A/N: Sorry for the delay. I would've uploaded it yesterday but there were some technical difficulties with fanfiction.
November 12th, 2055
Walking into the building with a blank look, Rain waits for Archer and Angel to catch up to her as she walks through the door. Getting a visitor's pass and heading down the hallway, she knocks on one door and waits patiently for it to open.
Sei opens the door, swaying his hips eagerly. "Well, well, well, this is a surprise. What's up, Rainy, did ya miss me?"
"Like a baby missing the candy stolen from it." Rain kisses him on the cheek.
Sei sees the twins. "Aww, you brought lovable bodyguards here. Nice to see you again, Archer, Angel."
Angel looks at Archer. "He's not Archer, I'm Archer."
"You can't fool me, heaven boy."
Angel laughs. "Just kidding, he is Archer, and I'm Heaven's Angel."
"I know." Sei invites them in after seeing their visitor's pass. He shows them around his office with a small desk in the corner and a monitor. "So, what can I help you with? Police work?" He sinks into his leather chair.
"Something personal, somewhat." Rain sits on his desk, amplifying her breasts slightly. "Do you know what it's like to be a girl?"
Sei chuckles. "Well, I've tried on a ballerina dress once but that's only because my brother dared me to but…"
"You men are so lucky. Men are big and strong, don't have to worry about being stalked as much, have fewer chances of being kidnapped into sex trafficking, other stuff."
Sei nods. "Yeah, that is true; women aren't as strong as men. On the other hand, men aren't as flexible as women and I do love the way you flex in bed, Rainy."
ArchAngel looks over at their sister. They share a glance, a nonverbal communication going on between them.
"I've got more flexibility feats to show you." She leans forward. "If you help this poor redheaded Japanese girl solve a stalking case."
Sei flinches. "Do you have a stalker?"
"I'm pretty sure I do. Because I've been seeing this guy following me for the last few days and I've been wondering if you can help me out. I'm sure you can help me out."
"Why can't you ask your police buddies to help you out?"
Rain leans forward, her face inches from his. "I want to find this stalker's name and I want to put it up on Kira's website. Please." She moves her face an inch closer. "Please, can you help me out?"
She smiles, just for him.
Sei laughs. "Alright, just for you, sweetie. But… don't tell anyone about this or I could lose my job."
"My lips will be sealed from today onward until you and I are in bed again."
ArchAngel rolls their eyes.
"Can you pull up traffic light footage please?"
Sei turns to his monitor and pulls up several traffic cam feeds.
The second Sei turns away, Rain's smile vanishes as quickly as it came.
Looking through them, he pulls up footage of Rain's car along with several cars trailing behind her in an almost mechanical fashion.
ArchAngel stays behind, watching intensely as they look over the photos of Rain's phone. In the past few days, she managed to capture photos of almost all the drivers trailing behind her whenever she got home from work, and several of them matched according to her with familiar names and lifespans.
Gintik Hagmay materializes behind them and laughs. "Oh, I get it; she's trying to see the names and faces of all the people stalking her and what roads they take after they finish following her.
Rain leans closer to the monitor to watch the footage. Her face remains emotionless as she observes the recording of her stalks going off in direction directions before circling to continue to follow her. She takes her phone back from ArchAngel and looks over the photos again. Four matches, four stalkers.
Narrowing her eyes, she turns to Sei. "Can you pull up traffic cam from the police station where I work?"
"Sure thing." Sei obeys her orders.
Sei switches to traffic cam footage of Rain leaving the police station. After rewinding a bit, the two of them observe footage of people trailing after Tezuka, Saiko, Murata, and some other officer.
"Follow them," Rain orders, "start with Tezuka."
"Which one is Tezuka?"
"The one in the ugly red car."
"Red is such a beautiful color, Rainy." He strokes her hair. "Especially on you."
"You'll have to thank my father for that." She looks at Gintik Hagmay for the slightest second, her eyes landing on his strawberry-blonde hair.
Gintik Hagmay laughs. "You'll have to thank my parents for that, Rain."
