CHAPTER 59
Elemental Mobious (1), Knothole Bunker Infirmary...
TD sat up as the last of his injuries from the transformation healed and his unhealing injuries bandaged.
"Okay, from the data, it looks like your Mobian form can heal from self-inflicted injuries such as that transformation but can't heal from third party injuries. Basically, it seems like you becoming Mobian created an inverse to your doll form's healing." said Frenzy as he read the data off on the computer.
"So, basically, if I can handle the pain...I can heal from the transformation but if I take damage, it's permanent. Unless I use my doll form to transform but both forms make me a big target. Neither is great." said TD as he rolled his shoulder.
"Use it as a last resort."
"Hey, Frenzy, do you have any Plasma Cores in storage? I don't like the fusion cannon that much." asked Tails as he looked over the recently acquired fusion cannon.
"Yeah,-"
"-we got at least one stable Plasma Core out of a couple thousand unstable ones. We use the unstable ones as grenades. We haven't found a use for the stable one."
"-no, sorry, we've only got unstable ones. We actually use them as grenades." replied Frenzy.
"Dang it." muttered Tails as he reverted the cannon back into an arm.
"Well, we have my past self to deal with before we head back." said TD as he slicked his gem rod back into his hair to hide his gem.
"How do we find him?" asked Tails.
"I don't think he's gonna linger in this place. Not after nearly having his power source destroyed by a fusion cannon blast."
"So, where would he go next?"
"Let's check the surface."
The trio exit the infirmary and head to one of the elevators within the massive underground bunker that leads to the surface as repairs are going on throughout the base.
"Sorry about having to absorb one of the generators." said TD to Frenzy.
"It's fine. We can easily replace them." said Frenzy nonchalantly.
The three get in the elevator and it quickly goes to the surface. Once there, the doors open and the three exit out into the Ashen Forest (this world's version ruined remains of the Great Forest) and get their respective weapons ready. Frenzy readies his deflectors and a wrist-mounted blasted as Tails brings out his fusion cannon and TD summons several shuriken. The trio look around and quickly spot several broken off pieces from the Past Tails Doll's monster form. Mainly one of the Power Ring Reactors. The three follow the trail and quickly come upon the slowly reverting past version of TD as parts and segments break off his body.
Despite the injured state, Past Tails Doll notices them almost instantly and spins around to face them, using what little power he has left to bring converted material together to form a heavy arm-mounted cannon and points it at them.
"Leave me alone!" yelled the past version before he collapsed to his knees as the other generator broke away from his back, "You've already done enough..."
The arm-cannon falls apart next and he has to catch himself as he nearly collapses entirely. He also begins to shrink as more and more pieces fall off or just break away. What remains of his gem glows a weak white-orange coloration.
"Why try to kill TD?" asked Tails.
"He's...corrupted you...I can't...detect you anymore..." replied the Past Tails Doll as more parts fall off of him and his body readjusted due to the loss of mass.
"You're talking about the control chip..."
"It kept the three of us connected..."
"It also made us pawns of Robotnik!" snarled TD angrily.
"I...I...don't...I hate being alone..." said the Past Tails Doll as he collapsed to the ground entirely, his body now being only as big as Tails. Most of the electronics that were visible previously have either retracted or fallen off. The past version of TD now looks more like a doll rather than the electronic monster that he had previously been. However, it seems he's unable to fully return to the doll form due to the damage to his gem as he has several metallic bones and joints exposed. Tails looks at TD.
"Did we actually share a type of hive mind?" asked Tails quizzically and the doll turned Mobian shrugged.
"I don't remember. My memories until I got my control chips removed are either gone or foggy as hell." replied TD.
"Well, he's obviously not a threat." said Frenzy as he deactivated his wrist-blaster and had the deflectors retract.
"D...don't...leave me..." said the past Tails Doll weakly as he reached for Tails before collapsing as a fragment of his gem broke away from the damaged area.
Tails looks down at the past version of TD before reaching down and picking him up. The past version being light like the present one.
"You're not seriously taking him with us are you?" asked TD.
"Well, he is you." replied Tails calmly.
