Narrowing his eyes as the sense of Slade and his sister – whatever her new name was going to be – that he'd been following was cut off suddenly, Gunnar paused for a moment. It was clear that one of them had sensed him coming, and was obviously attempting to conceal their presence inside the large, red barn that Gunnar had found himself standing in front of.

It was too late by then, of course, since Gunnar already knew where both of them were.

A flash of motion in the corner of his right eye drew Gunnar's attention before he could take another step, and he quickly snatched- some kind of bird of prey out of the air with his right hand.

"I'm not a mouse," he muttered, feeling a detached sort of amusement, as he tossed the raptor lightly back into the air.

Narrowing his eyes still further, Gunnar considered and then discarded the idea of becoming invisible before he tried to make his way into the barn. True, no human in the area would have a chance at spotting him unless they were particularly attentive to their surroundings, but the sense that all Teknomen had of each other would go off like a beacon if he tried that.

It was yet another reason that Gunnar had mostly given up on having any kind of chance to escape from Darkon: there were just too many ways for the Warlord to track him.

(Jake, we have a problem: whoever this guy is, he's too fast for me to drive off. We're gonna need to leave quickly, if we want to keep him from finding out about us.)

Nodding, Jake turned to Cassie. "Is there anything we could morph that would let us extract Mr. Aldershot's blood?"

"Yeah," Cassie said, nodding even as she glanced over her left shoulder, toward the door of the barn where that new Teknoman who seemed to be stalking Shara and Slade might try to come in. "I'll get them ready, but it'll take time. In the meantime, Slade, Shara, you should both morph."

"We probably all should," Marco said, narrowing his eyes as he looked out toward the main entrance of the barn.

"Morph something small, quickly," Jake said, looking around at the rest of his friends and fellow Animorphs, hoping that they'd be able to hide themselves from whatever Teknoman was looking for Slade and Shara.

After he'd finally managed to drive off the hawk who'd been harassing him, Gunnar sighed as he realized that he'd lost the sense of Slade and his sister that he'd been following for such a long time. Rolling his eyes, knowing that the pair of them had likely sensed him and tried to block off their minds, he continued forward. Really, the fact that he'd already tracked them to this place meant that he'd be more likely able to find them inside.

Pushing the large door aside, Gunnar made his way into the barn.

He hadn't known quite what he'd been expecting, inside the interior of the barn he'd sensed Slade and his sister's mental signatures coming from, but seeing all of the injured woodland animals all around him still wasn't something that Gunnar had been honestly prepared for. The animals themselves were all in cages, so that implied that someone was at least caring for them.

Pausing for a moment, Gunnar strangled the sudden thought he'd had about who might have been taking care of these animals, and whether or not they were taking care of Slade and his sister, too.
