[Energy Drain] was an 8th tier necromantic spell that could drain levels and the skills related to that level. The necromancer would then use those skills for themselves for a very short period of time.
Satoru found this spell very useful when gathering the necessary amount of XP from the puny goblins and muscular ogres. There were quite a lot of them in the High Moors, which made the elves hesitant about taking over this place. He was curious about the ruins that he found below, but from the words of King Witchthorn, he was aware that the traps were laid in those ruins. Until he became strong enough, he had no hope of going there without the repercussions from the literal goddess of magic, Mystra.
He was currently draining levels from the poor goblin who tried to kill him when he was not looking. The goblin cried and begged for mercy, but Satoru did not see giving it any. He was attacked by these small, ugly creatures through deceit, even though he wanted to make some cordial relations with their tribe for the future. Yet, they cheated on him when he showed trust. They were eyeing his outfits and magic items giddily, like a hungry predator stared at its prey. In his eyes, these goblins did not deserve to be spared. Death was going to be a mercy on them, so he decided to kill them slowly with his [Negative Energy Touch] skill and [Energy Drain] spell.
But he noticed something peculiar about this spell.
Levels,in general, were of two types. Racial Levels and Job Levels.
Where the racial levels denoted the evolutionary stages of one's race, the Job levels denoted the mastery of someone into a specific field or profession.
The more levels he absorbed, the more devolved they went. Both in terms of evolution and profession of that person.
"Hmm, did I level up?" Satoru muttered the question in surprise.
He dropped the mangled body of the goblin and watched his own body with curiosity. It was his first time to level up in the Faerun and he felt better than before. Not wanted to waste this opportunity, he opened his status right away. Thankfully, the status report were unique to the player and could not be seen by a third party.
Status Report :
Name : Momonga
Total Levels : 101
Racial Levels : 40
Job Levels : 60
Extra Level : 1
Satoru blinked at what he was watching. To think that he would gain 1 extra level in this world, he was truly amazed and terrified at the same time.
Amazed, because this opened a whole lot more freedom for classes and abilities. He could even add new classes for further optimization. Just like humanoid players, who had a lot more options for job levels.
Terrified because now he understood that he was not the strongest one. If he could level up in this world, by killing a massive population of monsters of High Moors, then what about those who lived longer than him in this world and killed far many creatures on their own. Satoru realized his limits very well and did not consider himself very strong. But what if he stumbled into a stronger opponent than him and got himself defeated by them instead.
"I am in trouble..." He thought to himself and stared back at the dropped goblin. If he wanted to become strong and defeat tge dragon goddess, then it should be necessary for him to stay down and gather levels as much as he could. Without wasting anytime, he quickly drained the goblin as well, leaving nothing except its rags and weapons at the place of goblin.
He quickly decided to put that extra level in his [Necromancy] job class. While the racial levels were limited to 45, there was no limitation in the Job levels. On top of that, he needed those levels to become strong enough to face the future challengers too.
"Woah... what is this feeling?"
Suddenly, a surge of negative energy filled his entirety like a flood of power coursed from head to toe, changing something inside of him.
Three new spells filled his head and one Super Tier spell was added into his arsenal. It was a huge accomplishment that he could not describe in mere words. For every player, the most important part of their journey was to level up at the highest stage of their status. At that stage, the leveling up became very slow and the new classes could not be unlocked.
Normally, he would rather not waste this extra level in Necromancy, but as his class build was solely revolved around role-playing around death magic, it was the right choice. Not only his Necromancy class would boost up his already strong death magic, his racial skills had become stronger than before too.
He could feel that his Aura of Despair had increased in AOE, and his Undead creation skills had been lengthened.
"Hmm, Witchthorn also said something about his disciple being in Waterdeep city. He asked me to look for him as he might have some good amount of knowledge on the magic system of this world. I shall give this one a visit as well."
With that said, Satoru flew high in the sky and vanished.
Sorry, if this chapter is short. Life is going upside down here.
This chapter seemed important enough as Satoru's evolution in the Faerun was going to be affected by the World he was in.
Again, I may take time to release new chapters. But do not worry, the next chapter will cover the Waterdeep city and some new characters.
Besides, i have some questions regarding Satoru.
Should I add a companion in his journey as well, or let him travel alone? Can you please share your thoughts.
