Trials and Tribulations: Part II

"Oh, I don't even think I told you about the prehistoric theme park that is being built on Akala Island. No, I don't think I told you about that time I was in a desert and almost died!"

"Well, you've certainly been doing a few bits," Mum said. "I'm just glad you're safe. That Lusamine. I saw her on the news a lot and there was always something about her that rubbed me the wrong way."

"Yeah," I said. "Anyway, I need to get to Akala Island and battle the Trial Captains over there! They said they would be waiting at the Grand Hano Resort to explain things."

"Wow!" Mum said. "Are you staying there?"

"Yeah!" I said.

"He'zz lying, Roto."

"Oh come on!" I said. "Don't ruin the joke."

Location: Big Wave Beach

We went to the beach, and I put on the right equipment. "Surfing time again!" I said.

"Count me out! Roto!" Rotom Dex got into my Bag. "I want no part of it!"

"Well?" I said. "Let's hit the wave dude! Okay, that doesn't sound round coming from me…"

Melemele Island – Akala Island

The big wave started again, and we were off! I skidded along the surface. This time, when a rock came my way, I jumped right over. I then went up the wave and did a twist. I was getting the hang of this! And enjoying every second! (Same couldn't be said for Rotom).

I saw a Wailord shadow appear. "Not today!" I said. I leaned forward and Mantine sped up just before Wailord could knock me off.

We continued doing this until Akala Island came into view.

Location: Akala Beach

I got off and was greeted by Akala's Instructor.

"Nice one dude! I think you're ready to try a new trick!" He got out a smart tablet to show me someone doing a 360֯ turn on it. "It's called the Lanturn 360֯! It'll give you more points!"

"That reminds me," I said. "What can you use your points for? I saw you could teach Pokémon moves, and I'm just curious." I was shown a list on the smart tablet. "I will remember these. Thank you!"

Location: Heahea City

Back on Akala Island after a long time! It felt great seeing the expensive hotel in the distance, and that's where we were heading.

"I hope they aren't tricking me into more Pyukumuku tossing," I said.

The Trial Captains were waiting inside the hotel for me. Lana, Kiawe and Mallow.

"Alola Elliott!" they said.

"Alola!" I replied. "So. What's the plan?"

"You battle us all!" Kiawe said. "But… not here. Since this is your final Trial, we want to make things a touch more nostalgic."

"So we want you to battle us in different places!" said Lana. "I'll meet you at my place in Konikoni City."

"I'll be in the Lush Jungle," Mallow explained.

"As for I?" Kiawe said. "I'll be at the top of Wela Volcano. You may choose which order you want to battle in. Until then, we will see you there." With that, they walked out of the hotel.

"So, where firzzt? Roto?"

"I want to work backwards," I said. "When I was doing my Trials…"

"Technically you're still doing them. Zzt."

"I did it in the order of Lana, Kiawe and Mallow. So, let's face Mallow first!"

Location: Lush Jungle

We walked into the dense foliage once again.

"I really hope thozze Passimian don't turn up to steal our petal. Roto. It wazz hard enough to retrieve Hau'zz Z Cryzztal."

We saw Mallow in front of a boiling pot with soup cooking. He had already filled a bowel to give to me. "Quick bite to eat before our battle!" Mallow said. I took the bowel and scoffed it down; it was yummy!

"Okay!" I said. "That soup has given me energy! Let's get myself a Petal!"

"Go Trevenant!" Mallow shouted. She sent out a tree-like Pokémon with sharp claws.

It's feared as a ghost of the forest. Lumberjacks bring along Fire Types, which Trevenant hates, when they enter the forest.

Phantump -Trade- Trevenant

"And I choose Incineroar!" I replied. "Use Darkest Lariat!" Incineroar span round and hit Trevenant for lots of damage.

"Destiny Bond!" Ghostly energy started surrounding Trevenant.

"Now use Flamethrower!" Incineroar shot fire at Trevenant. This knocked it out, but Incineroar went down to.

"I might go down," Mallow said. "But not easily! Destiny Bond will knock out the opposition that also knocked it out!"

I recalled Incineroar. Already, my main Pokémon with a Type advantage was finished. But I wasn't yet. "Go Lunala!" I shouted.

"Wow!" Mallow said. "So, the rumours were true; you DID catch the Legendary! Still, I'll try and beat it! Go Shiinotic!" Out came a Grass and Fairy Type.

"Lunala, Moongeist Beam!" Lunala shot a beam with the power of the moon at Shiinotic.

"Use Giga Drain!" Shiinotic managed to drain some energy from Lunala.

"Come back with Shadow Ball!" Lunala fired a dark ball at Shiinotic, knocking it out.

"Final Pokémon time! Go Tsareena!" Out came a Pokémon with long legs and green leaves that looked like hair. It also looked very sassy!

Its long, striking legs aren't just for show but to be used to kick with skill. In victory, it shows off by kicking the defeated, laughing boisterously.

