As they exited the building along with the rest of the hotel's guests, the emergency services slowly started to arrive on scene to put out the fire that was raging on the top floor. Meanwhile, the three of them disappeared amidst the chaos that was unfolding. They all went back to the bar where they had first met earlier that day, with Yuka having remained quiet since they had left the hotel room.

"Well that was unexpected," Giran sighed tiredly before inhaling deeply from his lit cigarette. "How are you holding up, kid?"

Yuka stared blankly at the table sitting in front of her for a moment. She had secretly hoped that the Shie Hassaikai had died out after she had left, but it seemed like they were alive and well and this frightened her. She wondered if Kai was still with them, what would they do if they found her. What would he do if he found out that she was still alive? A million questions swarmed her mind and she just couldn't get herself to focus. After a few more seconds of silence, she finally shook herself out of her stupor and looked up at Giran with a serious look on her face.

"I'm fine," she answered in a flat tone. "Why didn't you take the key to Ryousuke's warehouse?"

"This wasn't really about the money," he answered as he blew another puff of smoke in the air. "In any case, I've robbed the Hassaikai of one of their suppliers. I guess that'll do for now…"

He took a sip of deep amber liquid from his glass.

"I'm sorry I put you in the Yakuza's way, Yuka," he said apologetically. "Had I known that Ryousuke had made a deal with the Shie Hassaikai, I-"

"It's fine, Giran!" Yuka reiterated a bit more forcefully. "There was no way you could have known… Besides, we're even now so we can put this whole story behind us."

He let out a slight chuckle. "I guess we are…"

Meanwhile, Dabi kept wondering if he should say something or confront Giran about what had happened. He had a feeling something bad had happened with Ryousuke and felt relieved to know that the guy lay dead in that burning hotel room. He felt absolutely no remorse for what they had done tonight, except for the fact that now he wished he had been there to accompany her at the club.

"We should get going," Dabi finally declared, standing up to leave.

He waited for Yuka to move before making his way towards the exit, but before that, he turned towards Giran and looked at him with an uncharacteristically serious look on his face.

"You may not owe her anything, Giran, but you certainly owe me… Don't forget."

Giran let out a slight chuckle.

"You know I always honor my debts…"

The walk back to Dabi's apartment was a silent one. Dabi knew that, like him, Yuka didn't appreciate when people pried into her personal business, but he couldn't help but feel responsible for how she was feeling right now. Had he taken the situation more seriously, she wouldn't have had to deal with that creep all on her own and she wouldn't have needed to be in such an uncomfortable situation in the first place.

"Hey…" he said to her once they got to his apartment. "Do you want to talk or…"

Before he had time to speak another word, Yuka suddenly threw herself at him, clinging to him as she pushed him against the wall. Her lips came crashing against his, wanting, needy. Dabi was taken aback by her assault, and while he usually welcomed this kind of attention from her, he could feel that something was wrong and forced her to back away from him just enough so that he could speak.

"Wooow slow down there, sweetheart," he said with a slight laugh. "I don't think it'd be a good idea to-"

"Please, Dabi," she pleaded, interrupting him. "I need you… more than ever. I just… I just need you. Please…"

He couldn't tell what was going on inside her head, but he could tell that she was hurting… a lot, and the last thing she wanted right now was to talk about it and relive whatever it was that had bothered her so much. Dabi knew that feeling all too well. He'd been there more times than he cared to count, so who was he to deny her? With equal passion, he grabbed her by the arms and spun her around, pinning her against the wall as their lips came crashing together once again. Their hands frantically grasped at each other as they scrambled for purchase. They were still standing next to the entrance to Dabi's apartment but Yuka was so desperate for him that she started wildly pulling at Dabi's belt trying to get it to unbuckle. Without leaving her lips, Dabi reached down to help her unbuckle his belt. Yuka then wanked the belt off his pants in one swift motion, casting it aside haphazardly before starting to work on his pants. Before she had time to do anything, though, she felt Dabi's arms wrap around her waist as he lifted her up from the ground, his lips still hungrily devouring hers as he blindly carried her to the bedroom. After bumping into a few pieces of furniture, the two of them landed in Dabi's bed where, finally, the two of them separated just long enough to catch their breaths.

He knew that what he was doing was wrong. He was essentially enabling her and encouraging her not to confront her emotions, but he tried his best to push the guilty feeling away. He didn't want to disappoint her and wanted to make her feel better, to make her feel so much that all of the negative feelings would just melt away. He started devouring her lips once more and Yuka was more than eager to reciprocate. It seemed as though she couldn't get enough of his touch. His lips, his hands… She wanted more, so much more of him. She started tugging at his pants again, trying to get them to open. Dabi gently grabbed her hands and pushed them away, making room for him to unzip his pants. As soon as his pants were unmade, he felt Yuka's hands on him once more, pulling his pants down half-way. He helped her the rest of the way, plopping his pants down on the bed before kicking them away. Yuka did the same with her heels, kicking them off her feet and onto the floor in a few swift motions. She then started running her legs up and down Dabi's thighs, her hands entangling themselves with his raven hair as her lips demanded even more. Dabi wanted so badly for her to feel good but couldn't ignore the growing feeling in his stomach. So, he pulled away from her reluctantly. His eyes looked down to see her gazing up at him with desperation and the feeling in the pit of his stomach grew even further.

