Chapter 21 The Wrath of Xana (Ghost Channel)
A.N. – So, this episode falls into number 2 as my favorite episodes of season 1. There is another one way down the road that falls in av overall number 1. But that's for another time, so let's begin! PS, multiple point of view change.
Short Summary – After another successful mission on Lyoko, Aelita finds that she can no longer access Lyoko or her Lyoko avatar. She thinks this may be a malfunction, but as more strange events occur, she begins to suspect that they may not be in the real world.

The Lyoko Warriors all stand in the ice sector, seeing a number of bloks blocking an activated tower. Aelita this time was instructed to be on Lyoko by Xana but was not given a reason. Aelita decides to grab their attention. She flies in and destroys one. The remaining one's fire at her allowing Ulrich to move in.
"Impact!" Ulrich says as he destroys another one and then they turn to fire at him.
"A, get back and help Yumi. Odd's gonna try to get Aelita to the tower" Jeremy informs her.
"On it" A responds before flying back. As Yumi struggles to hold on, A flies in and destroys it.
"Thanks for the save" Yumi tells her.
"No problem."
Odd runs at the remaining blok and is taking lasers. "Odd, be careful! You only got 10 life points left!" Jeremy warns him. He slides and fires three arrows, destroying the final blok.
"Piece of cake. Hey Jeremy, next time just sit back and enjoy the show while the real pros do the work" Odd says jokingly, but Jeremy's silence says he took it too literally. All of the others are silent too.
"I'll go take care of the tower" current Aelita states, feeling the tension in the air.
"Hey, take it easy. I was kidding! I didn't mean it! Hey Einstein, you hear me, it was a joke!"
"Sometimes you can be really inconsiderate" A states, knowing how Odd's jokes can be offensive, even if they're not meant to be.
"Return to the past now" Jeremy says as time is reversed.
Jeremy's Point of View
Ms. Hertz is taking attendance and Jeremy turns to say something to Odd and Ulrich. "Hey, great work guys. You were better than ever. No hard feelings Odd. It was-" Jeremy is stunned to not see not any of them there.
Aelita's Point of View
Aelita was still confused as to why Xana wanted her on Lyoko. The attack was non-lethal and Aelita could have just hung back. Maybe he was just testing her fighting skills. She headed to the forest and decided to just wait for the next move and prepare on how to get Aelita's memories without the Scyphozoa. But when she tried to access her Lyoko door, it wouldn't open. She was confused as it never malfunctions. Jeremy in the future even made sure that they would never fail in case of emergency. She decided to explore around Kadic for today.
Jeremy's Point of View
Jeremy bursts out of his class and checks to see if Yumi was there. She has also vanished. As for A, Jeremy didn't know if she vanished. He rushes up to his room to see in they're with Aelita. "Aelita, tell me the others are with you" he asks.
"Why? They didn't come back from Lyoko?" She asks.
Yeah, except for A, but she could be on Lyoko for all I know. Something must've happened during the last return trip!"
"Calm down Jeremy. Have a look at the scanners and I'll scan Lyoko."
"Good idea, I'll go see."
He turns around to see Jim standing in his doorway. Current Aelita gasps before logging off.
"You mind telling me what you're doing here?" Jim asks, knowing that dorms are off limits during the day.
Aelita's Point of View
Aelita met up with the others because she couldn't access Lyoko. She couldn't even ask Xana what the purpose of the last attack was. She sees Ulrich and Odd there. "Hey you guys" Aelita greets them.
"Don't tell me Xana's back" Odd says.
"No, but there is something really strange going on."
"Hey, you guys. Have you noticed anything weird going on?" Yumi asks.
"No, same as ever. Except Jeremy is giving us the cold shoulder" Odd says.
"After what you said, not surprised" Aelita says.
"A here just said something weird has happened" Ulrich adds.
"Such as?" Yumi asks.
"I can't access my Lyoko door. Here take a look" Aelita tries to open it but finds the same results as before.
"Could just be malfunctioning" Ulrich responds.
"No, the man who gave this to me made sure that these things were malfunction-proof."
"It's strange that you say that, because something really weird happened during English. It only lasted for a second, but it was like a record player skipping or something" Yumi comments.
"And you're thinking Xana is behind it?" Ulrich asks.
