Chapter 19 True Love Shines Through (Routine)
A.N. – My favorite episode of season 1! I was hoping to do a rewriting of this since I started Fanfiction. I don't know why the writers decided to not do anything. EVERYONE wanted something and all we got was disappointment. Well, that changes today!
Short Summary – Aelita sees Ulrich and Yumi's relationship put to the test as Yumi feels Ulrich betrayed her and Ulrich feels Yumi doesn't trust him enough to be himself. She feels like an outsider as the two must bond to survive Xana's latest attack.
Disclaimer – I do not own Code Lyoko or the story idea. I am just a fan of the show, the idea was submitted by James Marshall, and if I was a writer this episode would have a different outcome.
All of the warriors were on Lyoko, trying to stop Xana. Aelita at this time was starting to feel a little exhausted. She had to play two fronts in a war and the warriors won't stop until current Aelita is freed. The group was thinking of a plan to push through Xana's monsters and access the tower.
"It's now or never" Jeremy tells them.
The future Aelita takes flight and the rest of them take their positions. Future Aelita flies in and distracts the two bloks as Yumi and Ulrich move in to defeat them. Odd escorts the current Aelita as a megatank approaches. It opens and aims at the two. It fires but misses. Future Aelita flies in and the monster aims at her. It fires and Aelita throws two orbs at its laser to destroy it. Odd then jumps on it and fires a quick arrow, defeating the monster and clearing the path. Current Aelita enters the tower.
"As always guys, great job!" Jeremy congratulates them.
"Another Xana attack stopped, and another tower deactivated" Odd states.
"Ok, get ready the return in time."
Aelita slumps down onto the couch in her virtual abode. She didn't expect playing both sides would be this tiring. She knew it would take a while to achieve the goal she was after, but everything in between had been exhausting. She sat there for at least an hour and took a power nap to recharge before repeating the day along with the warriors.
Aelita emerges to see the warriors all gathering in their normal spot, along with the other students. When Aelita was on Earth, repeating the day and seeing all the students doing exactly what they were doing before the attack without skipping a beat was always weird. The other thing that was confusing was to them, it was like nothing ever happened. She was wondering how a casualty would affect the world. Would someone cease to exist, or would a whole generation of a family be wiped out? Something she didn't want to think about.
"So, how your day going?" Aelita asks.
"About the same as always, boring and repetitive" Ulrich responds.
"I don't what caused Xana to become more active. Maybe he knows I'm close to materializing Aelita" Jeremy says.
"And he thinks that wearing us down will slow us down?" Yumi says.
"You have no idea" Aelita says quietly, almost like she was mumbling.
Suddenly they see Sissi approaching. Odd imitates her and then he giggles after she says exactly what she said. Ulrich shoots her down like before, and what's even more, he denies exactly what she was going to say before she said it. She walks away, clearly embarrassed.
"A Sissi attack is as bad as a Xana attack and twice as boring" Yumi comments.
"But much more manageable" Aelita adds. She knew Sissi would go to great lengths to get Ulrich, but first she had to get rid of Yumi.
The group all heads to the gates and Ulrich discusses heading, which everyone denies. Jeremy has to work on current Aelita's materialization, Odd has a sleeping session, future Aelita is still recovering from Xana's attack week, and Yumi has homework to do. Feeling dejected, Ulrich walks away in silence. Aelita sees this and feels bad for him, but there's nothing she can do.
Ulrich's Point of View
Ulrich sits in his room with Kiwi, trying to wrap his head around where his life sits. While trying to juggle Xana attacks and school life, his personal life is also suffering blows. His friends don't want to hang out with him, and he feels like he is also losing Yumi. Odd walks in coming back from the showers.
"You know, you should take a shower. It's revitalizing" Odd tells him.
"How was your day?" Ulrich asks already knowing the answer. Odd explains it to him. "That's just it, don't you feel like you had the same exact day?"
"Well, yeah. It's become the norm for us. We go to school, wait for Xana's attack, got to Lyoko and do the 'yoo-hoo it's us' routine and then do it all over."
"'Yoo-hoo, it's us?'" Ulrich questions.
"That's what I call our routine for getting Aelita to the tower."
"This is all too much. School, Lyoko, and then the same thing. Also, this Xana's fifth attack in a week, and this is the fifth time we repeated the same day. I'm also unsure where Yumi and I stand. I get the feeling that she really doesn't like me." He sees Odd has fallen asleep.
