Finally the day of Thor and Jane's Asgardian wedding came. Loki came into Thor's chambers with his horned helmet under his arm.
"Good morning, brother!" Loki said happily. "Are you ready to wed today?"
"That I am, brother!" Thor replied. "I see you brought the big crown," he added with a chuckle.
"Nothing but the best for you. This is the official crown of ceremonies. I'm not sure I meant this large when I asked them to make it big, but I can't say I mind either."
"A crown to match your powers… and your ego."
Loki laughed. No sense in denying it. "Yes, well. I'll happily wear it today because it means I'm officiating your wedding. And I'm thrilled for that!"
"As am I! This means more to me than you know."
Loki put his helmet down and pulled Thor in for a hug. "I'm glad we're finally here. And I mean that in a lot of ways."
"Yes, I understand. We certainly have made our own paths and ended up where we both needed and wanted to be. Is Asta with Jane?"
"Yes, she insisted on helping despite her limitations."
"Let me ask you something, Loki, and I won't be offended by any answer. But did you have the wedding take place now so Father would see Jane and I wed, with your heavily pregnant wife looking on?"
Loki laughed loudly. "Well, while it wasn't my first, or even second, thought, it definitely crossed my mind. When the Council approved this timeframe, I was pleased to think that yes, Odin would have to watch me – the son he doesn't approve of—officiate the wedding he doesn't approve of, with my wife carrying the heir to the kingdom – a half Jotun heir—whilst needing to look happy. I can't deny that it will bring me joy today. Though not as much as my happiness for you. Jane has been a wonderful addition to your life and I'm grateful for her."
"No more grateful than I am. I wonder what I'd be without her."
"I think it best to not consider where we would be without the strong women by our sides. It's likely an answer we don't want."
"Indeed. You know, you're my Best Man today, despite you being in front instead of beside me."
"I know. I could make a copy of myself to stand there as well."
"Let's not drive Father too crazy!" Thor barked with a laugh.
"Fine, fine," Loki muttered with an exaggerated eye roll.
"Alright. Shall we go get me married again?"
"We shall."
The brothers made their way to the great hall doors. Frigga and Odin were already there.
"My boys!" Frigga exclaimed when she saw them. "Look at how wonderful you both look!"
Both of them bent to kiss a cheek simultaneously, making her grin widely.
Loki smiled. "Mother, you look lovely as well."
Frigga patted Loki's cheek and then Thor's. "Your brides both look stunning. I've seen them already. Are you ready, Thor?"
"Very much so. I cannot wait to see Jane and her beauty!"
Just then, Asta approached them. "And Jane is all set! She's waiting with Erik for you to be in there. She looks amazing!"
Loki held his hands out to her. "As do you, my love! You are glowing today!"
"That's just exhaustion and perspiration. Your son is wearing me out."
"You can sit down as soon as we get in there. Royal proclamation that you must take it easy for the rest of the day."
Asta rolled her eyes but smiled. She tilted her head up and puckered her lips, silently asking for a kiss, which he happily gave her.
"Right then," Odin interrupted. "Loki and Asta, you will enter first. Your mother and I will follow. Thor, you'll then process in, and then Darcy, then Jane with Erik."
Loki nodded and placed his crown on his head. "See you in there," he said to Thor. "Try not to make a fool of yourself."
"Try not to tip over wearing those ridiculous horns," Thor replied.
Loki winked and signaled the doormen to open the Hall. He presented his arm to Asta and they processed in regally. Loki couldn't help but smugly think to himself that Odin had to follow him. Once they were in place on the dais, and Odin and Frigga had taken their seats, Thor entered. He stood at the front and turned to the doors.
Finally, they opened again and Darcy quickly and nervously made her way down the aisle. Then Jane appeared wearing a beautiful red and silver gown. Thor couldn't help but stare.
"Careful, brother," Loki whispered. "You'll catch flies if you don't close your mouth."
Thor snapped to attention then and beamed as his bride got closer to the stairs. Erik helped her up the steps, shook Thor's hand, and then took his seat by the Avengers.
