Hi everyone! PrimroseRaspberry here with an all-new fanfic. Before you start reading it, however, there's something about it that you'll need to know: this story is technically a crossover with the show "My Big Big Friend," which doesn't have a category on this site yet—hence why it's in here. I don't own the show or "Miraculous," but I do really love them, which is why I'm writing this story.
Now, what inspired me to write this story was noticing some personality traits of Sabrina from "Miraculous" are similar to the personality traits of some of the Big Big Friends. Also, due to me first deciding to write it before watching most of Season 5 (though it took me a long time to get to it because of some other fanfics of mine that were already in progress), the story is set between the episodes "Penalteam" and "Risk." But don't worry; I'll try to make the story follow what's canon as best as I can ;)
That's basically all I have to say here. I hope you enjoy the story!
Chapter 1
A plane touched down on one of the many landing pads at the Paris airport, at 8:19 AM on a beautiful sunny Monday. Once it was parked next to the right building, all the passengers made their way out of the vehicle and into the airport.
Among these passengers were a trio of mothers, each of whom was accompanied by a young child—two boys and one girl, to be precise. The boys were 7-year-old Matt and 5-year-old Yuri, and the girl was 6-year-old Lili. They had come to this city all the way from Brazil, each pair on a special mother-and-child trip that they'd decided to spend with their friends as well as each other.
But what the mothers didn't know was that they and their kids hadn't come to Paris alone. Three magical animals from the enchanted hard-to-access kingdom of Cabliftia that were only visible and audible to each other and the three children had come with them as well: a green kangaroo named Bongo, a blue elephant named Golias, and a pink giraffe named Nessa. They were the kids' "Big Big Friends," who accompanied the kids everywhere they went for two reasons.
The first reason, a secret that only Golias was aware of, was to make sure the kids grew up as nice people despite having strong personalities that clashed against each other a lot these days, and the second one was because, well…as time had gone on, the Big Big Friends had each become the best friend of the kid they were to spend 24/7 with. In fact, they'd bonded with their respective best friends so much that, whenever the rare moment when one of the kids wanted to be alone came along, they'd be very sad. It was especially bad for Golias and Nessa, who, as much as they didn't realize it due to, like Bongo, having innocent child-like minds, each had a case of emotional dependency. Nessa had been separated from Lili only once, and she never wanted to feel as devastated as she had felt as a result ever again, and Golias—who had never been separated from Yuri at all—had this condition to such a point that even his best friend refusing to cry ever again could set him off. He just felt that if Yuri never cried again, he wouldn't need him anymore, which he didn't realize was far from the truth.
Anyway, Matt, Yuri, Lili, and their mothers and Big Big Friends went to the baggage carousel, where the mothers collected their luggage before leading the way out of the airport. Once they were outside, they waited for a taxi to come to pick them up and take them to the Le Grand Paris Hotel, where they would be staying for the week.
"Ooh, I can't wait to see what our hotel's gonna look like!" Nessa said, looking at her surroundings in excitement.
Lili chuckled. "Me neither. It'll be so much fun!"
Since Matt, Yuri, and Lili were the only humans who could see and hear the Big Big Friends, their mothers, along with their fathers and Matt's big sister, thought that the trio of animals were just imaginary. But they weren't, and neither were their scenery-changing powers. That's right—the Big Big Friends had the power to change the layout of the scenery around them—a power that was frequently used to teach the kids lessons—and ever since the day they'd first met the kids, the latter three had had the power too. Lili had just really wanted to be able to "bring her friends to other places," and when the boys had agreed with her, Nessa had used a magic incantation to duplicate her powers and transfer the duplicates to the kids. However, while the transferring had worked, it had also placed cracks in the Big Big Friends and the kids' control of their powers, causing the powers to sometimes be activated on their own. Yet none of the six friends saw this as a problem, and they continued going on adventures with their scenery-altering powers without any worries.
The taxi eventually arrived and parked in front of the mothers. Yuri's mother opened the door to the back seat and entered the vehicle through there, followed closely by Matt's mother, Lili's, and the kids themselves, the latter three sitting on their laps of their respective mothers once they sat down. As for the Big Big Friends, seeing as there was no room for them in the back seat, Bongo lifted Nessa through the window of the seat next to the cab driver before bouncing onto the taxi's roof. Golias, meanwhile, being too big and heavy to fit inside or on top of the cab, chose to do what he always did in situations like this: stay outside the vehicle and chase after it until it arrived at its destination.
