And here we go :)
Katara and Toph finally managed to make their way through to the battlefield once more after being blown away by Berserker earlier.
Seeing Aang in his full force fighting Berserker and Azula made Katara both glad and sad, she was glad that he's still alive and really delivered on his promise, he returned when they really needed him, and she was sad because of the time wasted, destiny could be really cruel sometimes.
At any case, Katara decided to push the thoughts to the back of her head at the moment as her and Toph finally returned to the battlefield to find the kyoshi warriors and what remains of the firenation army fighting with the new Ozai society.
Katara turned around to look at Toph to find that she was no longer by her side.
"Toph!" She shouted upon seeing her friend charging ferociously at the New Ozai rebels, unleashing a barrage of attacks at them.
Toph used earthbending to jump up and with a loud thud, she landed right in the midst of the new Ozai forces, knocking many of them away, injuring some of them, and some of them weren't as lucky.
Toph continued her attacks, fighting like an untamed beast, she hated to see her friend like that, she succumbed to her hatred and rage, she couldn't blame her though.
Seeing her friends Suki and Ty Lee die that horribly, and atop of that, believing that it's her fault, Katara couldn't say that she was surprised by Toph's behavior.
The waterbender couldn't dwell on it too much, as a new Ozai soldier targeted her and attacked her with a fireball, only for Katara to notice him and deflected the fireball, she used the water in her pouch to create a water whip and knocked the soldier out.
"Don't go easy on them, Sugar Queen. This is how you kill a firenation soldier!" Toph said from the corner, as she lifted a boulder and slammed it down on the firenation soldier's head.
Katara was shocked by this, it never occurred to her that Toph's condition could be this bad, attacking a defenseless opponent like this? When did she become so Merciless?
Katara decided to focus on the battle at hand right now, and maybe if they make it out of this alive, she would try to help Toph out of that dark pit she's fallen into.
That wasn't the only fight going on right now, as the ultimate battle between the avatar and the white dragon commenced.
Even in the avatar state, it was really hard for Aang to keep up with Berserker's attacks, he was so fast, so agile, and his wings gave him an advantage, he wasn't using any energy flying, unlike Aang who is using the elemental ball to fly, which is costing him a lot of energy,
But the elemental ball has its own advantage as well, it is shielding The Avatar from Berserker's attacks at the moment, however, it won't prove useful in the long run as the attacks of the white dragon were quite strong, it could cut through the elemental ball.
Aang lands on one of the stone pillars outside of the Caldera City, but suddenly Berserker's fire was quickly on him, so he leapt away and dodged the attacks, barely but even that little force him away.
The White Dragon attacked again, sending a wave of fire from a downward kick, completely showing his athletic abilities and quick resourcefulness, and the fact that he's using Yaketsuku's experience in defeating Avatars to know exactly what could be a crucial hit to the avatar.
Aang jumps to another rock to avoid the attack, and picks up a small part of the rock and sends it toward Berserker with a kick as a way to stall him, Berserker dodges the attack by sending a blast of fire out of his foot.
Aang leaps to the top of another rock to avoid the attack before leaping to land near a waterfall which leads to the ocean, Berserker follows him there, sending yet another fire blast toward Aang.
Aang uses waterbending to send some of the waterfall toward the flames, extinguishing them and causing Berserker to jump back.
After dodging the attack, Berserker then flies back toward The Avatar, using his impressive wings, He shoots a large burst of fire at Aang, but Aang jumps to the top of the waterfall to avoid the attack.
Berserker rockets up after him, and flips forward, shooting fire from both feet, Aang jumps to the other side of the slope to escape the hot flames.
At this point, Avatar Aang decided to let go of the elemental ball to keep the energy flowing, as his energy was getting low and he realized that's exactly what could be the only reason for an avatar to be beaten, to use up all his energy on useless attacks until he's low on energy, he taps out of the avatar state, and that's the end for him.
Aang decided to use his wits to fight Berserker and not just his muscles, and so he let go of the elemental ball and just focused on dodging the attacks of the white dragon.
Berserker flies over to him, using his wings, shooting from his feet, but Aang lands on a boulder, lifting it into the air, He jumps away, only to stop Berserker for a second, distracted by the boulder, He continues to chase Aang, shooting at him with his fiery fist, his fire was stronger than any fire he's ever faced, even stronger than Ozai's fire during Sozin's comet, this might be Aang's biggest challenge yet, but he's adamant to prove that he's capable of defeating it.
Aang spins around, creating a tornado shield that blocks him from the flames, He lands on the side of a rock pillar, and quickly scoots to the other side, only to see Berserker shooting another stream of fire at him, Aang didn't want to jump into the ocean because that would require him using an air ball to keep himself afloat, he decided to keep the fighting on land for the moment.
Aang leaps to another pillar before airbending himself back to the first pillar, He kicks the top of the pillar off, sending it toward Berserker.
