Hey guys. Here's Chapter 09 of Shattered World. I actually finished this yesterday by wasn't working on my end. I haven't been able to access it for a couple days now.
But I finally have access, so let's get on with the chapter.
Chapter 09: Yugi vs the Steadfast Duel Style
Pegasus's Castle – High Tower
In the high tower of Pegasus's castle and boy threw down a rope of sheets tied in knots and started climbing down, only to find out that the end was nowhere close to the ground. But before he could rethink his decision, the knots gave up and he fell into the forest.
The door to his cell opened and a man in a suit with a dining cart entered. "Sir, it's meal time." He then noticed the makeshift rope out the window and looked over. "Damn it!"
Pegasus's Castle – Dining Room
Pegasus sipped his wine as he laughed at a cartoon comic book he was reading. "This is great!" Pegasus smiled.
"Pardon me, Pegasus-sama." The same man from before came into the room.
"The world's finest wine and gorgonzola cheese. Add the world's greatest comic and it makes it one of my most peaceful times. I trust you know this, Mr. Croquet."
"Of course, please forgive me." Croquet bowed.
"Well, it's alright. So, what's the problem?" Pegasus asked.
"The boy has escaped from the castle sir." Croquet answered.
"Oh! But I invited him as a special guest and have him the luxurious suite. Oh well, I know what he is planning to do." Pegasus dropped his screen that showed the island.
"The Duel Tournament started 9 hours ago. 12 of the 40 Duelists have been disqualified and are preparing to leave the island." The computer answered.
"Status update on the two targets?" Pegasus questioned.
"Yugi Muto collected 6 Star Chips; Jonouchi Katsuya collected 4 Star Chips."
"Wonderful, they're both halfway there. Though know we should really push them to their limits." Pegasus stood up from his chair.
"Have the company install the next software update on the Duel Monster system. I shall go speak to our other special guest." Pegasus told Croquet.
"Sir." Croquet bowed.
Pegasus Castle – Garden
Pegasus went to his garden where there were multiple flowers in full bloom and he went to the lake where a waterfall was being separated in two.
"Immovable as the mountain, you apply that to your Dueling as well, correct?" Pegasus questioned.
"You seek me out, Pegasus-sama?" A tough voice questioned.
"Yes, it is time that I see what you are capable of. Win this Duel and I will provide you answers." Pegasus said.
"You will provide me all the answers?" The voice questioned.
"The amount you get is based on your performance. Though this opponent will not be easy. But I have a little bonus in mind for you if you can do one other thing. Will you accept this challenge?" Pegasus questioned.
"Yes." The sound a loud iron sandals echoed as Pegasus watched the large back of a Duelist head towards the battlefield.
Duelist Kingdom Tournament – Dirt Road
"Nice job defeating Ryota Kajiki, Yugi. He was giving you a run for your money." Jonouchi said.
"All Duelists have their own dreams and expectations." Anzu pointed out.
"Yeah, they all must have pride like us." Yugi agreed.
"Well, not all of them." Jonouchi thought of his previous opponent, Gen Anokuji. "I doubt that guy will learn his lesson."
"Ah! Help me!" The group stopped and they saw a kid being carried away by a large man with a red head band, white uniform, white sash around his back and iron sandals. "Let me go! Someone, please help me!"
"Hold it!" Honda charged forward with the others behind him, making the tall man look. "Alright!" Honda went to punch the man, but instantly recoiled and held his bruised knuckles. "Argh!"
"Should I escort you off the island too?" The man grabbed Honda by his collar.
"Wait! That's not right!" Jonouchi shouted.
"Make your friend learn to observe then take action. Next time, I won't hesitate to kick him off the island." The man pushed Honda to the others. "This one, however, must leave the island."
"Why?" Anzu questioned.
"It's obvious. He has no Star Chips. Those without Star Chips are disqualified and must leave the island. Those are the rules." The man answered.
"But my Star Chips were stolen!" The boy argued.
"No excuses! I, the man Gongenzaka, will not show pity to someone who is irresponsible." The man, now known as Gongenzaka answered proudly. "For you to lose your Star Chips to a coward, you are not worthy of being a True Duelist. And to I, the man Gongenzaka, is most unforgivable." Gongenzaka took the kid away.
