A/N: I've never written this kind of story before so sorry that it didn't turn out how I wanted it to.
Chapter 5
Scott called Liam again and waited until the voicemail message came up. He'd already texted him a lot and called him at least ten times. And he wasn't the only one. Everyone started freaking out,
"This is just like with Garrett. Next thing you know, Scott will be pulling him out of a well again," Stiles said, pacing up and down Scott's room.
"Do you think it was that new girl, Artemis?" Malia asked, "She already beat up Stiles. Maybe she wants something from you Scott. I mean, what's a better way to get to an alpha than through his own Beta?"
"But that's just it," Scott said, "what would she want from me?"
Everyone stared at the floor in silence as they mulled in over. They could only hope that, if Artemis was the one who had taken Liam, he was okay.

Liam woke up in a dark room. He was sitting against a pole that he was chained to. He pulled against them but he felt so weak and could barely do anything.
"Hello? Anyone? Scott! Can someone help me, please?"
"Oh, you're finally awake," the door opened in front of Liam and light flooded in, temporarily blinding him. Artemis came in, a silhouette to the light from outside, and knelt down in front of him.
"What do you want? Why did you kidnap me?"
"I don't want anything from you Liam, it's Scott I need to sway. And you seem to be the perfect way in."
"What are you going to do to me?"
"Nothing really, unless you or Scott don't give me what I want. But I might have to inject you with a little wolfsbane or show you I'm serious if you try to escape."
"Where are we?"
"As if I'm going to tell you that," she laughed, "I can't have you running away. You're my leverage."
She stood up and walked to the door. She turned around and looked at him, "Have fun!"
Then she closed the door, locked it, and Liam was consumed by darkness.

At the high school, Scott, Stiles, Malia, and Lydia were looking for Artemis.
"There she is!" Lydia pointed into the sea of students and the other three turned their heads. Scott caught a glimpse of her just before she went through a classroom door.
"I saw her," he said, "Let's go."
He motioned for his friends to follow him and went in the direction that Artemis had gone. When they reached the door, he looked inside; Artemis was the only one and she was on her phone, calling someone. He listened with his super-hearing, "Just check on him every now and again. We can't risk him getting away or it will be our heads on the steaks. We need Scott, and the beta is the only way to get him."
Hearing this made Scott angry and he was unable to control himself. He pushed the door open with his full werewolf strength and charged inside. Artemis jumped and whirled around. She looked shocked, but only for a moment. She quickly gathered herself and smiled at Scott as his friends filtered in and closed the door behind them.
"Hey, Scott. How's it going? Malia, Lydia, Stiles. Oh, sorry about yesterday. But you boys really had no reason to come into my house. You could have just asked me if I was a werewolf. Now, there's something—"
Scott cut her off when he grabbed her roughly and thrust her against the wall, "Where's Liam?"
She remained unfazed and only chuckled before answering, "As I was saying, there's something important I need to talk to you about. But you seem to already know. So, let's just cut to the chase, shall we? Yes, I have Liam. And yes, he's okay, for now. If you want proof I'd be happy to give it to you but you'd have to wait until tomorrow, and I'm sure you guys don't want to waste time. You know the first twelve hours after a kidnapping are the most crucial. Also, I do want something in return for Liam's safety."
"What do you want?"
"I need you to protect me."
"From what?"
"My old pack."
"Why do you need to be protected?"
"Because they want to kill me!" Artemis pushed Scott away and took up her place in the middle of the room again, sitting on one of the desks.
"What did you do to them?" Scott asked, eyeing her with suspicion.
"Nothing, my mother was the alpha and one of the pack members killed her. They killed my dad too and they tried to kill me. But I ran away."
Stiles spoke up then and asked, "Who are the two jocks?"
"Mitchell and Marcus. They're like brothers to me. They're orphans but my parents adopted them a couple of years back and the three of us grew close. They came with me when I ran away."
Scott talked again and said, "Why didn't you just ask me to help you. You didn't have to take Liam."
"No!" She jumped up, "I'm keeping Liam until I'm safe. I don't know you and I don't trust you. I'll keep in contact," She walked out of the room without turning for a second glance at Scott and his friends.

