouse was purchased, made secure, and was currently having some higher-grade equipment and raw materials shipped there for Six's workshop. That would all take time and even when it was done there were other priorities on Joshua's plate. All of this made the research for the transportalponder annoyingly slow.

That was the end of the bad news.

His PMC had increased in size; up to 60 mercenaries now. Throughout the upcoming break, that number would likely jump to a 100 and that would be a very good start for the plans he had in store.

Since he was rocking a fairly hefty sum of Lien, it meant he had more room to breathe. Hell, Six bet he could put some "nobles" to shame now. All of this had been done in four months.

Four months… Combining that with his time with both Roman and the Spring family meant he had spent 8 months in this world. A lot of time to pass but Six had been busy.

That was why he had free time now. Today was the last day before the break for the students which meant a break for him. He'd have a couple weeks to get things organized and he had informed Roman that he'd take a week for "personal time."

This was so he could do three things. He'd check in with the Voidwalkers first and make sure nothing was going amiss there or that anyone was asking questions. He'd also hire an "overseer" to make sure things were going well for him as Six wouldn't always be there to do so. The second was to have the time to set up his workshop. The final thing was to spend some time with Carmine as he promised.

Speaking of children, team RWBY seemed to be doing fine after their little escapade. Six idly glanced out of the window of his room just to see if they were about near him. They weren't, probably for the best.

None of them had come bugging him and Ozpin wasn't busting down his door so they didn't figure out any connection between him and the Mimic. So far, they continued to be just as obnoxiously childish as they had been.

Adam had even come through on his end of the deal. A few routes and files on what the White Fang had been up to recently had been sent to him. Nothing important but it was enough to make sure Joshua could avoid them. The boss Faunus probably knew that if Six was cornered by White Fang he'd kill them.

To top it off, Adam also looked into the information he sent the Faunus. The attack Six mentioned to him was of import to the White Fang leader and after some digging the swordsman had found out when the attack was happening. It was going to occur sometime during the Vytal festival; specifically during the combat tournament. So, that was the time-table the Courier had to work with. A few months; four to five tops.

All of this was good. However, the most important development of the last week was not the advancement of his PMC, his workshop, nor his accruing resources. It was what he had discovered on the heavily encrypted—and now decrypted—files on Ozpin's device when he had broken into his office. It may have taken weeks but he was finally in.

The information connected a lot of the pieces he previously had but also raised more questions. A lot of the information even alluded to fairytales in this world.

The item of such import being contained beneath Beacon was not an item at all but was related to one. A "Maiden" as they were called was currently being kept alive on life support beneath the academy.

These Maidens had magical powers according to Ozpin's files. These were magical powers by the standards of people who could jump several stories and had what was essentially invisible titanium covering their skin. Six didn't like it.

There were four Maidens in total each with a different season and magical powers. These Maidens were somehow connected to "relics" but the files he received didn't tell him what these relics were. Only that they were items of power.

The file also mentioned who had injured the Maiden. A young woman with black hair, a red dress, mean attitude, and some kind of heat as her semblance. This sounded like Roman's boss. Though they still hadn't identified Cinder.

Apparently, Cinder had also stolen some of the Maiden powers and was seeking to claim the rest now. Likely why she enlisted the help of Roman and the White Fang to get as much dust as possible.

Some of the pieces were coming together. Cinder wanted into Beacon so she was using the White Fang and Roman to do so. She wanted this to get to the Maiden and steal her powers. She was doing that to increase her power and maybe get at these relics; whatever they were.

None of this explained how Ozpin was involved or who he actually was. The mysterious Headmaster was far more important than Six believed as he was the direct line of defense against Cinder and her forces.

But there was one more piece of information even more important than all of that. A single name.

Salem.

This person was the true enemy of Ozpin with the Headmaster labeling Cinder as this person's lackey though the Headmaster didn't know Cinder's identity yet. Ozpin and Salem were waging some kind of invisible shadow war. That was all he knew about this Salem. The files told him nothing else.

