Chapter 83: Showdown with the Demon
The fighting with Bahamut Sin went on.
Barret stood on the framing of a building that was under construction, opening fire on the creature.
In anger, Bahamut Sin turned toward Barret, and fired a green energy ball.
Barret quickly jumped out of the way, but he had no idea where he would jump to. He soon fell, saving his life at the last moment by grabbing onto a girder beam.
Vincent then made an attempt on Bahamut Sin by shooting at it with the Death Penalty, but he only got a few shots in before it took off in another direction.
As Bahamut Sin continued to fly off, Cid, who was standing on another unfinished building's framing, chased the creature, managing to jump onto its back and drive his spear right into it.
Cid held on with all his might.
Meanwhile, Bahamut Sin flew toward another unfinished building, hoping to knock Cid off.
Right before Cid made a fatal collision, rescue came his way.
"This way!" called Cait Sith as he and Red XIII took him to safety.
Meanwhile, Vincent stood on a nearby girder. He fired at Bahamut Sin, striking it in the tail.
Angrily, the creature turned toward Vincent, who jumped back to a vertical girder. Bahamut Sin passed over him, flying past Lucrecia on a nearby girder, before turning around and pursuing Vincent again.
Vincent fired on the creature, but the bullets failed to penetrate.
Bahamut Sin smashed the girder, sending Vincent into the air. It took several unsuccessful swipes at Vincent in the process.
Vincent managed to jump on the creature's shoulders, firing a few rounds into its face, though it was apparently doing nothing. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Yuffie running vertically up another girder; she seemed to be wearing a pear of magnetic shoes.
Yuffie threw a shuriken at Bahamut Sin, striking it in the head and causing it to knock off course.
Vincent saw his chance and jumped off of the shoulder.
Less than a second later, Red XIII jumped onto the face and sank his teeth in.
As the felid was struggling to tear a piece of flesh from Bahamut Sin, the summoned horror spotted Yuffie standing on a girder. Angrily, it formed blue energy in its mouth, preparing to fire upon the ninja girl.
Yuffie, realizing she had no escape, froze in horror.
Then, at the last possible moment, Cid jumped down and drove his spear into the head, causing Bahamut Sin to misfire, hitting an unfinished building instead.
Unfortunately, the falling debris was directly over Barret.
But then, Barret was suddenly pushed out of the way to safety. He looked to view his savior.
Zack was there, armed with both his buster sword and a jagged sword.
"The hell you been?" he demanded.
Zack didn't dignify that with response.
As Vincent, Yuffie, and Cid looked on from the beam, Zack jumped off his own beam and dove toward the creature.
He landed on the claw.
Zack swung his buster sword at the face.
Bahamut Sin caught it in its teeth.
Zack quickly pulled his sword and continued to slash endlessly and the monster's head.
Bahamut Sin knocked Zack off, causing him to land on a beam.
Zack quickly recovered, jumping onto the claw and resuming the face slashing as Bahamut Sin carried him through the air.
Finally, he struck the creature in the head with such force that it fell to the ground hard, with Zack leaping to safety on a beam.
Bahamut Sin began to get up again, though it appeared to be hurt.
It soon jumped up and flew off once more.
Zack turned, and noticed that his motorcycle was three yards away from him.
He quickly reached into the back of the motorcycle and pulled out a jet board. This device worked just like a hoverboard, but it could ascend into the air.
Zack quickly mounted the jet board, and began to pursue Bahamut Sin.
"Alley-oop!" Barret called.
"Giddyap!" Cid shouted.
"There you go!" Cait Sith yelled.
"Fly!" Vincent said.
"Fly high!" Lucrecia cheered.
"You got this!" Jessie encouraged.
As Zack continued to ascend, Bahamut Sin spotted him.
It opened its mouth, and blue energy appeared inside.
But it didn't fire a laser this time. Instead, it began to inflate a large, spherical flare.
Zack was still speeding towards it, too fast to stop, or even reverse course.
A collision was inevitable.
And then, Zack saw a familiar face.
It was Aerith.
She was concentrating so she could appear to him.
She reached out her hand.
Zack felt her grasp his.
"I believe in you, Zack," she said.
A moment later, he flew harmlessly through the flare.
Zack took his buster sword and ran it across Bahamut Sin.
Moments later, a blue flame engulfed the creature.
Zack jumped off of the monster, landing harmlessly on a girder.
The dying Bahamut Sin began to plummet to the ground, dissipating before it even hit the surface.
