If You Love Me For Me

Summary: Ragnar and Juno have a romantic stroll throughout Dragon's Edge, and the two finally confess their feelings for each other.

WARNING: THIS ONE-SHOT TAKES PLACE IN A STORY THAT HAS NOT BEEN POSTED YET, BUT WILL BE IN THE FAR FUTURE. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Ragnar and Juno were sitting on a cliff edge over the lagoon at Dragon's Edge, looking at the soft yellow sunset that they hadn't seen in the past couple of days due to the recent storms. Fossil and Coccinelle were napping further down, since for the past two days, things had been really keeping them on their toes.

Astrid went blind during one of the more recent storms when she went to check on the frightened dragons in the stables. All of the dragons scattered, and then the following morning, everyone split up to search the island for them. Astrid had to tag along with Hiccup; well, it was more like she forced him to bring her along when he refused to let her come because of her current condition.

They eventually found Stormfly, as well as Sleuther, the Triple Stryke that the Riders had rescued from the dragon fighting circuit to try and train. The rare Strike Class dragon had attacked them, but Astrid had managed to use her other senses to finally train the stubborn dragon.

Finally, just earlier that afternoon, the other Riders had brought Gothi to Dragon's Edge, and she restored Astrid's sight. The Riders were all greatly relieved by that. Things were back to normal at last.

"Nice day, huh?" Ragnar attempted to start a conversation, seeing how quiet they were for the past few minutes.

"Definitely." Juno agreed.

After a couple more minutes of awkward silence, she spoke up again. "Want to take a walk? We'll let Coccinelle and Fossil sleep."

Ragnar raised a confused eyebrow, but complied. "Okay."

The two walked for a little bit through the forest, both of them still in an awkward silence. Juno began to think about how she can tell Ragnar how she truly felt about him, since she had promised herself that today will finally be the day. Plus, she could tell that the growing chemistry between Astrid and Hiccup became too strong that it will be much harder for them to ignore. She was pretty sure that by now, they were kissing.

But she and Ragnar still haven't said anything about the recent tension in their own relationship. Juno really hoped that Ragnar felt the same way about her, but how can she know for sure without making it awkward?

Finally, an idea popped in her head. Quietly, she started to sing, looking down at the ground beneath her.

Juno: Once a lass met a lad,
"You're a gentle one," said she.
In my heart, I'd be glad
If you loved me for me.

You say your love is true,
And I hope that it will be.

Ragnar was surprised that she was singing a song like this, but with a smile, he joined in.

Ragnar: I'd be sure if I knew
That you loved me for me.

Juno released a breath she didn't know she was holding as she looked up at him. Her nervousness disappeared and she gained a bit more confidence, a smile slowly forming on her face.

Juno: Could I be the one you're seeking?
Will I be the one you choose?
Can you tell my heart is speaking?
My eyes will give you clues.

Ragnar: What you see may be deceiving.
Truth lies underneath the skin.

The two reached a beautiful flower field, having all kinds of flowers, and Ragnar picked a beautiful yellow rose and gave it to Juno.

Juno: Hope will blossom by believing.

Both: The heart that lies within.

Juno smiled shyly while blushing a light pink. She carefully threaded the flower into the side of her head, behind her ear, and she and Ragnar continued walking.

Ragnar: I'll be yours.
Together, we shall always be as one,
If you love me for me.

Juno: Who can say where we'll go? (Ragnar: I'll be yours.)
Who can promise what will be? (Together,)
But I'll stay by your side, (We shall always be as one,)

Both: If you love me for me.
If you love me for me.

They had reached the cliff edge where they had started their little stroll, and they shared an embrace as they admired the beautiful sunset as it turned from a soft orange color into a dark and fiery red hue.

In a bold move from the confidence that he mustered during their little song, Ragnar gently placed a hand on Juno's cheek and moved it around to face him. With a loving look in his eyes, he then gently placed his lips on hers. Without a moment's hesitation, she returned it, just as gentle, but the passion between them was what made the kiss strong and spoke the words that they had wanted to say for so long.

A little bit further away, watching the little scene between their best friends, Hiccup and Astrid had seen it all and just smiled softly at them. "Well, it's about time." Astrid said, putting an arm around Hiccup's back as he did the same around her waist, holding her close to him.

"Yeah." Hiccup agreed. He couldn't feel happier for both of them.

A/N: All right, I do admit, I have a lot of these one-shots in the "Race to the Edge" time period. But I will put up spoiler warnings before the one-shot begins, just to give you guys a heads-up.

Sorry if this was short yet again. I'm terrible at writing on-the-spot romantic scenes. It seems like I can only do it if the plot heads in that direction. Oh, well. Maybe I'll get better. Soon, I hope.

The song I used is "If You Love Me For Me" from the Barbie version of "The Princess and the Pauper". Don't ask. I used to love that movie like every other girl, but now, I mostly just like the songs. It brings back memories. I don't own the song in any form or way.
