Show Yourself

A/N: After his father's Viking funeral after the first battle with Drago Bludvist, Hiccup hears that same Voice that called him to lead the Riders beyond the Barbaric Archipelago almost two years prior. He journeys into the heart of the home of the recently deceased Bewilderbeast to find out the truth about himself and who he is, which can provide the answers on how to save Toothless and the other dragons.

WARNING: THIS ONE-SHOT COMES FROM A STORY THAT HASN'T BEEN POSTED YET. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Hiccup looked out towards the burning ship that served as his father's funeral boat. Everything turned out so wrong within the span of minutes. He had finally found his mother Valka, who was thought to be dead, and they were reunited with his father. The thought of being a complete family, along with Ragnar and Juno, felt so wonderful. But then Drago Bludvist attacked the nest of the Bewilderbeast.

It was a fierce battle, and the Dragon Riders had gained a new ally in Eret, the lead Dragon Trapper that the Misfit Trio, along with Astrid, had encountered hours earlier. Hiccup decided to reason with Drago, but the man showed no interest, and after his Bewilderbeast killed his mother's, he ordered him to take control of Toothless and kill him. But Stoick managed to push his son out of the way, but right in the line of fire.

Hiccup had never felt such pain and emptiness. Neither did Ragnar and Juno. The only parental figure that they had known for either most of, or all of, their lives was gone. After that, Drago took control of all of the dragons from the nest, including the Riders'. That only poured salt onto the wound that Hiccup was feeling upon seeing Toothless in a trance as he flew away with the others. It was failure, but it also came with a great loss.

After proceeding with the burning of the ship holding Stoick's body, Hiccup just watched it as it slowly floated away, smoldering into bits of flames and charred wood. Tears slowly trickled down his cheeks.

"I'm sorry, Dad." He whispered. He could feel everyone's eyes on him, looking at him with sympathy. "I'm not the chief that you wanted me to be. And I'm not the peacekeeper I thought I was. I don't know…" He trailed off with a sigh. He wasn't sure what to do anymore.

Then, he felt a gentle hand on his head, caressing his wild auburn locks. It was his mother.

"You came early into this world." She said before gently removing her fingers. "You were such a wee thing. So frail, so fragile. I feared you wouldn't make it."

She then looked back out towards the burning ship. "But your father...he never doubted."

She then came in front of him, placing her hands on his shoulders while Ragnar and Juno took either side of him. "It was the same thing with you two." She said to them.

"Both of you also came into this world a little earlier than expected, and your parents all feared that you wouldn't last the winter. But Stoick gave them all hope that the three of you would pull through it. He always said that the three of you would be the strongest of them all. And he was right."

Valka placed her hand on her son's cheek. "You have the heart of a chief, and the soul of a dragon." She said before looking over towards Juno and Ragnar. "And you two have the most loyal and compassionate hearts; hearts that prove that you are just as capable of becoming great leaders like Hiccup. All three of you have the souls of dragons; free spirits. Only you three can bring our worlds together. That is who you are."

Ragnar and Juno smiled softly at her, but Hiccup just stared at her with thoughtful eyes. He slowly walked away from her and continued staring at the burning ship of his father's body.

"I was so afraid of becoming my dad." He admitted. "Mostly because I thought I never could. How do you become someone that great? That brave? That selfless? I guess you can only try."

With those words echoing in his mind, Hiccup's face turned into one of resolve. He knew what they must do now. He then turned back towards his family and the other Riders.

"A chief protects his own." He said, repeating his father's words that were spoken to him earlier that day. "We're going back."

Most of the other Riders nodded in agreement, little smiles appearing on their faces. "Uh, with what?" Tuffnut asked him.

"He took all the dragons." Ruffnut reminded.

But Hiccup just lightly smirked. Ragnar and Juno then had similar ones appearing on their own faces. They knew that look. Hiccup has a plan.

"Not all of them." He said simply.

Suddenly, Hiccup heard a familiar sound. One that he hadn't heard in almost two years. Not since that night before the Riders' adventures beyond the Archipelago.

"Aah-ah-aah-ah."

The Voice. The land spirit that called out to him before. And it sounded so close. Like it was coming from within the cavern of ice. Hiccup looked around and saw a large crevice in the ice nearby a few ledges down from where they were. The Voice seemed to have come from there.

"Hiccup?" Ragnar asked his foster brother. "Are you okay?"

The Haddock heir lightly shook his head. "Yeah, uh, how about you and Juno get the others over to the main cavern?" He suggested. "There's something I gotta check out first."

Without waiting for a response, Hiccup began to head over towards the crevice. Both Ragnar and Juno blinked at how odd their friend was acting, but decided to obey his orders. They then turned over to the other Riders.

"Come on, guys." Juno said, leading over towards the main cavity in the ice. "Let's find ourselves a ride home."

"And fast." Ragnar added, picking up the pace.

