Chapter 11 When Animals Attack (Plagued & Swarming Attack)
A.N. – First combination chapter! Seems fitting. The first short summary is for plagued and the second is for swarming attack. Let's begin!
Short Summary – When Aelita suggests a new way of attacking the warriors, Xana takes things a step too far. When nightfall happens, the full scale of the attack is realized and Aelita might decide to reveal another secret of hers to the warriors.
Short Summary – After Aelita betrays Xana in the most recent attack, Xana decides to use her idea, but with a deadlier spin on it. But when Aelita finds out, she finds herself at a crossroads between her alliance to Xana and loyalty to the warriors.

Aelita was sitting in her private abode, completely at a loss for ideas. Xana was expecting an attack, but Aelita was drawing all blanks. She couldn't let Xana take the reigns as he would move into a life-or-death scenario. Aelita saw something in her home that she had never seen before. A memory of a small mouse.
"A mouse? Did we have mice back then?" Aelita said thinking. If they did, her mom and dad hid it very well. Either that or it was something she couldn't remember but the simulation bubble drew it for the far reaches of her memory. But the mouse gave her an idea. "You little friend, have given me an idea."
In a storage room, a rat climbs up from the sewers and sets his sights of apples. As the rat walks past an electrical outlet, the outlet sparks as a ghost of Xana appears. The ghost approaches the rat, and then pins it down as the ghost enters its body. A few seconds later the rat opens its eyes and reveals the sign of Xana…
Aelita hopes the idea she proposed to Xana goes well. A weak attack like this will not only piss off Xana but probably force him to attack her. The only hope that she has is that Xana sees the potential in it. She sees the group all in low spirits.
"Hey guys, anything new?" Aelita asks.
"Einstein here might be gifted" Odd says.
Aelita was not surprised. When she and Jeremy both graduated, they both were awarded honor awards and full paid scholarships to the most prestigious schools in Paris. She always knew Jeremy was special, but he never brought this up with her. Maybe because it was only a one-time thing.
"So? That's a good thing, isn't it?"
"It would be, if they weren't considering sending Jeremy to a special school for gifted children" Ulrich responds.
'So, this is why he never brought it up. Touching subject. Almost lost me and contact with his friends.' "So, when are they thinking of moving him?"
"Soon, but first he must prove he's special by taking some kind of test. If they come back with a good enough result, all of Jeremy's records will be transferred along with him."
'If Xana were to know about this, it would benefit him, but I need current Aelita here for my plan to work.' "When's the test?"
"Tonight" Jeremy responds in a low tone.
'Oh great. I messed up this time.' "I got to go. I'll see you guys later."
Aelita ran off, knowing this was an issue. She only hopes that Xana has not done something that will cause issues.
In the sewers, the rat returns, and the others screech at him. The rat attacks and bites the others and spreads the virus. The newly Xanafied rats continue to attack and grow an army. A few hours later, the original possessed one is surrounded by hundreds of others and now Xana has enough to attack…
The day passes by for everybody and Aelita goes to check on everything. Since Xana was quiet through the day, she knew that he would do something tonight. The students all filter out into the cafeteria for dinner. All seems to be going well until the lights are all cut out. Aelita was in shock over this, thinking this could be Xana's doing.
"I thought we agreed on animals, not power failures," Aelita says in annoyance. Aelita hears sounds coming from the girl's floor of the dormitory, but then some screams and shouts from the cafeteria. She goes to the window and sees the army of rats attacking. "Okay, that answers that question."
Odd notices Aelita outside. "It's A!"
"What's going on in there?"
"What do you think? Looks like Xana though" Ulrich responds.
"Get out of there fast!"
"Would love too. Got any ideas?"
"One, but you have to find an alternative until I'm ready."
Ulrich eyes the extinguishers. "We got one. Do what you gotta do."
Aelita runs off into the woods and activates her Lyoko band and transforms into her fallen angel avatar. She activates her wings and takes off. The students get cornered as the extinguisher runs out of fuel. The rats close in on them. "Energy field!" An energy orb comes down from the sky, knocking out a pile of rats. Aelita then lands in front of them.
"A?!" Odd asks.
"The one and only," Aelita responds. "Listen, ask questions later. Right now, get into the science building."
The students all pile into the building and head to the roof as Aelita fires more orbs to keep the rats at bay. She closes the door and is looked at by the others in awe. They would think of her as a guardian angel, if her avatar didn't have a dark feel to it. "Where's Jeremy?"
"Still taking his test" Ulrich answers.
"I'm pretty sure Xana is targeting him too. Where is he?"
"In the library" Odd says.
"Listen you three find a way to the factory. I'll get Jeremy."