This was a disturbing development as it meant this game he had been pulled into was bigger than Six originally thought. It was more complex and meant a bigger problem. Now he'd have to research this Salem that almost no one knew about and still get everything else he had planned done.

The last thing he had pulled from those encrypted files? More passwords and one other entrance into the bunker under Beacon. He had already sent some of the information to Roman.

Roman now had a blueprint, a password, and an entrance into Beacon that he would pass on to Cinder. The other passwords and entrance would remain Six's secret for now.

The only other thing he had sent to Roman was team RWBY's files and all of the personality traits he had recorded while monitoring Penny. All of this information and his relative success at the docks meant he had enough leeway to get a week off.

Adam was Six's man on the inside for now. So, keeping to his deal and hoping to win Adam over. The Courier had sent the information he found about Maidens and even that Cinder worked for Salem to the Faunus. That would be enough to earn the White Fang leader's trust without giving the relics away. Hopefully, that would smooth over the "dock incident" too.

Joshua leaned forward and picked up his drink before bringing it to his lips. He made a quiet gagging noise after taking a sip. The soda was not good. Six took another sip anyway. He'd never get tired of the sheer variety of foods and beverages of this world.

A sigh escaped Six as he put the drink back down. He had one last thing to do for the day. He set the carving down before tapping a few buttons on the holographic display. His Pip-Boy buzzed as he made the call.

It rang for a few moments and Six sat there silently. Phone calls were still a bit weird to him so he was always a bit apprehensive before one. Using precious battery life to make for non-essential reasons and communicating with someone across a country just felt weird.

The call finally connected and he heard an older voice ask, "hello?"

"This is Joshua, I was wondering if you and Carmine could take a break, for about a workweek? I have a place for you to stay if you'd like to come visit me in the capital." Six hoped that Richter said yes. Him staying with them in Rhyt opened up the possibility of more Grimm attacking the small town.

"Well…" The older man began before pausing. It was likely that his daughter was in the room with him. Probably giving him puppy-dog eyes. "I don't know. We don't really have a way to get there."

"Don't worry, I'd drive there and pick you up. We'd drive back to Vale and then I'd drive you back to Rhyt once the trip was over."

"I…" There was another pause from Richter before a sigh escaped him. "Fine, when will we see you?"

"Two days from now," Six replied as rented out a decently sized apartment. He'd spend the day furbishing it before borrowing a Voidwalker vehicle later and driving there. It was a pretty long drive after all plus the Humvee was armored enough that if Grimm attacked they'd be okay.

"I don't think that's a-"

"Well it's been great talking with you but I'll have to get some stuff set up before I make the drive." After speaking, Six immediately hung up the phone so there could be no argument. Richter would complain later but it was better than attracting Grimm to the town.

Six dematerialized the carving before chugging the rest of his soda and throwing it away. Classes were finished for the day so he could head to the apartment now.

"No Shimada, you can't go! They'll kill you!" Claire called out after the ninja. It just wasn't fair what the clan was doing to him. How could they not only cast him out but demand he present himself for justice, all for loving her!

The dark-clad wolf-Faunus turned his head towards her as he gave her a grim look. "I have to, Ninjas have honor we must uphold."

"Please, don't," she pleaded while running towards him. "Escape with me! We'll get away from all this and live happily!"

"I can't… I-"

A loud slamming noise jostled Blake from her book. Yang was back. With a sigh, the Faunus closed her book before setting it down next to her. She took care to place the "Ninjas Know Love" title face down. It was a prequel to "Ninjas of Love" and quite good in her opinion but Blake doubted the others would see it that way.

"I brought snacks for everybody," the blonde said as she set a small container on the table between the two bunks beds. Once opened, the contents were revealed to be a good number of cookies.

A small "eeee" escaped Ruby as she dashed over. "You're the best sister ever!" Their leader's exclamation was followed by a good number of the cookies disappearing. Their leader certainly knew how to enjoy herself. Even if it was a bit excessive.