Bounsweet -Lv 18- Steenee -Lv up knowing Stomp- Tsareena

I recalled Lunala. "Let's use Mismagius!" I shouted. "Shadow Ball!" Mismagius shot a black ball at Tsareena.

"Let's show you this!" Mallow said as she and Tsareena put out their hands. Z-Energy surrounded them. "Let's use the power of the forest to our advantage! BLOOM DOOM!" Tsareena stomped its foot and a large flower appeared from underneath Mismagius. It then curled up around it and exploded, doing a fair bit to Mismagius.

"You okay?" I asked. "Let's use Shadow Ball again!" Mismagius fired another Shadow Ball, but it missed.

"Now Trop Kick!" Tsareena kicked Mismagius in the face, knocking it out.

"No!" I shouted. "Okay, you did well. Let's finish with Snorlax!" Out came my Normal Type. "Now how's this as a-"

"High Jump Kick!" Tsareena gave Snorlax a large kick in the face. It almost took down Snorlax in one which was very impressive.

"Anyway, try this!" I said as I did the Z-Pose. "Snorlax may be sleepy, but this is what happens when it wakes up!" Snorlax got onto its feet. "PULVERIZING PANCAKE!" Snorlax ran as fast as it could before jumping onto Tsareena with an explosion. It was finished.

"I think the forest liked that!"

Mallow got out a green petal and gave it to me. "Here you go!" she said. "So, who's next?"

"After a Pokémon Center visit," I said. "Kiawe!"

Location: Wela Volcano Park

After some climbing… JK I used Charizard to fly up. (Hey, flying around singular islands I've allowed myself okay? I wasn't climbing up that thing again).

At the summit of the mountain, Kiawe was waiting. "Don't you just feel it?" he said.

"If it's the sweltering heat, then yeah," I said.

"How do you think I feel? Roto. I'm juzzt wirezz and a screen."

"Why not just go out of the Pokédex?" I asked.

"Nope! I am fully committed to thizz!"

"Enough waiting!" said Kiawe. "It's time to show you the power of Wela Volcano, the greatest volcano in the Pokémon world!"

Elliott Vs. Trial Captain Kiawe

"Go Arcanine!" Kiawe shouted, sending out his pure Fire Type.

"I know just the Pokémon to cool you off!" I replied. "Go Snorlax!" Okay so that pun didn't make much sense. Cut me some slack please. Arcanine had Intimidate which lowered Snorlax's Attack upon entry.

"Arcanine, Flare Blitz!" Arcanine set itself ablaze and charged into Snorlax. Snorlax was burned in the process.

"Come back with Crunch!" Snorlax bit down on Arcanine. Its Defense fell but not a ton of damage was dealt because of the burn and attack lowerage.

"Arcanine, use Outrage!" Arcanine got angry then tore into Snorlax.

"Giga Impact!" Snorlax then charged into Arcanine with all its might. It didn't quite finish off Arcanine, and this meant Snorlax had to recharge.

"Outrage again!" Arcanine tore into Snorlax again, this time landing a Critical Hit. "And again!" Another Outrage and Snorlax was finished.

"No!" I said. "Wait, Arcanine!" I saw Arcanine had become confused! "Lunala, come out!" Out came the Legendary Pokémon.

"Well Nebby, you've grown up! But I'll still take you down! Arcanine, Crunch!" However, Arcanine ran into a rock. The impact made it faint. "Oh, thanks Arcanine. Now let's use Talonflame!" Out came a Flying Type; it was a battle in the air! "Talonflame, Flare Blitz!" Talonflame surrounded itself with blue energy and flew into Lunala. Talonflame took a lot of recoil damage in the process.

"Now use Moongeist Beam!" Lunala fired a beam at Talonflame, almost knocking it out. One more Brave Bird would defeat it.

"Talonflame, Steel Wing!" Talonflame's wings turned to metal, and it hit Lunala.

"Shadow Ball!" A dark blob was fired at Talonflame, defeating it.

"Okay, time for my last Pokémon! Go Marowak!" With a Ghost Type being sent out, I decided that Lunala, who is 4x weak to the Type, should be recalled. Even Legendary Pokémon have their weaknesses.

"Go Incineroar!" I replied. Me and Incineroar got ready by both doing the Dark Type Z-Move. "This would be a great move for a Fighting video game! MALICIOUS MOONSAULT!" A wrestling ring appeared around Alolan Marowak, and Incineroar jumped on the side. It then jumped up and landed on Marowak, almost knocking it out.

"Now for me!" Kiawe and Marowak did the Fire Type Z-move pose. "Hot as Wela Volcano! INFERNO OVERDRIVE!" From its bone, Marowak launched a massive pillar of fire that surrounded Incineroar. When the flames died, even the rock was charred. But Incineroar remained standing.

"Now use Darkest Lariat!" Incineroar span round and attacked Marowak, knocking it out.