As the other Riders hurried after them, Valka began to trail behind, looking back to where her son was going towards. At last, he'll know of his destiny.

When Hiccup reached the top of the first ledge, he heard the Voice call out again. "Aah-ah-aah-ah."

Hiccup's eyes zeroed in on the crevice in the ice. "I hear you." He said. "And I'm coming."

As he managed to hop down from ledge to ledge, mindful of the icy moss, rock, and of his prosthetic leg, he quietly began to sing.

Hiccup: Every inch of me is trembling,
But not from the cold.
Something is familiar,
Like a dream I can reach but not quite hold.

Soon, he had reached the ledge where the crevice was. True, it was a little colder than from above, but Hiccup paid it no mind. He had to figure out once and for all who was calling out to him.

I can sense you there
Like a friend I've always known.
I'm arriving,
And it feels like I am home.

Then, with a deep breath, he slowly and cautiously entered the crevice, mindful of where he was stepping. The walls were pure crystal blue that gradually got darker the further he walked in. He could somewhat see his frosty breath accumulate in front of him because of the chill around him, but he paid it no mind.

I have always been a fortress,
Cold secrets deep inside.
You have secrets, too,
But you don't have to hide.

Show yourself.
I'm dying to meet you.
Show yourself.
It's your turn.

Are you the one I've been looking for
All of my life?
Show yourself.
I'm ready to learn.

When Hiccup could hardly see his hands in front of his face, he decided to see where he was supposed to go next. And he knew just how to do.

Ah-ah-ah-ah.

After a couple of seconds, he got a response.

Voice: Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah.

Suddenly, a bright purple light appeared from another crevice in the icy wall. For a brief moment, the violet color reminded him of Toothless' plasma blast. It was the same land spirit from before. And then the light flew down the crevice.

Hiccup lightly smiled as he followed the light into the separate crevice, trying his best to keep up. Sometimes, he caught up with it, and he ran his hand along the icy wall. The light seemed to come alive as it circled around him from inside the ice.

Hiccup: I've never felt so certain.
All my life, I've been torn.
But I'm here for a reason.
Could it be the reason I was born?

Just then, Hiccup saw a large opening ahead of him with no more ice to walk on. Smirking, he got himself ready in a crouched position, and then jumped forward while opening up the wings of his flight suit to glide over to the other side, all while performing a couple of twirls in the air.

I have always been so different.
Normal rules did not apply.

When he landed on the other side, quickly regaining balance on the ice, he quickly tucked away the wings of his suit. Right when he placed his hand to contain maintaining balance, the bright purple light appeared again, and then zoomed ahead of him.

Is this the day?
Are you the way
I finally find out why?

Hiccup quickly followed after it and saw a thin wall of ice blocking his path. The confident smile still on his face, he got ready. Right before he could crash into the wall, he jumped up and then kicked with his metal leg, and the wall broke into millions of pieces, all while Hiccup landed back on his feet. He certainly had gotten more skill than when he was a gangly teenager.

Show yourself!
I'm no longer trembling.
Here I am.
I've come so far.

Hiccup managed to either slide, duck, evade, climb over, or even jump over a few jagged icicles protruding from the walls. Then he had reached the end of the cavity, where he found another wall of thin ice blocking his way. But he just took out Inferno, ignited the blade and then stabbed the wall, making it crumble and melt away.

You are the answer I've waited for
All of my life!
Oh, show yourself!
Let me see who you are!

Hiccup still held Inferno in his hand as he entered a different ice cavity, this one being almost pitch dark inside. But then, one by one, different colored lights appeared. The first one was a sharp blue and had taken the form of a Deadly Nadder. Then, it changed into a crystallized, circular piece with the emblem of the Sharp Class carved into it.

Next came a warm red light that took the shape of a Monstrous Nightmare. The same thing appeared as it changed again, turning into the crystal circle with the Stoker Class emblem, floating next to the blue one of the Sharp Class.

The third light was a warm turquoise color that changed into a Scauldron. Again, it became a crystal circle with the emblem of the Tidal Class inside of it and floated next to the red Stoker Class one.

The fourth light was silver that quickly became a Gronckle. Then it changed into its circular form with the Boulder Class emblem on it and hovered next to the aqua colored Tidal Class emblem.

The fifth one; a metallic greenish color that turned into a Rumblehorn. Once again, it turned into its crystallized form with the emblem of the Tracker Class and came next to the Tidal Class.

The sixth one; a more acid green color that changed into a Hideous Zippleback. It took its crystal appearance with the Mystery Class emblem carved on it and moved next to the Tracker Class.

Finally, the seventh one. It was the same purple light that led Hiccup into the cavity. Then it changed into the form of a Night Fury. Hiccup felt a little twang in his heart when he saw it, immediately thinking of Toothless. The hurt look on his face when he pushed him away after he learned that his father was dead.