Weiss looked up from her notebook before saying, "please eat quietly. I'm trying to study."

"Shurry," Ruby said with a full mouth; causing crumbs to collapse onto the floor. Blake's ear twitched in irritation under her bow.

"So, Blake, how's Sun doing?" Yang's words brought her attention to the blonde. It had been a good bit since any of them had seen the Faunus. He was being questioned regularly and needed to heal. Still, they visited every now and then.

"He's doing well and set to make a full recovery," Blake responded while thinking of the wild Faunus. The guy seemed like a good person and even went with her to help stop the robbery. It was terrible that he got hurt during it but at least nothing terrible happened to him. Unlike the White Fang.

Blake had more than one nightmare about the dead Faunus so far. They weren't bad people; they were just lost.

"He is going to have to spend a couple weeks recovering and then continue taking it easy for a while after that." The cat-Faunus was not envious of Sun's situation. "Though he should be able to participate in the tournament if he wants."

"That's great to hear," Yang replied before moving over to the bunk bed and laying down below Blake. "Glad he's going to be up and ready for the tournament. I'm hyped to see what he can do! Anyone that can tangle with the Mimic must be awesome." Blake saw Weiss glance towards the blonde as she spoke.

The Mimic… Six… What were his motivations? More importantly, who was he? Blake had her own suspicious but she hadn't brought it up to anyone yet. Maybe it was time.

"You remember what Sun said. What do you all think the Mimic really wants?" Blake asked, turning her gaze to Ruby and Weiss.

Ruby stopped her eating to glance towards the former heiress as well. The white-haired girl had a grim expression on her face as she sat in thought.

"He seems like a murderer that just wants to show off," Yang replied first from below Blake. "The guy needs to be locked away forever."

Ruby gulped down the cookies in her mouth before saying, "he's dangerous. It really does seem like he wants attention."

"I'm more curious as to why he bothered to attack the White Fang. Why bother making enemies out of them when you already have notoriety?" Weiss's question was a good one but not something Blake could answer. "And with what you've said about what he was like during your time with him, he has a mind for strategy."

Blake remembered that time well. He was quiet then and only really spoke when spoken to. Of course, it had been an atmosphere that wasn't open to conversation. The guy had hurt so many people and was terrifying. He wasn't a good person. But at the same time, he had refused to execute Weiss and Whitley. That made him a bad guy with lines. Still, his attitude and weapons reminded her of someone else they knew…

"I… Have been thinking," Blake began as she hopped down from her head. The future huntress landed with the grace of both a cat and a ninja before continuing. "And I have a suspicion of who the Mimic might be."

Her three teammates turned their attention towards her and were keen on hearing her suspicion. The Faunus felt a little self-conscious at the attention as she wasn't really used to being in the spotlight.

"There is one person on campus that has the skill and weapons that align with Six's skillset…" Blake paused to soothe her nerves. It wasn't easy accusing someone of being the Mimic. "I think the Mimic could be Instructor House."

There were several incredulous looks given by her teammates. With Weiss being the first doubtful voice. "No way. Instructor House is a professional and has only been helpful."

"But think about it," Blake replied as she shifted on her bed to face the trio. Her legs dangled off as she continued, "he shows up when Ruby is in trouble. No one knows anything about his past. His fighting style and guns are very similar to Six's. And he also showed up right around when the Mimic did."

"House did say that the Mimic could be from Vacuo. That could be why their equipment is so similar." It was Ruby who piped up this time and she had a good point. Vacuo was known for its lack of natural resources and certain parts of it were like a wasteland. However, there was one other thing.

"Weiss, you have to remember the Mimic's attire. What did he wear on his left arm?" Blake paused as she held Weiss's gaze. It was this that sealed it for Blake. Everything about House and Six was eerily similar but the device strapped to their wrist was seemingly one of a kind.

"I'm… Not sure, a lot was going on at the time…" At Weiss's response, Blake sighed. She could understand not wanting to face the truth as Weiss had often gone to House for advice. That didn't mean she could turn away from the truth.