"Damn it…" Honda cursed. "That guy is solid as a rock."
Duelist Kingdom – Pier
"Here!" Gongenzaka threw the kid on to the boat. "Send them off!" Gongenzaka ordered and the men in suits started the boats engine and the boat took the disqualified participants away.
"Hey!" Gongenzaka turned to see the others running towards him. "You didn't even give him a chance to prove his innocence!" Yugi argued.
"It doesn't matter. I cannot bend the rules for someone who is irresponsible." Gongenzaka answered.
"That's not fair!" Anzu complained.
"It's the real world." Gongenzaka said. "Now, if I were you, I would get back to the tournament or I will put you and that guy on a boat off this island for trespassing!" Gongenzaka threatened Anzu and Honda.
"Okay! You made your point! We'll leave." Jonouchi said. "Come on, let's go." The others didn't like it but they left anyway.
"Sir, our men haven't seen the boy anywhere." One of the suits spoke to Gongenzaka.
"He'll show himself and I will take care of it. Just focus on your task." Gongenzaka ordered.
"Sir!" The men saluted.
Duelist Kingdom – Grassland Field
"I can't believe that guy." Honda rubbed his knuckles. "He didn't even give us a chance."
"But he's got a point. If you're responsible with your belongings, then you can't call yourself a True Duelist." Jonouchi said.
"Why are you defending him? He's part of Pegasus's men." Anzu said.
"I'm not defending him, I just…I don't know I just feel like I had to listen to him and you know I don't do that to anyone." Jonouchi said.
"That's true." Yugi said. "And he might be a Duelist as well. Otherwise, he wouldn't have spoken like that."
"Let's just do as he says and focus on the tournament." Jonouchi said.
"I found you, Yugi!" The boy that escaped made his presence known.
"Oh great…" Jonouchi moaned.
"So, you're the Star Chip thief! It's good that I still have one good hand." Honda prepared to fight again.
"He's just a kid!" Anzu argued.
"Wait, you want me? Then let's settle it with a Duel." Yugi said.
"Fine." The boy growled.
The two went to the Duel Ring and took their places. Yami Yugi then took over which made the boy recoil a bit. "How many Star Chips do you want to bet?" The boy raised five fingers. "Very well, I'll bet five of my six Star Chips." Yugi removed his chips while the boy threw five from his pocket.
"So, he is the thief." Jonouchi said.
"Duel!" Yugi shouted.

"I have to take revenge for my brother." The boy could not forgive Yugi for what he did to his brother, Seto Kaiba. "I'm going first! Draw! I summon Man-Eating Plant (ATK: 800, LV: 2) in Attack Position!" The boy summoned a plant.

"My turn! Draw!" Yugi drew his card. "I summon Gaia Origin the Dark Knight (ATK: 1600, LV: 4)!" Yugi summoned Gaia on a red horse. "Battle! Gaia Origin, attack Man-Eating Plant! Origin Spiral Shaver!" Gaia charged and thrust the Man-Eating Plant, destroying it and damaging the boy.

"You cannot defeat me with a deck that you didn't put your heart into. No matter how powerful the card is, without heart, it cannot reach its full potential." Yugi lectured.
"Yugi, I don't believe in your cards have heart theory! Cards aren't meant for heart, but only for power." The boy argued.
"I knew it. You're Seto Kaiba's little brother, Mokuba." Yugi called the boy out.
"Kaiba had a brother?" Jonouchi raised an eyebrow.
"Shut up! My brother has been suffering since he lost to you in a Duel." Mokuba removed is hat and scarf. "Because of you, Kaiba Corporation will be taken over by Pegasus!"
"What?" Yugi questioned.
"Pegasus was the one who spread the word about my brother's loss. Thanks to him, no more investors have been interested in Kaiba Corporation. Pegasus has convinced the Big 5 to sell their shares of Kaiba Corporation to him. But they will only do it if Pegasus defeats you in a Duel and take the key for my brother's dismissal from me." Mokuba explained. "It's your fault that all this happened!" Mokuba started to glow.