"Where to?" asked the driver of the taxi.
"The Le Grand Paris Hotel, please," answered Yuri's mother. "But first, I think we'd better stop at the bank so we can pay you."
"Ah," said the driver, smiling. "Came here for a vacation, I'm guessing?"
"A mother-and-son vacation," said Matt's mother. "Or in June's case, a mother-and-daughter vacation."
"Cool," said the driver. "I'd be happy to take you where you need to be."
And with that, as soon as everyone in the back seat had their seatbelts on, the driver started the engine and began driving them to the bank of Paris. As she did this, Golias chased after them until they stopped in front of a red traffic light, where he stopped as well. Once he stopped, he sat down, gasping for breath…and then flinched. Someone else was standing on the sidewalk next to him, holding her knees and also trying to catch her breath. A teenage human girl with short orange hair pulled back by a white headband, green eyes, a white shirt with a dark purple vest that had a black bow on its collar overtop of it, cyan shorts, brown tights, and white shoes. There was a large black suitcase sitting next to her, but he barely noticed it. His gaze was completely fixed on the girl herself. He was pretty sure he recognized her from somewhere…
But just as Golias was about to let the girl know he was there, the traffic light turned green, and the taxi and the black limousine in front of it began moving forward again. As soon as this happened, the girl grabbed the suitcase and began running after the limousine as it turned a corner.
Was she running after the limousine for the same reason as he was running after the taxi? Or was she trying to catch up to it because she needed to get inside the vehicle? Golias was tempted to look into this, but at the same time, he couldn't leave Yuri. Not even if it was because of a girl he was pretty sure he'd seen before. So, trying hard not to think about what he'd just seen, he continued running after the taxi as, unlike the limousine, it continued heading straight.
The taxi arrived at the Le Grand Paris Hotel at 9:00. Once there, Yuri's mother wasted no time in paying the driver, before leaving the vehicle with everyone else that had been seated in the back seat. At the same time, Nessa used her teeth to open her door (which only the kids actually saw, as the mothers were busy getting their luggage out of the trunk) and then stepped out, while Bongo bounced off the taxi's roof and onto the ground. He then watched as Nessa kicked the door shut, and as Golias, with some difficulty, finally managed to catch his breath after a very long sprint.
"Alright! We're here, we're here!" Bongo exclaimed. "I'm so excited! I just hope the ceilings aren't too low. 'Cause low ceilings are awful awful!"
Matt laughed. "Don't worry, Bongo. I'm sure the ceilings will be very high."
"Yeah yeah yeah!" Bongo shouted, bouncing up and down in excitement. He'd always been afraid of low ceilings, because with those around, it was very hard to bounce. And if there was one thing Bongo loved doing more than anything else, it was bouncing.
The mothers finished getting their luggage out of the trunk and then waved to the taxi driver as she drove away. When she was gone, Matt's mother entered the hotel and returned five seconds later with a man who had short light grey hair and a sharp suit, with a red, white, and blue striped sash over it. "Hello, newcomers!" he said. "I'm André Bourgeois, the mayor of Paris and the owner of this hotel. How long are you planning to stay here?"
"A week," answered Lili's mother.
"Splendid! I'll help you bring all your luggage up to your suite," said the mayor. He went back inside the hotel and returned with a large gold luggage cart. Then he helped the mothers place all of their luggage onto it, while the kids observed their Big Big Friends, who were watching the scene in excitement. Within seconds, all the luggage was on the cart, and the mothers beckoned for their kids to follow them as they entered the hotel together. The kids obeyed, but once they got to the elevator, they had to tell the Big Big Friends to wait for them in the lobby, since there wasn't enough room for them in the elevator as long as the luggage cart and four adults were inside it.
"We'll come back to you as soon as our luggage is in our room," promised Lili.
"Okay, but try not to be gone for too long," said Nessa.
"We won't be gone for too long," Lili assured her. "Don't worry."
She gave her Big Big Friend a hug, which made Nessa smile. After that, she released her and followed Matt and Yuri into the elevator.
Once the doors closed, Golias turned to Nessa and Bongo and asked, "Do you think anyone else we know is in Paris too?"
"I don't know," replied Bongo. "Probably not. As far as we know, everyone else we know is back in Brasília."
