Hello readers and welcome to another new fic, and this one might be my last new one before Christmas, but as most of you know, that might just not be the case, me, and my ideas.

'Aftermath' is still ongoing, but this is one I cooked up with my dear friends Meian16 and Tyroth Darkstorm, and this is the official story and Debut of the newest Mutopians Jun the Tiger and Dahlia the Wolf.

Both characters made cameos in Tyroth Darkstorm's possible future TMNT/Dungeons and Dragons Fanfic 'Regenesis' and they played larger roles in my Fanfics '13 Candles' and 'Aftermath'

I've drawn a couple of pictures featuring them too which you can find on my Deviantart Page 'Dragonheart69' go to my profile to find the link.

In this story, we learn how Jun and Dahlia came to be and who they were before they mutated.

So without further ado, take a seat, grab your popcorn, and lets dive in!

Note: Many characters in this story belong to my good friend and co-writer Tyroth Darkstorm.

Animals We Have Become

Chapter One

It was another normal night in the city of Chicago, the weather was warm, yet a chill flew on the wind as it was almost the end of the summer, but that didn't dampen the moods of those out and about.

In a dark alleyway, two mutants, a male grey Rhino wearing a leather vest and dirty blue jeans and black boots, and a male brown warthog with a mohawk and blue vest jacket and black trousers and boots stood together as they went over the stuff they had salvaged from the surface in an old wheelbarrow.

The Rhino was holding up a couple of items whilst the Warthog looked at a list on a notepad he carried.

It was a regular job for the two of them as they often went topside to look for stuff that would be useful to them and for those below in the hidden underground city of Mutopia.

"Right, let's see, an old radio, check! Two broken toasters, check! An old bicycle, Check! A broken skateboard, Check! Some rolls of fabric from that costume shop, Check! Tania will love those!"

The Warthog ticked off the list then looked up at his companion.

"Okay, I think that's the last of it!"

"Hopefully yes!" the Rhino agreed "I can't believe it, so much stuff people throw away or decide to throw away, and it being in good condition."

"Well at least it's good for us eh Cam?" the Warthog asked.

"For sure Barry." Cam said wiping his brow "Shall we get these back to Mutopia then after we've sorted it, we'll see if we can steal the movie room?"

"Deal!" Barry winked.

Cam picked up the handles of the wheelbarrow and headed to the end of the alleyway where a white van was parked.

"Once again, another good night salvaging!" Barry smiled then looked at his watch "And it's not even ten o clock!" he opened the back doors and helped Cam place the items in the back then both walked to the front and Cam climbed into the driver's seat and started the engine.

"Looking forward to getting all this done then chilling for a bit!" Barry said stretching out his arms and resting back in his seat.

"You and me both mate!" Cam said as he started to drive away back to the Hanger that they always left their vehicles in, as he did, he looked over at the Warthog.

He and Barry had had a very long history, and he knew too well how messy it was before they came to be who they were now.

Both having come from rival gangs and hating each other with a passion, even after they were rescued from death by the Mutopians after their gangs had just left them abandoned after a Gang war, they still had it in for each other and they never stopped trying to kill each other.

If anyone had told them back then that they would be friends, almost like brothers, they never would have believed them, but they had and they couldn't be happier.

After twenty minutes they arrived at the hanger and Cam parked the van in the corner and both mutants got out to get their cargo.

As they did, a gust of wind blew into the hanger as the large door was closing, a few leaves, some empty packets of crisps and other rubbish was blown into the large area.

Amongst it was a large poster that blew towards the van, and it landed on Cam's shoulder making him jump and almost drop the barrow.

"Whoa!" he looked over and Barry almost stumbled.

"You alright Horn-Head?" Barry asked.

Cam looked to his shoulder and saw the poster attached there.

"Whoa man." He said, "I thought someone had hit me, but it was this!"

He peeled off the poster and had a look.

"Wow stone me!" he said.

"What?" Barry asked as he leaned in and he too stared.

It was a large A1 poster with two men wearing black boxing gloves and facing off each other.

One man had a blonde cropped hairstyle and the other had black hair and black stubble.

In the background it showed a boxing ring in a wire cage and in-between the two men was a large white V.