To Aang's surprise, Berserker is right behind him, and he sends a ball of fire toward Aang.
Aang raises his hand to block himself from the surprise attack as he is pushed and hits the side of a rock, falling to the ground in pain.
Berserker flies toward him again, and lands on the same ledge as Aang, seeing that Berserker is there, Aang picks himself up, and suddenly earthbends to create rock armor around his body.
The white dragon shoots fists of fire at The Avatar, pushing him around the edge of the ledge, He swings his arm at Aang, sending a wave of fire toward him, but he jumps away leaving the rock armor behind.
Aang suddenly performs a flip backward to shoot a gust of wind at Berserker from the air, Berserker jumps aside to avoid Aang's blast, and begins to shoot lightning.
Aang's eyes widened as he realized that Berserker has widened his range of attack, the lightening he was shooting wasn't just any normal lightening that he's experienced from Ozai or Azula, it was lightening that comes in huge waves, like a huge ocean wave coming to consume you, but it's electrical waves.
Aang is grasping on to the side of a rock, seemingly terrified, he dodges a shot of lightening, which was followed by another, Aang then decided dodging the attacks weren't enough, he had to deflect it.
But he's never worked with such a huge wave of lightening before, he was terrified to do it, but he had no other option.
He suddenly tapped out of the avatar state, to keep the avatar cycle safe in case of his failure to redirect this wave of lightening.
"Let's do this…" Aang whispered to himself.
Just when the lightning is about to strike him, he quickly swings his arm around to create another tornado shield.
He jumps up, and flies to the top of a rock where Berserker attempts to shoot a lightning bolt at him, but misses.
After the failed attempt, he continues shooting blasts at Aang, to which he lifts the top of a rock and dodges in order to evade, He suddenly rolls forward, just as Berserker sends another blast of lightning toward him.
In a swift move, Aang extends his hands, and uses his index and middle finger to catch the lightening wave, it was too strong, too much for Aang's mortal, frail body, but he used all of his willpower to take it in.
Berserker was astonished, he just kept gawking at the avatar in fear, he couldn't believe that he could be this powerful even outside of the avatar state.
Aang begins to redirect the lightning, pointing it towards the terrified Berserker.
Just at this moment, Aang remembered Ozai.
The Avatar then hesitated to strike Berserker, and so he sends the bolt into the orange sky instead, The Avatar then falls to the ground, exhausted from straining to hold the energy from the huge lightning wave.
Mimicking the reaction from Ozai to that same gesture of kindness and mercy from Aang before, Berserker smiles, sensing he has the upper-hand, and performs a spin-kick of fire toward Aang, who raises the ground to protect himself from the fire blast.
He is thrown off the rock from the impact and is falling toward the water below him. Just at this moment, The Avatar realized that he's tapped out of the avatar state, so he decided to lock it in one more time, his eyes glowed white and he returned to the battlefield, with an elemental ball around him.
Berserker was astonished by Aang's quick comeback, but he smiled once more, extending his wings and lifting himself up to the sky.
They both charged at each other and The Avatar and The White Dragon collided once more, as they took their fight to the vast ocean.
She started to feel herself again, after deep struggling, she brought herself up, prompting to bring up her left hand to hold her throbbing head.
Only to realize that there is nothing moving, she turned her head around to look at her left arm, only to realize that it's not even there.
Her eyes widened as she remembered exactly what happened before she fainted, tears welled up in her eyes and she started to cry.
Suddenly, a New Ozai soldier recognized her sobbing.
"Princess Azula, Thank Spirits, you are okay." The soldier said.
At that moment, Azula noticed that she was being protected by the new Ozai society, as Zuko's soldiers were trying to get to Azula to kill her.
Her sobbing stopped, and she looked at her wound, only to notice that it's been closed.
The soldier looked at her and said, "Lord Ukano ordered us to treat your wound before he went away, He found you laid down on the ground unconscious, he brought you here to us and we tried our best to save your life."
Azula was speechless, she couldn't believe that of all people, it was Ukano who saved her life, but in the worst possible moment, as she didn't want to live anyways, she would never imagine herself living without a left arm, she couldn't believe she would have to spend the rest of her life without her full powers.
She was snapped out of her daze by the sight of the kyoshi warriors and the remainder of Zuko's soldiers advancing towards her, the soldier that was attending to her returned back to his place.
"Princess Azula, Run!" The soldier said.
Azula couldn't believe what's gotten into her, but the moment she heard the word, she started to run, she couldn't believe she would run away from such weak opponents, but now, she's the weaker one, she realized, and so she had to run.
She ran away crying her eyes out, trying to find safety.
Mai was in the stables, sitting beside an injured Zuko, who was laying there with bruises all over his body, she was worried over her unconscious boyfriend, but she knew he was stronger than that, and that he'd recover and become stronger than ever.