"I wasn't just talking about everyone else we know from Brasília," said Golias. "'Cause, um…more than ten years before we left Cabliftia to watch over Yuri, Matt, and Lili…I had a best friend. Not Yuri, but a different best friend."
Nessa looked at him in surprise. "A different best friend?"
"Who was it? Who was it?" Bongo asked.
"It was another human," answered Golias. "Her name was Sabrina, and when I was little, she lived in Cabliftia for a while with her mom and dad. It was funny. Her mom was a big big animal like us, but her dad was a human! We were the bestest friends ever…until a year after we met. Her mom and dad decided they didn't love each other anymore, and Sabrina and her dad went away. I wanted to go with them, but her dad said no. I never found out where they went, and I forgot about them when we were told to start spending time with Yuri, Matt, and Lili. But today, while we were on our way here, I saw a teenager that looked a lot like her."
"You did?" Nessa inquired, shocked. "Was it really her?"
"I don't know. There wasn't enough time to find out for sure…but it looked a lot like her."
"You should try to find her again, Golias!" Bongo said. "Maybe it's her! Maybe she'll still wanna play with you! Maybe she'll wanna play with all of us!"
Golias smiled in excitement. "You really think she'll wanna play with me again?"
"Yeah!" Bongo told him. "But the only way you'll know for sure is if you go out looking for her."
"Oh…I don't think I can do that," said Golias. "I mean, I would, but I can't just leave Yuri all alone!"
"Yeah, that's right," agreed Nessa. "Who's gonna stay with him all the time and make him laugh if you're not with us?"
Bongo nodded. "You're Yuri's best friend! Which means you always have to stay with him! Even if Sabrina's probably close by."
"Yeah," Golias told them. He sighed. "I do love Yuri…but I also really wanna see Sabrina again…" Then he gasped and did a gesture with one of his hand-like ears; sort of like when a human points their index finger upward. "I know! Let's all look for Sabrina together!"
Nessa and Bongo both nodded vigorously in agreement. The trio then stood there, waiting for their best friends and their mothers to return. They eventually did, and Golias told the kids everything he'd told the other Big Big Friends. When he was finished, Matt told his mother that he'd noticed a teenage girl chasing after a limousine, and asked, "Can we go find her and make sure she's okay?"
"I'm sorry," his mother replied, "but today's a Monday. If you saw a teenage girl, she was probably running because she was late for school. And I don't think interrupting her time at school would be the right thing to do, even if it's just to make sure she's okay."
"Oh, but I really wanna see Sabrina," moaned Golias. "There's gotta be something we can do!"
"How about we wait until school's over and then go find her?" Lili suggested.
The mothers looked at each other, unsure of what to say. Lili's idea was a good one, and they were glad their kids were being considerate of another person's wellbeing, but they didn't want to cause the girl to feel awkward, nor did they feel up for letting them talk to any strangers that weren't simply there to help make their vacation a good one. You never knew when someone could turn out to mean you harm…
Matt put his hands together and said, "Please?" Lili nodded in agreement, but Yuri just stood there and made no attempt to agree with his friends. Unlike them, he didn't want to go looking for Sabrina. The fact that she used to be Golias's best friend wasn't exactly pleasant to him. In fact, he wouldn't admit it, but that fact was making him a little…jealous. He was Golias's best friend, not some girl that the elephant had never talked about until today!
It took a few seconds, but eventually, the mothers caved in. "Alright," said Lili's mother, "we'll wait until the schools here let out and then we'll see if we can find the girl. Until then, Mayor Bourgeois mentioned a place where children usually go to have fun. It's called Place Des Vosges. How about we go check it out?"
"Sure," the kids—this time including Yuri—said in unison. The Big Big Friends nodded in agreement, even though only the kids could actually see and hear them, and then the group left the hotel and went outside. Next, they walked to the right place, which was several blocks away from the hotel, yet not too far for their feet to handle.
Once they arrived at Place Des Vosges, they could see a woman, a man, and two more kids—both of whom appeared to be somewhere around Yuri's age—were already at the glorious space. The adults were sitting on a bench nearby while the two kids in question were standing near the merry-go-round that was in the area, playing a game of Catch. They were at first completely unaware of the new arrivals' presence, but after one of the kids involved in the game of Catch accidentally threw the ball too hard, causing it to sail over the head of her friend and into the arms of Matt, she quickly said, "Oopsie! I'm super duper sorry!"
"It's okay," Matt told the girl as she came up to him and retrieved her ball. "Sometimes it happens when I play Catch too."
