Author's note
Just want to make this clear, the reason I had Misty's Poliwag become Poliwrath in this timeline is that Misty originally WANTED for Poliwhirl to become Poliwrath, heck even Poliwhirl was excited by that idea, but she never resented that she got Politoed, so without Ash and his King's Rock Misty and Poliwhirl would have likely eventually found a water stone to evolve them.

"Consola use Bubblebeam!"
Today we find our heroes on their way through the Whirl Islands once more on a small island, taking some time to train for the upcoming matches, while the others are choosing to relax.
"Do they really think it's a good idea to be training together, I mean isn't there a good chance they'll be fighting each other in the next round?" Casey asked, bringing over some wood for Brock to make lunch.
"I think that they're both aware of that, but at the same time, who else can train with water attacks right now." Brock said.
"Fair enough." Casey said. "Hey, have you seen Beedrill lately?"
"Not for a few minutes, but I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, they probably just went to explore a bit, they'll be back soon." Brock said.
"BEE BEE!" A static voice yelled, as Pikachu perked his head up from where he was relaxing with Togetic, Espeon, and Teddiursa.
"What was that?" Misty asked, having heard it as well.
"Not sure but it doesn't sound friendly." Ash said, walking towards the tree line.
"Be careful Ash, we don't know what's out there." Molly reminded.
"BEE BEE!" A yellow Pokemon exclaimed, leaping out of the tree line, and knocking Ash to the ground as he ran towards the others.
"Bayleef stop it with Body Slam!" Casey called out.
Bayleef leapt at the yellow Pokemon, missing and slamming down onto the sand.
"Corsola use Spike Cannon!" Misty called out.
Corsola fired a series of spikes from her spines at the yellow Pokemon, only for it to rush through them and pick up the pink Pokemon before rushing back off into the woods.
"What was that thing?" Molly asked.
"I'm not sure but it hit hard." Ash groaned.
"And it was fast too, I barely got a good look at it." Casey commented.
"We have to go after it, they have Corsola!" Misty said panicked.
"We will, just let me get up for a second." Ash said, wiping off his jeans. "Do you have her Pokeball with you?"
"Right here, but it will never reach with how far she probably is, plus the trees." Misty said.
"Not planning on that." Ash said. "Houndoom come on out!"
Houndoom let out a howl as he landed on the beach, wondering what was going on.
"Houndoom, I need you to track the Pokemon that Pokeball belongs to, can you do it?" Ash asked.
"Doom!" Houndoom said, sniffing the Pokeball in Misty's hand before leading Ash, Misty and Casey into the woods.
"Should we go after them?" Molly asked.
"They'll be fine it's not that big of an island anyways." Brock reminded.
Further into the woods
"Doom!" Houndoom barked, alerting the trainers to a spot devoid of any trees or grass, off to the side was Casey's Beedrill who looked hurt, while in the center Misty's Corsola was stuck fighting that yellow Pokemon.
"What even is that?" Casey asked, pulling out her Pokedex.
"Elekid, the Electric Pokemon, an electric type and the baby of Electabuzz. It loves violent thunder. The space between its horns flickers bluish-white when it is charging energy.' Casey's Pokedex said.
"The baby of Electabuzz!" Casey exclaimed. "Bayleef we've got to catch it!"
"Bay!"
"Casey wait, I don't think!" Ash tried to interject only for Casey and Bayleef to run towards the electric type.
"Heh, you can say that again." Misty teased.
"Shut up, and go and get Brock, he's got the only ground types." Ash said, running towards the crater.
"Hey that's my Corsola out there!" Misty said angrily.
"And all of your Pokemon are either water types or Togetic who is freshly evolved and a flying type." Ash pointed out.
"Bayleef use Vine Whip!"
Bayleef extended his vines, wrapping them around Elekid and lifting the electric type into the air before tossing them higher up and letting them fall down.
"Bayleef use Body Slam!"
Bayleef rushed forward at Elekid, slamming into the electric type backwards, sending them tumbling backwards.
"Bee Bee!" Elekid exclaimed, sending out a Thunderbolt at Bayleef before charging forward once more.
"Bayleef use Razor Leaf!"
Bayleef flipped his leaf back and forth, striking Elekid multiple times as it tumbled backwards.
"Pokeball go!" Casey called out, tossing the ball at the downed Elekid.
The Pokeball began shaking before finally giving a signal of a successful capture.
"Casey that was great, but I wonder why Elekid attacked us like that." Ash said, approaching with Pikachu.
"And why is it that this area is devoid of any plant life, it's too clean to be done manually." Misty said.
'BOOM!'
Ash was thrown back from a bolt of electricity striking right next to him.
"ASH!" Casey and Misty exclaimed, rushing over to him.
"Are you okay?" Misty asked.
"A bit shaken up but I'm not the one to be worried about." Ash said, seeing Pikachu in the smoke, his eyes glowing red as sparks shot from his cheeks.
"I think we know what made Elekid act crazy." Misty said.
"PIKA!" Pikachu shouted, sending a zap cannon at the trio.
"Never been so glad that attack misses half the time." Ash said. "Go and get Brock and Molly, I'll take care of Pikachu."
"Ash, that's insane, what are you going to do?!" Casey asked.
"I'm not sure yet, but he's my Pokemon and I'll handle this like any other problem." Ash said, walking towards his partner.
"Ka-Cha!" Pikachu exclaimed, striking Ash with a Thunder Punch.
"I'm not going to fight you Pikachu, we're best friends and I know this isn't the real you." Ash grunted, holding Pikachu tight in his arms, taking the stray electricity.
"KA!" Pikachu exclaimed, sending out more electricity.
"JUST LET IT OUT PIKACHU! WE'VE GOT THIS TOGETHER!" Ash yelled through the pain.
Electricity shot high into the air up above the islands as an airship passed by.
"Sir, that electricity, it must be from something powerful." A Team Rocket admin said, turning towards Giovanni.
"We'll have to wait for that, we must focus on the Silver agent." Giovanni said. "Redirect the ship for clearance around the electricity."
"Yes sir." The admin said, returning to their post.
Back on the ground
"Haaa, haaaa." Ash breathed heavily as Pikachu had finally calmed down.
"Ash!" Molly said running towards the group with Brock in tow. "Is everything alright?"
"Pikachu, how are you feeling?" Ash asked.
"Pi?" Pikachu said concerned about his trainers sudden injuries.
"It's alright buddy, nothing I can't handle, I'm just glad you're okay." Ash said, limping a bit as he carried Pikachu out of the area before more lightning struck.
"Come on we can check you along with Beedrill and Corsola back at the boat." Brock said, helping Ash back to where they had beached for the day.
