Bakugo glanced up and down the street, searching for the woman sporting pink space buns. She couldn't have wandered off too far, and there weren't enough people out walking around for her to get lost in a crowd. His best bet was to start towards her apartment and hope that her drunken ass wasn't confused on what direction she needed to go.
He, yet again, got put on babysitting duty. His body reacted before he realized. He was only worried by a fraction- if the woman was as whiny as she was the last time he had seen her drunk, no one would want to listen to her.
He walked down the sidewalk, looking down alley ways and peering at the other side of the street. He passed several stores before he caught a glimpse of the pastel pink hair he was hoping to find.
Kyoko stood with her back to Bakugo and her hands on her hips whole three guys were surrounding her. Bakugo's skin prickled as he stuffed his hands into his pockets, heading towards the group.
"Come on doll, come get drinks with us. We'll treat you nice." The one standing in the middle cooed at the woman.
"No, thank you." She tried to brush them off nicely.
A larger man off to the side grabbed her left arm and squeezed it, "We wasn't asking, cutie pie, we was telling."
"Lemme go!" Kyoko whined, trying to pull herself out of his grip.
Bakugo picked up his pace towards them, moving to the side of her, he wrapped his arm around her waist, and with his free hand he clenched his fist and swung at the man's face. The man loosened his grip on Kyoko and Bakugo pull her closer to him.
"What the fuck bro? Who the fuck do you think you are?" The one in the middle yelled.
"Unless you want me to beat the shit out of you and call the cops, you better start running."
The three tensed up, looking Bakugo up and down. The turned their attention to his free hand that was sparking tiny explosions and took off without a second glance.
"I coudda handled 'em." She was beginning to slur her words
"Oh yeah, and what were you going to do?"
"Root them in place so they can't move?"
"And get in trouble with Safety Commission for using your quirk on civilians while drunk and without proof they were doing anything but being a nuisance?"
She stepped out of his hold and mumbled, "Why you gotta be right?"
She swayed as she made a few steps. Bakugo rubbed his temple before trailing after the stumbling drunk. He tried to wrap his arm around her waist, and she wildly swatted at his arm, missing with each swing. The affects of her drinking were now catching up to her.
"Would you just let me help you. It's no wonder those guys stopped you, you can't even walk straight."
"I walk jus' fine." She tried picking up speed but teetered to the left.
"Oi! Bunhead!" Bakugo growled trying to grab her arm.
She turned around, her face red. She poked her finger into his chest.
"My name is not boon-head," She slurred, "is Kyoko."
"And now its bonehead since I'm trying to help you get home safely so idiots don't try and take advantage of you. Stop fighting me, we already know I can take you."
Her shouldered slumped as a deep sigh escaped her mouth, her finger still pressed into his pectoral. He grasped her hand, pulling it away from his chest and slowly turning her to face the direction of her apartment. He released her hand and placed his hands on her shoulders as he pushed her forwards. They walked in silence, Bakugo guiding the swaying woman so that she wouldn't stumble into objects.
"Why'd you leave anyways, I thought you were having a good time?" He asked once they turned down her street.
"I was uncomfortable."
He helped her up the stairs to her building as she dug in her small black purse for her key, "About them talking about gossip and rumors?"
She tried inserting the apartment key into the door, getting frustrated when it wouldn't open. Bakugo grabbed the key from her, turning to the dial pad and using the pin number Shinso had given him a while back. He pulled the door open and looked at Kyoko, who looked lost in her thoughts.
"Gossip and rumors are just gossip and rumors."
Kyoko looked at the tall man before walking into the building, "Yeah…I know."
He trailed behind her, letting the door close behind him. Kyoko grasped the railing to the staircase as she carefully walked up, trying not to trip on the carpet or miss a stair.
"Then why were you uncomfortable?"
"Just because they are just gossip and rumors doesn't mean they bother me any less." Kyoko huffed as she stopped on the third floor, "I don't know how it doesn't bother you."
"I don't care about others' opinions but my own."
"I've noticed." Kyoko mumbled as she stopped in front of her door.
Her hand dove into her purse again, trying to fish out her keys. Her breathing hitched and she began frantically looking at the floor.
"No! No, no, no, no, where are my keys? Did I leave them at the bar?"
"Calm down, I took them from you."
She pressed her hand into her chest, relieved. Bakugo inserted the key into the keyhole and pulled the door open. Kyoko walked through, flipping the light onto the living room next to the entry way.
"Here, take your keys." Bakugo followed her in, stretching his hands towards her.
She took them and placed them back into her purse and she stumbled out of her shoes. Bakugo slipped out of his shoes as he caught one of Kyoko's arms as she tripped over the shoe she was trying to get out of.
"You need to go to bed." He started to guide her towards the hall, "Which one is your room?"
"…second door."
He stopped at her door and twisted the knob. Kyoko slapped her hand onto the wall, feeling for the light, flicking it on once she found it.
"Get in bed, I'll grab you some water." Bakugo turned around as Kyoko pulled her covers back.
A few seconds later Bakugo came back into the room with a glass of water, setting it down on her nightstand. He noticed a small figure next to her lamp. He looked at the miniature version of himself and then to Kyoko. She looked between the figure and the real-life man.
"Ah-toe bought it for me." She grabbed the glass of water and chugged it.
"I didn't peg you as one of my fan girls." He smirked.
"I'm notta fan girl. At bought it ta pick on me the day I ran into ya at the merk store." She laid in her bed, pulling the covers over herself.
Her head was spinning, her mouth was having trouble keeping up with what she wanted to say, and she was fighting her eyes to stay open.
"And you just happened to keep it?" He raised a brow and crouched down to her level.
"I dun gotta be a fan girl to know you are gud at your job. Plus, you make ug-lee faces." Kyoko mimicked the face.
"Then why do you keep me on your nightstand?"
She groaned, using the nook of her elbow to cover her eyes, "Waddya want me to day? I admire yer 'I dun give a sheet what you think' personality, okay? Why tell you when I'm jus a pain in yer ass."
Kyoko uncovered her eyes and stared blankly at the blond man that hovered over her.
"Like Kirishima said the other night, you're a hero I've been watching for a while now… so, it's nice to see you don't actually hate me."
"Wha… You thought I hated you?"
"Well, you glare at me or get tense and quiet whenever you see me. That's usually universal for not liking someone."
Kyoko's eyes were feeling like 40-pound weights as she struggled to look at Bakugo, "No hate…"
She couldn't talk anymore. Now that she was in bed, she felt so tired. She closed her eyes and just listened. Bakugo breathed in as he stood up. It was several more seconds before she heard him head for her door.
The lights went out and before the click of the door closing came, the sleepy woman heard, "Goodnight, Kyoko."
Her eyes shot open, the only light in the room came from the crack under the door. It felt like butterflies erupted in her stomach and her breath quickened. She honestly didn't think he was capable of using real names, and she only hoped it was her drunken self swooning at how good it sounded when he said it.
*So technically, I started this fanfiction back in Dec 2020, I hadn't looked at the original draft since I had created the second one the next month and began adding to that one. I have three more pages in my second draft before I reach where I just stopped writing. I only stopped writing because my heart had gotten broken and that drastically changed where I originally wanted the fanfiction to go. I'm happily married now, which could be playing a small part as to why I want to write again. Another would be that I am unhappily miles away from my bestie, Atori, who has always been my cheerleader in real life for my writings.
Anyways, I know MHA has had a few seasons out since then but I didn't want to have to change too much to fit close to how the show is going (Honestly, I'm currently trying to catch up to season 7 and not cry to every episode).
Thank you to whoever reads this story; I truly hope you enjoy it.