She was glad Aang brought him back to her alive and well, hadn't been for the avatar, her boyfriend would have paid the ultimate price for his stupidity.
She never favored his decision to go bring Aang back alone, she hated the fact that he went on with his plan without telling her, but she was just glad he came back in one piece.
She laid there beside him, with Appa and Momo, waiting for him to wake up.
Suddenly, she heard movement at the entrance of the stables, she withdrew her knives out quickly and threw them at the place she heard the movements coming from.
The two knives went on both sides of the intruder's face, barely missing his ears.
Mai never misses, and she meant for the knives to barely miss his face to threaten him, but once she realized who the intruder was, she was thankful to herself for not attempting to murder him right away.
As she realized the intruder was none other than her dear father.
"Dad?" Mai questioned, standing up to face him.
"You missed your mark." Ukano said, referring to the knives that barely missed his face.
"I don't think I did, that was meant as a threat, but you know what? You're right, I should have aimed for your face." Mai responded, feeling irate at her father.
Ukano sighed, "What do I have to do to make you see my point of view? This man isn't fit to run this nation, he's a traitor, and traitors are good for nothing but humiliation. And he's showing it quite clearly. draining our national treasuries to do charity works for other nations, with the latest being the southern watertribe, what do we owe the southern watertribe to do their work for them, huh?"
"We owe them a lot, Dad. A lot. You must have forgotten that we're the reason they are in need for repairs." Mai responded to her father.
"We owe them nothing. They refused progression, they deserved what was coming for them. And besides, it wasn't us who destroyed the southern watertribe, the southern watertribe was destroyed from before I was born."
"And we would have done it again if it were otherwise, Dad. What Zuko is trying to do is to restore the honor of the firenation, something that's been destroyed by all three firelords before him. he's trying to gain the approval of world leaders to make the world accept the firenation once again, he's as important as the avatar when it comes to restoring balance to the world, he's a good man, and I love him so much for it, I'll keep fighting for him until I die." Mai said, her face showing genuine love for her boyfriend who is sleeping on Appa's tail right behind her.
Ukano saw genuine emotions crossing over Mai's face, her words moved him, he sighed and looked at the ground, he closed his eyes to contemplate the situation, unable to find a solution to make them spare his daughter.
He then brought his face up and smiled at her, something that shocked Mai,
"You have no idea how proud I am of you right now." Ukano said.
Just as he said saw, Azula was standing behind him.
"You traitor." She said, as she was standing at the entrance of the stables.
Ukano heard her voice and instinctively stood right in front of his daughter, to protect her from Azula.
Only to have his face filled with shock when he saw that she has only one arm right now.
He looked at Mai to find her expression mirroring his, but hers was more sad than just shocked.
"Azula… What the…?" Mai stuttered as she saw her former friend without a left arm.
Azula was enraged by the look of pity Mai was giving her, "Don't you dare pity me, you traitor!" The princess said, as she launched a sudden fire attack at Mai, only to find Ukano standing in front of Mai and snuffs out the fire completely, it was a weak attack that Mai could deflected, but Ukano taking the initiative to defend his daughter meant so much to Mai, but she decided not to show it right now.
Azula took notice of the person right behind Mai, "Oh, here's our dear Zuzu." Azula said, her voice sounding menacing.
Mai took a fighting stance once more, "Don't you dare touch him, Azula."
Azula was preoccupied with something else, she felt curious to ask, "What's wrong with him?" She asked, looking deeply curious to find out what happened to Zuko, and why he's so bruised and apparently unconscious too.
"It's none of your concern, and after that… injury of yours… I suggest you take your forces and leave, enough blood has been spilled this night." Mai said, unable to word out the specific injury of Azula as it was so horrible to even look at.
Azula's rage doubled by Mai's words, as she felt Mai was pitying her again,
"Even with one arm, I can take you both down easily."
"My daughter is right, Azula. I think we've done enough." Ukano said, making Azula's face shocked.
"I thought it was just love for your daughter that made you turn on us, but it turns out you're a full-blown traitor now. Congrats, Ukano. You've booked yourself a ticket to hell, and trust me when I tell you that I'll follow you shortly." Azula said, before suddenly attacking Ukano with another strong and fast fire attack that hits his left shoulder and brings him to the ground with a scream of agony.
"DAD!" Mai shouted as she saw the scene unfold.
Mai then allowed hatred and anger to consume her, it was all over her face as she was looking at Azula.
The Princess returned her look with the same intensity, both girls staring each other off.
"It's time you follow Ty Lee to the grave, Bitch." Azula said at her former friend.
Adding even more hatred and anger to Mai, she knew Zuko would never approve of this, but at this point, she felt helpless and defenseless to her hatred of Azula, and so she let herself by consumed by it.
Mai sent her knives flying at her former best friend, and the two girls started the fight.