"He was wearing the exact same thing on his wrist that House does. You know, the computer wrist." Weiss glanced away at Blake's words as her other two teammates glanced towards her. "He wasn't wearing it at the docks but he was wearing it the first time I met him."

"So, you're trying to tell me that the Mimic is secretly masquerading as a guard and instructor at Beacon; one of the most prestigious Huntsman academies in the world." Yang's voice was one of disbelief as she threw up her hands before continuing, "why would he do that and how would he even get in?"

Blake bit her lip as she tried to think of a rebuttal. The Faunus wasn't sure why Six would bother hiding himself at Beacon. It was a huge risk to him with seemingly nothing to gain.

"And he hasn't done anything while he's been here," Weiss commented as she crossed her arms.

Then a thought occurred to Blake. Two things that the Mimic had happened that could be connected. It didn't answer all their questions but it was a start.

"Well, remember how the Mimic said he wanted to take down essentially every organized group in Vale?" Blake's question earned her a few nods from her teammates. "What if he came here to do that? What if that break-in at Ozpin's office wasn't random?"

The two sisters glanced towards each other as Weiss gazed down at her feet. The three seemed to process it for a moment before turning back to her.

"There still isn't any actual proof though," Weiss said with a sour expression on her face. "Even if it was true, there's nothing to support your claim."

"That's why I need your help. I'd like to try and find out what Ozpin knows of Instructor House. I'd also like to try and get some information off his wrist computer." A frown crossed Weiss's face at her words and even Ruby and Yang seemed hesitant to go through with the plan.

"Look at it this way," Blake began as she hopped down from the bed. "Either we prove he's innocent by investigating or we find out he's the Mimic and actually stop a criminal."

Her words seemed to win them over at least a little. They still didn't look thrilled at the idea but this new line of reasoning appealed to her teammates more. At least there was still a chance at finding out the truth. It was nagging at her that she couldn't do anything about the White Fang or the Mimic at the moment but maybe this was a start.

She was about to continue when a knock at the door ended their conversation. At the noise, Ruby was the first to dart over as she said, "I'll get it!"

Blake had to hide her momentary panic when the door was opened and House was standing on the other side in full uniform. He hadn't heard them, right?

"O-Oh, hi mister House! What're you doing here?" Even Ruby seemed to be a little nervous as they were just talking about him being the Mimic.

Their awkward attitudes seemed to not pass by their instructor who asked, "I'm not interrupting something am I?"

"Nope, we were just having a snack. Care for a cookie?" It was Yang that managed to stay cool as she brought the box of cookies over to their instructor.

"Sure." To Blake's surprise, House actually took one of the cookies. He lifted his helmet which subsequently lifted some bandages under it before he could take a bite of the snack. Blake noted his pale skin.

Their instructor chewed for a few moments as he lowered his helmet back down. "It's good, thank you," House said as he held the half-eaten cookie in one hand. "Don't have too many good snacks like this where I'm from."

That did raise an interesting question. Vacuo was where he was from but Vacuo was a big place. Where in Vacuo was he from? What setting did he grow up in to end up like that? Maybe she'd get answers after her investigation.

"So, what can we do for you mister House?" Ruby's question caused their instructor to turn towards her.

"Well, you've probably heard this before so I'll keep this brief," House said before pointing at Ruby. "It was very dangerous and irresponsible of you all to go and deal with the docks by yourselves a week ago and blah blah blah."

"Look," he continued, lowering his hand. "It was dangerous and you should have told somebody with more experience to help. However, people and huntresses like you are what keep Vale safe. If more people were proactive in stopping these kinds of things, well, the White Fang wouldn't stand a chance. So good job."

Yang gave their instructor a smirk as Ruby beamed at him. This was going to make things harder if House managed to butter them up.

"Thank you!" Ruby replied in an ecstatic tone.

House held up his cookie to silence her. For his troubles, the leader of team RWBY lunged forward and nearly took his hand off as she devoured the cookie in his hand.