Ulrich does take a shower and tries to figure out his current situation. How can he have a normal school day without feeling like it's the same old thing? This, he didn't have an answer for. On his way back, he runs into Emily, who is looking for Jim. Ulrich begins to wonder if Emily likes him or not. He decides that if Yumi won't hang out with him, what harm would hanging out with Emily cause?
Aelita's Point of View
Aelita walks back out after having a nice relaxing day. No Xana, or attack planning. Just peaceful. He sees Ulrich talking with Emily, looking he is a normal kid. She knows Ulrich wouldn't abandon the group. But if she makes him happy instead of miserable, she can do nothing but feel happy for them. Yumi also arrives a few minutes after Aelita and is clearly frustrated by Ulrich hanging out with Emily.
"Hello? What kind of game does he think he's playing?" Yumi questions.
"What? He's just talking to her. You jealous?" Odd asks.
"What? Me, jealous of Emily, no way!" Yumi denies. "Besides, she's a year older than him and that's a lot."
"And so are you," Jeremy adds. "I guess you just forgot."
"So? It's not the same thing! I'm Ulrich's girlfriend! I mean I'm his good friend!" Yumi quickly retracks her previous statement.
"I don't see why you're getting so worked up about him talking to another girl. He can have other friends besides us. Plus, it's not like they're kissing or hugging. What about you Jeremy? Once you materialize Aelita, would get mad if saw her talking to another guy?" Aelita questions him. He didn't care that much in the future, and he mostly became friends with whoever Aelita talked to.
He blushes and stumbles to answer. "Uh, I, uh, I'm not sure. Probably not."
"You guys are hopeless! He's playing some kind of game and once I find out, he's going to pay!" Yumi says with anger in her voice as she storms away.
"That was a little bit overboard, don't you think?" Odd asks.
"Maybe Yumi really does have feelings for Ulrich. She just can't express them properly" Aelita concludes.
Suddenly, Jeremy's laptop goes off and the current Aelita appears on the screen. "Jeremy! It's Xana! He's launched another attack! There are some strong pulsations in the desert sector!"
"Uh no, not again!" Jeremy responds. "We'll be right over! Let's go!"
"I'll meet you over there! Inform Romeo & Juliet." Aelita sneaks away to the forest to find out what Xana has done this time. She enters through the Lyoko door. "Okay Xana, get out here!"
"Problems?" Xana asks.
"What have you done?"
"What you failed to do. If Aelita is close to being materialized, the more we can slow them down, the less chance Jeremy has to materialize her."
"Let me handle slowing them down. Stop this attack now!"
"Oh, too late for that."
"What did you do?"
"You'll find out soon enough."
Xana disappears and Aelita returns to the real world.
The group is all in the lab, trying to figure out what Xana was planning. Even Aelita didn't' know, while Yumi and Ulrich seem to have some hostility between them. She really wonders what happened while she talked to Xana.
"Everything seems okay here. Nothing unusual" Jeremy comments.
"No monsters here yet. The only sign is the pulsations" current Aelita reports.
"I wonder what's Xana's tactic here…?" Jeremy wonders.
"What of it's not something that's coming after us but that something that's attacking us directly. Maybe Xana's using Emily to mess with us" Odd suggests.
Ulrich was about to say something, but Aelita stops him. "Ulrich, shut it!" Ulrich just huffs in response. "Even if Odd was on to something, Xana can't do anything to humans."
"Well, maybe one of you should go to Lyoko. Lure him out" Jeremy suggests. "Any takers?"
They all remain silent. Aelita is worried for all of them if Xana is planning to trap them. Aelita was not involved in this attack, so she's just as lost as them. It was at this point Ulrich and Yumi started arguing by suggesting the other should go to Lyoko. Aelita had just enough along with Jeremy.
"Look, I'm getting tired of this!"
"Me too! All of us are going to Lyoko! Down to the scanners now!" Aelita demands.
"Thanks for the help" Jeremy thanks her.
"I know you'd do the same for me."
"Aelita, help is on the way. Just be careful of Ulrich and Yumi."
"Don't worry Jeremy. I'll try to stay out of this little conflict of theirs" current Aelita responds.
The three of them are all virtualized first and then A goes last. As she lands she sees Ulrich and Yumi looking away from each other and her current self running up to them.
"Hey Aelita. There was a bug during the transfer with all of them are they-" Jeremy starts.
"No problems over her. All present and accounted for" current Aelita tells him.
"But what happened to us?" A asks.
"I don't know, unless…maybe Xana has something to do with it" Jeremy concludes.
"But why would he infect himself.? It makes no sense" Odd asks.