They look at A. "Don't look at me. If I can't access Lyoko, Jeremy is the only one who would know and if he's silent then that also means Xana is too."
"What makes you say that?" Odd asks.
"Even if Jeremy is mad at Odd, he knows that Aelita can't make alone on Lyoko."
"Good point" Yumi says.
Current Aelita's Point of View
The current Aelita sits atop a rock in the mountain sector, trying to sense the others digital signals. But instead, she hears thumping. "Pulsations. Xana…"
Jeremy's Point of View
Jeremy was being interrogated about his friend's disappearances. "I'm only going to ask this one more time. Do you know what happened to Yumi, Odd, or Ulrich?" The principal asks.
"No sir, I…" Jeremy was at a lost as he even didn't know where they were.
"I'm sure you can imagine their parents are worried sick!"
"But I told you, I don't know where they are!" Jeremy's laptop starts to go off signaling Aelita is trying to contact him.
"Think about it please. The smallest clue could prove to be a great help. Your four are always together."
"Alright sir, I'll think about it. But I need to be alone." Jeremy goes into the closet and sets up a communication with Aelita. "Anything new?"
"They're not on Lyoko. But the worst part of it all is that Xana seems to be active. I felt pulsations but I couldn't seem to locate the tower. I need you at the factory." Aelita tells him.
"Impossible! I'm stuck in the principal's office."
"Don't worry. I can help. Just listen to my instructions carefully."
Jeremy then heads back to tell them he knows where they are.
Aelita's Point of View
Aelita was in her current self's future room looking over her Lyoko band with some tools she borrowed from the school's shop classes. As She examined all pieces, she saw no component malfunctioning, which made the mystery of why she couldn't access Lyoko even more mysterious. She put the Lyoko band back together and returned the tools before anyone noticed. "Okay. The only answer I can get now is at the factory." She headed off to investigate.
Jeremy's Point of View
Jeremy led Jim and Delmas to the boiler room. At this time, Aelita launches her plan, and the distraction allows Jeremy enough time to slip away into the boiler room secret passage. As he gets to the factory, he investigates the scanners and finds no evidence of them. "Aelita? They're not there. I don't know where they are."
"Hold on. Just before you got here I captured this soundbite. A weird type of communication. I'll bring it up" Aelita tells him as she opens a communication window.
He sees Jim lead a gym class outside. "Wow? They can't be back on Earth could they?"
"Hold on. I go this one as well."
He then sees A running through the city. "So, A is also there too. No wonder she didn't show up."
"What if these two videos are recordings, happening somewhere right now on Lyoko."
"So that's what A is doing. If she's on a fake Earth, she won't be able to access Lyoko through her Lyoko band. She is searching for answers."
"If they're not here or there, there has to be a parallel universe that exists, but none does."
"Unless Xana lured them into a trap, with the last activated tower. He trapped them to get them out of the way. Whatever Xana has been planning, he can now do with the others living in an illusion! The only one who can convince them is A, but she might not have a chance to do so before Xana eliminates her! Do you know where the signal is coming from?"
"No, Xana masked it. He wants to keep them there."
"Well, the recording you have still has some kind of coordinate in it. You'll have to virtualize me."
"But Jeremy, if Xana captures you, he'll win."
"It's a risk we'll have to take. If A can't tell them in time, then I have too. Xana must not win. But one more thing. If I were entering a virtual world, I'd rather enter with you there waiting on the other side."
"So would I."
Jeremy enters the scanner as Aelita completes the procedure. Jeremy lands as himself in the fake version of Earth. "Aelita, can you hear me? Oh no, that'd be crazy." Jeremy runs off unaware that he is being watched…
Aelita's Point of View
Aelita is at the lab, and she is searching the supercomputer but finds out she is unable to access Lyoko. She phones the others via the computer. She phones Yumi first. "Hello?" Yumi answers.
"Yumi, it's A. Listen come to the lab immediately. I may have some answers" Aelita tells her.
"Ok."
"Also don't tell Jeremy." She phones up the others and tells them the same thing.
The others all arrived without Jeremy to discuss what A had found. "I came searching for a reason why I couldn't access Lyoko, and the reason is that it doesn't exist."
"And that's exactly what might be happening?" Fake Jeremy says as he arrives.
"So, the prince of coldness finally greets us. What do you want?"
"I just got a message from Aelita. She said a tower has been activated and something with a program to erase Lyoko. I haven't heard from her since."