"Mokuba, wait!" Yugi called out.
"Shut up! Dimension Summon! Krokodilus (ATK: 1100, LV: 4)!" Mokuba Dimension Summoned this time and went to attack but Gaia destroyed him easily and since Krokodilus was Dimension Summoned, Mokuba took more damage than needed.
Mokuba LP: 7200→6100
"You took more damage because you Dimension Summoned. You're not a Duelist, Mokuba. You can't win." Yugi said.
"Shut up! I have to take my big brother's place to protect Kaiba Corporation!" Mokuba argued.
"Oh, so that's why he stole Star Chips." Anzu realized.
"What do you mean?" Honda asked.
"If Yugi gets disqualified for not having Star Chips, he can't Duel Pegasus, meaning the deal between him and the Big 5 won't go through." Anzu answered.
"That's a big loophole." Jonouchi commented.
"So, that's why." Yugi turned to Mokuba only for him to be gone. "Mokuba!"
"These are mine!" Mokuba stole three of Yugi's Star Chips.
"Stop, Mokuba!" Yugi called out as Mokuba ran.
However, Mokuba didn't get far as he ran into Gongenzaka who stared down at him. "Unforgivable!" Gongenzaka bellowed, scaring Mokuba.
"Him again?" Honda flinched a bit.
"Let me go!" Mokuba screamed as Gongenzaka grabbed him.
"Hey, let him go!" Jonouchi shouted.
"That I cannot do. He must be returned to Pegasus-sama." Gongenzaka declared.
"Wait!" Yugi called out. "You're a Duelist, aren't you? Then let's Duel!"
"You wish to Duel me?" Gongenzaka questioned.
"If I win, then you will let Mokuba go free. But if you win, I'll forfeit all of my Star Chips." Yugi said.
"Very well. I'll accept your challenge." Gongenzaka shouted.
Kaiba Corporation Safe House
Kaiba was at his computer looking at various card designs. "These designs…" He saw them labeled as Ritual, Fusion, Synchro and Xyz. He also had blue prints for a new card battle system called a Duel Disk.
"If I can complete these designs as well as modify the code to include these summon methods into the Duel Disk system, I'll have evolved my game to go beyond Yugi's level." Kaiba then heard a sound and put the devices and blueprints in his case.
"Don't move!"
"Seto Kaiba, you're coming with us!"
Two men in suits came with guns pointed at Kaiba.
"Very well, let's go!" Kaiba kicked his chair at the men, knocking them back. Kaiba grabbed his case and quickly pocketed his deck.
"Stop!" One of them shot at Kaiba. Kaiba used his briefcase to block the bullet and he jumped out of the window.
"What?" The men looked outside to see only the sea.
Duelist Kingdom – Grassland Field
Yugi and Gongenzaka went to their places on the Duel Field. Some men in suits held Mokuba hostage while Jonouchi, Honda and Anzu watched from the side.
"Allow me to say this as a warning." Gongenzaka spoke, getting Yugi's attention. "If you lose to me, you stand no chance against Pegasus-sama."
"Yugi, don't listen to him! Just do what you always do!" Honda shouted.
"That's right!" Anzu agreed.
"Let's begin!" Gongenzaka shouted.
"Right!" Yugi yelled back and the field activated.
"Dimension Duel!" Yugi and Gongenzaka declared.

"The first turn is mine! Draw!" Gongenzaka drew his card. "I set one monster in Defense Position!" Gongenzaka set a monster. "I end my turn."

"I have to end this quickly." Yugi thought. "My turn! Draw!" Yugi drew his card. "I Dimension Summon!" Yugi roared. "Appear! My mightiest servant, Black Magician (ATK: 2500, LV: 7)!" Yugi summoned his ace monster.
"Battle! Black Magician, attack his set monster! Black Magic!" Black Magician unleashed his spell and destroyed Gongenzaka's set monster. "Your monster is defeated!"
"From my hand, I activate Superheavy Samurai Soul Makarugaeshi's Monster Effect! When a monster in Defense Position is destroyed in battle, by sending this card to the Graveyard, I can Special Summon the destroyed monster back to the field in Attack Position! Return! Superheavy Samurai Waka-O2 (ATK: 0, LV: 4)!" Gongenzaka summoned back his destroyed monster.
