At the end of an alley, ink is sprayed on a wall, finishing the image of a large demonic face.
Two Inner Demon members, one holding a spray can, back away from the wall, looking at the image on the wall.
"Hah, soon everyone will know this isn't the Big Man's territory anymore, but the Inner Demons'," one of the Inner Demon says.
The other Inner Demon tilts his head, with his partner turns to him.
"What is it?" the first Inner Demon asks.
"I don't know, it's just…" the second Inner Demon says. "Boring."
"Boring?" the first Inner Demon responds. "It's our mask, just bigger."
Then Spider-Man, hanging upside down from a webline, lowers himself behind the two Inner Demons, "I have to agree. It failed to capture the deeper meaning behind the masks. The 'inner demon', if you would." The two Inner Demons glance at each other. "Not to mention the scale is off."
The two Inner Demons spin around with the first one spraying ink at Spider-Man, who leaps backward.
"Some people can't take criticism," Spider-Man fires a webshot, hitting the spraycan and blocking its nozzle.
The second Inner Demon picks up a trash can and throws it.
Spider-Man shoots up two weblines, pulling himself up, dodging the trash can, then fires a webline at the trash can, "First tagging and now littering, shame." He pulls on the webline, launching it at the two Inner Demons, causing one to drop his spraycan, and knocking them back against the wall. "Just shame."
Spider-Man lands and fires some webs, pinning the two Inner Demons and the trash can to the wall.
Spider-Man picks up the spray can, then looks up at the tag on the wall, "I was really hoping that the Inner Demons were just a feign group." He drops the spray can. "I really don't need this on my plate right now."
Spider-Man turns and fires a webline, web swings out of the alley and down the street.
At the same time, across the street, a man with a camera steps out from behind a truck and watches as Spider-Man web swings away, taking a picture.
"External Environment"
Harry is in front of Norman Osborn's tombstone, as he looks down, "Dad, remember how I told you that mom had taken over as CEO of OsCorp… well, today she's hosting a party to ease concerns that investors and the board might have after… after you left us…"
Harry sighs, "I promise you, dad, I'm gonna be the kind of man you would've wanted. Your legacy won't be any kind of Gobulin Green madness."
He then notices a while away is Peter approaching Gwen, who turns to face him. Harry scoffs.
"Gwen," Peter says, glancing at Harry who turns back to Norman's tombstone, before looking back at Gwen. "How has everything been?"
"Harry's been visiting his father's grave everyday since we got back from the Spring Break trip," Gwen answers. "Harry said he's fine, but I'm honestly concerned."
"If Harry said he's good, then I'm sure everything will be fine," Peter says, then looks back at Harry. "Though I'm not sure how. I remember how I was when Uncle Ben was gone… But at least Harry isn't alone, like I had him, and Aunt May…" He looks back at Gwen. "And Gwen. On that subject…" "Gwen, we should talk about the conversation a few weeks ago…"
"So Peter," Harry approaches the pair. "How are things going at the Bugle?"
"Except that Harry blamed Spider-Man for his father's death," Peter rubs the back of his head. "It has been slow."
"That's unfortunate," Harry says, placing his hands into his pockets.
The entire time, the same man from before is hiding behind a tree, watching the group, before writing something in a notepad.
At OsCorp, Emily Osborn is exiting an elevator to find a large lab where Michael Morbius, a pale young man in a lab coat, is studying a large water tank full of electric eels, while holding a tablet, with two mechanical claws hanging above him.
"This better be important Dr. Morbius," Emily says, as she approaches. "I have meetings with shareholders before the party tonight."
"Yeah, hum, yeah, Mrs. Osborn," Michael turns away from the water tank. "I-I'm trying to go over Dr. Octavius' notes, like you instructed, which included an energy field cell, and his study into the works of Dr…" He looks at the tablet. "Drs. Connors and attempts to cure a… Maxwell Dillion."
"Get to the point," Emily crosses her arms.
"This isn't my area of expertise," Michael tells her. "I specialize in blood and plasma cells."
"Dr. Morbius, the world, and OsCorp, are changing," Emily tells him. "You must change with it, or be washed away."
"Must change…" Michael looks back at the tablet and turns slightly.
"Mrs. Osborn!"
Emily turns to see exiting the elevator is Morris Bench, holding a letter as he approaches.
