Disclaimer: I do not own Trolls, all rights go to Dreamworks and along with any music that may be used will be given the proper ownership to whomever originally sang and wrote the song used. I just want to make a few things clear before we get started. This is an original fanfic but it will be based on the three movies. This is not canon to my last Trolls Fanfic. I am going to make DJ Suki the age of her niece in the series. I will also be making Kieth and Suki different genres but they don't know that yet. Branch will also be born a female in this. This is not a Broppy fic. I always imagined that if Branch was a girl Poppy would be that little sister who would always try to stick by her side and Branch will let her. This is a Branch X Hickory fanfic so if you do not approve of this ship I don't know what to say. Sorry not sorry. I guess. Anyway I will be making some minor changes at the beginning, but as the story goes on it will start to get more and more different. Also before we start this new story. This will also be a heavily Mama Branch fanfic. Hope you enjoy it.

In the beginning there were trolls. Trolls of six different genres with six different strings to represent each type of music; funk, rock, country, techno, pop, and classical, but they did not live in harmony. The Pop Trolls always thought that one should look on the bright side and that their music should reflect that and so when the other tribes' music did not match what they believed was correct they tried to fix it the best way they could. By trying to take the other tribes' strings. The other tribes fought back altogether and barely won against the Pop Trolls due to the sheer size of them. Once the battle was over the five tribes all agreed to go their separate ways so nothing like this would ever happen again.

Defeated, the Pop Trolls made their way to a new home, hoping that the other tribes would not find them and try to do to them what they tried to do. Soon the Pop Trolls found what was now deemed the Troll Tree and they were happy. So happy that they would sing, and dance, and hug so much that they would wear themselves out. Only a single generation had passed since the battle with the other genres and the Pop Trolls had pretty much forgotten it. They had the records in the tree, but like they say the winners tend to tell the story or in this case if there was no one else to contradict their term of event. Sadly the Pop Trolls were about to meet yet another round of bad luck. Unfortunately for them they had failed to notice that living near the Troll Tree were creatures called Bergans.

Bergans could not sing, or dance, or even begin to figure out how to be happy. They were truly miserable creatures. That was until one day they heard this beautiful music coming from these happy little creatures. There were so many of them. One young Bergan thought that maybe they could be happy too just like these little creatures. Then an idea came to this Bergan. An awful horrible idea. She decided to eat one of these trolls. Once she did she felt joy for the first time in her life. She did not feel grey and down. She could not wait to share her discovery with her king. She grabbed one more troll and rushed towards the palace as quickly as her little legs could carry her. When she made it to the king she told him what she discovered and handed him a troll. The King ate this troll and the girl was proven right. He then began to give orders to branch out Bergan Town to surround this Troll Tree and to place a cage over it at once.

The King then turned back to the young girl asking for her name and if there was anything he could do to repay her for this discovery. She looked up at the king. "My name is Chef and all I want is to be able to cook the trolls and help bring happiness to the whole kingdom." She said knowing full well what she was doing. "Very well. You shall cook trolls everyday so we will always be happy." The king said. The little girl realized something the king did not. "Wait. If we eat them every day we will run out and never be happy again." She pointed out to the king who took her words into consideration. "Well what do you expect us to do then?" He asked a little impasantly. "Well what if we have a holiday once a year every Bergan will eat a troll and be happy so that way we will never run out." She said as a matter of fact. The king thought about this and agreed that this would be the best course of action. "That's a brilliant idea. By the way what are those little creatures called?" The king asked curiously. "They are called Trolls, your highness." Chef said with a bow. "Perfect. I hear by declare that once a year every Bergan in Bergan Town will eat one troll and be happy for the whole day. We will call this new holiday. Trollstice." Everyone cheered for the king who was bringing them happiness. Chef stood in the shadows grinning. She knew that when the king had asked her what she wanted in return for her showing them the Troll Tree she couldn't just ask to be Queen. No, she knew that she would have to play the long game if she ever wanted to have the throne and by being Chef she was practically in charge anyway. Because those who have the trolls control the kingdom. Just as she had proven today.