"Maybe I can look into it in the tower. If the three of you don't blow each other away," current Aelita says as she runs to a deactivated tower. After she appears a kankerlot approaches. Odd goes to confront it. "Jeremy, I'm into the programs. Strange, the program is full of Xana's monsters. Jeremy, they're all trapped! Xana modified the devirtualizations program!"
"Odd, watch out. This monster could finish you for good!" Jeremy warns him.
They both fire at the same time and both get hit. "Jeremy, what's happening?" Ulrich asks.
"Xana's monsters can prove fatal to you. You're now all at the same risk as Aelita."
"So, that's what he meant. It was all a trap" A says quietly.
"And Odd's life points have been cut in half!"
"So, Xana's monsters finally have some fight in them."
"And that means we gotta be more careful" Yumi adds.
"The only way we're going to survive this nightmare is if Aelita can deactivate the tower. Xana ain't gonna let us leave."
"But can't you?" Odd asks.
"If my virtual avatar is also affected, I don't know if my Lyoko band will allow me safe passage back to Earth." A was uncertain how her avatar reacted if Xana was to ever tamper with their virtual avatars. Also, Jeremy never got to test them with inactive viruses to see if anything would happen.
"Listen, we got to deactivate the tower. It may be the only way to save all of you" current Aelita says.
"Right, that's the safest bet. Get to the tower" Jeremy tells them.
Moments later, they all arrive at the tower. And now with the rules changed, Xana has pulled out his toughest monsters, two megatanks and two krabs. "Heavy hitters" A comments.
"Okay. Girls take the krabs and us boys will take the megatanks" Ulrich commands.
"Uh Ulrich, I want to…" Yumi starts.
Ulrich knew what she was trying to say. "Good luck Yumi."
The four run off the confront the monsters. "Follow my lead Yumi!" A commands. The two of them split off and while Yumi is hit, A slides under her krab. "Energy field!" She fires a quick orb and covers her face before the monster explodes. The two megatanks are destroyed quickly by the boys. A krab aims at current Aelita then fires at Yumi, which knocks her back but also destroys the krab. Yumi flies through the air and she was about to fall into the digital sea. A does see Ulrich grab her. She then looks to see her current self enter the tower safely. But then she looks back to the two and just before the tower is deactivated, she sees their lips touch, finally having their first kiss.
Everyone is back in the courtyard to repeat the day again, the same old routine. Yumi this time was smiling, and Aelita was also smiling for them. "So, interesting times on Lyoko huh?" Aelita asks.
"What do you mean?" Yumi asks, blushing a little.
"Don't try to play stupid with me. I saw you two."
"Just don't tell the others."
"Promise. Girl code." Sissi walks up to Yumi at this point and Aelita sees Sissi's dirty trick. She understands why Yumi was so mad at Ulrich now. The only difference is her trick blows up in her face. "Okay, I gotta head back. You two lovebirds got some things to discuss." Aelita heads off to the forest.
Ulrich's Point of View
"She knows?" Ulrich asks.
"Yeah, but she promised not to tell" Yumi responds.
"I thought no one saw us."
"Be glad Odd didn't see it. Speaking of, maybe you shouldn't say anything, at least not yet."
"Sure, promise. Not a word."
The bell rings signaling the start of the next class. "Come on Ulrich, we got Ms. Hertz's class one more time" Jeremy says.
"Well, it wasn't as boring this time on Lyoko was it Ulrich?" Odd asks.
"Not this time Odd. And I learned something too. Something super important."
Odd's Point of View
Yumi has learned that her parents are going to be going away for a weekend soon, and Odd, being the party tycoon, suggests having a party. He promises to bring a DJ and he asks around for someone who knows how to bring good music. Someone refers him to Samantha Knight. He asks how to find her, and one tells him that she could talk to her as the girl is good friends with her.
He waits at the edge of the forest for Sam to show up. She shows up and Odd is stunned by her appearance. She has a little red in her black hair. Her skin was dark, and she was wearing a grey t-shirt. Along with it, she also has a plaid skirt and dark pants. "You Odd?" She asks.
"Yeah. I'm guessing your Sam?" Odd asks.
"Yeah. I hear you're looking for a DJ?"
"Yeah, for a party I'm throwing next weekend."
"Don't worry. I can provide with some of the best music around."
"That's great. Uh, would you like to go for a walk?"
"Sure, I got nothing else going on."
Odd was stunned to find a nice-looking girl when he was just looking for a DJ. He hoped that he could grow closer to her over the next week and maybe this party of his could be the start of a long-term relationship…