Rain looks back at her boyfriend.
After reviewing the footage for a few more minutes, Rain sighs and pulls herself back. Stiffening her stance, she looks down at her phone before splitting her attention to the screen. Finding whatever she is looking for, she nods. "Thank you. You've certainly earned yourself a reward for tonight, Sei." She leans over and kisses him on the lips. "You know what I like?"
"Hard to forget."
"I'll see you tonight, Sei-Sei."
"Same to you, Rainy." He pauses. "Oh, and, this is just between us, right, pinky swear that no one else will find out that I showed you traffic cam footage?"
Rain reaches into her pocket and pulls out lipgloss. Painting her lips shiny red, she kisses Sei on the face, focusing primarily on his cheeks, mouth, and under his eyes. Pulling back, she wipes the back of her hand against her lips, smearing the lipgloss against the corners of her mouth. "I came here to make out with you, nothing more, nothing less, and the evidence on your face will prove it."
Sei wipes a lip-shaped lipgloss smear off from under his left eye. "I'll wear these as a display of love around the office."
"I wouldn't settle for anything more or anything less. See ya later, Sei-Sei."
"Until the next time it rains, Rain."
Pocketing her phone, she escorts her brothers out of the building.
As Rain climbs in her car, she adjusts her rearview mirror to check on Archer and Angel in the back.
"What do you like, sis?" Archer demands.
Rain sees Gintik Hagmay appear in the middle seat. "I'm sure Papa doesn't want to hear about my sex life."
"You can say that again," Gintik Hagmay nods, looking down.
The Yagami Residence
Kicking her feet up on the kitchen table, Rain leans back in her rocking chair. "Well, that was a very informative meeting. With a few benefits thrown in along the way." She takes a napkin and gently wipes the lipgloss away.
"Rain Yagami," Archer begins, "when did you become a sexually active adult?"
"I'm 22, Archie, remember?" She reaches over and takes a cup of cranberry juice. "I think you're just jealous." She sips her drink. "But let's be jealous at a different time. When someone isn't trying to kill us, then we can kill each other."
"Sounds good," Archer nods. "So then, did you get what you want?"
"I did." Rain produces her phone from her pocket. "The names and faces I snapped on my phone, I saw them again on the traffic cam footage. I now know which ones are the stalkers and which ones are random bystanders."
"What was the whole thing about Tezuka, Murata, and Saiko about?" Angel asks.
"Oh, that, something in the back of my mind was gnawing at my skull, saying that there is something I'm missing. These stalkers appeared almost immediately after the ceasefire was called and now, I've been tailed for the last few days, both day and night. I only noticed them during the night time but traffic footage shows they've been stalking me all day." She tilts her head. "Have you noticed anyone stalking you?"
"No," ArchAngel replies.
"Good, so that means it's just me." Rain takes another sip. "As soon as I saw that it was only me being stalked, an idea occurred to me that Hydra might have inside men in Japan and these stalkers might be those men. As for why I'm being stalked, I have no idea. At first, I thought Hydra someone found out my identity but it wasn't that because Saiko, Tezuka, and Murata were being stalked too, along with that other police officer. That's when it hit me that these people are stalking officers in the police station who are Kira supporters." She sips half of her cranberry juice before placing the cup on the table. "Tezuka, Saiko, Murata, and that other officer are being stalked by these insider stalkers."
Angel looks down at the ground, folding his arms across his chest. "So... if these guys are connected to Hydra, then what is his endgame?"
Rain rubs her chin. "Either he's interested in Japanese reality crime dramas, or he figures that Kira must have allies within the police force and he's trying to gain whatever leverage he can on them. After all, Kira is all about justice and killing criminals and Kira doesn't have complete access to all criminals unless he has access to the NPA. Boom, that's how the five Kira supporters in the NPA ended up on Hydra's radar." She cracks her knuckles.
Archer laughs. "Boy, Hydra does not know that he is screwed." He looks around. "But, if these stalkers are going after us, what could their endgame be?"