"He brought back his destroyed monster." Anzu said.
"But it has 0 Attack Points, Yugi should be able to destroy it." Honda pointed out.
"If it's still there on his next turn." Jonouchi said, confusing both of them.
"He's probably planning to use his monster as a cost for an Advance Summon. Just in case, I have this prepared." Yugi grabbed a card from his hand. "I set one card and end my turn!"

"My turn! Draw!" Gongenzaka drew his card. "I summon Superheavy Kagebo-C (ATK: 500, LV: 3)!" Gongenzaka summoned his samurai with a flute. "Kagebo-C's Monster Effect! I can release this card and Special Summon a Superheavy Samurai monster from my hand!" Kagebo-C disappeared as Gongenzaka slammed another card on the field.
"Immovable like the mountains, I shall show you the true form of steadfastness! Appear! Level 8! Superheavy Samurai Big Ben-K (DEF: 3500, LV: 8)!" Gongenzaka summoned a large samurai.
"He summoned another monster in Defense Position?" Honda was confused.
"He could've Dimension Summoned that monster but chose not to." Anzu noticed.
"This is my Duel Style. Steadfast Dueling!" Gongenzaka declared.
"Steadfast…Dueling…" Jonouchi repeated. "Wait, haven't I seen this kind of Dueling before?"
"What is Steadfast Dueling?" Yugi questioned.
"Without moving! That is the principle that I follow! Allow me to show you! I switch Waka-O2 back to Defense Position!" Gongenzaka switched his monster to Defense Position.
Waka-O2 (DEF: 2000)
"Battle! Big Ben-K, attack Black Magician!" Gongenzaka ordered.
"What?" Yugi gasped.
"But that monster is in Defense Position, it can't attack!" Anzu argued.
"Big Ben-K's Monster Effect. It allows Superheavy Samurai monsters to attack while in Defense Position and apply their Defense Points during the damage calculation." Jonouchi answered.
"Huh? Seriously?! How do you know that?" Honda questioned.
Jonouchi blinked a couple times. "Wait, how did I know that?"
"Your friend is correct! Go! Big Ben-K!" Big Ben-K slammed his fist into the ground, sending an attack towards Black Magician.
Kaiba Corporation – Secret Computer Lab
After evading the guards, Kaiba arrived at his secret lab. He pulled a hidden chain in the grass and went underground. Using his retinal scan, he entered and turned on his computer.
"Voice verification. Your name is?" The computer spoke.
"Seto Kaiba." Kaiba answered.
"Verification complete. Seto-sama, it's been a while." The computer answered.
"While I was absent, what has happened?" Kaiba asked.
"A board meeting happened. 50% of the shares that are held by the Big 5 will be transferred to Industrial Illusions run by Pegasus J. Crawford, under a certain condition." The computer answered.
"Condition?" Kaiba questioned.
"Pegasus J. Crawford has organized the Duelist Kingdom tournament. The transfer will only be complete if Muto Yugi is defeated." The computer answered.
"Damn that Pegasus. He wants to take over my company. But Yugi has Exodia, he can't lose with that." Kaiba said.
"According to recent intel, Muto Yugi's Exodia Cards are damaged and not playable anymore." The computer said.
"What?!" Kaiba exclaimed. He couldn't believe that those Exodia cards were gone like that. Now the chances of Pegasus getting his company increased.
"Any other questions?" The computer asked.
"I haven't seen Mokuba. Where is he?" Kaiba asked.
"He was invited as a special guest in the Duelist Kingdom by Pegasus." The computer answered, this worried Kaiba.
"Mokuba has the key to the company's secret files room. Pegasus, I won't forgive you." Kaiba growled.
"What will you do?" The computer asked.
"It's only a matter of time before he tracks my location. It's a battle against time, I'm counting on you!" Kaiba answered.
"Understood."
"First, let's use the network to find the battle places. Target: Duelist Kingdom!"
"Searching…Search complete. Duelist Kingdom has been located and targeted." The computer did the search.
