Catching a new pokemon to help him out, Davis and Cletus search for Imperialdramon. Unbeknownst to them, they are about to have an encounter that they won't forget.

Davis, Cletus, and Krookodile continue searching for Imperialdramon while Davis' new Bluja flew around the air to try and find Imperialdramon. As they were searching around for him, Krookodile sensed something that it found to be troubling.

"Krookodile? What's wrong?" Cletus questioned.

"Krookodile..."

"What's up?" Davis questioned.

"I'm not sure. I think Krookodile sees something." Cletus said. They looked through the woods to try and see what Krookodile sees. They soon spotted it when they saw someone emerging through the trees. They soon were met with a young trainer dressed in a zipped up leather jacket with a grey shirt underneath. He wore black pants and had brown messy hair. Something about this guy was making Krookodile uneasy. Just by looking into his eyes, he does give an intimidating feeling. Who is he?

I want to be the very best

Like no one ever was

To catch them is my real test

To train them is my cause

(Pokemon!)

Every challenge along the way

With courage I will face

I will battle every day to claim my rightful place

(Yeah!)

Pokemon

Gotta catch'em all

Oh, so true

Our courage will pull us through

You teach me, I'll teach you

Po-ke-mon

Pokemon!

(Davis' voice) Krookodile's Path

"Uh... Hi there." Davis said. "Say, you wouldn't happen to see a strange pokemon. One you probably never saw before, did you?"

"Why? You going to pretend to be a trainer and try to catch it?" The guy questioned, but Davis already got annoyed from that tone. "I saw you catch that Bluja, but you let your friend there did the battling for you. You need someone else to help you catch a pokemon? How pathetic."

"Hey, I could have caught Bluja myself, but I don't have any other pokemon with me!" Davis said. "In fact, the pokemon I'm looking for is my partner. We got separated and I'm trying to find him."

"You can't even hold on to your own pokemon either. I've seen a lot of lousy trainers, but you have got to be the worst."

"What did you say?!" Davis questioned.

"Even if your friend did help you out, don't you think catching that Bluja was a little too easy. It's attacks are just about basic. Wouldn't you be better off catching the strongest one you can find? Whatever kind of trainer you're trying to be, won't you need strong pokemon to become that?"

"I think Bluja is just fine as it is because it can always get stronger." Davis said. "I just caught Bluja, but it will get stronger once I train it." Davis was starting to dislike this guy with how he's trashing him. The guy just scuffed at Davis thinking he's ridiculous. "What? You think you have it all figured out? How about we battle and I'll show you?"

"Davis, we don't really have time." Cletus said.

"I'm not interested in battling someone like you in the first place." The guy said as he gave Davis the cold shoulder and just walked away with Davis getting really irritated.

"Bluja! Bluja!" Bluja called out to Davis and it sounded like Bluja found something.

"Bluja seems to have spotted something. Imperialdramon!" Davis called as he and the others hurried off.

"Imperialdramon?" The guy questioned as that sounded like a tough name.

...

Terra

When Terra had Imperialdramon all fixed up, she called Professor Sassafras about what she found and was told about Davis. Since she knows that's Imperialdramon's partner, they got to work and tried retracing their steps to find him. However, they ran into trouble as they tried running as fast as they could. Why were they running? It's because a bunch of Ursaring were chasing after them.

"I told you that Pocub should have left that food alone!" Imperialdramon said as he, Terra, and Pocub were running as fast as they could. "Do you know how to really train that little guy?!"

"It's not my fault! I'm still new to all of this! Pocub has a mind of it's own!" Terra claimed. They kept running and tried to get away from the Ursaring, but the Ursaring aren't easing up. "You can fly, can't you?! Get us out of here!"

"Good idea!" Imperialdramon said as he should have thought of that sooner. He grabbed both of them and tried to fly off, but the Ursaring weren't letting them go as one fired a Hyper Beam and hit Imperialdramon right in the back with him getting knocked out of the air. "Those Ursaring must really not like we messed with their food."

"Ring!" The Ursaring tried attacking them again, but Pocub made a brave attempt to stop them.

"Pocub!" Pocub unleashed a blast of Powder Snow, but one Ursaring pushed through it and gave Pocub a powerful slash.

"Pocub!" Terra called as she's afraid Pocub is hurt. They might be in real trouble here.

"Bluja, Wing Attack!"

"Krookodile, Rock Tomb!" Just then, two attacks came in and smashed against the Ursaring.

"Imperialdramon!" Davis called as he and the others arrived just in time.

"Davis! You're here! Is that Cletus and Krookodile with you?!" Imperialdramon questioned.

"That's Davis?" Terra questioned.

"No time for greetings. Those Ursaring seem rather mad." Cletus said as the Ursaring were coming back for more and were even angrier.

"No worries. Imperialdramon, Dragon Rush at full power and give them a good one!" Davis said.