The Pop Trolls who were once many, happy, and free creatures were now scared and now such a small tribe than what they used to be. Half a century had passed and they were an eighth of what they used to be. Peppy was now king of the Pop Trolls and was only ever taught the history his foolish ancestors deemed true. He was also now raising two beautiful girls by himself since he lost his beloved wife Iris. He was also trying to get the tunnels finished so they could escape. It was going to be his youngest Poppy's first trollstice and they had all heard the rumor that Chef had chosen her to be Prince Gristle's very first troll. He could not lose her like he had lost their mother. He could not lose anymore trolls. It was a month till the next Trollstice and they were going to just barely make it.

Two years prior he had taken in one more little girl. A grey little troll who had been friends with his oldest Viva since birth. The little trolling's name was Branch. Two years ago the last of her family was taken and eaten. Branch was just three at the time and was now all alone. She just gave up hope. Viva begged her father to take Branch in and without hesitation he did. Sadly despite Viva's best effort Branch remained grey. With each passing day Trollstice grew closer. Peppy had heard that they were nine days out from finishing the tunnels. Nine days until they were free. Nine days until Trollstice as well. Everyone worked overtime to try and shave just one day off and beat the deadline and with everyone's effort they just barely made it with a few minutes to spare. They placed their diversion and everyone started heading towards the tunnels.

King Peppy could hear that vile woman Chef speak, saying that there was one Bergan who had never tasted happiness before and every prince deserved a princess. Peppy knew that they needed to hurry; they did not have much time left. He placed Poppy in his hair and started to help any troll that was falling behind. Branch and Viva were doing everything in their power to help the King. It seemed that for once luck was on their side, but it wasn't. Branch saw it first and screamed out warning everyone to move, saving a bunch of trolls' lives. A shovel was coming down, breaking the tunnels causing them to collapse. Branch started to run while holding Viva's hand in hers. Viva then turned around to see that some trolls were starting to get stuck in the tunnel's collapse. She pulled her hand out of Branch's and ran towards the trapped trolls to free them.

When Branch felt Viva's hand was no longer in her's she turned to see what Viva was doing. Branch wanted to keep running, but she also didn't want to leave her best friend either. She hesitated for a moment before she decided that she would go try to help Viva with the trapped trolls, but before Branch could take a step towards the older princess a shovel cut off her path leaving a now buricaded wall keeping her from Viva. Branch blamed herself if she had not hesitated she could have saved her. Branch looked down at the ground and was going to start digging when she saw Viva's hug time bracelet. She was going to start digging with all her little body could handle but was then grabbed by King Peppy. He ooked down at the young girl and saw what was in her hands and understood what she was trying to do, but they were running out of time. He had a ball of injured trolls and he knew that if he didn't throw them now they were all going to be stuck too. He added Branch to the pile and threw.

They made it out. Well most of them. King Peppy took one more look at where his oldest had been before turning back and running towards what was left of the Pop Troll Kingdom. When he saw that not everyone made it it broke his heart along with everyone else. There was supposed to be no troll left behind. Oh how he had failed. He failed his people and his daughter. They had lost a third of the tribe. Peppy could feel Poppy moving in his hair unaware of the grief taking place. She was still her happy little self. Peppy knew at that moment he could not give up hope he needed to keep it for Poppy's sake. That's what Viva would have wanted. He led his people away to a place they would call their new home. Safely hidden from the Bergans and other predators. A place they would never leave because it had everything they could ever need. Food, shelter, water, and sweet acoustics. They were safe for now.

Little did they know that with their little more like big escape Chef who was now a grown woman was blamed for this mess. She was banished from Bergan Town and vowed to make things right no matter how long it took. She went towards the woods and promised to herself and every little troll that she would not rest till she found them and was back in the castle. In charge where she belonged. Day after day she searched for years with no luck. Soon twenty years passed, marking today the anniversary of the day those trolls ruined her life and not only did she hold heart in her heart for those little appetizers, but also for the royal family. How could they blame her? It wasn't her fault but she was going to fix this and when she did she would be the Queen of all the Bergans. Just you wait.