"What is the meaning of this?!" Morris asks, angrily. "I've been fired?!"
"It shouldn't be surprising," Emily starts. "Your last job for OsCorp almost cost the life of my husband, albeit a few months earlier."
"That wasn't my fault, the detonator was hacked," Morris tells her.
"Further proof you're no longer needed," Emily says, shocking Morris.
Michael is tapping the tablet, as one of the mechanical claws shakes slightly, while he's mumbling, "I don't even know how to work… whatever these are."
"Listen, I'll sue OsCorp for wrongful termination, then…" Morris warns.
"Then nothing, you'll be bankrupt before a judge even hears your little complaint," Emily walks around Morris, "Listen, it's like I told the good doctor, you have to change with the world or get washed away."
Michael tabs the tablet again, causing a mechanical claw to punch the water, breaking open a hole, with a gush of water shoots out, knocking down Morris, as a bunch of the water gets into his mouth. The electric eels' electricity runs through the water stream, electrocuting Morris, who tries to scream, with his body giving a blue glow.
Emily and Michael watch in horror, as Morris' entire body turns blue, before seemingly turning into water and dissolves.
"He… he's dead…" Michael continues to look terrified. "I ki… kil…"
Emily sighs, "That's enough." She starts to turn away. "Clean up this mess."
Michael watches Emily approaching the elevator.
Unaware to the two, water drips into a drain, forming a puddle in a large pipe in the floor. The puddle stirs before rising up and forming a fist.
Peter, Gwen, and Harry are walking across the sidewalk to the Coffee Bean.
"So, it's been awhile since the three of us had just hung out, right?" Peter asks.
"Guess that's right," Gwen adds, with Harry notices something inside the Coffee Bean. "When was the last time we hung out?"
Harry turns back to his friends, "I think it was when we all went out to dinner on Valentine's Day."
At that moment, Liz and MJ come out of the Coffee Bean, surprising Peter and Gwen.
"Oh, hi MJ, Liz," Peter nervously says.
"Hi Peter, Gwen, Harry," MJ says, nervously, as Liz looks away.
"Hi there," Gwen says.
"Nice to see you both," Harry says, as he places a hand on Gwen's shoulder and the two start to enter the Coffee Bean.
Peter watches them, before seeing Liz and MJ walking past him.
"Liz, huh," Peter reaches out, but MJ places a hand on his hand, lowering it, while stepping out in front of him.
"Listen Pete, you should give her some space, and time," MJ suggests.
"Oh, okay," Peter says, as MJ turns back and catches up to Liz.
Peter sighs, then turns back to the Coffee Bean, seeing through a window that Gwen and Harry are sitting at table, talking happily.
Peter looks away, "Maybe this was a bad idea."
Later on, Gwen gets out of Harry's car's passenger side in front of her house.
"I have to get ready for the party my mother's hosting," Harry says to Gwen, as she turns to face him. "Sorry I couldn't swing you an invite."
"It's fine, besides after the field trip my dad is back on the early curfew track," Gwen says.
Harry looks over his shoulder to see Peter exiting the back seat, "I can drop you off, Peter."
"I can walk, and I could use some fresh air," Peter tells him.
Harry sighs, "Fine. Later."
Peter watches as Harry drives away, before he sees Gwen turning to her house.
"Gwen, hum, we really should talk about…" Peter starts.
"Sorry, Peter, but I need to do some studying," Gwen says, without looking at him, then runs to her house.
Peter looks down, "So much for talking with Gwen. Perhaps I could use some fresh air, with web slinging." Peter's spider sense goes off, before he looks over his shoulder to see a car parked down the street. "Is it that car…?"
Peter then looks ahead to see a bus coming to a stop, before he rushes up to it.
Inside the car, the man from before looks up over the dashboard, watching Peter.
At the OsCorp party, which is in a large room with three walls and a balcony with railings and stairs leading down into another larger area, several people are standing around in formal wear, talking among themselves.
Emily is talking with some investors, "And I promise to continue developing OsCorp into the future, just like my late husband would've wanted." She turns and looks at the rest of the party, before silently adding, "And my son will do as well, if he ever honors us with his presence."
J. Jonah Jameson, holding a drink, is walking with two men, "Some say that printed media is dying, but I say such ideas are dead on arrival."
Jameson laughs lightly, as the two men roll their eyes and walk away, before he bumps shoulders with Miles.
