Welcome back to A Song Of Spiders And Dragons. Last time, Spyro and Cynder finally caught up with Spider-Man after he apparently had a very long night of evictions and hunting for his Spider Drive. But all that was seemingly forgotten when MJ and crew called asking the group to a special ceremony that afternoon honoring Jefferson Davis for his bravery, that also doubles as a campaign ad for Mayor Osborn. But before that, something seems up with Martin Li. So how does it all come together? Let's see if we can't find out...
(Our story resumes on the roof of F.E.A.S.T., where Spyro, Cynder, and Spider-Man are heading back out on patrol. But just as they flip out of there, Spider-Man pulls up their phone line and reveals a message is left)
Spider-Man: Hey, looks like Doc's left a message.
Octavius: Hey, everybody. I don't want to jinx us, but the lead I'm chasing right now might not just get the project back on its feet, but could expand it far beyond the horizons we could have ever dreamed of. I guess everything does happen for a reason, even Norman pulling our plug.
Spyro: I really hope this works out.
Cynder: Same goes for all of us I believe. Doctor Octavius' work is too important to go unfinished.
(After a few minutes of patrolling, the trio stop for a quick rest, and that's when Spyro's phone rings off, it's Jefferson Davis calling.)
Spyro: Hey Jeff. Congrats on the ceremony, dude!
Jefferson Davis: You guys know me, I'll be happy when it's over. A truckload of armed Demons somehow scares me less than public speaking.
Cynder: I get that feeling.
Jefferson Davis: Anyways, this isn't a personal call. Just got word that a bunch of Demons are hitting a Fisk construction site downtown. Rio would kill me if I ditched ceremony prep for a round of cops and robbers.
Spyro: No worries, we're on it.
Spider-Man: And if you need a tip on the public speaking thing, just picture everyone in their underwear. (Rethinks that statement real quick) Well, not Osborn, but... you know what, probably not a good tip.
Jefferson Davis: (Laughs it off) To be honest, the laugh I got from that was helpful in and of itself.
(With that, Jefferson Davis hangs up, still chuckling, as our terrific trio gets to the Fisk construction site, where a van is just driving off as the trio enter the scene)
Spider-Man: (Eyeing the van) Consolidated Shipping?
(But before the wallcrawler can get another word out about it, blue muzzle flashes can be seen erupting from the construction site, and the trio pops in to see what's going down, finding Demons and dead Fisk goons)
Demon: Find the rest, the boss wants them dead.
Cynder: Looks like Jeff was on to something. Demons everywhere, trying to move in on Fisk's territory.
Spider-Man: Should we let him know?
Spyro: We've got this.
(And with that, the group starts sneaking around and taking out all the Demons they can, following their leader to a group of his men, having cornered a Fisk thug)
Fisk Thug: You got what you came for, what more do you want?! You don't need to kill us!
Demon: (Hitting the thug with the butt of his gun) Fisk's territory is ours now. You're just a loose end.
Spider-Man: Not today.
(Without hesitation, the trio jump into action, dodging the Demons left and right, but eventually, they get overwhelmed)
Spider-Man: (Remembering something) Cynder, I think now's the time to show you what upgrades Doc and I built into your vest.
Cynder: Same runes as Spyro's invisibility?
Spider-Man: Go for it.
(With that, Cynder activates the runes hidden in her vest, and soon a giant bubble encapsulates the trio and the Fisk thug, with the Demons' bullets bouncing right off of it)
Spider-Man: Deployable shield, for the win! They can't break through it.
Spyro: (Seeing where this is going) But we can!
(Taking full advantage of this, Spyro unleashes a stream of fire through the shield, taking out the Demons just as it runs out of energy)
Cynder: Perfect timing.
(It seems in all the stress, the Fisk thug has passed out and dropped his phone, but then it starts ringing. Spider-Man, ever curious, answers it, revealing Kingpin is somehow calling this number from prison)
Spider-Man: Fisk?
Kingpin: You?!
Spyro: And here I thought you were only allowed one phone call.
Spider-Man: So, how's prison? Admittedly, the orange works on you. Very slimming.
Kingpin: Stay out of my business.
Cynder: Hold it, while we've got you on the line, the Demons seem to have a personal vendetta against you. As if their leader knows you. Who is it?
Kingpin: Keep my men alive, and maybe I'll tell you.
(And just like that, a helicopter full of Demons flies by, causing Spider-Man to drop the phone in surprise as he slings off to catch up to it)
Spyro: I guess we're doing this then.
(And as the dragons take off to help Spider-Man out, our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good spot to wrap up for now. So, not much intel with what's going on at the ceremony. But now there's more mysteries. Does the Demons' leader know Kingpin? What isn't being said here? Tune in next time as we start piecing things together. Same time... same channel!
