(Mario and crew made it to a bridge with an abandoned boat, supposedly where Cortez lives)
BOBBERY:
This is it, guys.
FOUR EYES:
Buh-WHOA!
VIVIAN:
Is that Four-Eyes?
MARIO:
It is, Viv.
(Four Eyes walks in the area)
FOUR EYES:
Whoa, did I surprise you? Yeah, sorry about that… see, I actually followed you in here, but I got lost along the way, and, uh… well, anyway, I followed this path, and I finally caught up with you, and then…
GOOMBELLA:
Oh, please!
FOUR EYES:
Listen, just forget it, okay? I'm sure the Chaos Emerald is inside that pirate ship!
MARIO:
Wha…?
FOUR EYES:
And the pirate king Cortez is in there, too, I'm pretty sure… yeah, probably. No big deal, though, right? You can take him, big guy! We're counting on you! Boy, I know I sure am… and so is Grodus…
MARIO:
Wait, Grodus? Where did I hear that name from?
KNUCKLES (In Mario's head):
My great-grandfather told me you were the only one who can save the Chaos Emeralds from Sir Grodus!
MARIO:
You're working for that Sir Grodus guy!
FOUR EYES:
Just forget it, okay? I was just playing around! Sheesh!
MARIO:
I'm watching you!
(Mario caught up with his party members as they went inside the ship)
CORTEZ:
OoOoOoOooOooOoOoOoOoOo… you ignored my warning… OoOoOoOooOooOoOoOoOoOo… come inside the doooooor… and be lost in darkness…
BOBBERY:
We're getting close. Now, stay right behind me…
(Bobbery slowly opened the door, and when they got in the room, there was nobody there. Mario's gadget beeped really fast and Mario witnessed a purple emerald sitting with the pirate king's loot)
MARIO:
The Chaos Emerald!
CORTEZ:
OoOoOoOooOooOoOoOoOoOo… come intooooooooo my… HACKPTH! HORK! AHEM! OoOoOoOooOooOoOoOoOoOo…
MARIO:
Show yourself, pirate king!
(Cortez's head finally showed up)
CORTEZ:
Enough! I'm starting to get sick of this spooky "OoOoO" business! I'm the pirate king! I shouldn't be moaning, blast it! I am a cold-blooded villain who robs the innocent lives and loot! And you are after my treasure!
MARIO:
I just want that purple diamond, not your entire treasure!
CORTEZ:
Then you're gonna have to fight me for it! Yohohohohohohohoho!
(Cortez's body showed up)
MARIO:
You know what we have to do, right?
(His partners nodded their heads)
MARIO:
Alright! Let's do this! Yaaaaaahhhh!!!
(Mario and Cortez fought with their hammer and sword, respectively. Mario eventually whacked Cortez's sword out of his hands)
CORTEZ:
No!
(Mario whacked Cortez's skull with the hammer, and he supposedly "died")
KOOPS:
That was easy.
(Cortez suddenly came back to life)
KOOPS:
Okay, I spoke too soon.
CORTEZ:
You thought I would give up so easily!?
(Mario growled at Cortez, then he gave the admiral his hammer)
MARIO:
Bobbery, whack those piles of bones with that hammer!
BOBBERY:
Okay.
(Bobbery walked up to the bone pile and whacked it with the hammer which made Cortez open up his rib cage and expose his jewel)
BOBBERY:
Mario, old boy! I think I hit the jackpot!
MARIO:
What?
BOBBERY:
That jewel!
MARIO:
Oh, yes!
(Mario went up to Cortez and legitimately ripped the jewel out which "killed" him)
MARIO:
Whew! I hope that's the last we'll see of him, am I right? Or am I…?
(Cortez revived himself again which consists of only his head and his swords came to life, too)
MARIO:
Oh, this is not good.
CORTEZ:
Yohohohoho! Ye thought I was dead!? Say hello t'me swords!
(Eggy yelped as he hid behind Mario's back)
MARIO:
Hey, swords!
(Mario says as he chuckles nervously)
MARIO:
Uh, a little help here, getting rid of these… swords?
FLURRIE:
Sure, I'll help! I will huff! And I will puff! And I will blow all these swords away!
(Flurrie huffed and puffed, and she blew the swords away)
CORTEZ:
¿¡¿Qué?!?
MARIO:
¡Se acabó, Cortés!
(As Mario tightened his grip on his hammer, Goombella got butterflies in her stomach)
GOOMBELLA:
Oh my gosh, I did not know he totally spoke Spanish!
MARIO:
¡Adiós, Cortés!
(Mario whacked Cortez with his hammer which at least finished him from fighting)
CORTEZ:
Bueno, ¡esto es todo! ¡Adiós, precioso tesoro! ¡Parece que voy a morir ahora mismo!
(Then Cortez died)
EGGY:
What?!?
MARIO:
Looks like he died.
(But Cortez woke up since he didn't really die)
CORTEZ:
¿¡Realmente pensaste que había muerto, amigo mío!? ¡Estás equivocado, porque soy inmortal!
EGGY:
Would you speak English!
GOOMBELLA:
He says "Did you really thought I died, my friend!? You are wrong, for I am immortal!"
CORTEZ:
As you can see, I can't die! I am a spirit of an ancient pirate!
EGGY:
You're more like a skeleton!
CORTEZ:
So! You're just wanting this purple diamond and you're gonna let me keep the rest of my precious treasure?
MARIO:
Yes!
CORTEZ:
Well, we did fight until you had the upper hand. And, I'm starting to grow bored of this purple diamond.
(Cortez grabbed the purple Chaos Emerald with his mouth and dropped it on Mario's hands)
CORTEZ:
Here you go, Mario! It's all yours!
MARIO:
Yes!
(Mario placed his fifth Chaos Emerald in his overalls)
CORTEZ:
Now! If you don't have anything else, be gone! All of you!
FLAVIO (Narrating):
And then, I heard something my ears could not believe… we had actually discovered the legendary treasure of the pirate king, Cortez!