"Ahhhhh!"
Liam yelled into the empty room out of frustration. He had no idea how long he had been there but he was sick of it. The wolfsbane had started to wear off and he pulled against the chains with all his strength. It wasn't enough but Liam didn't want to wait for his strength fully return. He yelled out like he had already done a few thousand times, cursing and threatening his captors even though they all knew he couldn't do shit about it, "Scott will find out where I am! And when he does, you'll be sorry!"
He heard the sound of laughter and he couldn't control his anger, "Oh, you're laughing at me! You think it makes you so big to laugh at someone who's tied up? You think you're so strong? You're hiding behind a locked door! Why don't come in here and face me like a man?"
The door opened and Liam immediately regretted having said that. One of Artemis's brothers, at least he thought they were her brothers, came in with a big smile on his face,
"You think you have any grounds to threaten me on?" His voice was low and kind of rough. He bent down in front of Liam to look him in the eye, "I have a feeling you're not as tough as you look."
Liam was more frightened than he would have cared to admit. The guy was a lot bigger than he had remembered. With a shaky voice, Liam said, "So who are you then?"
The boy laughed, "I'm Marcus. Sorry man, but it seems you got the worst of us two."
Liam barely got time to be confused before Marcus punched him in the face.
His head whipped to the side and he could taste blood. He suddenly got an idea for a way to escape this place. He spit his reddening saliva on the floor and looked Marcus in the eye.
"What are you trying to prove? That you're stronger than me?"
"I am."
"Really? Beating up someone who literally can't defend themselves or fight back makes you strong?"
"What are you saying?"
Liam had to stop himself from rolling his eyes. Boy this guy's stupid, he thought to himself. He suppressed a sigh and explained, "I'm saying that it doesn't prove you're stronger than me if I can fight back. You may as well be hitting a punching bag."
"Okay, okay," Marcus got up and moved around to behind Liam. Liam hoped the wolfsbane had completely worn off by then, otherwise he wouldn't be able to win the fight and would probably be beaten to a pulp.
He heard keys jangle and the unmistakable sound of a padlock popping open. The chains that had been securing him to a pole, fell to the concrete floor and Liam got up. He stretched and rubbed his sore arms and wrists, then he felt a blinding pain on the side of his head. Marcus had punched him.
Liam shook away the dizziness and got ready in a fighting position. Marcus hit at him again and Liam dodged it, countering with a quick jab to the other boy's abdomen. He seemed unfazed, but Liam felt as if he had just punched a wall. He realized that this would be a losing battle. So he decided on the other half of 'Fight or Flight,' and ran out the still open door. He heard Marcus's startled cry and the other brother's answering call but he was too focused on escaping to know what they were saying.
Turns out, Liam had been inside a house the whole time. He was at a fork in the hallway and dashed to the left. He only found out too late that he had chosen the wrong side. He nearly ran into a wall when he saw it was a dead end. He turned around and both brothers were grinning at him.
"Shit," he whispered before charging at them, trying to catch them off guard. They seemed to be prepared for it. They both stepped to the side, and when Liam reached them, they each grabbed one of him arms and practically lifted him off the ground. Liam struggled with no effect as they half dragged, half carried him back to the room he had been locked in for who knows how long. They chained him up again and Marcus threw in a punch for good measure and said,
"I win."
Matthew left and came back with another syringe of what Liam guessed was probably that same mixture Artemis had injected him with the first time. Matthew grabbed Liam's head and pushed it against the pole, exposing his neck completely. He brought the syringe up and pushed the liquid into Liam's blood. He could already feel it taking effect and his vision became blurry. He passed out.
A/N: This is all I have for now but I will try to update every Friday. Thank you for sticking with me so far.