"You got it!" Imperialdramon said as he gathered his dragon power and flew right at the Imperialdramon. He smashed against all of them in one powerful strike and threw the Ursaring for a loop. "Let's go! Let's get out of here!" All of them agreed to that as they all hurried off as fast as they could. All of them ran and managed to escape from the Ursaring. Once they were far enough away, they caught their breath and tried to pull themselves together.

"Imperialdramon! You're okay!" Davis said as he was glad to be back with his partner.

"Yeah. I am thanks to this girl. Her name is Terra." Imperialdramon said.

"Uh... Hi." Terra said as she was starting to feel a little awkward.

"Hey, your pokemon looks hurt. I've got some potions that might be able to help." Cletus offered as he tried to help Pocub out.

"Sorry if Imperialdramon caused any trouble." Davis said.

"Hey!" Imperialdramon complained. Then, he noticed Bluja landing on Davis' head. "Who's that?"

"Meet Bluja, who helped me find you." Davis introduced. That meant a new friend, and Imperialdramon was glad for that.

"Hi, little guy." Imperialdramon said as he petted Bluja with his finger.

"Anyway, Terra is your name, right? Thanks a lot for helping Imperialdramon. My name is Davis."

"I'm Cletus, and that there is Krookodile."

"Hi, guys. I was glad to help Imperialdramon. By the way, this is my partner, Pocub." Terra introduced.

"Pocub!"

"So you're a Pocub." Davis said as he used his pokedex.

"Pocub, the Polar Pokemon. A water and ice-type. Even at a young age, Pocub are capable of withstanding frigid water temperatures."

"Well, thanks so much for what you did." Davis said.

"No problem. I was actually on my way back to Professor Sassafras. I called her about this whole situation, and she told me you were on your way." Terra said.

"Oh yeah. I guess I was in so much of a hurry that I didn't stop to hear her out. We might as well head back and let her know about what happened." Davis suggested. They all thought that was a good idea, and they can get their pokemon taken care of. What none of them knew was that the rude trainer from before was watching them. Seems something has caught his interest now.

...

Professor Sassafras' Lab

"Well, I'm glad to see it all worked out." Professor Sassafras said. "Don't worry about your pokemon. We have a few medical supplies here, so we can take care of them."

"Thanks, Professor. I'm glad everything seems to have worked out." Terra said as they saw all of their pokemon were in good hands. "Still, I'm a little fuzzy on the details. What pokemon could be so strong that a big guy like Imperialdramon got into even bigger trouble?"

"Yeah, Davis. You weren't really specific as to what pokemon you encountered." Cletus said.

"Well, it was like some sort of shadow in a dark cloud, so I didn't get a good look." Davis said as he tried to think. "It looked sort of like..." As Davis was trying to think, he spotted a painting on the wall of two pokemon, one looking like a unicorn and the one bird-shaped caught his attention. "Like that! It looked like that!" He said as he pointed right at the painting. "Professor Sassafras, who is the pokemon with wings in the painting."

"That happens to be a mural of the legendary pokemon of this region." Professor Sassafras claimed. "Their names are Unicris and Vastnus. Vastnus is a pokemon that is empowered by the heavens while Unicris is empowered by the earth."

"One represents heaven, the other represents earth." Cletus said as that was amazing.

"Davis, are you saying the pokemon you encountered was Vastnus?" Professor Sassafras asked.

"I'm sure of it." Davis said.

"Sounds crazy, but that's really the only explanation." Professor Sassafras said as she thought it over. "It is said that Vastnus also carries the power of the sky, capable of generating powerful windstorms. I wonder why Vastnus would appear like that." Knowing it was a legendary pokemon, this certainly is something incredible.

"Wow. I can't believe you encountered a legendary pokemon." Terra said as the three of them talked about it on their own.

"It certainly is a rare encounter. Why do you think Vastnus appeared to you?" Cletus said.

"I don't know." Davis said. "I've never even heard of Vastnus until now. As soon the storm cleared away, it was gone. I only saw it for like a moment."

"How weird." Terra said.

"I've dealt with weirder." Davis said as it doesn't bother him. "Anyway, it's gone now and there's not much we can do except to get back to where I was going. The reason I came to Grecko was to meet all kinds of pokemon here, and so that I can take on the Grecko League. Now that I got Imperialdramon, and my new Bluja, we can get back on track. Cletus, where is the nearest gym?"

"Hang on. Let me check." Cletus said as he pulled out his map and had a look. "It looks the nearest gym from here is in Ceruso City."

"Well, that's where we're going first." Davis said. "What about you, Terra? Where are you going?"

"Me? Well, I don't really have any plans." Terra said. "You see, traveling around sounds like it could be a lot of fun, but I'm not really sure what I want to be. That's why I'm doing this. I want to try and find what's right for me out there while also catching fabulous pokemon."

"Really? In that case, since you helped Imperialdramon and don't really have anywhere to go, how about you just stick with us?" Davis offered.

"Really? I can?" Terra questioned.

"It be a lot more fun to travel with some friends." Davis said.