"But he's a liability! Unlike me, Snively can still control him!"
"Do I look...like a threat?" asked the past version weakly as one of his ears broke off.
TD groaned in annoyance.
"Fine! We can take him with but we're dropping him off somewhere safe BEFORE we deal with Snively!" said TD impatiently.
Frenzy went to open a portal back to Tails and TD's universe before the four are scattered by a missile exploding behind them. As three of the four get up, they see several Heavy SWAT-Bots and several SWAT-Bots with flamethrowers advancing on them.
"How'd they get a new squad deployed here so fast?!" yelled Frenzy in confusion as he dove into cover.
Tails jumps into cover too as TD grabs his past self and gets both of them into cover. Tails brings out his fusion cannon and shoots the head off one of the flamethrower bots but it quickly reactivates.
"Of course the flamethrower bots have the same feature as the giants!" yelled Tails angrily as he ducked back into cover. At that moment, tank fire hits the SWAT-Bot army and draw their attention away from the four. Tails looks and sees a smaller squad with one of the foxes from earlier leading the group.
"Get out of here! We'll hold them off!" yelled the fox before he got into a fire blast clash against one of the flamethrower bots.
"Do we just leave them?" asked Tails to Frenzy.
"We deal with this shit everyday. They'll be fine!" said Frenzy as he opened the portal back to Tails' world.
TD got up and grabbed his past self but the past version resisted.
"L-let me help them...I'm no good back home..." said the past Tails Doll as he tried to stand.
TD looks at his past self.
"And why should I let you?" snapped TD to his past self as he towered over him due to the different forms between the two.
"I don't want to...be just a tool of war..." replied the past version of the Mobian-ified doll.
TD looks between the portal and the Elemental Mobians fighting the SWAT-Bots of this world and then groans.
"I better not regret this!" grumbled TD before he pulled out the only spare gem he had and quickly replaced the damaged gem his past self had with the spare one.
The past version suddenly goes from looking ready to shut down to being fully charged as it has metal claws erupt from its fabric covered hands and flies at the advancing SWAT-Bots. One of the flamethrower using SWAT-Bots is cleave in half by the past version of TD. TD himself watches a moment before he quickly heads through the portal with the other two.
Machine Mobious (2), Scourge's hidden main base...
A fox with cybernetics works on a computer as they go over all data they've collected so far on the world and their organic eye shows worry as they look over the data. They jump when they hear the base's main doors hiss open and Scourge stumbles in panting heavily.
"Scourge? What's going on?" asked the figure, their voice distorted.
"Blow the base! Get everything that's easy to move and destroy the rest!" said Scourge as he got off the wall he was using to support himself unsteadily.
"W-what? What's going on?"
"We're in deep shit okay?! We need to get out of here before it's too late!"
Scourge begins grabbing what few pieces of equipment within the base that can be moved easily as he activates the portal machine within the room.
"Wait...did you have to use the cloning machine?"
"What does it look like kid?!" snapped Scourge as he angrily turned towards the cyborg who shrinks back at the snap.
"Might be a bit too late to run." came Extra's voice as he sat on his monitor nearby.
"You! You're supposed to be out there causing trouble!" snapped Scourge turning towards the evil extra life of an alternate Sonic.
"See...that's the thing. This world is falling apart and I don't want to be here anymore. SO...I made a deal." said Extra calmly.
"A deal? What kind of deal?"
The lights suddenly go out within the base and light footsteps echo through the room. Scourge's eyes widen as he sees a glowing red claw in the darkness.
"I think that should be obvious." said Mayhem as he calmly walked into view as the emergency lights came on, bathing the room in red lights.
"H-how did you get by security?" asked the cyborg nervously, already unnerved by Mayhem's appearance.
"Is that what those drones were supposed to be?" asked Mayhem as he tapped his chin with the glowing red claw.
"You bastard!" snapped Scourge as he threw a knife at Extra but the knife was caught mid-air by Mayhem and he began to nonchalantly twirl the knife between his claws.
