Well, that went well. Hiccup thought sarcastically. Ever since his father had been captured by Dagur, everyone was enraged at the act of the young and mad Berserker Chief and just wouldn't stop to listen to him. And the epic fail of a stunt that Snotlout pulled earlier which resulted in him having his butt on fire again didn't help very much either. The twins weren't exactly cooperating either, with them only riling up the angry mob of Vikings just because they liked having everyone shout.

Because of his father's kidnapping, Hiccup was made acting Chief in his absence. And yet, he still felt like no one was listening to him. Gobber had told him that his dad went through the same thing when he took the chieftainship. He still found it hard to believe, due to the fact that everything that he had seen Stoick do, it was with confidence and bravery. Everything that Hiccup knew that he would never be.

He was standing on the beach with Toothless, looking over in the direction of Outcast Island. Hiccup knew that Dagur won't kill Stoick. At least not yet. Not until the madman got what he wanted, which was him and Toothless.

"Hey." A voice said.

Hiccup turned around and saw Ragnar and Juno coming over to him with Fossil and Coccinelle. The three dragons then decided to play some chase while their Riders talked.

"You okay?" Ragnar asked him.

"I'll be okay." Hiccup answered. "I just kind of wish..."

"That they would take you seriously?" Juno finished for him.

Hiccup just nodded. "Well, just like Gobber said. Even Stoick had some rough bumps in the beginning."

"I still find that hard to believe." Hiccup muttered.

"Yeah, it does kind of boggle the mind." Ragnar added. "Dad not knowing what to do at first. But I know that he didn't back down. Eventually, everyone came around and trusted his judgement."

"But for me, they still look down on me." Hiccup muttered.

"No." Juno disagreed, shaking her head. "They're just angry that they're here and not on a boat to Outcast Island to rescue him and pound Dagur into the ground."

"But you have to show them that they can trust you as a leader, and a worthy future Chief." Ragnar said. "No matter what, you can't let them and the past bring you down now. Now when Dad's life is on the line. He's counting on you. We all are."

Hiccup let those words sink in for a few seconds before he silently walked to the shore, where the waves were gently crashing onto the sand. All of the shouts, the jeers; from both in the past and from a couple of hours earlier, rang in his mind. Then, he began to sing.

Hiccup: Here comes a wave
Meant to wash me away.
A tide that is taking me under.

Swallowing sand,
Left with nothing to say,
My voice drowned out in the thunder.

But then, he remembered how far he had come in the span of a year; from being the village runt and screw-up to becoming the lead Dragon Rider and head of the Dragon Training Academy. All because he was brave enough to show everyone that dragons aren't the beasts they thought they were by befriending the most feared dragon of all.

But I won't cry,
And I won't start to crumble,
Whenever they try
To shut me or cut me down.

He then clenched his fists as he focused a narrowed, steely gaze in the direction of Outcast Island.

I won't be silenced.
You can't keep me quiet.
Won't tremble when you try it.

All I know
Is I won't
Go speechless.

Then, he slowly began to turn around to face his friends and their dragons, who had stopped their game when they heard Hiccup singing.

'Cause I'll breathe
When they try to suffocate me.
Don't you underestimate me.

'Cause I know
That I won't
Go speechless.

Both Ragnar and Juno had confident grins on their faces as they came up to Hiccup, knowing that he was feeling much less clueless now.

Ragnar: Written in stone,
Every rule, every word,
Centuries old and unbending.

Juno: "Stay in your place."
"Better seen and not heard."
But now, that story is ending.

Hiccup smiled at them, feeling the confidence and determination begin to swell up inside of him because of their faith and loyalty in him.

All: 'Cause I,
I cannot start to crumble.
So come on and try,
Try to shut me and cut me down.

I won't be silenced.
You can't keep me quiet.
Won't tremble when you try it.

All I know
Is I won't
Go speechless.

Hiccup: Speechless!

Then, they headed over to their dragons and climbed on them. Their dragons took off into the air, heading back towards the village.

All: Let the storm in.
I cannot be broken.
No, I won't live unspoken

'Cause I know
That I won't
Go speechless.

Once Toothless had landed in the plaza, Hiccup dismounted him and began to walk over to the Great Hall, his dragon and his friends following behind him.

Hiccup: Try to lock me in this cage.
I won't just lay me down and die.
I will take these broken wings
And watch me burn across the sky!

Hear the echoes saying:
"I won't be silenced!"

All: Though you wanna see me
Tremble when you try it.
All I know is I won't
Go speechless

Hiccup: Speechless!

All: 'Cause I'll breathe,
When they try to suffocate me.

Hiccup: Don't you underestimate me!

All: 'Cause I know
That I won't
Go speechless.

All I know
Is I won't
Go speechless.

Hiccup: Speechless!

They had reached the entrance of the Great Hall right when they had finished singing. Feeling ready, Hiccup pushed with all his might and the large doors swung open with a loud bang, making the Vikings inside stop what they were doing and turned around to look at him.

"What are you doing here, Hiccup?" Snotlout asked him. "Let a real Chief handle this."

Hiccup narrowed his eyes at him, making him freeze at the cold gaze. "I am the acting Chief. I will decide how to handle this." He said firmly.

But then, he was suddenly bombarded with questions and shouts from the adults, along with the teasing shouts of the twins trying to keep the mob riled up. "What's going to happen to Stoick?"

"Why are we still here?

"We should storm the island!"

"What is your plan?"

Finally, Hiccup had enough of their disbelief and lack of faith in him. "ENOUGH!" He shouted, making everyone in the Great Hall fall silent.

"All of you, enough! All of this fighting isn't going to help my father. If we rush in and invade Outcast Island, Dagur will kill him. We need to come up with a good plan that will not only save my father, but also finally put Dagur away for good."

He then took a deep breath to calm himself, but he was still being very firm and authoritative, speaking like a true Chief. "We just need a bit more time. All I ask is that you all will be patient and understand what is at stake here. By tomorrow, my father will be back, I can promise you all that. I just ask that you have a bit more faith in me, because whether any of us like it or not, I am his son, his heir, and as for the moment, your acting Chief."

Without saying another word, Hiccup left the Great Hall, his dragon and his friends trailing behind him, feeling much more relieved than he had felt ever since Stoick was captured. But they weren't out of the woods yet. They still needed a rescue plan.

A/N: Okay, I know that this was a lot shorter than the past few one-shots, and probably not as good either, but this was really just about one scene between a couple of others. That, and I haven't seen "Defenders of Berk" in a while.

The song that I used is "Speechless" from the 2019 version of "Aladdin." I really love this song, and this won the poll by a landslide. But I don't own the song in any way or form. All credit goes to their rightful owners.

From now on, since I'm almost done with this collection, I won't be taking any more requests. But I will be posting one one-shot every month so that this will be finished before Christmas. After each one-shot, I'll be saying which song will be coming up next until the last one. That one will be a surprise. So coming this October, keep an eye out for "Queen of Mean."

Until then, I'll see y'all! Please leave a review about what you think. And remember to stay healthy.

Got to fly! ;)
