The walls of the room were made up of marbles and well-lit setup. It was very spacious, enough for a group of 60 men to sit comfortably. There was one massive table that hosted 5 different members of the Cult of Dragons.
These five were not normal people. They were the leaders of the new faction of the Cult whose main goal was the revival of Tiamat upon the Faerun. To separate themselves from the rest of the chaff, they wore purple robes of the highest quality with jewelleries that all costed them 100,000 gold pieces.
Neronvain, the rider Chith, who maintained the transportation network for the Cult and layout the hidden locations in case they were raided by someone else. He was also a strategist and master of escaping through hurdles.
Galvan, the evocation specialist, whose greatest elemental attacks were that of lightning. He was the strongest wizard of their group with spells above 5th level. As a lich, he had no requirement of food and water.
Rezmir, the black half-dragon of the group, who was also a great fighter. Her physique and elegance in battle with the addition of her Black Dragon Mask, that granted her various resistances against damage, made her a deadly foe. She was known for her melee combat skills and a mating partner of the Black Death — Voaraghamanthar.
Varramzord, the dwarf member of this group, whose physical resilience made him a dangerous addition in terms of defenses. With his White Dragon Mask, he could even travel through the harsh environment of the Northern regions of Faerun without problems. His ability to discern materials and their worth in the market price made him the financial expert of the new faction. He was also the sole designer of their robes and capable of understanding the layouts of underground tunnels, which was very beneficial for traversing through the dangerous regions of Underdark.
And finally, the master of their group — Severin — who brought them all together under this new faction. He was the strongest member of their group in terms of sheer number of cultists he had gotten. Gifted with high charisma and intellect, he reformed the core rules of the Cult into this new faction. Having the most important piece of artifact, he was many times above them the rest of his fellow subjects. Currently, he was equipped with his Red Dragon Mask, whether due to fashion sense or paranoia of losing it. Nobody knew. Not that they cared.
To become the member of these five, one must be loyal to the core rules of the new faction, must know draconic, made a pseudo-dragon into a permanent familar and must contribute something for the cult's existence. Like a sort of fees.
"About the Greenest and Kryptgarden..." Severin asked with the tone of disappointment. It was obvious that he was not satisfied with the result.
Galvan understood thus very well and assured him, "Ah yes, it did not go very well. But I have managed to secure the hoard. We can use it to revive her."
Now it was Neronvain's turn to express his anger, " It's not about that! Those adventurers are alive and it is a matter of time when they figured out our plan. Why did you not kill them?"
His reply made sense and the others nodded in unison. But Galvan was still calm under this pressure. He replied, "Killing them is out of question. If you have read the report clearly, you may have understood that the Blue Roses was founded by that Rigrit and commissioned by the last Platinum Dragon of thus planet. Sure, you do want me to get the ire of thus legendary creature and get us dead before we ever begin our plan. We may have resources, but that dragon has Bahamut on his side. Do you all not understand this much? I have saved you and our plan. Once our Dragon Queen is revived, we will handle those girls as well."
His line of thinking satiated the rest of their curiosity. Yet there were few who had something else to ask.
Rezmir stared at Galvan's face directly and questioned about the whereabouts of Langdedrosa Cyanworth, the blue half-dragon warrior who went to Greenest along with the few of their cult members. Despite the uselessness of those cultists, the loss of Cyanworth was tremendous. As his physical strength at such a young age was highly essential for them.
Galvan shooked his head. As he himself had no idea where he vanished into. His face showed no sign of lying, but Rezemir kept asking him until Varramzord stopped her.
"Chill down will ya? We all are worried of him, but if we just kept questioning him then it would solve nothing. Besides, he fulfilled his part of the plan as well under the pressure of going against the slaves of that Platinum Dragon. We should congratulate him instead of pestering him about a coward's whereabouts."
"But he is not a coward! Langdedrosa is honorable warrior who will fight till death. I am pretty something worse has occurred."
She voiced her opinion as she had no idea of what truly transpired in the Greenest. She was too nusy managing the means of entering the first layer of Nine Hells with Neronvain. So far, she succeeded to maintain a link between herself and the mistress of the first layer — Zariel, the Archduchess of Avernus.
Mass devil summoning happened in all of the bases that Cult owned. Their goal was to gain a method to enter there after the fulfilling the demands of Zariel. Yet, she demanded more sacrifice and rituals for the increment of her devilish army as fast as she could.
Severin heard each of them and found something amiss in these arguments. It was like an unknown element had been causing troubles in their master plan. What this unknown element was, he could not tell. All he had in his hands was the faith over the Dragons Queen. He even asked the Tchazzr to send some of his pupils to further their goals. But who knows, what kind of schemes he was hiding under his divine persona.
But first, he must settle down this quarrel before it went out of hands.
"Fighting over something we have no clue will only cause more troubles in the future. But for your doubts, I can only imprison Galvan in his room. He will not take part in our meetings until the fruition of our goal. And I hope Galvan has no problems as well. Right?"
Galvan nodded, "If it proves my innocence that I am not behind Landedrosa's disappearance, then I have no issues being imprisoned. Just provide me enough books as sitting at one place will be kind of boring."
Everyone except Rezmir laughed at his joke.
"Then, it is settled. What do you say Rezmir?" Severin asked, hoping the discord in the group would finally go away.
"Yes. I don't see any issue with this." Rezmir affirmed and with that the discussion ended.
Satoru, who was traveling to the High Moors, got his servant's reports immediately. He anticipated that the mole he sent in the Cult would be caught. But so far, it did not seem so.
This greatly answered two of his major problems. First, he might be able to gather more in-depth information of the Cult from the insider. That way he had no reasons to raid through the Skyreach Castle. On the other major benefit, he would be sure that the Cult was only known for making liches, not finding the truth of them being dominated by some outsider. It was rather helpful for him.
"Zariel... the fallen angel of Mount Celestia, and a literal demon world as well. This world is sure full of surprises."
Satoru muttered to himself, while walking down the road to the High Moors. He was still far from his destiny, but he could already tell that the world like thus was more massive than the YGGDRASIL he once traversed.
If only his friends were here, it would be awesome.
Now that he thought about, if the Nazarick was here he would be in dilemma on what to choose before. He could only wonder.
The dragons of this world were no different than wyverns. These dragons were not ageless creatures like the lores of YGGDRASIL stated them to be. Rather, the dragons he killed so far, were just long living creatures. After reaching a certain age limit, they started to fall down in mental department and had to either die, or use different means of survival like immortality.
His death spells were so far working well to kill them in one shot. And he was excited to kill even more. Not only their corpses could be sold for more money, but it was highly demanded by rich merchants and nobles. He had already captured that adult blue dragon in the middle of the battle. That dragon became a wonderful guinea pig for his experiments. While he was interested in that short girl as well, he would look up her some other time.
Fortunately, on his way to Moors, he would encounter several dragons to note as well.
Fun Fact : Baldur's Gate 3 happened around 1492 DR. Satoru still has 3 years more before the whole incident.
Not all dragons are mortals in Faerun, there are still some Immortals too. But they do not like to interact with the rest of the world.