Rain looks down at her hands. "Leverage to use against us, to cut off Kira's steady access to the NPA. If I were him, I'd try and look for something dirty on these targets. Somehow..." She looks around. "I'd have spotters all around the house but the traffic footage showed that no one has been following us home. Which means... they're trying to figure out our schedule on the outside of home. Maybe they're gearing up for something but we can't afford to wait around."
"Call a meeting," Archer says with a smile. "Call everyone being stalked to your house. That way, we can get all stalkers in the neighborhood and we can use it against them. We have them follow you here to your house at the same time and then we..."
Rain holds a finger up. "No need to say anymore, bow and arrow boy; I know exactly what you're suggesting." She tilts her head. "Archie, go get my notebook."
"Jesus Christ, you think saying nice would be ane asy thing but no." He shrugs. "Fine, whatever ya say, big sis." He walks off, disappearing in the hallway.
Rain looks at Angel. "What's up?"
"Is there anything you need me to do?"
Rain nods. "Yes. When you get a chance, can you go to the store and pick up some liquor and dinner meats?"
"Barbeque?"
Rain nods slowly. "Exactly."
Angel checks his watch. "I got time right now. Well, as the Spanish say, 'Adios'."
Several minutes later, Archer comes back with Rain's notebook before running off to meet with his brother, where they both drive to the store. As Rain finishes writing in the notebook, she calls several people on her phone.
"Saiko," Rain raises her voice but keeps her facial expression neutral. "How are things going, honey? So, I wanted you to know that I'm having a barbeque and you're invited."
November 14th
Backyard
Pulling several bottles of beer out of an ice pack, Archer opens them for everyone before heading over to the set of chairs arranged around a fire pit in the pool area of their residence.
"I gotta say," Tezuka begins as he sinks into his beach chair. "I gotta start taking more days off."
"Crime never rests, justice never rests," Rain snarks, "And I think that's why justice and crime can be such bitches most of the time." Rain pours herself some cranberry juice.
"You're not one for drinking, Rain?" Saiko asks. "You're an adult; you should indulge, sweetie."
"I'm not used to seeing you drink," Murata admits, "it feels like yesterday, you were a snarky little bratty half-pint."
Rain sips her drink. "Now I know you're drunk because I was never bratty. Snarky little half-pint, yes but bratty, that's just insulting to me." She drinks more of her cranberry juice. "I was hoping and praying that alcohol wouldn't kill your memories of sweet little me."
"You're right; alcohol kills memories."
Saiko chuckles before leaning back in her beach chair. "So, Rain, you and the twins still live with each other?"
"What can I say' we're Siamese twins all but physically." She shakes her head. "No, Siamese triplets. I'm just glad not literally because I hate going to the bathroom after Thing 1 and Thing 2."
The officers chuckle with the fifth one - Watanabe - leaning forward. "What is it your brothers do again?"
"My brother is a voice actor and my other brother is a bouncer by night and bodyguard by day. The best in the biz."
"And the three of you still live together, why? Don't you want your own home, your own bed, your own... toilet or whatever?"
Rain sighs. "Watanabe, man, you make it sound like we live in a one-bedroom apartment; we have two bathrooms." She watches his shocked expression. "And three beds; Jesus Christ; we're not a bunch of incestuous freaks from Texas wielding chainsaws and wearing human skin as masks."
Gintik Hagmay materializes behind Rain. "Man, this is getting boring; when is the good stuff going to happen."
Rain ignores the Shinigami and takes a sip of her cranberry juice once more.
Archer comes by, holding a plate of grilled food. "I hope you guys like France because we're taking a trip to Paris with beef bourguignon." He lays down the plate for the others. "Enjoy and if you wish to thank someone, thank the French for coming up with this delicious-"
CRASH!
The six of them leap out of their seats, putting their drinks down on the side tables before running to the front of the apartment complex.
"What the hell?" Archer yells.
They pause at the curb upon seeing a car crashing involving three vehicles with one of those vehicles being Rain's car.
Angel comes out after them and gasps. "Oh my god!"