But Toothless wasn't really responsible for it. Drago and his Bewilderbeast made him do it, and Toothless would never hurt him or any of his family. They were pretty much brothers themselves.

The purple Night Fury then changed into its crystallized form, having the emblem of the Strike Class on it. By then, Hiccup realized that all of the crystals had completely surrounded him.

Come to me now.
Open your door.
Don't make me wait
One moment more.

Slowly, the crystals began to land on the slick, icy floor, all of them still in their positions in the circle. And then Hiccup found himself in the middle of them.

Oh, come to me now.
Open your door.
Don't make me wait
One moment more.

Then, he saw something faintly glowing in the ice beneath him. Something fiery and red. Wanting to test something, Hiccup stomped his right leg onto the floor. Suddenly, the space under him was shining much brighter than before. The light then branched off to touch each one of the crystals that surrounded them, making them all glow intensely and warmly.

Hiccup felt so warm despite him being deep inside a glacier. Then, the lights beamed up towards the ceiling, colliding into each other. After that, the entire icy space was lit up, as if the sun itself was shining down inside of it. Hiccup then thought that he heard more voices singing. Then, he heard the familiar call of the land spirit.

He looked up towards the ceiling and saw the image of a little baby boy wrapped in a thick wool blanket looking up curiously at a giant but familiar storm Stormcutter. It was his mother's dragon, Cloudjumper. This must be the memory of the night Valka was taken.

Hiccup briefly saw another baby boy lying in a matching, separate cradle; sound asleep. That had be Ragnar, since he had already been taken in by Hiccup's parents after his own parents were killed.

Choir: Where the north wind
Meets the sea,
(Ah-ah-ah-ah.)
There's a river (Ah-ah-ah-ah!)
Full of memory.

A warm feeling crept into his heart when he saw his infant self make a special connection with what was once thought to be a Viking's worst enemy. Just then, he heard someone else singing. Someone very familiar.

Valka: Come, my darling, homeward bound.

He slowly turned around and saw his mother standing there, smiling at him proudly. A smile came onto his face as he tried his best to hold back the tears that were beginning to leak out.

Hiccup: I am found!

Both: Show yourself!
Step into your power.
Grow yourself
Into something new!

Just then, the crystals that were embedded in the icy floor, they began glowing again. Then, a tiny orb of light flew out of each of them and began spiralling towards each other, creating a brief flash of white light. When it faded, it revealed a beautiful crystal pendant in the shape of a dragon.

It then floated down to Hiccup as a thin metal chain appeared from thin air. The pendant was then placed around his neck, and Hiccup took a moment to briefly admire the lovely masterpiece that was given to him. After that, he looked back up towards his mother, the proud smile on her face growing even wider and more fond as she looked at her grown-up son.

Valka: You are the one you've been waiting for-

Hiccup: All of my life! (Choir: All of your life.)
Oh, show yourself!

Just then, there was a thick icy mist that began to encircle around them. But neither Hiccup or Valka were worried in the slightest. The young man then began to harmonize with the other ethereal voices within the icy chamber as the mist began to circle faster and faster around him and his mother.

Ah-ah-ah-ah. (Ah-ah-ah-ah.)
Ah-ah-ah-ah. (Ah-ah-ah-ah.)
Ah-ah-ah-ah!

The mist then enveloped them both, and when it faded, there was nothing left in the chamber. No colorful crystals, no light, nothing. It was as if nothing had happened in the first place.

When Hiccup blinked a couple of times, he saw that he and his mother were back where they were before he heard the voice of the land spirit. For a split second, he thought that it was just his imagination. But then, he saw the colorful crystal pendant around his neck. He briefly fingered it before tucking it under his flight suit to protect it.

"That is why you are so special." Valka said, getting her son's attention. "Like I said before, only you, along with Ragnar and Juno; you three can bring our worlds together. You do inspire people, Hiccup. But it's because you inspire the right people to do the right thing, if they only have the ear for it."

Hiccup smiled at her and then pulled her into a hug. "Thanks, Mom." He said.

Valka lightly tousled his auburn hair before they pulled away. "Now, let's get our dragons back." She said, a determined grin forming on her face.

Hiccup beamed back a matching grin at her, feeling more ready than ever to take on the challenge ahead of him. Then, both of them hurried over to where the others were to head back to Berk and stop Drago once and for all.

A/N: Obviously, this song was a must-do after I did "Into the Unknown." And "Show Yourself" is another incredible song from the movie "Frozen 2" that is a huge hit. However, I don't own it in any way or form. All credit goes to rightful owners.

After I post this, I'll soon have another poll on my profile asking you guys what song will be next. I think there's only two or three more choices left. And then once I'm done with those, then we'll have the last one-shot for this collection. Finally, after almost four years, I think.

Well, until next time, y'all! Please leave a review about what you think. They are highly appreciated. And sadly, since this collection is almost over, I won't be taking any more requests. And remember to stay healthy, guys!

Got to fly! ;)
