Our heroes are continuing on their journey. Since they're heading to Posidro City that homes a water-type gym, they all decided to have a walk by the water.

"Wow. That water sure looks beautiful." Terra said as she loved the view. As they were walking around, she spotted something. "Hey! Look at all the Slotter there!"

"Slotter?" Davis questioned. They all had a look and saw a whole pack of pokemon that were only a two feat tall. They were blue like water with navy blue paws feet and tails. They had whiskers and had otter-like appearances. "Never saw them before." He said as he pulled out his pokedex.

"Slotter, the Sea Otter Pokemon. A water-type. There thick fur keeps them warm in cold water and helps them dry instantly as the water just slides right off their fur."

"They are so cute!" Terra said.

"They look like they're related to Dewott." Cletus said.

"They're cute, but we should keep going." Davis said.

"Slotter!" They all looked ahead and spotted another Slotter standing in the way and wanted to fight.

I want to be the very best

Like no one ever was

To catch them is my real test

To train them is my cause

(Davis' voice): Slip, Slide, Slotter

"What's this one doing?" Davis questioned.

"Slotter! Slotter!"

"It's saying that it wants to battle us." Imperialdramon questioned.

"A battle?" You sure you want to do that, little guy?" Davis questioned. It sure looked like it wanted to. "Well, I like that you don't back down. Chamleaf, I choose you!"

"Chamleaf!"

"Slotter!" Slotter started this battle as it tackled Chamleaf with Quick Attack. After that, it used Water Gun and blasted Chamleaf with it.

"That Slotter surely didn't waste any time." Cletus said. "First it attacked with Quick Attack and then blasted Chamleaf with Water Gun."

"We'll battle back with Power Whip!" Davis said. Chamleaf shot it's powered tongue out and smacked Slotter with it. However, Slotter battled back as it surrounded itself with water and flew right at Chamleaf.

"What is that?" Terra said.

"It's using Aqua Jet!" Cletus said.

"Razor Leaf!" Davis called. Chamleaf battled back as it shot leaves at Chamleaf and smashed it against Slotter with some real damage being dealt. "Great. Now I think I'll catch it."

"Stop!" All of the battling stopped when a tanned muscular man with a sky blue sports top and navy shorts with dark spiked hair getting in the way. "Stop attacking this poor little thing! It's already in a tough spot!"

"Huh? What are you talking about?" Davis questioned.

"We're not attacking it for no reason." Imperialdramon said. "That little guy wanted us to battle it." The guy seemed surprise to hear that.

"It wanted to battle?" The guy questioned. Just then, Slotter got up and just took off. "Sorry about that. I thought you were the ones attacking it. These Slotter seem to be I a tough spot."

"Who are you anyway?" Davis questioned.

"My name is Bernard. I've been here for a while to keep an eye on the Slotter."

"My name is Davis."

"I'm Imperialdramon."

"My name is Terra."

"And I'm Cletus."

"So, what are you talking about? Are the Slotter in some sort of trouble?" Terra asked.

"We'll, that's what I'm trying to figure out." Bernard said as they all looked to the pack. "Slotter tend to live in water that has a lot of sea plants around. That's because they can use it for cover or to help secure themselves. With a large group like this, this place isn't right for them."

"Really? Are you saying this place is all wrong for them?" Cletus said.

"That's right. Plus, you don't usually find Slotter in this part of the water." Bernard claimed. "The fact is that it's rather strange there are so many of them right here."

"That is rather weird. What are they all doing here?" Terra said.

"And what was the deal with the one that wanted to battle us?" Davis questioned.

"That too is strange. Slotter are usually playful, but they can be great battlers when they have a trainer." Bernard claimed. "Maybe I should go find that one to make sure it's okay."

"You seem to know a lot about Slotter, and care a lot." Cletus claimed.

"I should. Water-types are my favorite, and Slotter are one of my favorite pokemon." Bernard said. "It comes from being the gym leader at the Posidro Gym."

"Wait! You're the gym leader?!" Davis said as he couldn't believe his luck that they meet the very gym leader he's going to face.

Further Down

They all went further down the road to find the Slotter that attacked earlier. As they were searched around for Slotter, they told Bernard all about how they were coming to his gym.

"I see. So, you wish to challenge my gym." Bernard said. "I suppose it's a good thing I ran into you now instead of while I was away. When I heard about what was going on here, I had to leave my gym to see this for myself."

"No sweat. I jus hope I do get to battle." Davis said.

"We will, but let's deal with this issue first." Bernard claimed.

"Hold up. Look there." Terra said as she spotted something. All of them took a look and found the same Slotter from before. It looked like it was training as it was attacking trees.

"it's that same Slotter, and it still wants to battle." Imperialdramon said.

"But it took a couple grass-type attacks. It shouldn't be pushing itself so hard already." Cletus said. He was right as poor Slotter looked exhausted. Davis felt bad since he was the one that did this to Slotter. Seeing it like this, Davis stepped forward to it.

"Hey, Slotter." Davis said and got its attention. When Slotter saw him, it looked ready to finish the battle. "Calm down. I'm not going to do anything." He said as he moved closer to it, but Slotter used Aqua Jet and tackled Davis.

"Davis!" Terra called as they were all worried he was hurt.

"Ouch. That hit like a football tackle. Hey, I'm only here to talk." Davis said. Slotter was going to keep battling, but it dropped to its hands in exhaustion. "You've been working hard, but you're really pushing it now." Davis got up and tried to help Slotter, but Slotter just pushed it away. "I'm jus trying to help! So calm down!"

"Here." Cletus said as he lend a hand. "Let's get those injuries treated. Davis, hold it still." Davis held Slotter as Cletus used some potion to help Slotter feel better. It sting a bit, but Slotter took it. "There. That should do it, but you still need to take it easy."

