So, WOW, been a while since I've written a fanfic for this show... Let alone an entire AU.
But seeing as the second anniversary of the movie was a week or so ago, I thought it'd be a good as time as any to return to writing fics for the Loud House. Starting with this fic.
I always had the thought of what could have been if we got to see more of Loch Loud, and more of the Louds living in the town? The supernatural elements of the show are things we rarely get to see much of in the actual show. So I thought I'd take my own spin on it by making this fanfic! Enjoy if you can.
When Lincoln had decided to get the family to go on this vacation to Scotland to learn more about his family's history in a bid to find a way to make him stand out amongst his sisters, he never could have predicted this is where it would have led him.
The Louds' ancestors had been royalty! In their own town on the coastlines of Scotland! It had been so exciting when they all had discovered that fact, and was shown more about it by the groundskeeper of their family's castle, Angus.
Things only got better from there. They got a pet dragon they named Lela, helped fix up the town, and best of all... Lincoln was crowned Duke of Loch Loud!
It was probably up there as one of- No, it WAS the greatest moment of his life!
Course, it all wasn't sunshine and rainbows the entire trip... The caretaker, Morag, had made sure of that.
In her hatred and desire to drive them away, Morag used a stone with the ability to control dragons, combined with a staff that it could fit into. She had used it to frame Lincoln for crashing Lela into multiple buildings across town.
The town quickly turned on him and the rest of his family shortly after that. So Lincoln had chosen to give up the crown and leave the town to head back to America with his family. But thanks to Lucille Loud, their ghostly ancestor who had been summoned by Lucy, it was discovered that Morag had orchestrated it all.
After returning to the town, Lincoln and his sisters had a tense fight with the mad woman... Which ended with him watching his family nearly be roasted alive by the mind-controlled Lela. The only reason they had lived was due to Lincoln thinking on his feet, and using the crown Morag desired so much to force her to divert the trail of fire breath away moments before it hit them.
Lincoln lured her to a nearby cliff, and managed to distract her long enough for his little sister, Lily, to grab the Dragonstone out from staff and replace it with a breakfast burrito. The stone was taken care of by a free Lela shortly afterwards, who burnt it to nothing.
Morag, in her blind rage at her clear defeat, tried to rip the crown out from Lincoln's hands... Causing all three of them to fall off the cliff-side. Just when Lincoln and Lily were both ready to accept their fate, Lela swooped in and saved them both (And Morag) before they could hit the ground.
And that's just about where they were right about now. Lela had just landed on the ground, not before tossing Morag into a nearby bush uncaringly. The rest of the Loud family and Angus rushed over to the dragon.
"That was awesome!" Luan said, grinning.
"My babies!" Rita exclaimed, holding her arms out.
Lela lowered her snout, and allowed Lily to slide off it into her mother's arms.
Rita gratefully hugged her youngest daughter, as if she might disappear any moment.
"Oh Lela, we can't thank you enough!" Lynn Sr. claimed, hugging the dragon as he did.
Lincoln slid off Lela, and approached his family, a smile on his face.
"Way to go, Lincoln." Lana smiled back at him, proud of her older brother.
"We love you Lela!" Leni exclaimed.
Lela nuzzled Lincoln softly, before she was hugged by the rest of the Loud sisters, who hugged her lovingly.
Lincoln smiled at the sight, when he noticed a crowd of the town's civilians entering the yard. They were all cheering.
"To the Louds! For saving our home!" Mrs. Turnberry cheered.
"To Lincoln, whom history will remember as the loudest of the Louds!" Angus added.
The crowd all cheers for the Louds once more, even some of the livestock cheered along with them. The family couldn't help but smile widely, Lincoln's the widest of them all.
"We're so sorry we ever doubted you and your family..." Mrs. Scroggins apologized amist the cheering.
Lela growled softly, and lowered her tail to reveal a familiar shiny golden object... It was the crown.
Lincoln's eyes gleamed slightly as he looked at it. It still was as shiny as the day he first laid his fingers upon it.
He could hear the crowd nearby praising and cheering even louder as Lela's tail held the crown out toward the boy.
"Duke Loud, hoo! Duke Loud, ha! Duke Loud, ho ho ho!" The crowd chanted and cheered, their anticipation clear. Lincoln took the crown from Lela's tail, looking at it intently.
He had begun to get mixed feelings about this. On one hand, he felt as if he had only wanted the crown for his own gain... To be special like his sisters. It felt wrong for him to put on the crown again after only using it for that goal...
But, another feeling began to outshine that previous one.
This was Lincoln's chance. He could make up for him using the crown for his own gain! Yeah! He had done so many good things for the town already, he had this Duke thing in the bag! As long as he tried hard enough, he could make the town happy and his family just as, if not even more, proud!
As Lincoln was thinking it over, his family noticed his hesitance.
"Uh Linc? What are you waiting for? Put that baby on already!" Lana exclaimed, a twinge of excitement for her older brother in her tone.
"If you don't, I will." Lola promised, though Lincoln could hear the faint joking tone in her voice.
Lincoln glanced back at the crown once more... Before finally making his choice.
The crowd, Angus, and his family cheered as he put the crown on his head.
"Our Duke is back everyone!" Angus grinned.
"Indeed he is... And it is quite nice to see after so long!" A voice claimed, and the crowd turned to look at the source of it...
They all gasped, the Loud family living up to their name and gasping the loudest. Descending from the sky, was Lucille Loud... But she was followed by 12 other ghosts who all resembled the members of the current Loud family.
"Oh my gosh! It's..." Leni began.
"Literally our ancestors..." Lori finished, shocked.
