"Welcome back Ash, are you ready for our rematch?" Jasmine asked.
"Yep, and this time I'm not leaving without that badge." Ash said confidently.
"The rules for today's match will be the same as the rules for the previous match between Jasmine and Ash." The gym judge said. "Both trainers will get to use four Pokemon, with only the challenger being able to switch out at any time. The battle will be over when one side is out of Pokemon that are able to battle. Are these rules clear to both trainers."
"Clear." Ash said.
"Clear." Jasmine said. "Now come out Magneton!"
"Houndoom you're up!" Ash called out.
"Magneton use Lock On!"
"Houndoom use Headbutt!"
"What's Ash's plan here?" Molly wondered as Houndoom dove between the three Magnemite that make up Magneton.
"Now use Zap Cannon!"
"Houndoom use Flamethrower!"
While Magneton was busy trying to get reassembled, Houndoom fired off a jet stream of flames, engulfing the triple magnet.
"He blocked Lock On!" Casey said in surprise.
"I trained more than just with you yesterday after all, I knew how to fight like you, but I still needed to be able to outfight you." Ash said with a smirk. "Now Houndoom use Flamethrower!"
"Magneton use Tri Attack!"
Magneton spun around, striking Houndoom with blasts of fire, ice and electricity, before being engulfed in flames once more, knocking the steel type out.
"Magneton is unable to battle, the winner is Houndoom." The gym judge declared.
"Great work Magneton, you got the needed hit." Jasmine said. "Come out Skarmory!"
"Houndoom are you good to keep going for a bit?" Ash asked.
"Doom!" Houndoom barked in affirmation.
"Skarmory use Drill Peck!"
"Houndoom use Flamethrower!"
Houndoom let loose a stream of flames, only for Skarmory to tuck in their wings, spinning through the flames and breaking it apart, striking Houndoom as he was covered in sparks.
"Wait what happened?" Casey asked.
"Tri Attack, when it lands there is a chance that it can inflict one of three statuses, being a burn, paralysis, or partial freezing." Molly said informatively.
"And it looks like Houndoom got the paralysis." Casey said.
"Houndoom use Flamethrower!"
"Skarmory use Steel Wing!"
Skarmory dove down at Houndoom, knocking the dark type off of their feet before he was able to even send out a flame.
"Pika Pi!" Pikachu called out.
"Right, let's switch out! Houndoom return! Pikachu you're up!" Ash called out.
"Pi!" Pikachu said, sparks coming from his cheeks.
"Skarmory use Drill Peck!"
"Pikachu use Thunder Punch!"
Pikachu waited until Skarmory had closed in, slamming his fist on the flying type, sending sparks through Skarmory's wings.
"Skarmory use Hyper Beam!"
"Pikachu use Zap Cannon!"
Pikachu and Skarmory sent out their own beam like attacks, with Pikachu's pushing fiercely against Skarmory's before going long enough for the Hyper Beam to end and the Zap Cannon to surge through Skarmory's body.
"Skarmory use Steel Wing!"
"Pikachu use Quick Attack!"
Pikachu sped across the battlefield, leaping into the air and slamming into Skarmory, using the metallic bird to cushion his fall going back down.
"Skarmory is unable to battle, the winner is Pikachu!" The gym judge declared.
"He's in command this time." Casey said excitedly.
"He has a new strategy and more diverse tactics." Molly pointed out.
"Skarmory come back. Let's go Steelix!" Jasmine called out.
Steelix landed on the ground, shaking the arena and tossing Casey and Molly onto their backs while Ash and Pikachu stood their ground.
"Pikachu come back, this isn't a good match up for you." Ash said, grabbing one of his Pokeballs. "Come out Sudowoodo!"
"He does know that Sudowoodo is a rock type and weak to both steel and ground type attacks, right?" Casey said in confusion.
"Maybe he has a plan we're unaware of." Molly responded.
"Sudowoodo might be strong, but even he can't overcome this. Steelix use Earthquake!" Jasmine called out.
"Sudowoodo use Mimic and counter it!" Ash called out.
Steelix slammed their tail to the ground, sending a shockwave across the arena with Sudowoodo striking the ground with his hand just moments before the shockwave hit him, canceling out Steelix's attack.