"Excuse me," Miles says, as he turns to Jameson.
"Yeah, yeah, hey, do I know you?" Jameson says, upon seeing Miles' face.
"Miles Warren, Mr. Jameson is it?" Miles responds. "I recently took over the Bio-Lab at ESU from the Connors."
"Connors, right, I knew them, they were completely and unacquited unhelpful with my son," Jameson says, before taking a drink from his glass.
"Ah, Colonel Jameson," Miles says. "My condolences."
Emily approaches Michael, who is standing against a wall by himself, "Dr. Morbius, why aren't you speaking with any investors or the board?"
"Sorry, Mrs. Osborn, I-I'm still shaken about… about what happened earlier," Michael tells her.
Emily slowly shakes her head, "If it wasn't for OsCorp, you would neither have a job or any place to do your plasma research, so get your head on straight and remember what you owned to OsCorp."
"Y-Yes, Mrs. Osborn," Michael says nervously.
Meanwhile, a sewer pipe in the wall starts to crack, before bursting, with a large stream of water flying out and around the party hall. Everyone looks on, surprised and terrified, before the stream of water slams down on the floor and starts to take the form of a man, then becomes solid, becoming Morris Bench.
"Finally! I finally got a handle on my true self," Morris proudly proclaims.
"Morris Bench?!" Emily calls out.
"Ah, Mrs. Emily Osborn," Morris turns to her. "As you see, I've changed with the world." He grins. "Regretted firing me?"
"I regret nothing," Emily coldly says, as Michael backs away.
Morris starts to get angry, as his body turns into water, "You will." Morris grows in size. "Like I'd said, I've changed with the world." His arms get bigger. "And now, you're gonna get washed away!"
Morris' entire body turns into a giant tidal wave that flies forward and fills the room.
Peter is sitting on a bus, when he looks over his shoulder and sees out the back window, as the same car drives around another car.
"That car is definitely following me," Peter realizes, before noticing the driver. "Wait, is that the guy that ambushed Gwen and me outside ESU's Bio-Lab when Venom tried to oust me as Spider-Man?" Peter starts to turn back. "Does he still think I'm Spidey?"
Suddenly, an explosion is heard, when Peter, and other people, look out the windows to see the distant OsCorp, as water bursts out rows of windows on a high floor.
"That's OsCorp," Peter realizes, as the bus comes to a stop.
Peter hurries through other people on the bus and exits through the opening doors.
The man exits his parked car to see Peter disappearing through a crowd of people who had gathered to watch the chaos at OsCorp. The man runs around his car and tries to force himself through the crowd, but quickly realizes he has lost track of Peter as he looks around. Meanwhile, a nearby manhole cover is slowly pulled back into place.
Beneath the streets, Spider-Man is web swinging through the sewers, "Ah, the glamorous life of a superhero."
Harry, in a suit, arrives at the bottom of the stairs leading to the party, when he sees several people clinging onto the railings, before noticing Emily walking down the stairs, coughing.
"Mom!" Harry calls out, before running up to her. "Mom, are you okay?! Mom!"
"I'm okay, calm down," Emily says, as Harry stands before her, unaware that a puddle of water behind her is rescinding.
A pillar of water rises up before forming Morris' shape, but without becoming solid, "You are far from okay, Mrs. Osborn." Emily turns and Harry looks up, surprised. "You and I have some unfinished business."
"Looks pretty finished to me."
Harry looks over his shoulder, "Him."
Spider-Man is swinging through the floor toward the scene.
Two people, a man and a woman, holding onto the railing lose their holds and start to fall, screaming.
"Hold on!" Spider-man swings forward, lets go of the webline, flips through the air, then grabs the woman by the waist and the man by his jacket. "Hold onto me that is." He then notices the man is Jameson, as he fires a webline from the arm holding onto the woman. "Well, isn't it my favorite yellow journalist."
"I'll show you yellow, you webbed menace," Jameson threatens, as Spider-Man swings down to the ground.
"Nice come back, JJ," Spider-Man says, as he puts the woman and drops Jameson onto his butt. "Let me guess, someone else writes all of Bugle's headlines."
Spider-Man fires another webline and swings away.
"I'll get you for this!" Jameson waves a fist, as the woman happily waves.