"Indeed we are!" Luan's ancestor confirmed.
"My younger sister, Lucille, contacted us... And wished for us to assist in helping you against Aggie's descendant." Lynn's ancestor explained. "But it seems as if you had it under control."
"Well, mostly." Lola mumbled under her breath.
Lincoln's ancestor floated down to his descendant, who was still shocked by the arrival of him.
"Wow, it's... It's really you..." Lincoln murmured, in awe of his ancestor's presence.
"Yes, it is my descendant..." Lincoln's ancestor replied, "It's an honor to finally be able to talk to you face to face."
"Really? I thought I'D be the one honored here..." Lincoln remarked, "I mean, you were THE Duke."
His ancestor chuckled. "No, the honor's all mine... I have to say, I'm very proud of how you've run the town in only such a short time of you having the crown. You've managed to fix the town, bring happiness to the people once more, and even saved both from destruction! You're truly fit to wear that crown, just as much as I once was."
Lincoln smiled widely at his ancestor's words, touched.
"Now then... We do have a few things that have to be solved and dealt with." Lucille remarked.
"Like the mostly destroyed town." Lana's ancestor noted.
"The damage to the castle." Lola's ancestor added.
"The deranged woman who is currently attempting to sneak away." Scott deadpanned, pointing a direction.
Everyone looked to see Morag had gotten up, and was attempting to silently make her way out of the yard.
"Agh, so close..." Morag cursed under her breath, before turning with a sheepish grin toward the crowd. "Okay, I'll admit, my actions may have been rash but-"She was cut off as Lela swooped over, grabbed her coat with one of her claws, and began to fly off toward the lake as she yelped and struggled.
"Uhh... What's Lela gonna do with Morag now?" Luna questioned, curious.
"That's up to her, lass. Lela is the true guardian of the Loch. Morag's fate is in her hands..." Angus explained. "...Well, technically claws actually. Dragons don't have hands."
Morag groaned as she felt herself fall onto a hard surface. She dusted herself off, and slowly realized where the dragon had dropped her: A secluded rocky outcrop in the lake... Where barely anything could be heard at all. The former caretaker grinned, believing she had finally gotten what she wanted in a way.
Morag turned to watch Lela begin to fly away back towards the castle, and she laughed mockingly.
"Ha! Jokes on you, you scaly, putrid lummox! You just handed me what I wanted this entire time on a silver platter! Peace and quiet from those loud, irritating, horrid!-"
Her tirade was cut off when she heard a familiar barking sound from behind her. She curiously turned around, and gasped in shock at what laid on the rocks she was on nearby.
A pack of 13 seals... But not just any seals... Ones that looked remarkably like the Louds she wanted nothing more to escape from.
"What?! No!" Morag gasped, shocked by the presence of the seals.
The animals, on the other hand, saw this as a sign to continue barking louder.
The sound of them barking irritated and agonized Morag even more, and all she could do was drop to her knees and clamp her hands over her ears, only being able to shriek one thing.
"NOOOO!" Morag cried out in despair, as the seals began to bark even more, excited by the new visitor to their rocky outcrop.
Meanwhile, back at the castle yard, the crowd had finally stopped cheering, and were now looking toward Lincoln for guidance on the second problem: The damage to both the castle and town.
The boy was silent for a few moments, and paced a bit before gathering his thoughts.
"We're gonna need everyone we can to help rebuild it." Lincoln murmured, looking toward the crowd as he did so.
"Well then, it's settled! Rebuilding begins tomorrow morning!" Angus proclaimed, the crowd cheering in agreement.
Lincoln, his sisters, and parents smiled widely at the sight.
"Wait, hold on, does that mean we have to do construction work?" Lola questioned, as she frowned in realization.
The next few days in Loch Loud were spent repairing the damage caused by the combination of Lincoln's disastrous flight with Lela, and Morag's recent rampage.
It was hard work, but it was worth it in the end. The town had been mostly repaired, and was back to it's former glory... Well, as much glory as it had during the last week or so the Louds had been there.
Lincoln had a great view of the now rebuilt town from the balcony in his room. He'd gotten up early this morning to get a good look at the sun rising over the buildings. His family were still all asleep in their rooms, taking some well deserved extra sleep after all the work they had done helping rebuild the town.
"Wonderful view, isn't it?"
Lincoln jumped a bit, turning to see his ghostly ancestor floating nearby.
"Oh, morning Duke." Lincoln greeted, slightly startled by his appearance.
He was still getting used to the fact multiple ghosts were living in the castle walls with him and his family. Let alone ghosts of their Scottish ancestors who beared a striking resemblance to them. Both in appearance AND voice.
His ancestor chuckled, "There's no need to call me by that title... Lochland is fine."
"Oh... Right, sorry." Lincoln replied, feeling a bit silly for calling his technical family member by such a formal title.
"It is fine. Besides, I'm not the Duke anymore anyways... That is your title now." Lochland smiled.
Lincoln exhaled, with both happiness and nervousness seeped into it. He glanced back at the window towards the rising sun. This was pretty much the beginning of a new chapter in the boy's life. He was now the Duke of an entire town, and that wasn't gonna change anytime soon.
Lincoln wasn't gonna screw it up this time. No one was tricking him this time, he wasn't gonna make any mistakes this time, and he sure as heck was gonna be the best Duke this town had ever seen!
"Alright, this Loud's about to rule..." Lincoln smirked as he turned back to Lochland, having a slight jazz hands gesture "Again!"
Most of this chapter was pretty much setting up the actual story I got planned going forward from this, so stay tuned for that!