When all of them reach the roof, Aelita reactivates her wings and flies to the library window and finds a couple of stunned rats. She opens the window.
"Who are you?" the school counselor asks.
"That's none of your concern. Where's Jeremy?"
"He went to go grab something."
Just as he finishes, Jeremy comes back. "A? What are you doing here? And what are you doing in your Lyoko avatar form?"
"Just call this a helping hand. Do what you gotta do and we'll get to the factory." Jeremy tells the counselor what to do if the rats get through and Aelita puts her arms under Jeremy's and flies him to the factory. "Hang on tight. This might get a little bumpy." She lands Jeremy in front of the factory bridge and sees it lined with rats.
"Together?" Jeremy asks.
"Sure."
Aelita holds out her hands and Jeremy readies the camera flash.
"Smile" they say in unison as the light flashes.
The two step into the lab and find that the others were virtualized too far, but they eventually did reach current Aelita.
"Oh, good you two are here. Xana has changed the plateau and they others at a disadvantage" Yumi informs the two.
"I'm going in" Aelita states.
"How?" Jeremy asks.
Aelita taps her bracelet and is back to normal. "Virtualize me." The others are struggling against the krabs as they are down to a few life points. A krab approaches but is struck with an energy field. Aelita lands where the others are. "Can you two defend me? I'm going to take Aelita to the top and the tower."
"Do it. We'll get their attention" Odd asks.
Aelita then takes her current self and flies upward. The krabs target her but Odd fires at them getting their attention back. Aelita puts her current self down. "Milady's tower awaits" Aelita gestures to it. Aelita enters the tower and sees it deactivated and waits for the return to the past.
The whole group, including A, were in the lab discussing the events of the attack. Jeremy was first to speak.
"Ok, so to address the issue, what gives you the ability to do what you just did?" Jeremy asks.
"My bracelet. It's called a Lyoko band. It's what allows me to access my Lyoko avatar on Earth" Aelita answers.
"This does explain how you were able to track the bus so easily when Xana controlled it."
"It was my first time doing it. At the time it was made, the 'turning into Lyoko avatar' feature was still in experimental mode. But we were pressed for time, so it was a proper test."
"When was this created?" Yumi asks.
"Never known. I was chosen for an experiment, was scanned, and then tested these bands. One day the testing stopped without warning and then I just had this laying around. Once I found out that the supercomputer turned back on, I grabbed this in case the people were back."
"That's not it's only feature, is it?" Odd asks, hoping she'll tell them about what he saw.
Aelita sighs. "It also allows me to teleport between Earth and Lyoko, but the person must be human. No computer programs." Aelita knew that if she had an instant way to rematerialize her past self now, it would put a major dent in the timeline. She needed him to find the Code Earth program.
"So, Odd was telling the truth?" Ulrich says.
"I'm sorry I kept this from you, but the less you knew the better."
"Don't worry about it. At least we know that Xana can't escape using your device" Yumi chimes in.
They all smile, but Aelita puts on a fake one. Xana could use this, but just like she needs Jeremy to create Code Earth, she needs Xana to obtain the keys.
Swarming Attack
Xana's Point of View
Xana was furious at Aelita for taking matters into her own hands. This week, he was gonna use her idea, but he would put his own spin on it. At this time, he was activating a tower and he saw a bee land in the science lab. He sent one of his ghosts to take the bee for himself. He knew these insects carry venom in their stinger that if enough is injected could prove fatal. With the bee under his control, he went after the hive.
Aelita's Point of View
Aelita was trying to think of the attack. When she tried to contact Xana, she couldn't contact him. She went to Earth and activated her super scanner from her laptop. She then saw that a tower was activated. She was now concerned about what Xana was planning. She started reading Jeremy's diary to find out what Xana was up to.
Xana's Point of View
Xana used the mind of the bee to find the hive. He entered the hive and then went infecting the bees by stinging the venom into it. The hive started to shake as more and more bees became infected and eventually the queen was under Xana's control…
Aelita's Point of View
Aelita just finished the chapter about rats. She started to read the next chapter and knew that this was Xana's attack. She started reading.
"Today Xana infected multiple bees and attacked the school and blocked access to the factory. We were able to access the factory using one of my machines and luckily no one was injured or severely allergic to bees," Aelita finished. "Bees. Enough stings and it could…kill someone...Oh no!"
Aelita rushed out as she went to go warn the others. But she was too late. She came out seeing the gardener under attack. The warriors went to go save him and then the bees started chasing after them. The bees even started chasing Aelita. She then decided to follow Ulrich.
"What are you doing?" Ulrich asks.
"Same as you. Trying to avoid getting stung" Aelita responds.