"Oh. Okay," said the girl. She smiled, pointing to herself and then to the child she'd been playing Catch with. "I'm Manon, and that's my friend Chris. We don't have school today, so Mommy and Chris's daddy said we could come here and have fun!"
"That sounds great!" Lili said. "We don't have school for all of this week because we're on vacation."
"Vacation?" Chris asked, surprised but delighted to hear that. "That's so cool! Where are you from?"
"We're from Brasília," said Matt, after pausing for a moment to give Yuri a chance to reply in his place. A chance that Yuri, being very shy unlike his outgoing friends, chose not to take.
"Brasília?" Manon replied. "Is that in Brazil?"
"Of course it is," declared Lili. "In fact, it's the most important city in Brazil."
"Cool," said Chris, smiling. "So, what are your names?"
"I'm Matt, and these are my friends Bongo, Yuri, Lili, Golias, and Nessa," said Matt, pointing to each of his friends as he spoke. As he said their names, he wasn't expecting Manon or Chris to not see the Big Big Friends, but that was precisely what happened.
"Uh…are Bongo, Golias, and Nessa invisible?" Manon asked.
"No they're not," said Lili.
"Then why can't I see them?"
"And why can't I see them?" inquired Chris.
"I'm not sure," answered Matt. "But they're there, and they wanna play with us."
"Oh." Then Manon smiled. "What do you wanna play?"
"How about we all go on the merry-go-round?" suggested Chris. "That's something fun."
"Sure," said Matt. "Come on guys!"
So, while the mothers went over to sit on a bench with the other present adults, Manon and Chris led the others toward the merry-go-round. Once there, Manon climbed onto a wooden white horse, Chris climbed onto a wooden plane, Matt climbed onto a wooden submarine, and Yuri and Lili both climbed onto a wooden ladybug-like seat. Then, since there was a large space between the plane and the ladybug-like seat, Bongo bounced into that space and struck a pose, pretending to be part of the merry-go-round and succeeding in making Matt laugh by doing so. Next, Nessa skipped behind Bongo, while Golias, being too big to fit onto the ride, used his trunk to clasp the edge of its floor and then walked around in circles, making the merry-go-round slowly but surely move.
"Woo-hoo!" Manon cheered, pumping her fists into the air. "This is super duper fun!"
"Yeah!" Yuri agreed, laughing with pleasure.
Hours went by, and the kids and their Big Big Friends spent that time having fun with each other and Manon and Chris. They were eventually joined by Ella and Etta, a pair of twin sisters who were friends with the latter two, and their mother, which only added to the fun everyone was having. However, as the time went by, Yuri found himself gradually becoming more comfortable in his new friends' presence, and by noon, he, Matt, and Lili were spending more time playing with their new friends from Paris than with their Big Big Friends. Golias was alright with this because the last time something like this had happened to him, Yuri had steered him away from his sadness by leaving the talking elephant puppets he'd been playing with and reassuring him that he would be his best friend forever and ever. But Nessa and Bongo, who were both entirely new to this type of situation, were feeling ignored by their best friends—and as a result, she was sad, and he was desperate to get his friends' attention.
"Matt! Hey Matt! Look at me!" Bongo called, bouncing up and down like crazy.
Matt, along with Yuri and Lili, then turned to face him, and he leapt on top of the merry-go-round's plane, put his arms out in front of him, and made some spitting noises, pretending to fly the plane. That got a laugh out of Matt, Yuri, and Lili, but the other kids, not being able to see the Big Big Friends, simply looked on in confusion.
"Bongo's pretending to drive the plane," Matt explained through his laughter. "It's really funny!"
"Are you sure those invisible friends aren't akumatized?" Ella asked.
"Yeah," said Etta. "Our big sister Alya told us that, one time, Shadow Moth turned someone into an invisible villain!"
Matt, Yuri, and Lili, who, in all the fun, hadn't been told about Shadow Moth or Ladybug and Cat Noir, eyed the twins in confusion. "What's 'akumatized?'" Yuri asked.
"And who's Shadow Moth?" inquired Matt, with only him, Yuri, and Lili being aware of Nessa asking the same question at the same time as he did.
"Shadow Moth is a bad man with the power to turn people into baddies," explained Manon. "He wants to get some jewels called Miraculouses from the superheroes here, Ladybug and Cat Noir. But he never wins."
