Chapter 2: Perilous Pastures
On the way to the ruins, Hugo explained that the for as long as anyone can remember skylands had been protected by the portal masters and that Eon was the greatest among them. But then came the day when the core of light was destroyed, the core had enriched the world's magic holding at bay the darkness. At the time Eon was the last portal master growing weaker with age, he knew it was only a matter of time before the darkness and its master would return. When Lisa asked for info about the darkness's master, Hugo told her that his name was Kaos. Kaos was an evil portal master and the self-proclaimed emperor of skylands. When Kaos attacked the core, he used a secret weapon and destroyed the core, which was when skylands lost its greatest protectors and Eon, he survived, but was changed he became a spirit.
Just then, Flynn brought the balloon down as the door opened. Hugo walked out. "Thank the portals we made it out in one piece," he said, "So as you can see with our core of light destroyed, skylands is in great danger. I'm sure that tornado was no accident. This is clearly the work of Kaos," said Hugo. "But, how do we stop him, in case who haven't noticed Hugo, we have never done anything like this before," said Chris. "Don't worry, Chris, I can teach you how to control your magic," assured Hugo, "If you're taking down Kaos, count me in," said Flynn. "Glad to hear Flynn, Cali agreed to help too," said Hugo. "Who's Cali," asked Max curiously. "She's a friend who wants to help," said Hugo. "When we're done with our lessons, go with Flynn to perilous pastures," said Hugo.
One training montage later.
As the group crammed into the balloon, they made their way to perilous pastures. Soon, they arrived and noticed a bunch of sheep. "Wow, look at all the sheep guys," said Jessie in amazement. "I take see sheep before," asked Lisa, Jessie simply said, "I've lived a very sheltered life," Just as Lisa was about to speak, the balloon had touched down on the ground. "I'll try and see if I can see where Cali is from the sky while you guys try to look for her on the ground," said Flynn as he flew away. "Okay, guys, let's get looking for Cali," said Erika. "Hey guys, look," said Riley. It was an elemental gate, a gear symbol on it. As Riley approached it, the gate opened for him, and a path appeared. "That elemental gate must have been for a tech element master," said Mason. As the kids searched the area, they soon found it a soul gem with a leaf symbol on it. "This one's all you, Erika," said Heidi. As Erika touched the soul gem, she felt a surge of power, "Stump Smash," she said as a humanoid tree with hammers for hands came out of portal of vines. As they continued to look for Cali they saw some nasty looking creatures, "Uh oh, looks like a welcoming committee," said Riley. Just then the creatures picked up some spears and charged at the kids, that was Mason summoned Chop Chop.
When the drow forces were dealt with the group continued onward. That was when they saw someone behind a chained gate, "That must be Cali," said Max. "We have to save her," said Lisa, they noticed a turret in the center of the area. "Maybe, we can use that turret," said Riley. Just as they stepped in the area they were surrounded by drow forces. As they defeated the drow Riley jumped into the turret and started to shoot the chains off.
"Wait, you're portal masters aren't you," asked Cali. "Yes, we are," said Lisa proudly. Just then Flynn appeared and lowered the door to his balloon as everyone crammed in. They flew away while Lisa was wondering about her family.