Spider-Man lands on the nearby wall and sees Morris' face, who looks up at him, "Wait, I know you. You're Morris Bench. But… but what happened to you?"
"This," Morris looks at his hands, before looking at Emily. "All of this is hers fault. The 'great' and 'powerful' Emily Osborn."
"Nothing that had happened to Mr. Bench had been my fault," Emily says, unflinching.
"Liar!" Morris leans back and shoots forward an arm into a large water stream.
Spider-Man jumps off the wall, grabs Emily and Harry, and jumps off the stairs, as the water steam shoots past them. Spider-Man fires a webline at a nearby wall, with the three swings down to the ground into a short run, before all three stopping.
"Are you two okay?" Spider-Man asks, as he releases them.
Harry uses one arm to push Spider-Man back, "Quit with the act, you're no hero."
"I'm just trying to help," Spider-Man says.
"Like you helped my father?!" Harry responds.
"That's enough," Emily says.
"But mom, he's…" Harry starts.
"Enough, my son," Emily says.
Harry becomes calm and relaxed, "Yes, mom."
"Interfering nuisance," Morris says, as he turns into a pillar of water and flies off the balcony.
At the same time, Michael steps out of the room, holds up a tablet, then starts to run down the steps.
Spider-Man sees the pillar of water coming down and bounces toward them, "Quick, get out of here."
Emily and Harry start to run to the side, as Spider-Man web swings toward the pillar of water.
Spider-Man lands as the water pillar stops and turns back into a watery Morris.
"You might've saved me once, Spider-Man, but I won't allow you to get in my way," Morris says.
"You need to calm down, I might be able to get you help with your… watery condition," Spider-Man says.
"The only help I need is to get to Emily Osborn," Morris says, as his body stretches up. "And to get you out of my way!"
Morris stretches out both arms, which turn into streams of water, with Spider-Man shoots a web line and pulls himself to dodge.
"Hold still, so I can wash you away like I will with Osborn!" Morris shoots another water stream.
Midair, Spider-Man fires another webline, dodging the attack, "His powers appeared similar to Sandman's…" Spider-Man gets hit by a water stream and sends flying toward a wall, before he stops his momentum with two weblines, flips and lands on the wall. "But he's becoming unstable like Colonel Jupiter."
Morris, with his lower half a water pillar, slides ahead before launching a large water fist at Spider-Man, who jumps out of the way, with the water fist punching a hole in the wall, uncovering a water pipe.
Spider-Man lands on the ceiling, upside down, "Morris, listen to me, it's not too late, if you stop this now…"
"'Too late'? It is too late," Morris looks at himself, including the water pillar his lower half had become. "Morris Bench is gone. He went down the drain."
He glances at the water pipe in the wall hole, labeled "Hydro Pump".
Morris turns back, "I'm now and forever, Hydro-Man!"
"Great, he 'supervillain named' himself, never a good sign," Spider-Man says.
"For you!" Hydro-Man swings a water arm, with Spider-Man jumping off the ceiling to dodge.
Spider-Man spins straight up, before firing two web lines, each passing Hydro-Man and hitting the wall behind him, before Spider-Man launching himself into a kick, but he went straight through Hydro-Man.
"Should've seen that coming," Spider-Man says, as a water arm stretches out from Hydro-Man's torso and grabs him, before Hydro-Man spins around and throws Spider-Man, slamming him against the wall between the two stairs.
Hydro-Man turns around, then slides ahead, "Now, where's Mrs. Osborn."
Spider-Man rubs the top of his head, "Great, Spidey, you attacked an ocean."
Michael runs over to him, "Spider-Man, I-I think I can help."
"You can? And you are…?" Spider-Man says, sitting up.
"M-Michael Morbius, a scientist here at OsCorp," Michael holds up his tablet. "And there's an energy field project that might be able to contain M-Mr. Bench."
"An energy field?" Spider-Man asks.
"W-Well, it's just a prototype for supervillain prisons that OsCorp was commissioned for, and this isn't my area of expertise, but I was ordered to familiar myself with all current and former projects," Michael explains. "I-I saw this and thought it could help…"
"Exposition later, energy field now," Spider-Man interrupts.
"Right, right," Michael turns the tablet and tabs the screen, showing a large cube, with energy bars appearing around them.
Hydro-Man is surfing on his lower body through a hall, "Now where is that lying witch."
"Hey, Hydrant-Man!"