"Sweetheart I-" He tried to speak, but the words wouldn't come out. "I-I can't…"

"Please, Dabi…" she begged him. "I need you so bad…"

"It's not right… You shouldn't be doing this in the state that you're in."

"I'm fine, Dabi! I just need-"

"No." His tone was a lot more serious now as he stared straight into her eyes. "We're not doing this. Not tonight…"

He pulled away from her, almost physically repulsed by what he was about to do. Yuka continued to plead with him with her eyes but once he stepped out of the room, she let out a soft sob as she covered her tearful eyes. There was nothing left to numb the pain, nothing to distract her from the feelings that were swelling up inside her. Deep down, she knew what she was doing was not healthy and she couldn't just drown out the pain. She knew she couldn't just use Dabi as an escape to her problems. It wasn't right and it wasn't fair to either of them.

When she lifted her hands from her face, she was surprised to find that she was in a completely different room. The room felt oddly familiar even though, at first, she couldn't make out any of the details. As she continued to look around, it became more and more clear where she had suddenly been transported to. She recognized the tatami mats from the dojo where she had trained during her childhood. She could make out the wooden sword rack standing to one side of the room. She could see the gardens of the compound through the large windows. But as she tried to make out more of her surroundings, she suddenly felt herself being pushed to the ground. A pair of hands suddenly grasped at her throat, choking the air out of her lungs. Someone had climbed on top of her, but she couldn't make out who it was. Their shadowy figure contrasted harshly with the light being cast by the ceiling lamp above them. Yuka tried to use her quirk to subdue her attacker, but they were pressing so hard against her throat that she couldn't manage to take in a single breath.

"H… Help… S-Somebody…"

Darkness started to close in around her as her body slowly went numb from the lack of oxygen. Meanwhile, Dabi had been smoking on the balcony in the living room. He heard Yuka's voice calling out faintly and poked his head in to see what was going on. What he saw shocked him and he immediately ran in to see what the hell was going on.

"Babe?! Are you okay? What's going on!" he asked in a panicked voice.

She was staring straight up at the ceiling, her face red as she was struggling to breathe. Dabi couldn't see what was preventing her from breathing properly. Was it her quirk? And why wasn't she looking at him? Finally, she started clawing at her neck as if fighting against someone squeezing her neck with their hands. This left him even more confused as he tried to pull her hands away from her neck since she was leaving long striations with her fingernails. It was no use, though. She was as stiff as a board and completely unresponsive to him. That's when it hit him: he'd seen this type of thing before, or specifically, he'd gone through something similar himself.

"Sweetheart, listen to me," he said as he leaned down towards her. "You're having a flashback. It's not real. Just… listen to the sound of my voice. Can you hear me? Babe?"

Still no response, and her skin was turning an awful shade of purple with how long she had been holding her breath. It was a wonder she hadn't passed out yet. Dabi was worried she was going to hurt herself more if she didn't snap out of it. He knew he couldn't touch her too much or else the situation could become worse. He didn't know what was going on in her flashback and couldn't tell what would set her off. The only thing he could do for now was try and reach her with his voice.

"Please… You've got to snap out of it!" he pleaded. "YUKA!"

At the sound of her name, Yuka's expression changed slightly and she reached out towards the ceiling with one hand.

"Please… K-Kai…! H-Help… me…! Kai…!"

Tears started to stream down her face as she reached out for some imaginary figure behind him. She kept calling out Kai's name over and over until, finally, she managed to free herself from her attacker and unleashed a devastating gas attack with her quirk. Unfortunately, this also meant that she unleashed a massive cloud of noxious gas inside Dabi's bedroom, knocking him back as he tried to stay clear of the gas. He lifted his shirt over his mouth and nose to protect himself from the gas. With no mask to protect her, the gas entered Yuka's lungs directly, instantly choking her. The intense stinging in her lungs immediately snapped her back to reality as she began to cough violently.

"D… D… Dab… ii…"

She could barely breathe, let alone talk, as she struggled to seize control of her quirk and her cough. Luckily, she managed to breathe just enough oxygen back into the room for Dabi to enter without choking to death. Once he was back in the room, he could see that Yuka was conscious again, but she was really struggling against the effects of her quirk. He then quickly rushed back out the room to get her bag. He dug through her things and wildly started throwing things around him as he searched for her mask. One he laid his hands on it, he pulled it out along with one of the medicated capsules she kept in her bag, then ran back to the bedroom. He positioned the mask over her face, holding it in place while he inserted the capsule into the side of the mask. The capsule let out a slow hissing sound as the medicated gas was released into the mask. Yuka forced herself to take in a few long breaths, immediately feeling the effects wash over her as her breathing slowly evened out and her coughing subsided. Once the crisis was over and the adrenaline started to die down, she was slowly overcome with feelings of guilt and sadness and finally broke down in Dabi's arms. Dabi held her tight against his chest, squeezing her as he rocked her back and forth to try and calm her down.