"He's right. We wouldn't mind." Cletus said.

"That sounds like a great idea." Professor Sassafras said as she joined in. "Since you're a new trainer, you could learn a lot from these two who have experience. It would also be fun having friends to travel with."

"So, it's settled. You and Pocub are coming with us." Davis said.

"Sounds like it could be a lot of fun! I'm in!" Terra said as they are now joined together on this journey. Once that was settled, the three of them were getting their things in order as they brought all of their pokemon back to their pokeballs.

"Okay. I think we're ready to go." Davis said.

"Wait. Aren't you going to put Imperialdramon in a pokeball?" Terra asked.

"Nope. This way is much more enjoyable." Davis said.

'I'm not even sure I even have one.' Imperialdramon thought.

"Well, safe travels." Professor Sassafras as she showed them out. Just as they stepped out, they were all met with the same trainer from before. "Yes? Can I help you?"

"The name's Jason. I'm not here for you, Professor Sassafras. I'm here for him." He said as he looked right at Davis. "That's an interesting pokemon you have there. The big one in black is yours. You still want to have that battle?"

"You bet I do." Davis said as he would like to give this guy some serious payback. They all moved in the back garden so that the two of them could have this battle.

"If you don't mind, I'll be the referee." Cletus said.

"So, how are we doing this?" Davis questioned.

"It's just a one-on-one. I want to see what that big guy can really do." Jason said as he pulled out his pokeball. "Sculice, time for battle!" He called on an interesting looking pokemon. It looked it was made of ice. It stood at the same height as Imperialdramon with a jagged back and had a wide frame with it's head shaped like a narrow oval.

"Sculice."

"I've never seen that before." Davis said as he used his pokedex.

"Sculice, the Sculpture Pokemon. An ice-type. It is believed this pokemon came to life when an artist put it's very heart and soul into making a sculpture."

"An ice-type? That could be a problem, but we don't back down." Davis said. "Imperialdramon, let's win this with one strike! Brick Break!"

"Right!" Imperialdramon agreed as he flew right at Sculice and got his attack ready.

"Protect!" Jason said. Sculice formed a barrier around it and was able to block the attack. "Now use Ice Shard!" Sculice formed a shard of ice in its claw and blasted Imperialdramon with it as a lot of damage was done.

"Ouch! That looked like it hurt!" Terra said.

"Indeed. Quite effective. Not only are ice-type attacks strong against dragon-types, but used Protect to prevent damage and had a perfectly timed counter to deal massive damage." Professor Sassafras said.

"I guess I was wrong. You're a weak trainer as I thought, and your pokemon are pathetically weak as well. Sculice, finish this right here with Ice Punch!" Jason ordered.

"Sculice!" Sculice focused it's cold power into its fist and was going for a finishing strike.

"Not so fast! Dragon Pulse let's go!" Davis said. Imperialdramon was able to counter with him firing a dragon blast and managed to hit Sculice with it. "It's going to take more than a little ice to stop us! Now use Focus Punch!"

"Counter with your own Focus Punch!" Jason ordered. The two of them used the same attack as they focused their power into their fists and clashed them against each other. "It might seem like a draw, but Sculice still has a free arm for it's Ice Punch."

"We've got a free arm as well! Brick Break!" Davis said. Both of them used their spare arms and managed to land a powerful strike against the other.

"Blast it with Ice Shard!" Jason ordered. Sculice fired another shard right at Imperialdramon, but he was able to jump to the side and was able to avoid the attack.

"Let's finish this here! Full power Dragon Rush!" Davis ordered.

"Ice Punch once more and finish this!" Jason ordered. Both pokemon went at each other with full power as they had their attacks crashed right into each other. Both of them tried to overpower the other only for a fierce explosion to go off and knocked both of them back. Neither side wanted to backdown to the other, but they were already at their limit with both of them dropping to the ground.

"We have a draw! Both pokemon are unable to battle!" Cletus declared.

"Wow. Both of their attacks looked fierce, but it ended in a draw!" Terra said as she was amazed.

"Imperialdramon! Are you okay?!" Davis asked as he hurried over to him while Jason brought Sculice back to its pokeball.

"Sorry, Davis. I wanted the win, but that Sculice was powerful." Imperialdramon said.

"It might have ended in a draw, but it sure doesn't feel like it." Davis complained as he felt more like he got beat by this guy despite the outcome. He wanted to prove he was a better trainer than Jason gave him credit for, but that didn't work as he wanted.

"A draw is a draw. Just deal with it." Jason said. "Thanks for use of the field, Professor Sassafras. I'm out of here." He said as he walked away like what happened didn't really matter to him.

"Hey! Come back! I'm not done with you!" Davis said, but Jason just simply ignored him. One thing's for sure, he's not going to forget Jason.

And so, not only has Davis gained a new traveling companion, he has also gained a new rival in Jason. With his first battle in Grecko ending in a draw, what else will await Davis and his friends? Find out as the journey continues.