"The flames have died…"

Kiawe nodded. "Yes. I believe you've earned this." He gave me a red petal. "Now. This petal represents the burning spirit of Wela Volcano. Remember that whenever you pick it up."

"I will," I said. "Final stop, Lana!"

Location: Konikoni City

It was so great being back at the inspired town. I saw Olivia and gave her a wave, then rushed over to Lana's house. She opened the door just before I got there.

"Hey!" she said. "Long time no-"

"It's been a month!" I laughed.

Harper and Sarah ran down. "Lana's boyfriend!"

"I'M NOT HER- nevermind. Come on Lana. Let's take this to the streets."

Me and Lana went to the middle of Konikoni City. Now lots of people could watch us.

"Let's make a splash!" Lana shouted.

"Lanturn, you're up!" First up was an aquatic Pokémon with a light coming of an antenna on its head.

It lives far down in the depths of the ocean. It blinds its prey with light, using the moment they're dazzled to swallow them whole.

Chinchou -Lv 27- Lanturn

"Go Lunala!" I shouted. Upon seeing the Legendary Pokémon, the crowd got very excited. "Use Moongeist Beam!" Lunala fired a beam as powerful as the night sky at Lanturn.

"Lanturn! Use Discharge!" Lanturn fired electricity off in all directions, hitting Lunala in the process.

"Now use Night Daze!" Lunala closed in its wings and took in black energy. It then let it all go at Lanturn.

"Now Lanturn, Hydro Pump!" Lanturn blasted water at Lunala. It got soaked.

"Finish with Shadow Ball!" Lunala fired a black ball at Lanturn, defeating it.

"Oh no! Okay then, go Cloyster!" Next was a Pokémon that comprised of a black face within a sturdy shell.

Excavation of the tombs of ancient hunting tribes has turned up many spears tipped with spikes that had fallen off this Pokémon's shell.

Shellder -Water Stone- Cloyster

"Thanks," I told Lunala. "Okay Hariyama, go!" This Fighting Type could get through its shell. "Fake Out!" Hariyama made Cloyster flinch, but it also did very little damage.

"Use Icicle Crash!" Cloyster made icicles fall from the sky onto Hariyama. It flinched. "And now use Liquidation!" Using its shell, Cloyster slashed at Hariyama.

"Use Close Combat!" I shouted as Hariyama punched Cloyster many times. Didn't quite knock it out though.

"Cloyster, finish with Icicle Crash!" Cloyster made another round of icicles fall onto Hariyama, defeating it.

"Nice one," I said. "Okay Snorlax, you're next!"

"Okay!" Lana said. "Use Toxic Spikes!" Cloyster laid out some purple spikes onto the battlefield just as Snorlax jumped onto Cloyster, knocking it out.

"Wow Snorlax! You're Body Slam is great!"

"That wazzn't Body Slam! Roto! That wazz Heavy Slam! It'zz a Steel Type move that does more damage the greater the differenzze in weight!"

"Great job!" I told Snorlax as Lana recalled her Cloyster.

"Time for my final Pokémon. Go Araquanid!" This was Dewpider's evolved form. It was large, had a bubble head and four big legs.

It delivers headbutts with the water bubble on its head. Small Pokémon get sucked into the bubble, where they drown.

Dewpider -Lv 22- Araquanid

"Go Mismagius!" I replied. We both surrounded ourselves with Z-Energy. "It might not be Super Effective, but its still strong! NEVER ENDING NIGHTMARE!" Mismagius had a bunch of creepy hands surround Araquanid. This caused an explosion that did quite a bit.

"And now for me!" Lana and Araquanid surrounded themselves with Z-Energy. "It's time for some wet wackiness! HYDRO VORTEX!" Water surrounded Mismagius, then Araquanid span round it causing a whirlpool that bashed Mismagius about. It came out soggy.

"Finish with Shadow Ball!" Mismagius fired a black blob at Araquanid, knocking it out.

"Seems like I'm dried up."

"Here!" Lana gave me a Blue Petal.

"One more to go!" I said. "Now, let's go over to Ula'ula Island and battle Sophocles tomorrow!"

"NO! ROTO! NOT DOING ANOTHER SURFING MONTAGE!"

Rotom's Move Dex!

Roto! Snorlax learned Heavy Slam! That'zz quite a strong Steel Type move, so whaddya say? Pedal to the metal, it'zz Steel Type time!

Metal Sound!

Whilzzt a lot, if not mozzt, Steel Type attackzz are Phyzzical, you have Metal Sound to work around that. Zzt zzt. It lowerzz Sp. Defense by two stagezz! Not bad! But what izz bad izz that horrible noizze! Roto!

Pokémon that can learn Metal Sound (that are Sp. Attack focused or equal to it) include Lucario, Magnezone and Type: Null!

I know thizz wazz early but NO MORE SURFING! Roto!
