Chapter One

"You sent for me?" Clarke asked Lexa as she entered the commanders tent.

"Yes." Lexa replied looking up from her strategy table. Taking a moment before saying anything further. "Octavia has nothing to fear from me." Taking another breathe and looking away from Clarke "I do trust you."

"I know how hard that is for you." Clarke replied taking step closer to Lexa as they both stare into each others eyes intently.

After what felt like minutes but in reality was seconds past, Lexa turned to face Clarke, taking a step towards her "You think our ways are harsh, but it's how we survive."

Clarke still holding the Commanders intent gaze "Maybe life should be about more then just surviving" Clarke finally broke the eye contact looking down to the strategy table "Don't we deserve better then that?"

Lexa, continue to stare at Clarke, felt so many emotions in that moment. "Maybe we do."

Clarke looked back up to Lexa after the admission of agreeance. Lexa, unable to contain her emotions and feelings any longer, reaches up to cup Clarkes cheek before leaning in and placing her lips on Clarkes.

After a brief second of shock, Clarke returned the kiss, raising her left hand to cup Lexa's hip. Lexa deepened the kiss which Clarke welcomed.

The kiss only lasted a seconds before Clarke pulled back, surprising Lexa.

"I'm sorry…." Clarke said looking Lexa in the eye.

"I'm not ready…" Clarke admitted.

"To be with anyone…" Clarke had a flash of Finn's face.

After looking at Lexa, she knew that she returned the feeling but she needed more time. She softly whispered "Not yet".

Clarke sat up quickly in her bed. Sweat on her face. Heart racing. Breathing heavy. She had the same dream she has had every night since the kiss with the commander. Three months since the kiss and she still saw it every night. That moment was stuck in her head. More so now that she is back in Polis and having to be in the same area as her. Clarke does everything she can to avoid crossing paths with the commander. She still doesn't understand how the Commander could look at her and kiss her with such emotion and feeling but then break her trust to make a deal with the enemy leaving Clarke and her people to fend for themselves. Deep down, she knew the Commander was doing what she needed for her people. But we were supposed to be her people to in this plan. How would she ever be able to trust her again.

As if on queue, there was a knock on the bedroom door summoning her to the throne room at the Commanders request.

"I'll be right there" she responded then removed the blankets to climb out of bed and get ready for the day.

Once she was changed and decent, she left her room heading to the throne room like she every morning since her return to Polis. Every morning, a knock on the door occurred advising her that the Commander requested her presence.

Clarke arrived to the familiar door of the throne room and knocked.

"Enter" was all she heard and knowing it was Lexa's voice.

The guard opened the door to allow Clarke to walk through. She saw Lexa sitting at her throne with Titus to her right and Indra to her left.

"Leave us" Lexa commanded to the everyone in the room which Titus started to protest but Lexa just raised her hand to cut him off. He knew it was a losing battle so he stood up straight, eyeing Clarke, and made his way out of the room following behind Indra.

"Good morning Clarke, did you sleep well?" Lexa asked staring at Clarke sitting on her throne, right leg over her left, hands together in her lap.

"Is there something you needed Commander?" Clarke replied with a change in tone as she said Commander.

Lexa shifted in her seat. If anyone else addressed her as so, they would be punished for showing her disrespect. But this was Clarke. She was different. She had every right to act the way she was. Lexa knew she hurt her and betrayed her. But she did what she had to. She will always be Commander before anything else. She just needed to Clarke to see that she wants to work towards a world where that title won't cost her those decisions that cause betrayal.

"Clarke, we need to speak about what happened so we can move forward." Lexa stated staring intently to Clarke.

"I ask again Commander, is there something you wanted from me?" Clarke, not in the mood for any small talk just wanted to get to the point.

Every day, she shows up to the throne room for Lexa to ask her how she was, how she felt, if her accommodations were to her liking, and so on. And every day Clarke asked the same question. When Lexa wielded no real questions, Clarke would turn on her feet and head back to her room with a defeated Lexa staring after her. But this morning was different.

"Clarke I have tried to work with you and do this the nice way but you are leaving me no other choice then to enforce my Commander duties. You won't talk to me." Lexa stared at Clarke waiting for a response when it was evident she wouldn't get a response from the Wanheda, she continued.

"I want the Skaikru to join my coalition and be initiated in as my 13th clan with you as the leader and your own selected council."

"Why would I ever join you? You're a liar and have shown me your betrayal." Clarke replied gritting her teeth taking everything in her not to attack the Commander knowing that no one would know unless the Commander said. But at this point, she didn't care if her attack caused her death. Her anger and hurt clouded her judgement.

Clarke took a step forward keeping her stare on the Commander.

"You showed me that you are a coward. You asked me what would I have done, I would have found another way! Knowing what we knew and the armory we had behind us. I would have kept my promise to you Commander to work with you to get OUR people out. But you just took the deal. With no care in the world. You looked in my face, in front of my people that put their trust in me after putting my trust in you, and you told me that my people didn't matter to you. What if we get in to another war. How would I know that you protect my people alongside yours and not leave them to die? I wouldn't. But you know what. We didn't need you anyway. I got my people out on my own. I may have killed innocent people and children to do it but I was left with no choice." Clarke didn't when her feet started moving but she was not standing at the base of the steps that lead up to the Lexa sitting on her throne. She also didn't know at what point she had tears start falling down her cheek. "Trust you? I don't think I could ever trust you again. For myself…. Or my people."

Lexa stared at Clarke. She couldn't bare the site in front of her. How much she broke the fearless woman that she had grown to love. She knew when she said 'for myself' that she meant she couldn't trust her with her heart. Lexa knew they get past this. After walking away from Clarke that night and doing what she thought she had to, she vowed to herself that she would never walk away from Clarke again.

"Nothing to say now Commander?" Clarke stood there staring intently waiting for a response from the Commander. When she realized she wasn't going to get one, Clarke huffed with a sly smirk that showed a look of shame towards the brunette and turned to walk away.

Just as Clarke reached the door and was about to pull it open Lexa spoke up.

"Your right"

I just recently watched this show and loved the story line that I saw being created for Clarke and Lexa. I was devastated to find out that they don't get a chance to fight for their love. I did research and found that Lexa was killed off due to the actress (whom I love) decided to take on a new show. This is my thoughts on what may have happened if Lexa didn't die. Please let me know what you think and leave a review!