"Which Duel Rings are being used now?" Kaiba questioned.
"Of the 12 Duel Rings on the island 6 of them are currently in use." The computer answered.
"Any one of them using the Black Magician?" Kaiba questioned.
"Searching…confirmed. Black Magician location on Grassland field." The computer showed the Duel Field of both Yugi and Gongenzaka.
"Yugi…and his opponent." Kaiba looked at Gongenzaka. "Who is this Noboru Gongenzaka?"
"Searching…Error. Error." The computer gave an error.
"What?! An error?" Kaiba questioned.
"There is no record of Noboru Gongenzaka anywhere in the system." The computer answered.
"But he's not just a nobody, he's Dueling Yugi right now." Kaiba looked at the field. "What? His monster is in Defense Position but its attacking?!"
"That is his monster's effect." The computer answered.
Yugi vs Gongenzaka
Big Ben-K's Attack struck Black Magician and he was destroyed instantly. "Black Magician…" Yugi sadly said his monster's name.
Yugi LP: 8000→5500
"Next, Waka-O2! Direct Attack!" Waka-02 did a long-range attack as well and struck Yugi hard, making him almost flip over the back rail.
Yugi LP: 5500→3500
"Yugi!" Anzu cried out.
"He lost more than half of his Life Points." Honda sweated.
"You moved hastily thinking that I would be an easy opponent. Unforgivable! I Duel with everything I have! You should do the same!" Gongenzaka bellowed. "I end my turn!"
Gongenzaka LP: 8000, Hand: 3
Yugi LP: 3500, Hand: 4
"My turn! Draw!" Yugi drew his card. "Mirror Force, this can destroy all monsters on the opponent's field when the opponent declares an attack." Yugi looked at the field. "No, I can't use this card because his monsters are in Defense Position, it only destroys monsters in Attack Position!"
"The only way for Yugi to stop his attacks is to destroy Big Ben-K." Jonouchi looked at Big Ben-K. "As long as that monster is on the field, Gongenzaka can use his Superheavy Samurai monsters to attack while in Defense Position."
"Yugi can get through it. I know he will." Anzu showed faith in Yugi.
"I don't have any cards in my hand that will help." Yugi grabbed a different card from his hand. "I activate the Magic Card: Hand Obliteration! Both players must discard their entire hand and draw the same number of cards they've discarded!"
Gongenzaka discarded his three cards and drew three more while Yugi discarded four. "Please, my deck!" Yugi drew his four cards and he smiled. "It's time I break your Steadfast Dueling!" Yugi declared.
"First, I activate the Continuous Magic: Piercing the Darkness!" Yugi played his card. "Then, Reverse Card, Open! Continuous Trap: Eternal Soul! This card has two effects and I'll activate the first effect! I Special Summon Black Magician from the Graveyard! Revive! Black Magician (ATK: 2500, LV: 7)!" Yugi brought back his ace.
"Furthermore, Black Magician is unaffected by your card effects!" Yugi added. "Then, due to the Continuous Magic: Piercing the Darkness's effect, when I Special Summon a Level 5 or higher Normal Monster, I can draw one card!" Yugi drew another card.
"You may destroy Waka-O2 but Big Ben-K has more Defense Points!" Gongenzaka pointed out.
"It doesn't matter how many Defense Points Big Ben-K has; it can't avoid this card! I activate the Magic Card: Thousand Knives! When I have Black Magician on the field, I can destroy one monster on the opponent's field!" Yugi explained.
"Alright, he can destroy Big Ben-K!" Anzu cheered. The thousand knives appeared around Black Magician and he launched them at Big Ben-K.
"From my hand, I activate the effect of Superheavy Samurai Soul Fire Armor! By discarding this card from my hand to the Graveyard, one Superheavy Samurai monster on my field cannot be destroyed by battle or by card effects!" Big Ben-K endured the attacks. "However, it will lose 800 Defense Points."
Big Ben-K (DEF: 3500→2700)
"Damn it, he protected his monster again!" Honda cursed.
"And even though it lost Defense Points, it's still stronger than Black Magician." Jonouchi analyzed.
