Chapter 3
"So, what do you think of the new girl, Artemis?" Stiles asked Scott as they were driving in Stiles's jeep to the McCall house. The pack was meeting there to discuss a plan in case another supernatural threat came up.
"I don't know. She seems nice enough, but with a name like Artemis there's got to be something up."
"Can't you tell if someone else is a werewolf?"
"Yeah, but I don't pay attention the whole time."
"We should invite her over and you can find out for sure."
"But she's a sophomore, we're seniors."
"Yeah, but Liam's a sophomore, and Mason. There's nothing wrong with some seniors hanging out with a handful of tenth graders."
"I guess."
"Besides, I'm sure Liam would be all for it. He barely knows her and he's already head over heels."
"But we could be inviting a hunter to get close to us, or another supernatural danger."
"Or we could just be inviting the new girl to hang out just to be nice."
"Alright."
There was a knock at the door of the McCall home.
"No way," Malia growled, "we can't let her in here. Scott, this is like our den. We don't let hunters or other wolves in our den."
"Oh, come on, Malia," Lydia argued, "She's just a tenth grade girl. She might not even be a hunter. What could she possibly do?"
"You were all in tenth grade, you were fighting the supernatural and could've killed someone when you were 15," she pointed an aggressive finger at Liam, "He's in tenth grade."
"Woah," he raised his hands in defense, "what do I have to do with it?"
Scott stood up and stepped between them, "Guys, stop. We're only going to invite her for an hour or two so I can make sure she isn't a hunter or a werewolf."
Malia nodded but her eyes still glinted with a dangerous look. Scott opened the door but there was no one there. Stiles, who was standing next to him said, "Don't the kids these days know you have to use the doorbell to ding-dong-ditch?"
Artemis knocked on Scott's door. When no one answered, she used her werewolf hearing to listen and find out what was going on.
That's when she heard Scott's pack arguing amongst themselves, 'You were all in tenth grade, you were fighting the supernatural and could've killed someone when you were 15. He's fifteen.' That sounded like Malia. Artemis wasn't surprised, when she'd met her she thought Malia was that kind of person.
'Woah, what do I have to do with it?' Liam.
Then Scott spoke up, 'Guys, stop. We're only going to invite her over for an hour or two so I can make sure she isn't a hunter or a werewolf.'
Artemis turned and ran away from Scott's home as quickly as she could.
They had suspicions about her, just because of her name! Why would that have anything to do with it? Ugh, she should have just stopped at saying 'goddess of the moon.' Of course saying she was named after the goddess of the hunt would be suspicious. She scolded herself. Now she'd have to rush her plan, and make some changes to fit the new situation.
She kept running until she reached the abandoned house she now shared with Matthew and Marcus, who were also werewolves. The three of them had been in a pack together in her old town. Their pack was made up of multiple families. Artemis's mom was the Alpha. One day, there was a revolution within the pack. One of the werewolves killed Artemis's mother and father and became Alpha. They had tried to kill Artemis too but she ran away. Matthew and Marcus were brothers and orphans. Artemis's mother had adopted them and took them into the pack. They were like actual brothers to her. So, when she ran away they came with. She knew there was a True Alpha in Beacon Hills, and it was a supernatural beacon, so she came here to wait for her previous pack to track her down. Only this time, they'd have to deal with True Alpha Scott McCall and she had a plan to make sure Scott would keep her safe.
She walked in and saw Matthew and Marcus lounging on the old, beaten-up sofas in the living room. She sat down on an empty chair and said,
"Change of plan, they're getting suspicious. We need to act quickly."
She sent a text to Scott then started explaining her plan to the brothers.
Scott's phone dinged and he looked down to see who had texted him. It was Artemis the text read, 'Sorry Scott, I'm not feeling that great, must be something I ate. Can't make it over today, maybe some other time?'
Scott read it aloud to his pack members.
"Unless you guys have something important we need to talk about, you might as well go home. I know I have some reading for AP Bio. See you guys at school."
He went upstairs, into his bedroom, and closed the door.
"That was weird," Malia commented.
"Yeah," Liam agreed.
"Well, see ya guys," Stiles stood up and went outside. The other three heard him start his jeep and pull away. They also left and Liam was wondering why Scott had acted the way he did and why Artemis didn't show up. Was she the one who had knocked? Did she hear their conversation? Could she be a werewolf after all?
A/N: you know what guys? I'm gonna post the next one today anyways. Enjoy!