Eventually Yumi came and pushed them both out of the way. The three of them entered the science building and were able to stop the bees. Aelita was in shock of why Xana was targeting her. She started to think he wasn't too happy about what she did with the rats. But there were more important things going on then.
"What's going on?" Yumi asks.
"Take a guess. Xana" Aelita responds.
Aelita was with Jeremy and Odd in the sewers. She was no longer going to help Xana with this attack and assist the warriors on Lyoko but forgot to mention the bees were blocking the entrance.
"Hey Einstein, looks like Xana is blocking our only way out," Odd points out. The bees started to surround them. "Any ideas?"
"Yeah, get out of here as fast as we can" Jeremy responds.
The three of them escape the bees and then jump into the water. They then climb into the pipe.
"Great idea Einstein. Jump into sewer water and then into a smelly pipe" Odd points out.
"He has a point Odd. These bees might be possessed by Xana but they're still sensitive to smells" Aelita points out.
Eventually the bees come by and then leave, not being able to handle the smell. The three climb out and notice they have disappeared completely.
"Well, what do you know" Odd states.
All of them regroup and then the five of them try again to get past the bees using one of Jeremy's robots. The robot starts beeping and due to the intense soundwaves, the bees get confused and stunned in place.
"Pretty clever huh? This machine" Jeremy starts.
"Fascinating, but we better move before something bad happens" Aelita points out as they climb up the ladder.
As Ulrich starts up, the machine suddenly stops. "Hey, your machine stopped why?"
"Battery's dead?" Jeremy suggests.
"WHAT?!" Ulrich screams as the bees go after him. Yumi pulls him up and closes the grate to stop the swarm.
Once in the lab, Jeremy virtualizes the four into the forest sector. They all land and Aelita asks Odd a question. "What's up with Ulrich? He looks kind of off today?"
"Someone sent him a love letter and looks like Romeo here is having trouble wrapping his head around it" Odd asks.
"He believes it was me, but Sissi sent it to him to pull a prank" Yumi adds.
"Let's hope he keeps his head in the game. We can't let Xana hurt anyone" Aelita says knowing this is a revenge attack by Xana.
As the four approach the tower, a swarm of hornets fly in to stop them. Aelita activates her wings to get an air advantage on them. As the four of them fight, they are all having trouble, except Ulrich who is doing nothing. The four of them try to snap him out of it, but Aelita takes another measure.
"Ok Ulrich this has gone on far enough! Time to knock some sense into you!" She slaps him across the face, and he grabs his cheek.
"What was that for?!" Ulrich asks, clearly agitated.
"For acting like a complete idiot over some stupid prank! Get your head into the game! We got an activated tower to deactivate."
Ulrich draws his saber. "Your three head for the tower. I'll take care of them."
"We'll do it together. I got a personal score to settle with Xana."
Ulrich runs up to one and uses his triangulate ability to surround it. The hornet destroys two of the clones and then the real Ulrich goes up from behind. "Impact!" Ulrich says as he destroys the hornet.
Aelita flies in a dive bomb to the hornet. It fires multiple lasers at her as she prepares an energy orb. When she is in firing range, she fires. "Energy field!" She destroys it and then she has the final one following her. She flies towards Ulrich. Ulrich super sprints to her. Aelita ducks and Aelita front flips slicing it in half. Ulrich lands on the ground safely. "Nice to see you back."
Ulrich gives her a high five. "Hope to never leave."
The current Aelita enters the tower and deactivates it. Jeremy launches a return to the past to erase the events of the day.
"You're welcome here to stay with us, you know. If Xana is targeting you, Lyoko may not be the safest place for you" Yumi suggests.
"Sorry, but Lyoko is the place for me. I have personal issues to settle. I'll see you guys soon" Aelita says as she activates her Lyoko door in the lab to show it off to them. She enters and the door closes behind her.
"That is so cool" Odd points out.
"She is one of a kind" Ulrich adds.
Once Aelita enters the mountain sector, she is ambushed by Xana. "You got some nerve going against me. Not only once but twice!"
"The first one was a little different. You messed up the second time!" Aelita fires back.
"I did that attack to remind you who you're messing with."
"And I retaliated to remind you not to fuck with me! You need me more than you think! Remember, you go against anything that I see as undesirable, I will retaliate!"
"You do not have the power you think you have."
"I have more than you think. No matter if you rule this virtual universe or not, the spear is in my hand not yours!"
"I'll let you go for now, but if this is to happen again without a peace offering, you will suffer."
"I can suffer without you."
A.N. – And the end of the first combination chapter ends. I don't know how many of this there will be, but I'm pretty sure there will be a few more.