Hydro-Man turns to see Spider-Man swings into the hall and lands on a wall.
"Should you be cooling off kids on the street?" Spider-Man holds out his arms in a shrugging motion. "I mean, I know it's still spring, not summer, but then again, have you seen the price of an ice cream cone lately."
"You annoying, smart-talking nuisance!" Hydro-Man calls out, before he shoots out an arm as a water stream. "Stay out of my way!"
Spider-Man dodges and flips onto another wall, "Fine, if you want, but I thought you wanted Mrs. Osborn."
"You know where she is?!" Hydro-Man calls out. "Where?!"
"Just follow the swinging Spider-Man," Spider-Man says, before he swings down the hall.
"I will have my revenge, you arachnid!" Hydro-Man yells, before he surfs on his lower body down the hall.
"At least he got that right," Spider-Man swings down the hall and turns a corner, flipping and landing on the ground. "I can't tell you how many times someone has vowed my destruction and call me an insect." He fires a web line at the ceiling and swings further down the hall. "Quite insulting really."
Spider-Man spins in midair and lands in front of a door labeled "Project: Pandora".
Spider-Man sees Hydro-Man starting to turn the corner, "Mrs. Osborn, stay in there, it's safe!"
"There's where you've been hiding her," Hydro-Man turns into a giant stream of water and launches himself forward.
"You got me," Spider-Man jumps onto the ceiling, with the water stream shooting under him, bashing down the door and lands into a pure white room. Spider-Man lands onto the floor and turns to the doorway. "And we got you."
Michael comes out of another door and tabs his tablet.
Hydro-Man reforms into his normal appearance, as a green light flickers throughout the walls, floor, and ceiling, with him looking around.
"Hum, Michael buddy, anytime?" Spider-Man looks over his shoulder.
"I-I don't know what's wrong," Michael says, continuing to tab the tablet, repeatedly.
"What is this? Where's Osborn?!" Hydro-Man continues to look around.
Spider-Man notices the door lying on the floor, "Are you kidding me? Hydrant broke the seal!"
Spider-Man fires two weblines at the door and pulls it back, as Hydro-Man turns back to him.
"What?!" Hydro-Man yells.
Spider-Man places the door back in place and starts firing webshots, all around the door.
"No you don't!" Hydro-Man forms a large water fist and punches the door.
Spider-Man finishes firing webshots, then turns to Michael, "Now!"
Michael tabs his tablet.
Hydro-Man's water fist punches the door again, as glowing green bars form all around the walls, with his water fist breaking apart with a zap. Hydro-Man's hand reforms as he screams.
Spider-Man relaxes, "I do not want to see how the police will get him in a jail cell." He then notices the sign on the door. "Ah, Pandora Box, who knew Norman liked the classics."
"How did you…?" Michael asks him.
"From what I can tell on that readout you show me, the energy field seems to use a conductive frequency, I was betting that I just had to form an unbroken connection for the energy field to function, and my webbing should do the job," Spider-Man explains.
"A-And if it didn't?" Michael asks.
"Well, I got here from the sewers, so I could use the shower," Spider-Man says, before offering a handshake. "Thanks for the help."
"It's the least I could do after everything," Michael says.
"What do you mean?" Spider-Man asks.
Michael sighs, "Nevermind."
Shortly later, several people, including Harry, are walking out of OsCorp, when Harry sees Spider-Man swinging away.
"Probably thinking this could buy him some goodwill," Harry says. "As if."
Jameson also sees Spider-Man, "There goes that no good troublemaker. If I could get my hands on him…"
Miles walks over to Jameson, "I couldn't help but hear your disdain for the local hero, Mr. Jameson."
"He's no hero, a menace, a nuisance, a-a… pain in the backside," Jameson tells him.
Miles smiles, "You know, Mr. Jameson, I have some work I've been interested in, that could be of similar interest to you."
Jameson raises an eyebrow, in confusion.
Spider-Man is swinging through the city, "At least I was able to save Harry's mom and Harry, but I couldn't help Morris Bench, just imprisoned him. Just like I failed to help Max Dillion, Colonel Jameson… and Flint Marko…"
Spider-Man shakes his head, as he continues to swing, "What else could go wrong."
As Spider-Man swings overhead, the man from before stands beside his car and takes a picture of him, before lowering his camera, continuing to watch him.