"Yeah, and you're gonna send us with no link right?"
"I created a new access protocol. All we need now are the scanners."
"Something seems off about you. The real Jeremy would be a little more panicked if his darling Aelita were being erased at this moment. Unless you didn't care-"
Aelita was about to reveal him, until the real Jeremy came in. "Stop! A is right. This is a trap!"
"Xana is that the best you can do. A ridiculous look alike to waste our time" the fake Jeremy says.
"I don't think so. If there is one thing I learned about you, you wouldn't know how to create look alikes" Aelita states.
"Yeah, he's the phony. Just like everything around us. You never returned from your last trip to Lyoko. You landed in a virtual world" the real Jeremy announces.
"That explains everything we've been seeing."
"Right, Xana makes mistakes. He only has little knowledge of the real world. If Lyoko existed, A would've been able to access it by now."
"You know what, this Jeremy is right. A would've accessed Lyoko, even if it was being erased. Nice to see the real you Einstein" Odd says to the real Jeremy.
"NOOOOOOOOO!" The fake Jeremy screamed as he transformed into a horrifying looking demon. They all realized this was Xana in his true form. Xana then conjured up three monsters to hold up Yumi, Ulrich and Odd. He then used the cables to wrap up Jeremy. "I'M SURPRISED A. I THOUGHT YOU WOULD STAND WITH ME!"
"You've gone too far this time! Right now, I stand with them!" Aelita answers.
"THEN YOU CAN DIE WITH THEM!" He wraps her up as well. He laughs evilly. "YOU ARE ALL GONNA DIE! AND THEN I WILL HAVE WHAT I NEED TO ENSLAVE YOUR WORLD!"
"Aelita!" Jeremy screams, hoping she would hear him.
As their death nears, the monsters suddenly disappear, along with Jeremy who is going a devirtualizations. A is also released.
"Jeremy, no!" Yumi screams as he disappears. And then everything was engulfed in white.
The Lyoko Warriors found themselves on Lyoko, seemingly forgetting everything, except A. Jeremy, and Aelita. "Aelita, are they-" Jeremy starts.
"Don't worry Jeremy. They're all here" Aelita answers.
Aelita explains everything as Jeremy announces that Xana has some visitors for them. They looked to see all the people were bloks in disguise. They all rush off to confront them.
The group was all in the lab discussing what Xana meant with why A didn't stand with him. Aelita couldn't risk telling them the truth. So, she came up with a clever lie.
"I was thinking that if Xana were ever able to win, I could be left alive" Aelita explains.
"So, you actually talked to him?" Odd asks.
"No, but since I'm sometimes helping on Lyoko, he doesn't really see me as a threat. So, he thought during this trap I would stand with him in your demise. I guess he through wrong."
Aelita knew the real reason why Xana thought she would stand with him, but if they knew, their trust would be shattered and then getting the keys would be much harder.
"Listen, this day has been hectic. I'm gonna go relax" Aelita says, opening her Lyoko door.
"Check back in a few days" Jeremy tells her with a smile.
"Why?"
"Because it's almost time."
The others were confused, but Aelita knew exactly what he meant.
Aelita returned to scold Xana, but that scolding would have to wait as desperation set in. "We need to talk!"
"We sure do. You betray me?" Xana says.
"Betray you? You tried to kill them and me! You're the one who is out of line!"
"If we want the keys, those three have to go. Jeremy was just a bonus."
"Well, you left me in the dark with this plan. If you told me, maybe things would have played out differently." This, she knew, was not gonna happen.
"There is still more to come."
"Well, get to it, because in a few days, Aelita is gonna be rematerialized."
This last statement shocked Xana. "You can't be serious!"
"Jeremy was pretty confident in his statement. I think he knows what he is doing."
"My monster is not ready yet. Do you have a plan B?"
"Do you have a way to extract a memory from someone?"
"Yes, but only limited ones."
"Then that's what we're going to do to tie Aelita to you. Next time I return, we move on part one of our plan."
A.N. – This was an interesting chapter to write. I liked this episode for its creepy factor as well as it shows what the Lyoko Warriors are really dealing with. Next time, it will switch multiple views on Lyoko only as Jeremy aims to free Aelita and future Aelita and Xana aim to slow them down in order to have time to retrieve the keys.