"Simple tactics like that won't work on me!" Gongenzaka shouted.
"I'm just getting started! I Dimension Summon!" Yugi roared. "Appear! Gaia the Dark Knight (ATK: 2300, LV: 7)!" Yugi summoned Gaia. "Due to Piercing the Darkness's effect, I draw one more card!" Yugi drew another card.
"Next, I activate the Magic Card: Spiral Fusion! This card allows me to Fusion Summon a Dragon Fusion Monster from my Extra Deck using monsters from my hand or field as Fusion Material! I fuse Gaia the Fierce Knight with Curse of Dragon!" The two monsters went into the spiraling vortex. "Warrior that runs along with his giant lances, join together with the cursed dragon and become the mightiest warrior in the sky! Fusion Summon! Appear! Level 7! Gaia the Sky Soaring Dragon Knight (ATK: 2600, LV: 7)!" Gaia reappeared in gold armor while riding a red dragon.
"When Gaia the Sky Soaring Dragon Knight is Special Summoned, I can add the Continuous Magic: Spiral Spear Kill to my hand!" Yugi added another card to his hand. "Furthermore, it is treated as Gaia the Dragon Knight allowing him to gain Spiral Fusion's additional effect! It gains 2600 Attack Points and can make two attacks on monsters during each Battle Phase!"
Gaia (ATK: 2600→5200)
"Alright, it's stronger than Big Ben-K!" Jonouchi smiled.
"Next, I activate the Continuous Magic: Spiral Spear Kill!" Yugi played his other card. "Battle! Gaia the Sky Soaring Dragon Knight, attack Superheavy Samurai Waka-02!" Gaia charged into battle. "Gaia's effect activates! When it battles an opponent's monster, I can change the opponent's Battle Position! You're Waka-02 switches to Attack Position!" Waka-02 switched to Attack Position.
Waka-02 (ATK: 0)
"Your monsters have a lot of Defense Points but their Attack Points are a different story!" Yugi smiled.
"Since Gaia can attack twice thanks to Spiral Fusion…" Honda got excited.
"And it can switch his monsters to Attack Position…" Jonouchi smirked.
"The damage in total will be 9400!" Anzu did the math.
"Yugi will win!" Mokuba cheered.
"Go! Gaia! Double Dragon Soaring Lance!" Gaia went to strike down Waka-O2.
"From my Graveyard, I activate Superheavy Samurai Soul Iron Defense's effect! When I have no Magic or Trap cards in my Graveyard, by banishing this card from my Graveyard, all Superheavy Samurai monsters on my field switch to Defense Position and their position cannot be changed!" A giant shield appeared and forced Waka-O2 back to Defense Position just in time when Gaia struck him down.
Waka-02 (DEF: 2000)
"Waka-02's Monster Effect prevents him from being destroyed in battle!" Gongenzaka shouted.
"The Continuous Magic: Spiral Spear Kill's effect activates! When Gaia attacks a Defense Position monster, it deals piercing damage!" Gongenzaka grunted as he took damage.
Gongenzaka LP: 8000→4800
"Then, I draw two cards and then discard one!" Yugi drew two cards and then discarded one. "Gaia, attack Waka-02 again!" Gaia attacked Waka-02 again. It was beaten up but remained on the field due to its effect.
Gongenzaka LP: 4800→1600
"Due to Spiral Spear Kill's effect, I draw two cards and then discard one." Yugi drew two new cards and discarded one. "I set two cards and end my turn!"
Kaiba Corporation – Secret Computer Lab
"As expected of Yugi, even though he couldn't destroy that guy's monsters, he was still able to inflict damage. And Gaia's Attack Points are more than my Blue-Eyes White Dragon."
"It seems that the loss of Exodia didn't impede his strategy to overcome stronger monsters." The computer spoke.
"But still…" Kaiba leaned back in his chair. "I have an uneasy feeling."
Yugi vs Gongenzaka
"Very impressive." Gongenzaka wiped his brow. "You managed to damage me this much. However, my resolve has not yet waivered. I will still emerge victorious in this Duel!"
"He still thinks he can win against Yugi." Anzu said.
"He must have lost it from that last attack." Honda shook his head.
