AN: Hey guys, sorry about another short chapter, I'm really bad at making time for writing everyday, but I'll make sure to still get chapters out every week. Enjoy!
Chapter 9
Artemis stood outside Scott McCall's house fidgeting with the hem of her shirt. She was glad her brothers hadn't followed her but at the same time, in case Scott got angry and dangerous, it would have been nice to know she had some kind of backup. She listened to what was going on inside, there was only one heartbeat as far as she could tell, it was calm and at rest.
Good, she thought, one person is easier to handle than four. She hesitated before knocking. She heard Scott yell, "Coming!" before his footsteps came closer to the door. Still listening, she caught the brief increase in his heartbeat.
He must know it's me, she whispered in her mind, Does that mean he's scared of me? She smiled. Or angry? She hoped her face didn't show how scared she was. Her own heart started racing and she turned around, ready to leave and run away, when the door opened behind her.

Scott was sitting on his couch, reading, when there was a knock at his door,
"Coming!" he called, before standing up, setting his book down, and looking to see who it was.
He looked through the peephole and saw Artemis, his heart rate quickened but he forced it to slow down before opening the door.
"What do you want?"
"I want to apologize."
"What?" That was not what he expected her to say. She seemed sincere but she never dropped her tough attitude, "What do you mean apologize?"
"I mean I'm sorry I kidnapped Liam and threatened you guys. My pack is really dangerous, and I don't want to die. I'm not saying you're untrustworthy but for me growing up, trust was very difficult. Too many people have betrayed me. So having some sort of leverage over you gave me security. I don't know if I can or should trust you but I know that letting Liam go felt right to me and I hope that you can forgive me and please help me defeat my pack."
"I don't know about that Artemis. I mean, you seemed pretty clear about us being enemies."
"Come on. Don't tell me none of your enemies have become allies and friends, or maybe even lovers. Stories of your pack travel far, even all the way to Colorado. Everyone's heard that the Argents have gone soft, taken your side."
Her mentioning the Argents, Allison, angered Scott. He grabbed Artemis and roughly pushed her against the wall.
"This is how you try to convince me to help you?"
She remained unfazed.
"Hey, man. I hope you get that you're my only option, but it's difficult for someone to change in less than an hour. All us werewolves are happy the Argents aren't hunters anymore. It gives us a better fighting chance."
"Artemis," Scott sighed, "I'm not sure I can help you. My whole pack⦠they kind of hate you. Especially Liam and Malia, the two strongest."
"Please, just talk to them. I'll do anything. Even leave and be an Omega."
"I'll see what I can do. Wait here."
Scott pulled out his phone and left the room. Soon the rest of the pack was there, Artemis sat on Scott's couch as they looked down at her, whispering, talking about what their decision was going to be. Scott stepped forward,
"We have decided."