"'Cause Ladybug and Cat Noir always save the day," added Chris.
"Ohhh," Matt, Yuri, Lili, and the Big Big Friends said in unison. Then Lili stated, "Well I can tell you for sure that Nessa, Golias, and Bongo are not akumatized. They have nothing to do with Shadow Moth, or Ladybug and Cat Noir! They're just friends that you can't see."
Overhearing the kids' conversation, Matt's mother turned to Manon's mother and asked, "Is that true? Is there really a…supervillain here?"
"Unfortunately, yes," said Manon's mother. "But don't worry. If anything happens, Ladybug and Cat Noir will come and save us. They're really good at ridding Paris of akumatized villains."
"Oh," replied Matt's mother.
"So…is it safe to be here?" Yuri's mother inquired.
"Of course it is," assured Chris's father. "There's never been a problem that Ladybug and Cat Noir couldn't handle. As long as they're here, we'll be fine."
So the mothers—well, gradually—decided not to leave the city and choose another place to spend their 7-day vacation. Instead, they chose to stay put, and watch as their kids continued to play with their new friends nearby.
Eventually 4:30 came, and class time at Collège Françoise Dupont ended for the day. All the students filed out of the building, where a black limousine was waiting for one particular student: Chloe Bourgeois, the meanest student in the building.
When she and her best friend/minion, Sabrina Raincomprix, came out of their school, Chloe wasted no time in getting inside her limo and then closing the door behind her. Her limo driver then took off down the street, and as always, her best friend/minion took off running after it.
As she ran, Sabrina didn't think what many people in her class would probably have thought about the scenario: the question of how she was still friends with Chloe after all the things she'd made her do, including running after her limo all the way to the hotel run by Chloe's dad. Instead, she thought about how awesome Chloe was, and that running after her limo and doing her best friend's homework as well as her own would earn her a beautiful hat, or a beautiful dress, or a beautiful brooch or something absolutely gorgeous. The kinds of thoughts that would have shocked the rest of Sabrina's class had they known about them.
The limo kept going forward, and so did Sabrina, as fast as she could. Running after Chloe's limo wasn't exactly the easiest thing to do, especially when it picked up speed after leaving the school grounds. But she kept at it regardless of that, knowing what sorts of rewards would be waiting for her if she persevered.
Eventually the limo started driving past Place Des Vosges, where the kids and the Big Big Friends were still playing together, with the kids being supervised by their present parents. And then, as they were playing, Golias happened to glance to his right…and then he flinched and looked in that direction again, this time for a slightly longer period of time. There was Sabrina, chasing after the limo again. At least, he hoped it was Sabrina. He still didn't know for sure. There was only one way to find out for sure whether or not it was her. So, quickly so that he wouldn't lose sight of her again, the elephant rushed toward the teenage girl and called, "Sabrina? Is that you?"
Sabrina turned to see where that voice had come from—and got so caught off guard, she stopped in her tracks. Ordinarily, no human other than Matt, Yuri, and Lili was able to see or hear the Big Big Friends. However, since Sabrina's mother was a resident of Cabliftia, she'd been born with the ability to see and hear any magical animal, including Golias and the other Big Big Friends. So that was why she'd been able to formulate a friendship with him, and could still see and hear him.
Seeing a look of recognition appear in Sabrina's eyes, Golias gasped in excitement. It was Sabrina! And she still remembered him! Oh, this great day just kept getting better and better.
Unfortunately, what didn't stop once Golias called out Sabrina's name was Chloe's limousine. Not being someone who could see and hear the Big Big Friends due to her parents both being ordinary humans and not being a chosen child like Matt, Yuri, and Lili, all Chloe saw were the kids playing together (supervised by their parents of course) and Sabrina stopping, presumably going insane from shortness of breath. Not that Chloe cared. After all, the whole point of making Sabrina run after her limousine—not that Sabrina was aware of it—was to watch her suffer. The farther ahead of her minion the vehicle got, the more her minion would have to suffer from trying to catch up to it.
Meanwhile, Sabrina could indeed see a round blue elephant that had by now reached his adult years coming towards her. Yet she still recognized him all too well. She had never seen the giraffe and the kangaroo before, but that wasn't important. She had a limo to catch up to, and homework to get done. She could reconnect with her old best friend later, when Chloe wasn't around. So, without any second thoughts and without taking any time to catch her breath, Sabrina continued dashing after Chloe's limo.
"No, wait! I can help you catch up to that long car!"