"No…" Jonouchi said. "I can feel it, his aura…" Jonouchi could see Gongenzaka's aura intensified.
"This pressure…it's more intense than before." Yugi thought. He then noticed his hand shaking. "My hand…"
"Before I begin my turn…" Gongenzaka pressed a button on his panel and a screen appeared in the middle of the field showing Kaiba.
"Kaiba!" Yugi shouted.
"Big Brother!" Mokuba smiled.

"Yugi Muto, Seto Kaiba, Katsuya Jonouchi!" Gongenzaka said their names getting their attention. "Allow me to show you my Steadfast Dueling's evolution! Burn this final turn into your eyes! My turn! Draw!" Gongenzaka drew his card so hard that it created a shockwave that made everyone stumble. Two new card zones opened on the panel on both sides of the field.
"Huh? What are these card zones?" Yugi questioned.
"Using the Scale 1 Superheavy Monk Warrior Big Ben-K and the Scale 8 Superheavy Prodigy Waka-U4, I set the Pendulum Scale!" Gongenzaka set the cards and the word Pendulum was shown across the field. Gongenzaka's two monsters appeared beside him in columns of blue lights with the numbers 1 and 8 below them.
Kaiba Corporation – Secret Computer Lab
"Computer scan those cards! What are they?" Kaiba ordered.
"Scanning…Scan complete. The cards are Pendulum Cards which are required to perform a Pendulum Summon." The computer answered.
"Pendulum Summon?" Kaiba muttered. "How can there be a summon that I don't know about."
"Oh, Kaiba-boy." Pegasus appeared on Kaiba's screen.
Yugi vs Gongenzaka
Pegasus's screen also appeared on the field. "Pegasus!" Yugi growled.
"Now, Gongenzaka-boy, show them your evolution!" Pegasus ordered.
"First, I activate Superheavy Monk Warrior Big Ben-K's Pendulum Effect! If I control a Superheavy Samurai, I can add a Superheavy Samurai Soul monster from my deck to my hand!"
"A Pendulum Effect…" Jonouchi could've sworn he heard that before.
"Swift as the wind, silent as the forest, invade like fire and immovable as the mountain, swinging between the bodies of nature awaken a new power! Pendulum Summon! Appear! My monsters!" A portal opened and two monsters came out. "The Tuner Monster, Superheavy Samurai Kobu-C (ATK: 900, LV: 2)! And Superheavy Samurai Soul Great Wall (ATK: 1200, LV: 3)!" Gongenzaka summoned two monsters at the same time.
"He summoned two monsters at the same time!" Yugi's eyes widened.
"Bravo! Well done, Gongenzaka-boy!" Pegasus clapped.
"Pegasus-sama, this is still the beginning." Gongenzaka smiled. "I'm Tuning my Level 8 Superheavy Samurai Big Ben-K with my Level 2 Superheavy Samurai Kobu-C!" Kobu-C raised its fist before turning into two green rings and Big Ben-K flew through them and became eight stars.
"Raging spirit, in unison with the souls of a thousand blades, appear on the battlefield where raging waves swirl! Synchro Summon! Now, depart for the front! Level 10! Superheavy Koujin Susano-O (DEF: 3800, LV: 10)!" Gongenzaka summoned a larger and more powerful Superheavy Samurai than Big Ben-K.
"Synchro Summon?" Yugi was surprised.
"Another different summon?!" Kaiba shouted.
"That has to be illegal!" Anzu complained.
"Quit cheating!" Honda argued.
"No, no. Those summon methods are acceptable." Pegasus said. "If they weren't, then the Duel System that Kaiba boy created would have picked something up."
Kaiba typed in his computer and his eyes widened. "This coding…it's…brilliant…"
"Big Brother alter the code!" Mokuba shouted.
"He cannot alter the code. If he did that then his Solid Vision system will become corrupt and unrepairable. And that will be a bigger loss for Kaiba Corporation! And can you honestly expect him to destroy the code he created." Pegasus said.
"I…made this code…" Kaiba put his hand to his head. "I…" There were flashes in his mind of him updating the Duel System and creating new summon methods.