In big letters it read:

'UFC, BLOOD, SWEAT, AND DOLLAR BILLS! GOT WHAT IT TAKES TO BE CHAMPION? OR SIMPLY WANT TO WATCH SOME SERIOUS ACTION?

THEN SHOW YOURSELF 27TH AUGUST, 9PM!'

"A Poster advertising for an Underground Fight club!" he exclaimed "And at the abandoned warehouses near the harbour!"

"I remember those Underground Fights from our human days!" the Rhino said, "I even took part in a few myself!"

"Likewise!" Barry agreed.

"I hate to say, but I sometimes enjoyed watching as well as taking part!" the warthog confessed "Especially when it was good money!"

"That's the reason why they're so popular." Cam said as he stared at the poster then looked at Barry.

"Say, this fights in two days, do you think we could, you know, go and watch from a safe distance?"

Barry's eyes widened.

"You serious man?" he asked.

Cam shrugged.

"Why not? It's been a while since we did something outside of salvaging when topside."

Barry thought for a moment.

It was true what the rhino said, mostly when they went to the surface it was salvaging or reporting back to Old George and Tyroth of any wrong doings in the city if they spotted anything.

They had done other things as well when not working, sometimes they went to some Sports games at the Solider Field Stadium or watched concerts, often from hidden areas where no-one could see them.

Going to this Fight Club was something not too different to what they had done before, and, if they went, they would be able to find out any gang activity or crimes being planned or committed, and they could report back to the Chicago Knights.

"You got a point there, mate!" Barry said, "I think it's a great idea!"

Cam grinned.

"So shall we make a date of it?" he asked holding out his fist to which Barry bumped his own against it.

"You bet!" he said, "But first we better get these things down into the village then we'll talk about it."

"Sounds good to me!" Cam agreed as he picked up the handles of the wheelbarrow and started to roll it towards the doors that would lead to the tunnels to take them back to Mutopia.

Meanwhile, back topside, in a hotel near the Chicago harbour in the Monroe area, looking out over Lake Michigan, a tall African American man with shoulder length black hair tied in a ponytail and brown eyes and dressed in orange cargo pants and a black hoodie with a red bandana tied around his neck walked in, along with a slender white female with long wavy black hair and blue eyes wearing blue jeans and a white cotton blouse along with a blue bandana around her head pushing her hair back.

Both were carrying a couple of large bags, and the woman had a small black handbag on her left shoulder.

"Here we are Alex." The male said with a thick Texas accent, "I know it's not the Ritz, but it's a good place to stay during the tournament!"

The woman smiled.

"Aww Sam," she said with a British accent, yet it slipped into a slightly American accent on certain words "This is perfect! I think we're going to have a great stay here!"

Sam chuckled and they walked up to the reception where a young woman with a blonde hair and wearing glasses smiled at them.

"Good evening!" she said, "Welcome to The Lakeshore Hotel, may I help you?"

"Evening m'am!" Sam said as he placed his ID on the desk "We got a room reserved here? Name's Henry, Samuel Ray Henry."

The woman took the ID and checked the computer.

"Ah yes!" she said, "Mr Samuel Ray Henry and Alexandra Rose Brown."

She typed in the details then handed them a couple of card keys.

"Here you go! Room number thirty-one, and a room with a view!" she added with a wink and a smile.

"Thanks m'am!" Sam replied then turned to Alexandra holding out his arm "Well then, shall we?"

Alexandra nodded and after thanking the receptionist they headed towards the lift to take them to their hotel room.

And that's the first chapter!

Normally when I write fics with mine and Tyroth Darkstorm's characters, I tend to have the Turtles, Monalisa, or the Chicago Knights be the main characters, but this time I thought I'd give Cam and Barry some well deserved time to star!

Fun fact, and this was what Tyroth Darkstorm brought up in his fanfic 'Ancient Legacy' in Chapter sixteen, Cam and Barry are based on the orginal Beebop and Rocksteady from the 80's TV show and are named after their voice actors Cam Clarke and Barry Gordon.

So, Cam and Barry have learnt of an Underground Fight happening soon, and we meet two new characters Sam and Alex! I think you can see where this is heading!

Hope you enjoyed this first chapter! Stay tuned for more coming soon!