And before Sabrina had a chance to protest, Golias, forgetting about Yuri for the first time in forever, ran over to her and scooped her up with his trunk. He then placed her on top of his head, stepped onto the road, and ran after the limousine, which was easier for him to do because he had four legs.
"No…Golias, you…you don't have to do that…" Sabrina gasped, her breathing still heavy.
"Golias! Wait!" Yuri cried, looking away from the skipping game he was playing with the other kids and seeing his best friend leaving Place Des Vosges with a teenage girl he'd never seen before. What was Golias doing? He'd never just left his side before…then a thought struck the boy. Was that teenage girl…Sabrina?
Instantly Yuri's jealousy returned. Golias was his best friend. Not Sabrina's. He had to stop her from stealing his best friend from him! So, quickly, he abandoned the skipping game he'd been playing with his friends and raced after Golias.
"Yuri, wait! Where are you going?" his mother called.
"I'm just gonna go stop Golias!" Yuri told her. He then raced onto the road, hoping to pursue his best friend. Unfortunately, because he didn't stay on the sidewalk, his mother raced over and pulled him back into Place Des Vosges.
"Mom, stop! I've gotta find Golias!"
"Yuri, it's not safe to just run onto the road like that! Come on, we're going back to the hotel."
"But, but—"
"I'm sorry, but I can't not punish you for running onto the road. What if a car or something had come while you were there? You could have been hurt really badly!"
Sighing sadly, Yuri apologized to his mother, and allowed her to take him back to the Le Grand Paris Hotel. "Yup," said Lili, matter-of-factly, "that's just what happens when you get on the road without looking around first."
As for Matt, Bongo, and Nessa, they paused their game and sadly watched Yuri and his mother go. Seeing Matt looking sad, Chris asked, "Wanna go back to the hotel with them?"
"I don't think that's such a good idea, Chris," advised his father. "Matt and Lili can go back if their mothers are okay with it, but I think you, Manon, and the twins should stay here."
"Aw, but Yuri's sad!" Manon said. "Can we please go back with him? Please?" She then eyed her mother with what she called the "baby doll eyes," in the hopes of convincing her to take her to find Yuri. Sadly, her mother was used to her daughter's persuasiveness, and she was able to resist Manon's actions and say no.
"Well I wanna go back to the hotel, even if you guys can't," said Matt. "What about you, Lili?"
"Oh, okay," sighed Lili. "Manon, Chris, Ella, Etta, I hope we'll see you again tomorrow."
"Me too," said Chris. "Bye!"
Golias caught up to the limousine within a minute, still with Sabrina on top of his head. "Golias, please," the girl told him, having fully caught her breath by this point, "you don't have to do this!"
"But I wanna do this," he told her. "Helping each other is what friends do!"
"But Chloe's my BFF now! If she sees me being given a ride instead of me running after her limousine, she's going to be really mad!"
"What's a BFF?"
"A best friend forever. Now please, just put me down!"
But Golias didn't obey her, nor did he feel sad about Sabrina having a new best friend (he had a new one too after all). Instead, he continued running forward, hollering, "Stop, car, stop!"
However, the limo didn't stop, so Golias quickened his pace, got next to the vehicle, and used his trunk to knock on the closest window; the window Chloe was sitting next to. Hearing the noise, she looked out the window, and when she saw what appeared to be Sabrina hovering very high in the air in front of her, riding on an invisible force that was chasing after her, she gasped in surprise and fear. "There's an akumatized villain after me! Drive faster! Drive faster!"
"I can't drive faster, Miss Chloe," said the limo driver. "That would mean breaking the speed limit!"
"Seriously? Have you forgotten who I am? Drive faster, or else you're fired once we get home!"
"Miss Chloe, I can't drive faster or else we might crash! And I know you don't want that to happen!"
Golias then did something very dangerous: using his trunk, he pulled open the door next to Chloe, and then, while still running after the limo, placed his trunk on the floor of the vehicle and shook for a second, causing Sabrina to slide down his face, across his trunk, and into the limo.
"Golias, I'm not supposed to be in Chloe's limo!" Sabrina told him. "I'm supposed to run after it until it gets to her hotel!"
"But running after a car sounds like it could make you really tired," said Golias. "Wouldn't you rather sit in it with your new best friend?"
"Golias?!" Chloe shrilled, unknowingly at the exact same time as the elephant spoke. Turning to Sabrina, she suspiciously inquired, "Do you know who or what just put you inside my limo?"