"Of course, your name is below." Pegasus showed the code was owned by Kaiba.
"From my Graveyard, I activate Kobu-C's effect! When I have no Magic or Trap Cards in my Graveyard, I can reduce the Level of one Superheavy Samurai Synchro Monster on my field by one and Special Summon this card from my Graveyard! I reduce Susano-O's Level by one! Revive! Kobu-C (DEF: 900, LV: 2)!" Gongenzaka brought back his Tuner.
Susano-O (LV: 10→9)
"Now I'm Tuning my Level 4 Waka-O2 with my Level 2 Kobu-C!" Kobu-C once again turned into two green rings while Waka-02 flew through them.
"Raise your war cry, divine ogre! Show yourself on this battlefield infested by evil! Synchro Summon! Now depart for the front! Level 6! Superheavy God Oni Shutendo-G (DEF: 2500, LV: 6)!" Gongenzaka Synchro Summoned again.
"Another Synchro Monster!" Jonouchi's eyes widened.
"Shutendo-G's Monster Effect! When this card is Synchro Summoned, and I have no Magic or Trap Cards in my Graveyard, I can destroy all Magic and Trap Cards my opponent controls!" Gongenzaka revealed.
"What?!" Yugi gasped. Shutendo-G brought his club down and destroyed all of Yugi's cards in the Magic and Trap Zone. And then, both Gaia and Black Magician were destroyed as well.
"Huh? Why did Gaia and Black Magician get destroyed?" Anzu was confused.
"Eternal Soul's effect. When it's destroyed while activated, all monsters I control are destroyed…" Yugi frustratingly admitted.
"I activate Soul Great Wall's Monster Effect! Once per turn, I can make this monster become an Equip Card to a Superheavy Samurai monster on my field and have it gain 1200 Defense Points! I equip Soul Great Wall to Shutendo-G!" Soul Great Wall attached itself to Shutendo-G, increasing its Defense.
Shutendo-G (DEF: 2500→3700)
"Don't tell me these monsters are like Big Ben-K?!" Yugi's eyes widened.
"That's right, both of them can attack in Defense Position using their Defense Points during damage!" Gongenzaka revealed. "Battle! Shutendo-G! Direct Attack!" Shutendo-G raised his club.
"From my hand, I activate Kuriboh's effect! By sending Kuriboh from my hand to the Graveyard, I can reduce one instance of Battle Damage to 0!" Kuriboh protected Yugi from the club.
"But that's only for one instant." Gongenzaka closed his eyes. "This Duel is over! Superheavy Koujin Susano-O attack Yugi directly! Kusanagi Sword Slash!" Susano-O swung his sword, creating a large arc that struck Yugi so hard that he was blown off of his platform.
Yugi LP: 3500→0
Winner: Noboru Gongenzaka
"No way…" Honda couldn't believe it.
"It's a lie…it has to be…" Anzu teared up.
"Yugi…lost…" Jonouchi closed his eyes.
Kaiba clenched his fist before punching his keyboard.
"I have won this Duel." Gongenzaka closed his eyes. "Take Mokuba back to the castle."
"Sir!" The suits took Mokuba away.
"Let me go! Let me go!" Mokuba cried.
"I…lost…" Yugi thought as he laid on the ground in defeat.
"A penalty for losing." Gongenzaka tossed back one Star Chip. "I'll keep the other two." Gongenzaka turned and walked away.
"Hey! Where did you get those cards?!" Jonouchi ran in front of Gongenzaka. "Those Pendulum and Synchro Monsters?"
"I've obtained these cards from a friend that connects you and me." Gongenzaka told Jonouchi.
"What?" Jonouchi was confused. Gongenzaka walked past Jonouchi before patting his shoulder.
"Yuya Ryuga." Gongenzaka said before leaving with the others and Mokuba.
"Yuya…Ryuga…" Jonouchi repeated.
Kaiba Corporation – Secret Laboratory
Kaiba looked at his blueprints that had the Synchro, Xyz, Fusion and Ritual on them. He then made another blueprint, Pendulum.
"Pegasus…I'll defeat you with this new power." Kaiba immediately went to work on making new cards.