A sigh escaped their instructor as he pulled his hand back. "More importantly, how are you all holding up? Something like that can be scary at the best of times. I'm just wanting to make sure you're all handling it fine."

"We're doing fine instructor House, thank you for your concern." It was Weiss who responded as she stood up from her bed.

"Just let me know if there's ever any trouble alright? I'm supposed to keep the school safe and that includes its students." At his words, Weiss nodded her head before glancing at Blake.

The Faunus had a small frown on her face that she had to wipe away as both House and Weiss turned towards her.

"I'm doing fine as well," she dismissed while waving her hand. It was a kind gesture but not one she truly believed coming from House. "We can handle ourselves instructor."

Their instructor held up his hands in a defeated motion as he replied, "fine, fine. You're all big girls now. I'm sure you can handle the big scary White Fang all on your lonesome. Just remember you have friends that will help if you ask."

House let his hands down before reaching back into the box to take another cookie. "One last thing before I go," he began while holding his cookie up and out of the reach of Ruby. "I'm going to be leaving for a week. I'm getting a break as well. It shouldn't matter much to all of you considering you'll be getting two weeks but I will be off-campus for a while."

"Oh, what're you going to be doing?" Yang asked in a voice that was dripping with suspicion. The blonde was probably thinking about the rumors again. "You wouldn't happen to be visiting someone would you?"

A sigh escaped their instructor as his shoulders sagged. "You've been listening to Cardin's whispering too much." House perked back up before continuing, "I'll be visiting close friends of mine or rather they'll be visiting me."

"Can we meet them?" Ruby's question caused the guard to pause for a moment.

"Probably not," he answered. While the group was talking, their instructor had been lowering the cookie just enough that Ruby would jump for it before pulling it back up. It was both funny and a bit sad in Blake's eyes.

"I imagine you have your own activities and people you want to see over the break. Plus I don't want to babysit even more people when it's supposed to be my time off." Even more people? Who was he going to be looking after?

His explanation caused Ruby to frown. "We're not that bad," she replied while shooting a pout towards their instructor.

"Whatever you say Ruby. Unless any of you need anything, I'll get going now." As their instructor finished, he turned on his heel before heading for the door. "You all have a good day now."

There was a soft thud of the door closing as the room fell silent.

"Well, he seems in a good mood," Yang commented as she turned to her team.

"Maybe something exciting happened to him?" At Ruby's question, Yang shrugged her shoulders.

"Eh, I bet he just doesn't like looking after teenagers. He doesn't really seem the type." Yang's statement was one she could agree with.

The Faunus picked up her book and returned to its pages as the rest of her team fell into casual conversation. Despite herself, Blake couldn't seem to focus on reading and the words lacked the same intrigue that she felt before.

All the future huntress could think about was Six and House. Were they really one and the same? What was House hiding and why was Six terrorizing Vale? There were far too many questions and not enough answers…

Author's Notes:

Let me start this by giving another big thank you to everyone who has made it this far. This has been an amazing experience so far. I feel I have improved my writing so much from starting this story. I have sunk an uncomfortable amount of time into writing this and the fact you're all reading it is amazing to me.

Again, the story is going on hiatus. Probably for at least two months but I'm gonna say anywhere upwards of four or five. I've got a lot of life stuff coming up that needs to get resolved and this is a good place to stop for a while.

Alright, the plan going forward is that after my hiatus I will return with hopefully several chapters lined up to post weekly again. There will be a few in-between chapters before the fourth arc truly begins. The fourth arc will cover seasons two and three plus a little extra. This will be what I believe everyone reading the story has been waiting for.

There is nothing too important beyond this point. Just responding to reviews! And maybe a rename for some of the "arcs" and the title drop for the next arc at the end…

Since this is the two year anniversary of this story first being uploaded, I'd like to respond to a few reviewers directly as a kind of special thank you. Also, to maybe answer a few questions.