"I do," admitted Sabrina. "He's Golias, my best friend until I moved to Paris and met you."
"Well then tell that so-called best friend of yours to leave you alone!" barked Chloe.
Sabrina flinched. "I can't do that to Golias!"
Chloe smiled sinisterly at her. "Do it, and I'll let you ride with me the rest of the way to Daddy's hotel. And if you make sure he doesn't come back, I'll give you the sparkliest brooch I have before you get started on my homework."
"Ooh, that sounds wonderful…!" Then the full reality of the situation dawned on Sabrina, and her smile disappeared. Golias had never once tried to be mean to her, and she knew that he'd only put her into Chloe's limo to try and help her. It really stung that she now had no choice but to end her friendship with him. But at the same time, riding with Chloe the rest of the way to the hotel and receiving Chloe's most sparkly brooch was a reward she really really wanted…
So, holding back the mercy she felt for him so as not to disappoint Chloe, Sabrina turned to face the elephant and said, "You know what, Golias? I'm done being your best friend. I'm done being your friend to begin with! Chloe is my best friend now, which means I'll never want to be with you again. Now, go away, and don't ever come back!"
Golias gasped in shock and stopped in his tracks the moment he heard those words. Sabrina had just…told him to go away. That wasn't very nice…and it made him feel so sad!
A lump formed in his throat as he watched the limousine drive away, and before he knew it, tears were pouring from his eyes. Why did Sabrina listen to Chloe and say that to him? Why had she acted so…mean? Did she realize how much she'd hurt his feelings? She hadn't really meant what she'd said, had she? Oh, but something told him that she had meant it…
Whimpering, Golias stepped onto the sidewalk and sat on it, his body drooping in sadness. He was tempted to go back to Place Des Vosges and reunite with Yuri, but he felt too sad to take another step. Yuri would have to go out looking for him. He'd done it before and succeeded in finding him in seconds, so why should this occasion be any different?
But seconds turned to minutes, and Yuri never came, which caused the poor elephant to wonder if the boy had become so focused on playing with his new friends and the rest of his old friends that he'd forgotten all about him. A thought that only added to his sadness.
Golias wiped away his tears, but more continued to leave his eyes. As they did, he saw something through the corner of his eye and looked up. There, descending from the sky, was a black and purple butterfly, which was heading straight for him.
"Oh, hi Mr. Butterfly," he said to it. "I'm Golias. What's your name?"
The butterfly didn't answer him. Instead, it continued to fly closer and closer to him, until it was an inch away from his front right foot. Then it touched and phased into a pebble that happened to be next to that foot, and Golias flinched as a bright purple butterfly-shaped outline appeared in front of his eyes, along with a man wearing a light grey mask over his face, with a purple circle around his left eye.
"Miserphant," the man said, "I am Shadow Moth."
Shadow Moth? Oh no, the bad man with the power to turn people into baddies had found him! Quickly, Golias got up and tried to run away. Unfortunately, no matter where he went or how fast he ran, the man stayed face-to-face with him, a creepy smile on his face.
"No need to be afraid," Shadow Moth told him. "I can sense that your best friends have both left you for someone else. I'm here to become the one best friend who will never leave your side, and to give you the power to show your former best friends how it feels to be abandoned. All I ask for in return is for you to bring me Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous."
Golias eyed him nervously. "You…you really wanna be my best friend?"
"Of course I do. But it'll only be official if you accept my offer."
Wiping a tear from his eye, Golias thought about what the man was telling him. Manon had said he was a bad man, but did bad men offer to help people who were feeling sad? No, they didn't. All baddies cared about were themselves. So that meant Manon had been wrong about Shadow Moth—which meant he could trust him.
And just like that, a change occurred within Golias. The moment he realized he could trust Shadow Moth, his regard for the wellbeing of his friends slipped away, and was replaced by a wave of malice and anger at Yuri and Sabrina. They had made a big big mistake abandoning him—and they were going to pay for it.
Smiling sinisterly, the elephant replied, "I accept your offer, Shadow Moth."
The man smiled sinisterly back, and then disappeared from sight as a large amount of black and purple smoke appeared, engulfing Golias within itself as he used his trunk to pick up the infected pebble.
Oh dear—Golias has been akumatized! What will happen now? Only time will tell…so brace yourselves for the upcoming Chapter 2!