"You know Scourge, that WAS clever to use a cloner. Had me thinking I actually killed you...but I think death is too light for you now..." said Mayhem calmly as he kept twirling the knife.
"Scourge...we need to run..." said the cyborg as quietly as possible as he moved towards the portal.
"No shit..." snarled Scourge as he kept his eyes on Mayhem, trying to hide his own unease.
"Oh...you wanted to escape?" asked Mayhem before he had several black tendrils appear from the darkness near the portal machine and uses them to crush the machine into scrap metal, "Not happening."
Scourge growls angrily before he sees a glint of metal fly by him, cutting him across the cheek. He winces and then glares angrily at Mayhem before he hears a thud behind him and he turns around and sees the cyborg lying on the ground with the knife lodged in their cybernetic eye to the hilt of the blade. Scourge's eyes widen before he quickly goes back to having an angry scowl on his face as he glares at Mayhem.
"You bastard!" snarped Scourge as he quickly curled up and spin-dashed Mayhem, which the fox-dragon dodged easily.
"That hit a nerve? What? You CARED for him?" asked Mayhem as he avoided Scourge's attacks.
Scourge doesn't reply, too angry.
"Oh you DID care for him!" said Mayhem almost laughing before Scourge delivered a mid-air spin-kick to his face after uncurling mid spin-dash causing Mayhem to stagger but he recovers quickly and spins his head to look at Scourge before he has his body follow suit, the sickening sound of bones snapping being heard as he does both actions, "Well, now I'm curious as to WHY you cared about him."
"Shut up and die freak!" snarled Scourge before he curled back up and revved up for another spin-dash. As Scourge zooms in, Mayhem has his hand shift into being made out of adamantium and backhands Scourge into a wall, having his clawed hand shift back to normal after.
"I'll guess I'll find out the hard way." mused Mayhem as he advanced on Scourge, fully extending his claws and dragging them across the floor. The claws being sharp enough to cut through the metal flooring and wiring beneath. Scourge slowly pulls himself out of the wall and collapses to the ground, coughing up blood. He looks up at Mayhem only to get a metal pipe slammed through one of his eyes and he collapses to the ground in pain.
"How does that feel?" asked Mayhem sarcastically as he towered over Scourge.
Scourge twitches on the ground, his nerves on fire from the pipe in the eye. Despite it being lodged in his eye socket, it has somehow been lodged in in such a way that it hits several nerves overloading his pain receptors. Mayhem then grabs Scourge and lifts him off the ground before he cuts open a portal that leads to a twisted hellscape and throws Scourge through it before following through. The world distortions disappear from the base as the emergency lights flickered a moment.
Extra looks around to make sure the area is clear before he walks over to his monitor and begins pushing it outside. Once outside, he attaches the rocket system he was given by Mayhem to the back of the monitor and then he hits the button that traps him back in it but he has a remote for the rocket system. He presses a button and his monitor blasts off into the sky and at a speed that puts it in low orbit within mere seconds.
Meanwhile, back inside the base, the cybernetic fox slowly reaches up and pulls the knife out of his cybernetic eye before sitting up.
"That...that could have gone better..." muttered the cyborg as he grabbed the damaged cybernetic and slowly got up. He looked around slowly and saw the blood from Scourge on the floor several feet away. He stumbled over to the base's main control panel and began working on something as best he could with only one functional eye before the emergency power suddenly went out on him along with all connected systems and he froze at what he saw in the now blackened monitor. His heart thumped in his chest heavily as he slowly reached for the hidden blaster under the keyboard. His eye was locked on what stood behind him, reflected through the black monitor. Once his fingers wrapped around the grip of the blaster, he quickly spun around ready to fire but before he even fully turned around, blood sprayed across the monitor behind him and he grabbed at his throat, dropping the weapon. He looked up as the figure's gem began glowing a bright red along with a glowing red claw.
"Too slow kid." snarled Mayhem as blood dripped off his claws.
"W-w-why?" choked the cyborg as his throat bled.
"I don't need you showing up again later and causing trouble anymore."
"A-anymore? W-what?"
"You won't live long enough for there to be a point in explaining."
Mayhem rears his claws back and...
