Chapter 5

A complicated story

Nikki's pov

I pulled out of the kiss (sadly) and looked to see who it was. It was… André?!

"What are you doing here, André?!''

"I was walking until I saw you kissing!"

"So what!?'' said Brandon, very annoyed.

"Well, Nikki is mine. Get away...'' said André.

"What are you talking about?! Who did she kiss, who?''

"Stop guys! I am no one's!" I said, panicked.

Then Brandon got closer to Andre and slapped him. I could hear that slap…

"Don't fight!''

Andre grabbed Brandon's hair and pulled it.

"Guys, stop!''

I don't know how to stop this! They are fighting! Wait… they are fighting over me! I should say I don't want any of them so they realise it's worthless! Even though I truly want Brandon…

"I don't want any of you! Stop! It's worthless.''

"Wait what...'' said Andre, looking at me in confusion.

I stormed off and left them there. I immediately messaged Brandon a mysterious message.

'That kiss did mean something...'

He saw it quickly and answered:

'I knew it.'

'But please don't fight over me with Andre. Just leave him be. You know I only like you.'

He left me on seen… What is that supposed to mean?!

Mackenzie's pov

I have to come up with a plan to have Brandon to like me. I don't think he likes Nikki at all. She's just a nerd while I am beautiful, smart AND popular. Everything is great about me, but about Nikki it's the opposite. We will see tomorrow.

The next day.

Nikki's pov

I am not excited for this day of school because I have to see Andre after the fight and make my relationship with Brandon public! I am not scared about the second one, just nervous. I hope Mackenzie isn't planning something terrible again. I got detention because of her and also got grounded for something I didn't do! I will really kill her this time if she does something like that again. I made my backpack, brushed my teeth, got dressed and left. Brianna was in the kitchen, drawing. Their teacher is sick and they get to stay home! So lucky! If one of the teachers is sick we just skip one class!

At school

I entered the school feeling all eyes were on me, but they weren't. I didn't even make it public yet and I already felt like that… I saw Brandon walking in the hallway. He seemed like he was telling something to his friends. They all looked at me and laughed. What are the laughing about?! Are they laughing about me? Did he make the relationship public already? I went to my class and all I could think about was that.

After I finished the class, I went to Brandon and asked him:

"Why were your friends laughing about me?''

"What? They weren't!'' said Brandon, unsure.

Brandon's pov

I can't tell her my friends made fun of her. That would make her feel insecure and sad. I have to lie for good.

"You know I know you too well and I know when you are lying, right? Just for your information, I don't care about what they said or anything else bad they say about me.'' Said Nikki, seriously.

"You don't?"

"Ha! I caught you! You are asking because you lied.''

"I was just trying to protect you… I don't want to hurt you…''

"That's nice of you but please, tell me the truth even if it might hurt me. It's better to know than to not know.''

"Noted! Want to get lunch together?'' I said, trying to change the topic.

"It's the first break and you're already hungry?'' said Nikki, laughing.

"Yes! I didn't eat anything in the morning!''

"Okay then. Let's get you lunch!''

We both ran to the canteen because there were only 10 minutes left of the break. We started laughing because we got so tired after such a short run!

Mackenzie's pov

As I got my gloss from my backpack I saw Nikki and Brandon passing me… HOLDING HANDS?! They were laughing. I ran to ask them what was happening.

"Oh, you didn't know, I thought the whole school knew!'' said Nikki, smiling wide.

"Know what?'' I asked curious.

"I and Nikki are together, Mackenzie.'' Said Brandon.

"What?! Why…''

"What do you mean why?" asked Nikki, suspicious.

"Nothing. Congrats.'' I said.

I can't believe they're together! What does Nikki have and I don't?! I stormed off and they looked at me in confusion. I don't want to see Nikki anymore, but if I do, she will suffer.

Nikki's pov

"Did you see how she stormed off?''

"I did. But we have to understand her too. She was in love with me. Of course she got upset.''

"I guess you're right.''

We got back to class and saw Mackenzie talking to Jessica. They were gossiping about us for sure. I don't care though. They can gossip all they want, they won't win anything.

After school

I and Zoey walked home and she asked me about my relationship with Brandon.

"So, what's between you and Brandon? I heard the rumours so spill the tea!''

"'Basically, he asked me out on a date and we got together that night.''

"I want all the details!''

After I told her the story

"That's something. I think you should try to work things out with Andre.''

"You think so? I think Brandon will get upset.''

"You have to try!"

"I will. But Monday because now it's Friday.''

"Right. Well, this is my stop. See you on Monday!"

"Bye Zoey!''

I continued walking and thinking about what she said. I don't know what to do, really. I will think of a solution until Monday.

When I got home the dinner was already ready.

"What do we have for dinner?''

"Chicken and vegetables.'' Said mum.

"Yum!''

I took a seat at the table but right when I did that Brianna accidentally put her elbow on the plate and it slipped on my clothes!

"What did you do?! Now I have to change!"

"Haha! You look so silly!" said Brianna.

"Mum! Do something!''

"Oh, forgive her sweetie! I am sure she didn't mean it.''

Right that second I looked at Brianna and she laughed in my face. What a brat! I stormed off to my room immediately and changed. I heard my phone from downstairs beeping uncontrollably. Who is it?! I went downstairs to pick it up and saw a bunch of messages from Chloe and Zoey.

"Don't check your phone until you change and eat!'' said mum.

"Ok OK!'' I said, annoyed.

I went upstairs, changed fast and came back to eat even faster.

"You're going to choke if you eat that fast!'' said father.

"I have to see what happened!''

"You won't see what happened any time soon if you don't stop eating that fast.''

"Off!'' "You're so annoying!'' I said, whispering.

"Mum, dad, Nikki said that-"

"Stop, please!'' I said.

After I ate I checked my phone just to see edited photos of me with ugly filters admitting that was me in real life! The whole internet is making fun of me now! I didn't post those! My parents would've killed me! This is cyberbullying… I have to stop the person doing that…

Mackenzie's pov

Nikki will pay. I tell you that for sure.