Twenty years had gone by and in that time Poppy grew into this beautiful young lady and was reading the tale of their escape to the new trollsing in her class. Poppy was still sort of close with Branch. Branch wasn't really close with anyone, but after what had happened to Viva she kept a close watch over her. Against her better judgement she listened to Peppy when he had asked her to not mention the loss of Viva. Branch was furious at first but then understood why he had asked this. It was better for Poppy not to grief over the loss of a sister she didn't even remeber. How could she? She was barely a year old when they lost Viva. But Branch also knew that if she couldn't save Viva then at least she could be there for Poppy when Viva couldn't. She owed her best friend that much. So despite her better judgement yet again Branch took part in some activities with Poppy when they were growing up and would give Poppy some helpful advice even when she wouldn't listen to her. She hated being around Poppy's friends, the Snack Pack. Escpicialy Creek; the whole tribe would make fun of her for benig the grey party pooper troll, but Creek would always make things worse for her.

After the escape Branch stopped living with Peppy. She didn't feel right being there when Viva wasn't. So she started to make her own home at the rightful age of five. Sky Toronto would often let the young girl sleep in his spare bedroom and made sure she ate. He understood the pain she was going through. At one point he too had been grey. Not for long, but it wasn't something that should be laughed at or made fun of like some of the younger trolls her age did. He also knew that he could not keep her there once she was done building her bunker. He was lucky that she even opened herself up enough to let him help. Not in a creepy way. He had been friends with her mother. He grew up with her. Even loved her at one point. Clearly she did not feel the same. He was not going to let her daughter be completely abandoned. Not again.

After five years Branch finally finished her survival bunker and moved into it. She thanked Sky for all that he did. She would often come by once a week to discuss what supplies she could grab for him when she went to grather up things. He would never admit this but he was very fond of her and grew to see her as a daughter. His biggest regret was that he never adopted her. He truly wished he could have provided Branch with the family she had hoped would come back. When he asked why she wanted to live in her bunker instead of with him her answer broke his heart. She told him that maybe her brothers would find them and once they did they would need a place to stay. Truth was if her brothers ever did come back he did not have enough room for them. So he left Branch to live in the bunker happy that she at least had a little hope. Little did he know the terrible crash that would come when Branch would come to terms that they were never coming back. She was fifteen when she gave up that stupid dream.

Remember when the Troll Tribes went their separate ways. Well with the six main genres there were several sub genres. They did not mix well with other genres either. As terrible as it sounds it was highly frowned upon for trolls to have a trolling that was a mix of two genres. One day a Reggeaton Troll and his forbidden love, a Techno Troll were running through the forest wth their egg in tow trying to get away from one predator or another. When they had fallen in love they had to leave their tribes in order to be with one another. Little did they know just how hard that was going to be. The mother quickly hid their egg when they heard giant footsteps coming thier way.

Out of the brush came a very dishelved Chef. Who for the first time in fifteen years found two trolls, but they didn't look like how she remembered them being. She quickly grabbed both trolls and started asking where the others were. The two were so lost and confused at this mad woman screaming at them. Chef was losing her patients. She decided to eat one of them. To prove she wasn't messing away and the fact that she deserved it. She had been searching tirelessly for fifteen years. She deserves a little happiness. She ate the Reggeaton first and nearly gagged. This could not be right. She was supposed to be happy, but this troll just made her feel a little jumpy like too much caffeine but not happy. She looked angrily at the other troll. "What is the meaning of this? I was supposed to feel happy. Why am I not HAPPY?" She squeezed the Techno Troll tighter. "I don't know. Why would you eat him, you monster?" Truely terrified about what that woman had just done.