"Impressive, using Mimic to recreate Steelix's attack and also cancel it out, but I know that only works with one move at a time. Steelix use Iron Tail!"
"Sudowoodo use Low Kick!"
Sudowoodo ran forward with incredible agility, flipping backwards and striking Steelix's middle with a kick.
"Steelix wrap them up with Strength!"
"Sudowoodo use Slam to knock them away!"
Sudowoodo rushed into Steelix, only to be quickly wrapped up in their attack.
"Sudowoodo return!" Ash recalled his rock type. "Houndoom come back out with a Flamethrower, full power!"
"Steelix use Earthquake!"
Houndoom leapt into the air, dodging the ground type attack, and striking Steelix in the face with a stream of flames.
"Steelix use Iron Tail!"
"Houndoom use Solar Beam!"
Steelix swung their tail around, striking Houndoom enough to send the dark type spinning as he charged up his attack, firing it the moment he landed, sending out a beam of light blasting against Steelix's face plate.
"Houndoom use Flamethrower!"
"Steelix use Rock Slide!"
Houndoom sent out a stream of flames sweeping through the rocks and engulfing the upper portion of Steelix, causing the metal snake to fall to the ground.
"Steelix is unable to battle, the winner is Houndoom." The gym judge declared.
"Steelix return you did wonderful." Jasmine said. "Now com on out Scizor!"
"It's a four on one! Ash has got this!" Casey cheered.
"Sudowoodo, Pikachu come out!" Ash called out.
"Wait what is he doing?" Molly asked.
"Technically speaking if a trainer sends out more than one Pokemon at a time, there are two possible outcomes." Casey said. "The first being that the trainer is automatically disqualified."
"And what's the other?" Molly asked.
"Due to having multiple Pokemon on the field at once and by the gym leader Jasmine's decision, Houndoom, Sudowoodo, and Pikachu are barred from competing in the remainder of the fight." The gym judge ruled.
"HE HAD A CLEAN WIN AND GAVE IT UP?!" Molly shouted in anger.
"Don't worry Molly, I have everything I need right here." Ash said.
"Unless he called for Charizard, I doubt that." Casey groaned.
"Scyther I choose you!" Ash called out.
"Scyther!" Scyther exclaimed showing signs of rage as she clashed her blades against one another.
"Interesting tactic, leaving the fight to just your Scyther, do you honestly think beating us in a race will matter for beating us in combat?" Jasmine commented.
"Don't worry, I have full faith in Scyther to win this. Right guys!" Ash said.
"Doom!"
"Sudo Woodo!"
"Pika Pika!"
"Alright Scyther use Wing Attack!"
"Scizor use Wing Attack!"
The two bugs flew into the air, crossing paths every few moments as they skidded by, striking each other.
"This isn't good, Scyther is weak to Wing Attack and without the boosted defense from the steel type they get when evolving, Scyther won't last much longer." Molly said with concern.
"Scyther use Fury Cutter!"
"Scizor use Metal Claw!"
The two big types landed, clashing their weapons against each other trying to knock the other back.
"Scyther final strike!" Ash called out, his eyes glowing red once more as Scyther rushed forward.
"Scizor use Reversal!"
Scyther rushed forward slicing at Scizor as the evolved Pokemon struck back.
"Wait what happened?" Casey asked trying to see into the forming dust cloud.
As the dust settled two red figures were locked in combat.
"Delayed evolution." Jasmine said in shock, seeing the two Scizor locked in combat.
"Scizor use Steel Wing!" Ash called out.
Ash's Scizor launched Jasmine's Scizor into the air, before knocking it into the ceiling of the arena.
"Jasmine's Scizor is unable to battle the winners are Ash and his Scizor!" The gym judge declared.
"Congratulations on your hard fought victory Ash. As proof of your win I present you with this, the Mineral Badge." Jasmine said, handing Ash his sixth Johto Badge.
"Thank you Jasmine." Ash said, happily accepting the badge.
"If you're looking for another gym your next stop should be Mahogany Town, Pryce might be a bit older but he has a fighting spirit." Jasmine said.
"That's where we were headed next, thanks again." Ash said, proudly pinning the badge to the inside of his jacket.