One of my first "reviews" is from "An Indulgent Fellow." Good name. I specifically wanted to address I liked the line he wrote of "I pray you will narrate a tale of the Courier who, through thick and thin, found forgiveness in this world of Maidens and Dust." It was very poetic the way it was written. I won't comment on how the story ends though, spoilers.

"Ediros." Thank you for the in-depth perspective you gave and the varying points both compliments and criticisms.

"Kuwu." You left a positive response that I sometimes come back to read just for pick-me-ups. Thank you.

After this several people asked about his stats. I will be direct here and say that while his stats do influence the story, there are often-times where I put story first and New Vegas mechanics second. Likewise, he does not have max stats. Six does not have some of the feats that I found harder to explain or otherwise would make him overpowered.

It's good to see that you all enjoyed Thomas and his subsequent death effected people. I will do my best to always remember the character even to the end of the story.

"Epiccoolnessfactor3." Thanks for letting me know about Light in Shining Darkness early on. It kept me from keeping it on the inventory list despite it not being there.

Speaking of weapons, many commented on the arsenal that Six has and have asked questions about it. I will say, he does not have all of his weapons on him as he was taken to Remnant rather suddenly. Don't worry, the Blood Nap will make an appearance.

"kukuhimanpr." You've commented and followed this story for almost a year. Thank you! You've also made some fairly accurate guesses in your reviews.

"Atryx10." I now understand what you meant. Sorry for the confusion.

Several people have commented on it and I am glad you enjoy my interpretation of Adam. I try to give the character respect as I think he has a lot of potential.

"captaindickscratcher." I approve of the name. I've also agreed with many a thing you've said in your reviews. I'll let you figure out which.

To everyone that informed me about the Chibi series not being important. Thank you.

To the anonymous user who said read the DC comics for the series and where to read them for free. Thank you.

Some people have asked if mods for New Vegas are included in this story. They are not.

"Just an IsekaI writer" says, "since when did Six become a bitch? Also he's kinda cheap." This is true. He is kind of cheap.

"RajDjok" says, "I got the update of the three last chapters at the same time." This is because I uploaded those three chapters at the same time.

"thepkrmgc." Thank you for your enthusiasm for the story!

"Frescko" says, "Is this a Six x Neo ship?" I don't know. Maybe. Haven't really considered romances for the story.

"Keiser" and "itsFAX." Thank you for the incredibly kind reviews.

"WaysidePacer." Thank you for the very in-depth review. You make some good points. However, there is some information that has not been revealed yet that will possibly alleviate some of your questions. I won't spoil anything though.

"1 love m4gic." Thank you for all of your enthusiasm in the review section. It was interesting to read.

"x-x-TheBurnedMan-x-x." Great name, and we'll have to see. I won't spoil anything for you.

And since they're recent, the last two reviews that I will comment on are "Frescko's" most recent and "Destroyah7's."

Frescko, a good idea and something I might explore in the future. He has a lot on his plate at the moment.

Destroyah7. I humbly disagree. Penny shoots a beam that cuts two airships in half in a second. That would be like 10 paladins in power armor back to back being melted in a single moment. Firepower of that magnitude isn't seen very often in the Wasteland. There are also… Other reasons as to why Six has such a severe aversion to Penny, but I won't spoil that here. Also, Penny has an aura so I'm not sure if the pulse gun would work. I'll have to research that.

That's all of the reviews I will be commenting on. There are more but I've already gone on forever. Note, that I have read every single one and I appreciate all of them. Thank you!

The last thing I will tell you is that some of the arcs have been renamed. The current names are:

Arc 1 – "Bloody Spring"

Arc 2 – "Legend Crafting"

Arc 3 – "A Fairytale of Deceit"

And since you've stuck with me for all of this nonsense for the anniversary. Here's not only the next arc's name but a quote from the next arc.

Arc 4 – "Chaos Theory"

"Your leaders have failed you. Your protectors have failed you. She has lied to you. And now, you will see the 'profits' of democracy."

That's it for the 2 year anniversary chapter/special! I hope you've all enjoyed the story so far and will continue to stick with me as I explore RWBY and Fallout!