Chef realized why she felt off. Why these trolls didn't look like how she remembered. They weren't the same trolls. There were different kinds of trolls? She thought to herself. She examined this troll still in her hand. Maybe this troll would make her happy; it couldn't just be one type of troll that could make her happy. Right? She really hoped she was right and shoved the second troll in her mouth and nearly gagged her out at the taste of fish that came with it. Chef then started to hiccup. NO! She thought. She needed to find the exact same trolls that were in the tree. As she discovered that not just any type of troll will make a Bergan happy and unfortunately some had some side effects when it came to eating them. Chef marched out frustrated. She had finally hoped that she was close to going home after fifteen years. She wasn't. Chef went back to her camp not even noticing the little orphaned egg that was left behind.

The forest did its job to keep the trolls as safe as they can be and it took pity on this forgotten egg. The wind started to pick up just enough for the egg to start rolling towards the troll village that was still a bit away. Luckly for this little egg it rolled and rolled and rolled until it reached the closest home to it. Branch had just turned eighteen three weeks before and was going through her bunker. She was finally a legal adult. No more adults pretending to care about her so she could be left in peace. Or so she thought. Branch heard this scratching coming from her go away mat and went to investigate. Out of all the things she was expecting, an egg was not one of them. She placed her hand over the shell and quickly pulled it back to how cold it was. She quickly pulled off her vest and wrapped the egg up in it. If she didn't warm this egg up she was afraid that it would not survive.

Branch spent several days in her bunker not leaving. No one missed her. Well amost no one. After five weeks of tending to this egg it finally started to hatch. Branch honestly didn't know what her plan was, but she knew she just couldn't abandon this egg. Not like she was. When Branch went to pick up this new little trolling she saw that it was a little girl with bright orange dreads and rose colored skin and a little gem-like thing on her belly button. She had never seen a troll like this before. "Guess we can be different together. What should I name you?" Branch knew that she needed to go to Dr. Moon tomorrow. She knew about the egg Branch was tending for and was ready whenever the egg hatched. Branch also knew that Dr. Moon said that she would have the adoption papers ready once the egg hatched.

Branch looked at her and she could imagine not being the one to raise her. She knew she was young and that it was crazy but she told herself that she would tell Dr. Moon that she would be the one signing the adoption papers. Just like when Cooper had found his way into the village several years back, King Peppy adopted him to be Poppy's little brother. She was going to adopt this little girl and be her mother. Now all she needed was a name. Rosie seemed a bit on the nose, but it didn't feel right and it felt disrespectful to King Peppy to name her Viva. It was then that it hit Branch. She remembered when they were little before the Queen passed Viva said that she had wanted Poppy's name to be Suki, but her parents chose differently. Branch looked down at her newborn daughter. Her little Suki. That was the perfect name.

Branch knew the tribe thought it irresponsible for her to have kids, but not because of her age. It was because she was grey. She also knew that Suki's life would be hard just with her being her mom, but they had each other and that was enough for her. Sky Toranto was surprisingly supportive of her decision and had helped convince Dr. Moon to let her sign the papers for the adoption. Poppy was always accepting and was more than happy to see Branch smile when it came to her daughter. Cooper had almost become a little brother to her too and Poppy was almost like her little sister. No. Poppy was like her little sister. Even if she didn't want Branch there sometimes. Branch promised to Viva that she would always be there for Poppy. Cooper was just a part of that now too. Cooper loved Suki and would often let her ride him. There were very few people she trusted with her daughter so Poppy and Cooper knew how special they were when it came to Branch and Suki's lives. Creek didn't make her life any easier. Often being the one voicing that she shouldn't be allowed to be a parent. That just because she couldn't lay an agg of her own just because no one would ever love her enough for that to happen. Doesn't mean she gets to "kiddnap" a poor egg and hold the trolling hostage just to live out her twisted fantasy of having a family. He mostly said this to her when they were in private to gossip around the village. A few times he almost had his way if it weren't for King Peppy and Sky Toranto stopping them.