"Shhhh… It's alright. I've got you," he reassured her in a low, soothing voice.

He continued to rub her shoulders and rock her back and forth to soothe her as she was coming down from her intense emotions. Yuka was lost between what had just happened and what had happened prior to that. Did her previous emotions trigger this sudden attack? Or was it something else? Why did her mind decide to show her that particular memory? Was it even a real one? The experience had left her so disoriented and confused that she didn't know what to think. She had no idea what to say to Dabi and felt absolutely horrible for subjecting him to something so intense.

"I'm… I'm so sorry Dabi!" she managed to blurt out in between sobs.

Dabi continued to squeeze her in his arms. "It's not your fault…" he said to her softly. "You couldn't help it… It's not your fault."

She continued to cry for a few more minutes before settling down and breathing in the medicine from her mask. It helped her to calm down and she felt more secure now that she was wearing the mask on her face. All the while, Dabi kept her in his arms and tried his best to soothe her as best he could. Once she was more calm, he kissed her on the forehead and lowered his eyes towards her to see how she was doing.

"You seem to be breathing a lot better," he said to her. "How are you holding up?"

Yuka didn't know how to respond. She felt like a raw nerve and her mental state was all over the place. So much had happened in the span of a few minutes that she didn't know where to begin.

Dabi sighed at her lack of response. He tried to stay calm and remain patient with her, but so many questions plagued his mind and he wanted answers.

"... Who's Kai?"

He knew asking this was selfish of him, but he just had to know. He just couldn't shake what he felt when she had called someone else's name while she was crying out for help. He couldn't explain why, but somehow it bothered him, more than he was willing to admit. At his question, Yuka stared at him in confusion, not knowing what he was talking about.

"What?"

"You kept calling out the name Kai… Who is he?"

The memories from her flashback seemed hazy and unclear now that she was no longer reliving it. She hadn't even realized she had called out Kai's name. It didn't exactly surprise her, but she was wondering why it seemed to bother him so much.

"Kai is… my ex," she admitted candidly. "We had a long and complicated relationship back when I was still running with the Shie Hassaikai…"

"Oh… I see," Dabi answered simply, feeling guilty for having brought up a potentially difficult subject for her. "I'm sorry I brought it up…"

"It's okay…" Yuka assured him. "I… don't mind sharing this with you."

She inhaled deeply once again, closing her eyes for a moment. Dabi could feel her hands grasping the fabric of his shirt as she slowly started to shake. He gave her another tight squeeze as he rubbed her back reassuringly.

"Hey it's alright…" he assured her. "I'm not mad."

"I-It's just that…" Yuka started to speak, before choking on her sobs. "We used to be close, you know? We grew up together and…"

She was having trouble explaining the situation to Dabi, but it was clear from how emotional she was getting that the two of them shared quite the strong bond back then.

"I'm sorry…" she apologized once again. "I didn't mean to get so emotional."

Dabi let out an exasperated sigh. "You don't have to apologize. I know what it's like to have your demons resurface when you least expect it…"

Even though Dabi was being supportive and reassuring with her, his words didn't seem to put her mind at ease. It was clear to Dabi that she felt guilty about what had happened and that she was frustrated with herself.

"Look," he started to speak calmly. "I know you think acting tough all the time makes you a strong person, but you're putting so much pressure on yourself that it's pulling you apart from the inside." He started to run his fingers through her hair. "I don't know who put the idea in your mind that having emotions somehow made you weak, but it's just not true."

He leaned down to kiss her on the forehead, squeezing her tight as he breathed in a deep sigh.

"I don't want you to end up consumed by your demons…"

Yuka listened to his words carefully, repeating them in her mind as she tried to comprehend what she was doing wrong. To her, the idea of letting one's emotions show was almost inconceivable to her. She had been drilled since childhood that emotions were bad and that showing them was an even greater offense. When her father had died, she vowed never to feel such excruciating pain ever again, even if it meant she'd never feel anything ever again. But her mind couldn't even grant her the peace of nothingness. Instead, it was as if all of the pain she had repressed in her life was slowly coming up to the surface and Yuka was completely powerless to stop it. It was as if for a time, the tide of emotions had been swallowed up by the sea and now before her stood a tsunami just waiting to come crashing down on her. But was it already too late? Was the incoming wave too great for her to withstand? How could she possibly hope to withstand such painful memories flowing back into her mind?

Surprisingly, Yuka found solace in one thing: Despite how things had started out between the two of them, Dabi had been there for her through the toughest of times since she had joined up with the League of Villains. Who would have thought that the person she had initially hated the most would be the one to comfort her through dark times. The question of what had become of their relationship still frightened her, but at least she could take comfort in the fact that she wasn't alone anymore…