Loki put his hands up.
"Asgardians and visiting friends! We are here to witness the marriage of Thor, prince of Asgard, god of thunder, to Jane, his Midgardian love. I am so pleased to be able to officiate this wedding. My brother and Jane have been in love for a long time and make such a wonderful couple. And today, they make their union official in Asgard."
He lowered his hands and looked to Jane. "Jane Foster Odinson, do you pledge your unending love and fidelity to Thor? Do you vow to honor him and cherish him from now until eternity?"
Jane smiled. "I do, Allfather."
He turned slightly to Thor. "And Thor Odinson, do you pledge your unending love and fidelity to Jane? Do you vow to honor her and cherish her from now until eternity?"
"I do, Allfather."
Loki nodded. "Very well. The rings, please?"
Darcy handed both rings to Loki.
He held the rings out. "Please, put this ring on your beloved's finger and repeat after me: with this ring, I wed my soulmate."
They did and Loki smiled. He raised his hands again. "Now, friends, family, and all citizens of Asgard! I happily announce that these two are wed in sacred matrimony. Thor, Jane, you may seal your union with a kiss."
Thor dipped Jane slightly as they kissed, much to the applause of those in attendance, especially the Avengers.
"I present to you, Thor and Jane, prince and princess of Asgard!" Loki shouted with amusement.
Thor lifted his and Jane's entwined hands triumphantly before leading them back down the aisle. Loki beamed with happiness as he and Asta followed them.
Once they all made their way to the eating area, Asta happily sat down.
"Are you ok, my darling?" Loki asked with worry in his voice.
"I'm fine," she replied. "Just tired and desperately hungry."
"Yes, well, tiny princes can be quite draining and very hungry." He leaned down just a bit to speak to her midsection. "Fredrik, my son, please take it easy on your beautiful mother. Honey rolls are on the way, I promise!"
Asta laughed. "Even our little one enjoys a warm honey roll!"
"Well, I'm certain his mum's genes are strong there!"
"Yes, probably. Now, make a quick announcement so we can all eat!"
Loki chuckled as he stood and called dinner to order. He couldn't help but smile at the delight on his wife's face as she took that first bite of bread.
"Are mother and baby happy?" he asked.
"Blissfully," Asta sighed. "We should have events like this more often."
He decided to stay quiet and not disagree with the hungry, pregnant queen next to him.
When it came time for the first dance, Thor was surprised when Jane pulled him into a waltz hold.
"Jane?" he asked as she nudged him into the steps. He began the dance and was shocked when she followed.
"This is your wedding present from me, Asta, and Loki. They taught me this one," Jane replied.
"Are you serious? Jane, my love, you're doing beautifully! How long have you been up to this?"
"Every time they had a free moment this week, the Warriors would distract you."
"There were an awful lot of hunting trips," Thor said with a laugh. "Thank you, Jane. This is a wonderful gift!"
Thor looked to Loki and Asta. He gave them a quick two-finger salute, and mouthed "Thank you." Loki raised his glass to them and Asta winked.
Before long, Asta decided it was time for bed. Loki announced that they were taking their leave, but the guests were welcome to continue the festivity. Thor cheered and yelled his "good night!" to the couple.
Loki placed his hand on the small of Asta's back and they quickly left the great hall.
"Are you feeling alright, my dove?" he asked with concern.
"I'm fine. Just drained. The little ice cube really enjoyed celebrating with Uncle Thor. So, now it's time to get some rest."
"Yes, I agree. Revelry with Thor can be quite tiring. The two princes together must be exhausting!"
"We'll have our work cut out for us," Asta sighed as they reached their chamber door.
"At least Thor has been good practice for a child."
Asta didn't want to agree, but silently did concur with Loki.
"For now, let's just get straight to bed. That pillow looks so inviting and I very much want to fall asleep in your arms, my king."
"And my queen shall have exactly what she wants!"
They quickly changed into their pajamas and crawled into bed.
"Good night, my beautiful darling," he said, kissing the top of her head. "I love you."
"I love you, too, my mischief. Good night."