Things didn't get any easier within the next two years when Branch was met with another abandoned egg. She also ended up adopting this one too. Suki was more than excited to finally be having a sibling to play with. Since most kids in her class were told not to play with her by their parents. When the egg hatched it was a little odd looking troll with bright cyan hair and a mossy green skin with blue eyes that pointed outward like the opposite of being cross eyed. Branch did not care about how the little trolling looked just as long as it didn't interfer with their health. Branch was just happy to behold her newborn son. She had asked Suki what she thought they should name him. Her first choice was Hotdog. It was shot down. Suki's second choice was Garth. Branch thought about it for a moment before asking Suki if she had any other choices. Suki thought about it for a moment. She wanted her little brother's name to be perfect. It was then that she had the best name ever. "Oh, I know. I know. His name should be Keith." When Branch heard the name she knew that it was perfect. "Hi Baby Keith, say hi to your mama and big sissy." Keith was mostly silent and just smiled at his new family.

Once again Branch was met with push back with her wanting to adopt another baby, but this time Poppy was advocating for her and they won. Keith was a weird child, there was no hiding that and Suki had become very protective of her little brother. Poppy would often keep an eye on the two just to make sure that no one caused them any trouble and try to blame them. Cooper was loving being an Uncle to the two little ones. Peppy was happy to see Branch smiling again no matter how small it was, but was still worried about the girl. She was still grey. If Branch was being honest. She prefered being grey. When she wasn't she wasn't focused and her Gramma ended up paying the price for it. So she thought that if her happiness was the price she had to pay to keep her kids safe then so be it. Also there was one more reason for it. She has been grey since she was three years old. She barely remembers what being truly happy feels like and that scares her. No matter how miserable she felt, at least she knew what it was. It scared her a little bit at the thought of being happy. What if she was happy and ended up getting someone hurt again? No this was for the best.

Another year had passed and Branch was met with one more abandoned egg. This one was a bit more different than Suki and Keith. He had a bit of a longer neck almost like Cooper's and his arms and legs were much shorter than the average troll. He had white curly hair and fusia skin similar to Cooper's. Branch had decided to take this little trolling in as well and name him Gary. By this point no one argued over her adopting Gary. There was one more thing that made Gary different from his siblings. Gary was a mute. He could not sing but that did not stop him from finding his own voice. Gary would often use the guitar to communicate.

Two years had passed since Gary became part of her family and now it was the twenty year troll liberation anniversary and everyone was getting ready to celebrate. Branch could not help but feel that something bad was going to happen today and that feeling kept her on edge all day. She also didn't take Suki, Gary, and Keith to their class with Poppy, but Suki had begged her to let them go. She reluctantly agreed to this. Branch figured she could gather sticks while she waited to pick up her kids. She flinched when she heard the morning song which was louder than ever signalling that class was over. Branch was a little upset at the volume of the noise they were making but also that her kids were partaking in this. They knew better than to be loud. They could lure a Bergan right to them. Yes they were five and two but that's not an excuse for being reckless. When Poppy finished she saw that Suki and Keith were on Cooper's back and they heard a slow clapping coming from underneath a nearby mushroom. Three guesses on who it could be.

So chapter one is done. I was trying to give y'all as much of the background info as possible that y'all would need for the story. Like I said this is a heavily Mama Branch story and I could not be more excited. I won't be typing up all the songs like in my last fanfic. It felt like it would be a little repetitive. So I am just going to do the important songs like True Colors, Can't Stop the Feeling, Just Sing, and Better Place. A few other songs will be sprinkled in there, but just so we don't feel like I am copying the other fanfic too much. I know the first part will probably feel like it, but that rest won't and since I did use I think every troll movie song in that other fanfic I do not feel like I need to do it here. I am debating whether or not to add SOund of Silence let me know. I will probably be typing these chapters out fast. So don't wait too long to let me know. I know I still need to update my DragonFly Fanfic, I am working on four chapters for that all at once so once thay are done I will be posting them all together. I am also no longer going to be posting any chapters that are canon to my other Trolls Fanfic. I had been debating for a while whether or not I was gonna write another Troll Fanfic but here we are. So I hope y'all have enjoyed reading this chapter and my new take on Trolls. I truly hope Y'all will find it as enjoyable if not more so than my last Fanfic. Until the next time. Bye-bye for now.