The first car - a blue one - has the rear passenger side caved-in with a wheel missing while the second car - an orange one - has the front of the car completely smashed in with the car battery falling out and as for Rain's car, the driver's door was smashed in and the steering wheel was dangling.
"What the fucking hell happened here!" Archer screams at the top of his lungs.
The blue car driver climbs out of his car and rubs a hand nervously through hsi head. "W-what," he says, his voice shaky.
"Bitch," the orange car driver curses as he gets out. "What the fuck is wrong with you."
"You destroyed my car," Rain says simply, her neutral expression remaining. "Oh well; good thing I have insurance. Okay, let's get this over with." Rain takes out her phone to call for an ambulance.
As Teuka, Saiko, and Murata take out their police badges to ask some questions, Rain exchanges insurance info with both drivers. As she writes down information, she activates her Shinigami eyes.
Archer and Angle observe from a distance as they see their sister use their Shinigami eyes on the driver.
Yep, that's her stalker; they think. Now it's our turn.
They move around the crowd and pretend to look at the damage. As they stroll around the orange car, they peek inside and spot a bag of white powder under the driver's seat, barely out of sight.
"Big sissy of rainwater," Archer calls out, "check this out."
Rain steps to the back and peeks through the rear driver's window. She spots the bag. Turning to her stalker, her face remains emotionless as she takes out a pair of handcuffs.
"What?" the stalker demands. "What's with the handcuffs, baby?"
"I knew I smelled shit on you." She cuffs him. "Chiasa Hata, you're under arrest."
"What?" the stalker yells. "What the fuck!" He yanks his hands back before Archer steps in.
Archer puts the stalker in a chokehold and grunts as the other officers step in. Rain steps forward and points to the car.
"Check his car."
The other officers search the back of the stalker's car and find the bag of drugs inside. They help Archer restrain the man and take him away. As the stalker struggles, his phone falls out of his pocket as a notification sound goes off.
Angel picks it up with lightning speed to read a text message aloud against the backdrop of a nude Japanese woman wallpaper.
Unknown: I'm at the dropoff where is my fucking snow bitch? If you don't have my fucking snow in thirty minutes I'm going to break your teeth in.
Rain takes the phone and looks at the stalker. "Drug dealer, are ya?"
"NO!" the stalker panics. "No, I swear; I don't know how those drugs got in my car."
"We're going to take this phone in as evidence; thank you very much. But don't worry; we promise that the boys in the station won't stare too long at your wallpaper."
As they load the stalker into the back of the car, the driver of the other car gets put into a police cruiser after failing a breath analysis test.
Angel exchanges a glance between his siblings and the Shinigami materializing behind them.
Angle's hair and eyes turn white.
Just as planned, Angel thinks. After reading over the instructions in Rain's notebook, it's clear what happened here. After finding out the routes of the stalkers in the traffic cam footage, Rain looked up information on criminals regularly around the stalker's vicinity and used it to her advantage. She has a criminal break into her stalker's car and plants a bag of drugs. Because she opted not to write a stalker's name in the notebook just in case, she had criminals break into the stalker's cars and place the drugs in areas people aren't most likely to look. Confident that at least ONE stalker would show up, she manipulated another criminal into crashing into the stalker's car if he were to see a certain license plate number. Bada bing bada boom, the car accident. Because Rain's car was involved, she gets information on her stalker in the most legal way possible and because she discovered the drugs and a possible drug deal by another criminal she manipulated, she now has a reason to do a background search on him, look up anything shady in his past, and even have full access to his phone.
Somewhere in the darkest corner of his mind, Angel smiles.
A/N: Hello everyone, I have some news: I have one more idea for an arc. I know earlier I said I only have two more arc ideas but I managed to unlock the deepest part of my subconscious and boom: I have an idea for a third arc to conclude this story as a trilogy. Good news, you guys and gals will have one more arc of content. Bad news, it'll be the last arc, period; there will be nothing afterward, even if I came up with another idea down the line. Ugly news... I'm reluctant to write it so I may need your guys' input.
