Dragon Music Tales

A/N: Okay, the title of these series of one-shots may sound a bit cheesy, but it's the only thing I can come up with that actually didn't sound too corny.

I can't post these as often as other updates, so, don't expect much of these soon. I will only do thirty one-shots. I can't have too much on my plate right now.

Anyhow, let's get along with the first of these one-shots! Roll it!

What More is Out There?

Summary: A five-year-old Misfit Trio hang out together after the deaths of Juno's parents. They wonder what else is out there in the world now that they realize that they're different than most other Vikings. This basically is how the Misfit Trio came to be.

Pre-HTTYD.

Hiccup, Ragnar, and Juno sat together on a large cliffside, overlooking the village. It had been quite an eventful day, especially for Juno, and not in the best way either. She had lost her mother and stepfather in that morning's dragon raid. She had been crying her eyes out almost all morning, but Hiccup and Ragnar were there to comfort her.

At the age of five, Hiccup wore a dark green long-sleeved tunic, brown pants, and tan fur boots. Ragnar wore a red long-sleeved tunic, a black fur vest, and blue pants with brown fur boots. Juno wore her brown hair in two cute little braids over her shoulders, her bangs on her forehead and sloping down to touch her left cheek, her stepfather's silver dragon pendant around her neck, and a black long-sleeved shirt, gray leather skirt, dark green pants, and gray fur boots.

They don't speak for a bit, for they were deep in thought. They had heard lots of whispers from the older Vikings about them when they were listening to the Council meeting earlier, waiting for Hiccup's father to finish up.

"Poor girl. She's all alone now. Where will she go?"

"The Chief said that she will stay with him from now on, since he is her godfather."

"At least she could easily belong there, with those two boys of his. They seem to get along well."

"But they're not like us. They probably won't even make real Vikings."

That last comment made Juno run out of the Great Hall in tears. Hiccup and Ragnar followed her to try and comfort her. Eventually, they found her at her old home, crying. They came to sit beside her and hug her until she could cry no more.

After several minutes, Hiccup suggested that he and Ragnar show Juno their favorite spot on the island. Curious, Juno agreed. The three of them walked throughout the forest, and up to a cliff high above the village.

The boys explained to their new friend that they would always come to the cliff when they really want to think. Maybe that's why the elder Vikings say they're different, because they think instead of just fight and play and train with the other kids. Much to their surprise, Juno didn't think that it was weird at all. She often did that herself, going off by herself instead of training.

"Have you ever wondered what's out there?" Ragnar asked, breaking the silence.

"What do you mean?" Hiccup inquired to his foster brother.

"I don't know. Like, there's something out there for us." Ragnar tried to explain.

"I sometimes feel like that." Juno said. "I wonder what else is out there."

"Yeah, me too." Hiccup said as he and his friends looked at the horizon, then down at the village. Just then, Juno began to sing softly.

Juno: We've walked through all those paths before.
In and out of almost every door, oh-whoa-oh.

Then, the boys started to join in, one by one.

Ragnar: There's nothing in this town that we don't know.
When it comes to smarts, we're the best.
The highest scores on any test.
But still, I wonder when it will be time for us to go.

All: I know there's more that's out there,
And we just haven't found it yet.
I know there's more that's out there,
Another me I haven't met.

Hiccup then stood up as he began to sing by himself. His eyes were looking down at the village.

Hiccup: This town is full of people,
Yet still, we don't belong.
They only dream of victory;
Look at us like something's wrong.

Maybe we're better off alone.
Will we find what we're looking for
If we just do it on our own?

Ragnar and Juno then joined him in standing up.

All: I know there's more that's out there,
Something to fill this hole inside.
I know there's more that's out there,
And I'm not afraid to try.

There's only so much the town could offer,
And I'm not saying that it's wrong.
But I know there's more that's out there
'Cause I've been searching all along.

The Misfit Trio then backed away a bit, still looking down at the village before they looked out towards the horizon.

Juno: Beyond those rooms, beyond those walls,

Ragnar: So much to learn, I can't see it all.

Hiccup: There's something out there, calling me.

All: And it's a mystery
That I can't wait to see.
'Cause I know there's more that's out there,
Another place, another way.

And I know there's more that's out there,
And I'll find out someday!
I'll find out someday.

"Hey, let's make up a motto. Just for the three of us." Juno suggested, feeling better than she had been all day.

"Great idea." Hiccup said.

"What will it be?" Ragnar asked excitedly.

Juno thought for a bit, then smiled. "How about…'Misfits we may be, but we stick together'?"

"Why misfits?" Ragnar asked.

"Well, it's because we're different than the other kids. And a misfit is one way to describe someone who is different." Juno explained.

"I like it." Hiccup grinned.

"Okay!" Ragnar agreed.

"Misfits we may be…" Juno held out her fist.

"But we stick together!" Hiccup and Ragnar reached out their own fists to meet Juno's in a group fist bump, which marked the beginning of a beautiful and strong friendship that will last a lifetime.

A/N: How that for a quick one-shot! The song I used is called "What More is Out There?" from "Equestria Girls: The Friendship Games". Don't give me that look, though! I just love that song! I just feel its power and longing whenever I hear it. I don't own the song in any way.

Well, that's just an early Christmas present for you guys. It will take some time to start my version of "Riders of Berk", so, I thought I can quickly upload this. Hope you guys like it. Don't forget to leave a review.
