Chapter 4

Up in his room, Scott was texting Stiles,
Stiles: 'hey man what was that all about'
Scott: 'sorry i need to find out if artemis is a werewolf or hunter'
Stiles: 'how'
Scott: 'i think she knocked i can follow her scent'
Stiles: 'i'm coming with'
Scott: 'no'
Stiles: 'too late :)'

Scott sighed and decided to wait for Stiles. When he finally arrived, Scott caught a scent that didn't smell like his friends and smelled female and they followed it to an abandoned looking house on the outskirts of town. Scott stopped and Stiles bent over, panting, next to him.
"Is this… where she… lives?"
"Yeah, I think so, come on."

Scott walked up to the door and listened with his werewolf hearing. He heard some people talking inside, it sounded like Artemis and two guys. He knocked on the door and they all rushed away trying not to make a sound. Scott pushed the door open and went inside. No one was there but a window was wide open. Scott used his werewolf senses to smell the room and could say, with definite confidence, that Artemis and the two guys that were in here were werewolves.

"So," Stiles asked, "is she a werewolf?"
"Yeah, definitely."
"What does she want with Beacon Hills?"
"I don't know, but we're going to find out."

The school bell rang and Artemis rushed out of her class, it was lunch and she needed to meet her brothers to go over the plan one more time.

After explaining her plan to the boys the previous day, there was a knock at the door and the three of them scurried to get out as quickly as possible. They had climbed out of the window. It was a one story house, so it was easy. They crept around to bushes in front of the house and watched as Scott and Stiles came out, they were talking and it sounded like they were discussing the fact that Artemis was a werewolf. They waited for Stiles and Scott to leave before going back in their house. They had decided to execute their plan the next day.

So now the boys were in one of the classrooms where they would wait until it was time for them to hide outside and catch Liam after Artemis lured him out. She was on her way to said classroom when she spotted Stiles by his locker, alone, lucky her. She walked over casually and put her arm over his shoulders. With her other hand, she had her claws out and held them to his abdomen. She hissed in his ear,
"Come with me Stiles and you won't get hurt."

He nodded and let her lead him to one of the classroom doors. He opened it as instructed and was pushed inside. Artemis closed the door behind them and Marcus took up his place to stand guard. Matthew grabbed Stiles and held him tightly so he was unable to get away. Artemis stood in front of him.

"Stiles, you going to answer my questions with the truth or Matthew here will hurt you, which I'm sure he's dying to do. He hasn't hunted in oh so long."
Stiles nodded and said, "So you're werewolves then, huh?"

Matthew punched him in the gut and Stiles doubled over, coughing. Artemis bent down to look him in the eye.

"I didn't ask you a question. Now, why were you and Scott at our house yesterday?"
"He wanted to check on you, you know 'cause you said you weren't feeling good."
"Is that so?" Artemis nodded to Matthew who again punched Stiles, "Tell me the truth Stiles. Matthew is taking it easy on you. You wouldn't want to make him mad. He can't control his shifts when he's mad."
"Fine, fine. Scott wanted to find out if you were a werewolf."
"Okay, what do know about werewolves?"
"A whole lot. I might as well be one myself."
"Oh? What are you Stiles, not human. Why would a human be in a True Alpha werewolf's pack?"
"I'm an abominable snowman. But it's more of a winter thing, you know, seasonal."
"Oh," she laughed, "that's funny."

Then she punched him in the face and drove her knee into his stomach. He doubled over again, coughing, trying to draw in breath.

"Didn't he offer you the bite, Stiles? Didn't he give you the chance to be stronger, better, more powerful?"
Stiles, finally being able to speak, said with a hoarse voice, "I didn't want it."

"Okay, I'll give you one more chance to tell me what I want. Why are supernatural creatures being drawn here?"
"It's a great vacation place. You know, California, who wouldn't want to come here."

Artemis grabbed his neck with a strong grip and started putting pressure. She could see him beginning to struggle for breath.

"I said I want the truth. Why was I drawn here?"
"The Nemeton," he choked out and she let go, nodding, "Good, thank you. What's the Nemeton?"

Just then, Scott came through the door and saw what was going on. Marcus stepped closer to Artemis and Matthew brought his werewolf claws up to Stiles's neck. The rest of pack, except Liam, came in and tensed when they saw the situation.

"Artemis, what are you doing?" Scott said with warning clear in his voice.
"I'm just getting to know Stiles."

Scott shifted and said, "Let him go. I'm only going to ask once."

"I can be very dangerous, Scott McCall, so don't underestimate me," she growled. She then nodded to Matthew who threw Stiles to the floor. He and Marcus followed her out of the classroom, pushing past Scott's pack.

Stiles fell to the floor and everyone rushed up to him. Scott helped him to his feet and asked if he was alright.
"I'm fine," he pushed them off of him, "I'm okay. They didn't do anything to me."
"But your face," Lydia said, touching his now bruising cheek.
He grabbed her and pulled her hand away. He looked her in the eye and made eye contact with everyone before saying, "Guys, calm down. I'm not made of China, I'm fine."
They nodded and came off it.

Scott turned to Stiles and asked, "What did she want?"
"She wanted to know why she was drawn to here. I told her it was the Nemeton and I was about to explain it to her when you guys came in and saved me. He patted Scott on the back, "Thanks for that."
"No problem man."

Liam sat there, waiting for the clock to hit 2:00pm. His leg bounced impatiently. Finally, the bell rang and he got up. Artemis followed him out of the classroom door. She stopped him in the hallway and said, "Hey, Liam, I want to tell you something."
"Sure, what is it?"
"Um, can we speak somewhere more private?" She sounded nervous.
"Sure," he followed her and she led him out of the school and to the side of the building. They were the only people there so Liam, with his back to the woods, said, "What's up?"
"I have to tell you something that you can't tell anyone else."
"Ok."
"I'm—"

Artemis was cut off when Liam suddenly cried out. He was grabbed from behind and a hand was clamped over his mouth. He looked at Artemis in shock when she just stood there watching with a smile. He struggled and shifted to his werewolf self. But even then, he wasn't strong enough to fight against the two bigger, stronger werewolves. He finally gave up and looked at Artemis with a question in his eyes: Why?

"Oh, Liam. I'm surprised Scott didn't tell you what happened to Stiles during school. Did he even tell you that I was a werewolf?"

Liam didn't answer but he looked confused so Artemis said, "I'm going to take that as a no."

She then set her backpack on the ground and, zipping it open, pulled a syringe out. Liam looked at it with fright and started struggling again. He tried to call out for help, for Scott, but the hand was still silencing him, causing his cries to come out muffled.

"Don't worry Liam. I'm not going to do anything too bad. I'm just kidnapping you. This thing I'm going to inject you with is mixture containing just enough wolfsbane to knock you out. It really is very difficult to transport a werewolf as strong as yourself, with anger issues, I might add, while you struggle. So believe me, this is better for both of us."

She reached over and rested the syringe on Liam's neck. She steadied it so she would only have to do it once. Then, she pushed it in and he flinched, she pushed the mixture into Liam's bloodstream and waited for it to take effect. She removed the syringe and put it back into her bag.

"Good, thank you," she smiled at Marcus and Matthew and said, "Let's go before it wears off."