"You're pretty tough for a little guy." Davis said. Slotter was beginning to calm down and was thinking they weren't so bad after all.

"Now that you seemed to have calmed down, you want to tell us what this is all about?" Imperialdramon questioned. Slotter started talking with Imperialdramon being the only one who understood. "What?! You're training to get your home back?!"

"It's home?!" Davis said.

"Slotter is saying that a pokemon forced it and the others out of their home." Imperialdramon said.

"It did? That explains it." Bernard said. "I think it's time we head over and see this pokemon for ourselves."

...

The Water

Slotter took them to where it and it's friends once lived in. When they got to the shore, they saw kelp all over the place.

"Gross! What is all this?!" Terra said as she felt disgusted looking at it.

"These are the plants that Slotter are usually found with, but they should be under water." Bernard said as he had a look at them. "These didn't break off either. It looks like something cut through them."

"Maybe it was our mystery pokemon." Cletus figured.

"But where and what is it?" Terra questioned. As they were all looking for it, Slotter got rather impatient.

"Slotter!" Slotter got frustrated and ran straight for the water.

"Slotter, wait! You're suppose to be taking it easy!" Davis called as he chased after it. He discarded everything that can't get wet and jumped in the water after Slotter. Davis went under the water and fought through the floating sea plants to find Slotter down there looking for the mystery pokemon. What they didn't know was that something already found them. As Slotter looked around, it suddenly got attacked as something smashed into it and moved really fast. Davis didn't like that and saw the pokemon that did it.

"Sawosh!" The pokemon was a blue swordfish-like pokemon, but the nose was an actual blade. Slotter tried to battle it, but that pokemon was rather fast I the water and kept attacking Slotter. Davis swam fast as he grabbed Slotter and tried to get out of there. However, the pokemon chased after them and was about to get them. It was closing in fast until another pokemon smashed into it and Bernard grabbed the two with them swimming out. They were able to make it to land and were safe for now.

"Are you two okay?" Bernard asked.

"Yeah. I think so." Davis said.

"Davis, that was just plain reckless." Cletus said.

"Hey, I just went after this little troublemaker." Davis claimed as he was holding Slotter.

"At least now we know what we're dealing with. It's a Sawosh." Bernard said.

"A Sawosh?" Terra questioned with her using your pokedex.

"Sawosh, the Swordfish Pokemon. A water and steel type. Because of its bladed nose, it is known as the Swordsman of the Sea."

"You two would have been in trouble if my partner hadn't stepped in." Bernard said as he revealed his partner.

"Ocea!" This pokemon was a giant blue otter with its top half blue and the bottom half, divided by a zigzag, navy blue with a long tail.

"That's an Oceantter! Slotter's evolved form!" Terra said with Davis using his pokedex.

"Oceantter, the Sea Otter Pokemon. A water-type, and the evolve form of Slotter. It's long slender body allows it to swim easily through water."

"Well, now that we know what we're dealing with, leave this to me." Bernard claimed. "Oceantter, get that Sawosh."

"Oceantter!" Oceantter went on ahead and dived back in the water. Slotter wanted to go in and help, but Davis stopped it.

"Easy there. I know you want to help, but let's have them handle this." Davis said as he was taking good care of Slotter. Meanwhile, Oceantter swam under the water and was heading for that Sawosh. When Sawosh saw it, it swam at Oceantter rather fast. However, Oceantter times the attack perfectly as it used Aqua Tail and smashed it against Sawosh and knocked Sawosh out of the water. Everyone saw that and was amazed with what they just witnessed. "Incredible! That Sawosh was moving so fast under the water!"

"Now use Slam!" Bernard called. Oceantter jumped out of the water and grabbed a hold of Sawosh. With one good throw, Sawosh slammed against the ground. "There we go. Sawosh aren't so bad once you get them out of the water." He said as he lifted it up. "Let's move this Sawosh to a different area. Slotter, you and your friends should be real happy to have your home back"

"That was incredible. He handled that Sawosh so easily." Terra said.

"He's an expert with water-types, and it's obvious that he knows how to handle them." Cletus said as Davis could see that he might have a tough battle in the future.

...

Later

Bernard moved Sawosh to a different area to make sure it wouldn't bother the Slotter. All the Slotter were back home with the beach cleaned up from the chopped up kelp.

"There we go. Everything should be fine now." Bernard said.

"You like it now, Slotter?" Davis asked. "You got your home back." Slotter should be happy, but it didn't seem happy. "I get it. You wish it was you since you trained to battle that Sawosh, but someone else got rid of it. You know, I like the way you do things."

"Slotter?"

"Yeah. You're not afraid of a fight, and you don't back down. You want to be the big hero." Davis said. "I'm like that myself." Slotter was rather impressed with Davis. Seems like Davis really does get Slotter. "We'll, take care." Davis was ready to the road again, but Slotter chased after it and grabbed Davis by the leg. "Now what is it?"

"Does Slotter not want Davis to go?" Terra questioned.

"Or maybe Slotter wants to go with Davis because it likes, Davis." Cletus said.

"Really?" Davis said. That smile on Slotter's face said it all. "Cool! You can come with us!" Davis took a pokeball and tapped it against Slotter with Slotter going inside. With that, Slotter was officially Davis' pokemon. "Yeah! I got Slotter!"

"Nicely done, Davis. A Slotter is a great Pokémon to have." Bernard said. "Well, I'll see you around." He said as he was on his way.

"Wait, Bernard!" Davis called.

"I'll be waiting for you two at the Posidro Gym!" Bernard called as he waved him off. Davis is looking forward to this battle with his new Slotter.

After helping out Slotter, Davis gains a new friend and and got to meet his next challenge. With Slotter joining the team, Davis is looking forward to his upcoming gym battle.
