His steps were heard under the icy silence of Hyrule's night. They made the grass squeak as it approached her. She looked at the stars, silent. Link could see in her eyes a form of nostalgia. Was it good or bad? He didn't knew. But her gentle facial features reflected loneliness and sadness. He soon came to sit beside her. The princess, or rather, the new queen of Hyrule, looked at him nicely. Link looked back at her.

"The sky is especially beautiful tonight..." she said.

Link merely nodded before looking at the sky to confirm her claims. Indeed, the sparkling stars in the sky made it even more charming than it was. They shone with a thousand lights, under a tender wind of sorrow which made the knight shiver. His eyes rested a second time on Zelda. Unsure of himself, he began :

"You seem pensive" he murmured.

Zelda smiled sadly and put back a lock of hair, which she had cut a few weeks earlier, behind her ear.

"It shows so much...?"

Link smiled at her again. Zelda sighed heavily. Pensive, yes, she was. And no beautiful thoughts that would benefit her. On the contrary. She was thinking about the death of her dear friends and her poor father. She thought of the calamity Ganon killing them in their Divine Beasts and the king who had valiantly fought for his people. She reflected on the wonderful time she had spent with them, and the pitiful time when she had not been able to save them, for her power had not awakened. Then she thought of Link. Link who had almost left his life in her weak arms. Zelda saw his empty eyes almost black when his soul left him. She had not realized that she had begun to shake. Link approached her and gently placed his hand on hers, awakening Zelda from her torpor. She crossed his eyes, eventually anchoring it in his.

"You did nothing wrong, Zelda." said Link, in a reassuring voice.

"if I had awakened my power before...none of this would have happened..."

"Do you not remember all the efforts you made to obtain it? Of your body frozen in the water of the springs? Your many fevers and faintings? Your long hours of hard prayer? All this reflects nothing to your eyes?"

She looked away, nervously biting her lower lip.

"I have seen these efforts, Zelda. And I have never ceased to be proud of you. Despite the distance that was imposed on us as a knight and princess, I never stopped loving you and being amazed by the prowess you were able to do. You can't blame yourself for it absence, because you did everything to get it. And then, in the end, you saved me from that guardians."

"You were dead, Link!" she cried, her voice breaking under the tears running down her cheeks.

Link looked at her sadly, then put his hand on her cheek.

"No, I am here."

"B-but... you..."

The horrible image of the knight's lifeless body in her arms made her tremble more. Her breathing accelerated, making her face tense. Her heart was beating against her chest. She was in terrible pain. But something saved her. An embrace. His embrace. Zelda felt Link's arms surrounding her warmly. Her sorrows vanished one by one. As if they had never existed. She squeezed the back of his top and tucked her head into his neck, bewitched by its pleasant smell.

"I'm here, Zelda... I'm here because you saved me. If you hadn't discovered the shrine of resurrection, I would never have been able to live this new life. You awakened me."

Her shoulders sprang irregularly to the rhythm of her heavy crying. Link had not let go of her. On the contrary, he was just tightening her up. The deaths of their loved ones had been very hard for both of them. But in the end, they had managed to seal the plague together. Zelda was calming down. Yes, Link was there for her. She felt his body against hers, his heart beating calmly against her chest, his hands stroking her back. Link was alive, so why was she torturing herself to reframe the past? Zelda stepped back slightly so she could look at Link in the eye.

He was beautiful.

His blue eyes shone out in the moonlight. His long hair twirled in the wind. His looks were soft, tender, warm. Link came to take the face of his beloved in his hands and wiped her tears with his thumbs. She smiled at him and he soon replied with a smile. They both ended up looking at the stars, reminding them of those beautiful moments spent in Hyrule, holding each other's arms warmly. Zelda whispered:

"A shooting star..."

The wonderful sky of Hyrule made her understand that she was only at the beginning of her adventure. The whole country had to be rebuilt, and with the help of her people and Link, anything was possible. She could not let the past rot her while such a beautiful landscape was waiting to be redone.

She promised to honor the stars of Hyrule and offer them the most beautiful fields to illuminate.
